I learned of Sherman Outdoors from Chimney Pro of Alexandria. They highly recommended the quality of wood and also, their tree cutting skills. Richard was responsive, fair, and prompt with services. This was my first time ordering wood via a bulk order...absolutely will not be my last. read more

We are an older retired couple with limited endurance. This is our 2nd year using Sherman for firewood; the first year, we ordered 1/2 a cord; they delivered it promptly and stacked it neatly along our chain-link fence. The wood burned so beautifully that we used our wood-burning stove all winter, until we ran out of wood in February...so this year we ordered a whole cord. It was again neatly stacked, and the wood is burning great. After the delivery was made, the owner of the company called to make sure we were satisfied. This is an excellent company, their prices are fair, and we will continue to use them every year. We highly recommend them, and the extra fee for the stacking is well worth it. read more

They're very responsive and they have a good customer service response. They also have great fireplace wood.

Sherman Outdoor Services were great. I was looking for a 1/2 cord of firewood to be delivered. I called on Wed and left a message. They called me back that afternoon and by Friday I had a 1/2 cord of kiln dried mixed hardwood firewood. Supper happy with the service. The delivery was quick. There was probably 1/2 cord of standard cut hardwood with another 0.1 of a cord of misshapen, kindling, and fire starter material. Will certainly order from Sherman again. -Scott read more

This is my first experience purchasing firewood and I gotta say, this company certainly knows how to treat its customers. From the initial phone call all the way to the delivery, it was a first class white glove experience. I ordered the kiln dried 1/2 cord and they stacked so much wood on my new wood rack that the cover wouldn't even fit on it lol (see pics) My guess, is they gave me easily 3/4 cord for the price of a 1/2. Talk about value and bang for your buck! I'd recommend this company to my momma, pick up the phone and call right now! read more

Second year using Sherman Outdoor Services (SOS). Last year we purchased a 1/2 cord of the kiln dried mixed wood. It was perfect for indoor and outdoor use, lit fast and burned clean! This year we decided to go with kiln dried oak ((they were already sold out of this last year)). The service is fast, easy and they stacked it beautifully! read more

Sherman Outdoor Services - 1/2 cord - Kiln Dried Oak - Firewood Near Me - Lean, Virginia

This was my first-time ordering firewood ever, so it took me quite a while to put an order in. Prices for a 1/2 cord were all over the place, and I was having a hard time picking out the right company. Richard reached out to follow-up on a previous conversation where I had asked for pricing earlier in the year, he noted he had availability for delivery that week. Coordination was simple all over text message (my preference). On the day of delivery, I had a very specific location I wanted the load drooped (as to not block both sides of the garage) they placed it perfectly. I was able to pay online which made for peace of mind and got an emailed receipt so I could track expenses. We last weekend stacked the firewood (which overfilled our 1/2 cord log rack), and had two easy to light (minimally smoky) bond fires. The wood was over 90% hardwood and dry, we will absolutely order again! read more

When the weather turns chilly, we get a fire going in our much-loved big ole' fireplace. I shudda seen it coming over the summer...we didn't have enough wood to make it through the winter. I got a recommendation for Sherman Outdoor Services and made the call. Boom... within 1.5 day, beautiful seasoned wood showed up at my house. Richard is a pro and has many different options from seasoned to white oak/kiln dried. The product and service is top notch. Go no further...give Richard a call. read more

Excellent looking (and nicely smelling) kiln-dried firewood. I ordered over the phone and they were patient in answering all my questions. I received an email confirmation for the delivery window shortly after. On the delivery date, the crew brought some of the finest kiln-dried oak firewood I have seen. They stacked it neatly on the rack to the side of the house. They must have made a mistake measuring, because they needed to do a second run. I ended up with more firewood than I ordered! read more

Online ordering was quick and easy, had all the info needed to decide what kind of firewood I wanted and pricing was clear and upfront. Ordered a full cord of firewood and that is what we received. Wood was tightly stacked and the delivery crew left the area clean, like they were not even there! Can't comment yet on the burn quality of the wood, but it cut to the right size, all wood and no scraps, and looks to be nice and seasoned. I would highly recommend them and we will be a repeat customer for sure. read more

3 minutes ago-Edit Unfortunately - after a month of talking (3 phone calls) and understanding on lateness for a wood delivery to DC which they had agreed to - I got a call from the company saying they wouldn't deliver wood. Now I had waited over a month for the delivery before I got this message which meant that other wood suppliers were charging premiums for the last bit of wood left. Now we have no wood for the winter. Why say that you will be able to deliver and then rescind a month later? read more

I have been with these folks since they started. It's been great to follow their success. That's what a great product and first class service can do. Use them. You won't be sorry. read more

Best Firewood I've had in years and great service. Ended up getting a little more than I ordered and it burns easily and clean.

We decided to use our fireplace a bit more this winter so did some research on firewood delivery. Sherman did not disappoint! Very responsive, great burning wood (we picked the seasoned hardwood blend) and they even stacked it for us! Will definitely order from them again. Highly recommend. read more

This was our second year ordering firewood from Sherman Outdoor Services, and for good reason. First, the product quality is top notch. Clean burning, dry firewood. Not all places truly deliver on that. But most importantly, their service is the best in the area. They deliver quickly, and go above and beyond. Last night, Derek stayed on site until late in the evening to offload and neatly stack our delivery. He took great care in ensuring everything was organized, even though it was late and he had been doing deliveries all day. I can't speak more highly of the company, or of Derek in particular. We'll continue to be dedicated customers due to the high quality of the product and their continued impeccable customer service. read more

Very fast and efficient firewood delivery. Neatly stacked exactly as requested. Dry, well seasoned wood. Highly recommend this company!

If you're looking for the best treated, great-smelling, long-burning firewood, give Richard from Sherman Outdoor Services a call. He is gererous with his time (advising on the differences between treated and kiln-dried wood) as well as with the 1/2 cord of wood he delivered and stacked beautifully in my backyard. Even though based in Virginia, he was willing to deliver to my home in Silver Srping, MD within a matter of days. I will absolutely be o ordering from Sherman Outdoor Services for future seasons to come! Don't hesitate! read more

Excellent quality wood. When we started burning the batch from Sherman, we could immediately tell a difference from the wood we had been using from another source. The owner followed up with an email to check on satisfaction. Great product, and they stacked it. Will keep using Sherman for sure. read more

I moved to Bethesda in late October and needed seasoned firewood ready to go for the winter. On short notice Sherman Outdoor Services delivered and neatly stacked half a cord of kiln dried wood that burns like a charm. I paid a premium for the wood and the stacking but it was worth it. This is the third year in a row that we've ordered firewood from Sherman. And there's a reason we keep returning! Not only is the quality of the wood excellent, but the customer service can't be beat. They're always willing to discuss options to make sure we select the best wood for our needs. They never try to upsell! In fact, they actually recommended we buy a smaller amount so the wood wouldn't go bad. They also get your wood to you FAST! Highly, highly recommend! You couldn't do better! read more

If you like garbage wood that's uneven, hard to split and makes smokey, hissing fires as you try to relax in your living room, you should stick with those cheaper places that leave their wood outside to "season" for 6 months. If you want kiln-dried, easy-to-split, wood that makes a great flame, little smoke, and smells great...call Rich at Sherman Outdoor Services. This is definitely a situation when you get what you pay for. Wood is great, service is great...don't consider getting your firewood anywhere else. -- Tom, Kensington, MD read more

This was my second time ordering firewood from Sherman Outdoor Services, they are an absolutely amazing company to work with. The owner really cares about customer service and was willing to help me get the wood I needed on a schedule that worked for me. They stacked the wood perfectly in two different locations with a smile the entire time. I have purchased a lot of firewood but none has ever been as great as the kiln dried oak (you have to try it!). It burns well and gives off a fantastic aroma. All in all, a great experience. read more

You can stop searching for firewood delivery folks and just give this place a call. They were so easy to work with, polite, gave great advise about quantities and type of wood, and even followed up a few days later to make sure we were happy. The wood itself is excellent quality. We got the kiln dried and it doesn't pop, doesn't have bugs, is easy to light and burns clean. We've definitely found our go-to spot! read more

Placed an order through their website. No email confirmation, no payment confirmation though it eventually reflected on our statement bill, no followup, and no delivery schedule established. We were stunned when we received a phone call saying they were at our front door. They were not. They were at a different house. Thankfully we were home when they arrived. The gentleman that dropped the wood off was pleasant and hard-working. He apologized on behalf of the company and that things were scattered because of covid. Understandable but the lack of followup is inexcusable. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. read more

Top quality wood, great service and dependable. Extremely pleased with stacking the wood, was very careful and neat. Couldn't recommend more. read more

This would is GREAT. It burns like a dream and is very consistent - much better than other wood I had purchased this hear, which in one case was so wet I could not get it to burn and in another case had so many knots it was tough to split. I ordered with priority delivery and got within a couple of hours. Richard and Lauren were great to work with. I am not a big Yelp reviewer but was really struck by these guys. read more

We recently had a new wood stove installed and ordered a 1/2 cord of kiln-dried firewood from Sherman. Couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. Richard responded promptly and we talked about delivery logistics. The wood itself is fantastic--it lights up immediately and burns clean. The cuts are also pretty uniform, so the wood stacked well and there weren't any big pieces that didn't fit in the stove (our stove doesn't have the biggest firebox so 16" or less pieces are ideal). One note: the eastern half of the beltway and surrounding areas are outside of the delivery area listed on Yelp, but Richard was still willing to deliver and stack the wood for a reasonable fee. Will definitely order again. read more

I just purchased a cord of seasoned firewood from this business and I couldn't be happier. Service was friendly and responsive. Ordered a cord of Premium Seasoned Blend for our outdoor fire pit. The wood was delivered next day (without a rush request on it) - which was amazing. Without a doubt there was at least a full cord of wood in the delivery, if not a little extra. Wood is super high quality, we are using it for our indoor fireplace as well it is so nice. We stacked it ourselves. Will 100% use them again for firewood delivery, will very likely have them stack it for us next time as well. Highly recommend Sherman Outdoor Services! read more

I could not recommend Sherman Outdoor Services any higher, I have had nothing but amazing wood from them this Winter and Fall. Their customer service is always prompt and unbelievably friendly and honest. They are the only place that I will buy wood from the rest of my life. I will say their Kiln Dried Oak Wood, while more expensive is far superior to any firewood that I have ever burned in a fireplace. read more

Working with Rich was great.
