I met a couple friends for dinner and drinks before heading to a motorcycle race downtown. I had a few Black & Tans which were poured perfectly. I also had the Breakfast Burger, I don't recall the actual name but it had a fried egg on it with bacon. The burger was very good but I ordered it med. rare and it was closer to well done but I still enjoyed it. The fries were very good as well. BAR REVIEW If you're looking for college crowds with bros and girls with backless shirts, yellow beer and autotune, kick yourself down the hill to the north side of downtown. This is not the late-night spot for you. Rosie's is for the 20-30somethings who want to go out, enjoy each other's company, have a good time with great drinks, people and music. They do need more and better beers on tap. The draft selection is pathetic. In a perfect world, they would do a limited pub menu late night. But those are wish list things. It's tough to find places in town that aren't too college, too country, too sportsy, or too snooty. Rosie's has the right balance of being really nice without being snobby. FOOD REVIEW Their food menu is very good. They haven't done a re-boot in a while, so if you're a regular, it's the same stuff. But that stuff is fantastic. Some of the best food in town. Great flatbreads, some of the best burgers in town, and the farfalle alla vodka with grilled salmon and asparagus is terrific. Haven't tried their Ahi Tuna Skewer special, but it looks phenomenal. If you like Fried Calamari, look no further than Rosie's. Great, light breading, good marinara for dipping, chewy (like calamari should be), but not too chewy and no tenticles. What's technically an Irish Pub shouldn't have a great quesadilla, but wouldn't you know it? Rosie's might be the best in town, and that includes any and all Mexican places in town. I would love, love it if they could purchase that alley and convert it into a beer garden. More outside space would be perfect. Very upscale food! I had the pecan crusted chicken. It came with a loaded potato, mixed vegetable (that were fresh and perfectly cooked) and a fresh salad. The sauce on the two chicken breast was a mustard base that was the best I've had. The wait staff was flawless and the experience very enjoyable. The only negative is that the dining room, although very nice, can get quite noisy. I will return to try a different dish, but the bar has been set high with the pecan crusted chicken!!! read more

Nice place with laid back atmosphere. I'd prefer that the bar tvs have sports, not politics or business talking heads with no volume. The bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer was worth the price tag. I had a regular cheeseburger, add bacon (always), lettuce and pickles with fries. Cooked the way I ordered with a fantastic bun. Delicious burger with decent fries. My dining partner was carb loading and had the large portion Fettuccine Di Mare. Couldn't finish the dish but leftovers are always a bonus. The staff are fun and engaging and aftr coming in a few times they make you feel like you've been a regular for years. Drink specials are good and the food (especially the steak sandwhich) are great. Rosie's is a great place to pop in for some good food and drinks. I have sat back in the restaurant, at the bar, and at the tables in the bar area. I have had great service in each place. They do have outdoor seating seasonally as well. My favorites on the menu are the bugers (tasty!) and the duck salad (yummy crispy duck!). Their fries are very thin (even thinner than Steak 'n' Shakes), but have good flavor. There is also a good beer selection and a full bar. The wait staff is attentive and pleasant as well. I definitely would like to go back and try more of the menu and would recommend it to anyone wanting a place for lunch, dinner, drinks and appetizers, or just a few cocktails or beers. read more

After listening to my daughter rave for months about the food at Rosie's, I decided to give it a try for dinner. I definitely was not impressed. I ordered my burger medium-well, and it was beyond well done. It was dry and chewy from being so overcooked, and was one of the worst burgers I've had. Also, the fries were subpar, a bit chewy and shriveled from being either old or overdone, perhaps a bit of both. And my daughter's flatbread entree was incredibly dry and boring. She wasn't happy, either. I did enjoy the intimate ambience in back, impressive for a pub. I will say that the lunch menu looked more interesting, so I may try that sometime. read more

On 2/26/2017, I attended the IHSA wrestling event at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington. Between rounds, I walked to Rosie's Pub and was there approximately 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM. I used my credit card for food and drinks. I then returned to the Coliseum. At 4:45 PM, I received messages from my bank that $1,500 worth of charges had been applied to my card at a "Stop & Shop." Preliminary research suggests this is store found on the east coast. I had not used my card since Rosie's. I immediately put a stop on my card and hope to recover those charges. I walked back to Rosie's and talked to a manager and shared this information. She denied any knowledge of the situation or any wrongdoing. I can't prove anything, but I can share these facts with you. Non credit card comments: The place is small, but has atmosphere. No complaints on the food. I had a cobb salad. read more

This is the place for me to grab a great sandwich and relax on a Saturday afternoon. The bar and atmosphere make Rosie's an appealing place to relax and have a few beers and grab a bite to eat. I have only been their for lunch, so I can't comment on their dinner menu, but I have yet to have a bad sandwich at this place. My favorite is the Dynamic Duo on the pretzel roll, which comes with the homemade chips that I could eat all day long. The prices are fair for a decent size sandwich and chips. They have other entree, salad, and appetizer items, other than sandwiches on their menu, but I usually stick to sandwich and chips or soup. I don't think you will find a better place in Bloomington-Normal to get a decent lunch and some drinks. read more

Not as good as I remember... My wife and I ate here several years ago and had a wonderful meal. Not so this time. We ate at the bar because it was so crowded. The beer selection is above average, though not extensive. They had two of my favorites on tap - Hoegaarden and Stella. Went for a pint of Guinness tonight. We weren't terribly hungry so decided to go with an appetizer and split a burger and salad. The spicy fried pickles were excellent, though a bit too greasy. The Caesar salad was OK, but had way too much dressing. The bartender looked at me kind of funny and laughed when I asked for anchovies- not an unreasonable request in a "nice" restaurant. Since the salad arrived without them, I guess they don't have them. The jalapeno burger was totally unremarkable. It didn't seem that juicy, but it must have been since the bottom bun was a soaked, flattened mess. I guess that's where all the juice went. All in all, a very mediocre dining experience. read more

The good: The food is a mix of mid-price bar food (burgers/pizza/sandwiches) and more expensive seafood/steak/pasta dishes. I have enjoyed everything I have eaten here. Also the dining room looks great and has a nice quiet atmosphere. The drink selection is pretty good, they almost always have something I like on draft. Lunch menu is nice and usually not very busy. The bad: Unfortunately if you don't get into the dining room you are stuck right next to the bar, which for dinner on the weekend is so loud it makes holding a conversation very difficult. Also I have had server issues when seated near the bar, I don't really blame them as they really have to fight through a crowd to get to you. The ugly: Going on Friday/Saturday night? I hope you made a reservation well in advance, or you aren't getting in to the dining room. Which means you could be looking at a 40 minute wait to get seated near the bar. Also be prepared to wait a while as the kitchen is too small to handle getting all those orders out in a timely fashion. read more

The burgers....I'm droooooling just thinking about it. I love that they have two sides to their store. The more elegant side has romantic lighting and a quieter atmosphere...it would be great for a first date or a dinner with your grandparents.
