Easy to find location with a welcoming entryway was a great way to start my initiation to a well loved local cafe. My friend and I enjoyed the cozy, quiet booth where we were seated. And unknowingly, close to the coffee pots area! Lucky choice! It's really cute that they serve their coffee in mismatched mugs with cute quotes on them. Better still? They serve GREAT COFFEE! My friend and I chose the same entree. Two eggs, hash browns, toast and bacon. It was WONDERFUL bacon! I know, some of you would argue "all bacon is wonderful". But as a certified Bacon Admiration Society member (yeah, I just made that up...) this is exceptionally delicious. I ordered my eggs over easy. It's obvious this was not the cook's first effort since my eggs were perfectly cooked. The hash browns should have been ordered "crispy" to tick the win box for me. But they sufficed. Our server for this first effort was Betty. Well dressed, manager on duty, "knows her stuff" - - which in my estimation - - is a good thing!! I look forward to returning soon. The outside of the restaurant was clean but needs some repairs. The inside was clean but outdated decor. The service was quick and they were very nice. I found a hair in my drink. I ordered the American breakfast with my eggs over easy. I did not receive my toast until I asked for it. My egg whites were still snotty but my yoke was hard and already broken open when I received them. They precooked my eggs and they looked better but my whites were still snotty and very underdone. My daughter ordered the pancake breakfast and said her pancakes tasted funny. I was hoping this would be better but it wasn't. read more

Breakfast, The Most Important Meal of the Day! I do not know how I missed Rosie's Cafe during their over 20 year history. It is right across the parking lot from what had once been one of my favorite BBQs, and right down Highway 40 from one of my top three Italian restaurants. I know I have been past it over a thousand times! On the recommendation of an old friend, I stopped in for breakfast (it is one of the "breakfast" places that have now become all the rage), and was immediately impressed. While the parking lot appeared full, along with the parking spots along the street, I still found a handy spot. Noticing that almost every table was filled, a server was on the spot to point out a couple of empty ones. Slipping into a well worn but very comfortable booth, another server with a coffee pot in hand asked if I cared for coffee. Yes, I said, and a cup appeared in his other hand and was served quickly. That was when I realized that Rosie's has a very loyal customer base. A friendly server showed up and asked if I needed a menu. As I said "yes" she informed me on the special of the day: "2 bone-in pork chops, eggs, and hash browns for $9.75. Pork chops so tender you can cut them with a fork!" Hmmm, replying that I did not believe I was that hungry, she said, "We've got to go boxes." My fate sealed, chops were my destiny. Within minutes my order was delivered with a statement that mine was the last one left, eyeing the clock I saw that it was only 8:15 am - guess this was a popular option. She was right! I am not sure why a knife was served along with my order, I do not think I have ever had pork chops that tender! Their flavor was great and everything else was prepared perfectly. Presentation exceeded the "local diner feel" of the place and was equal to anywhere in town. Looking around at the other customers I could tell from all the smiles that my impressions were not unique. Rosie's has the "vibe" and product that all the recent additions to the "breakfast restaurants" in town strive to achieve, but seldom do. It is truly the "needle in the haystack" of that niche in the market. I did not have the stomach capacity to try their "famous" pecan waffles, but that leaves yet another reason to return. If you have missed Rosie's in the past, you do owe it to yourself to slip by for an honest-to-goodness breakfast. I know that I plan to be back. read more

First time here and the food was great! Service was fast and with a smile. Then as I'm leaving I asked about all the smiley face decor and when I asked about a certain one to buy, the lady gave it to me! She said, "it was given to me so I'm giving it to you." She had no idea what it meant to me. As it was my best friends birthday who passed away 3 years ago and she loved smiley faces. It was the kindest thing ever from a stranger. Celebrated a birthday today and no better place to do it than Rosie's Cafe. The minute we walked inside, my mother was excited to see all of the country home styled decor and furnishings. We ordered a veggie burger which looked and tasted just like a hamburger and was delicious. I had the club sandwich with fresh potato salad made up that day. Another ordered the open faced pot roast sandwich. We topped things off with slices of fresh pies including chocolate, lemon, and coconut cream. Sharon and Jeff took great care of our table, and Rosie came out with them to sing the good 'ol happy birthday song. Love this place! read more

The first thing i want to point out in my review is our waitress Jillian. She was cute as a button with her big brown eyes and sweet girl smile. The place is small, with booths and a few tables. The decor is pretty dated, but seemed clean. We ordered coffee, a small oj, a sausage omelette with crispy hashbrowns, wheat toast, and a chocolate chip pancake with two scrambled eggs and one sausage patty. We asked for honey for the pancake. About the food: My omelette was fine: plenty of sausage and cheese. The hashbrowns were crispy and pretty good. The toast was buttered well. The OJ was a very small serving (which Jillian, our waitress warned me of), but was plenty for me...it was a bit bitter, but i still drank most of it. My husbands eggs were ordered as scrambled...they were slimy. ugh. His pancake was pretty flavorless (even with chocolate chips), but it was huge. It was also overcooked. The honey was corn syrup and honey mix. meh. The butter is the vegetable oil kind. also meh. The coffee was fine. You can even ask for flavored creamer. The staff seemed to be mostly family, and were all pleasant. We likely won't return here to eat, due to less than average food for a $32 bill, but it was nice to try somewhere new. read more

Place was empty on a Wednesday afternoon. Should have been a hint to us. Tried the place because hubby was feeling like soup and their menu has a Soup and Salad section. Alas, no soup for us. So he tried a bacon burger which was fine but the fries were obviously from a freezer bag. My open-face turkey sandwich was cold in parts (was the gravy just microwaved? If so, not completely. ) When we were ready to leave, couldn't find anyone to pay even though I went to the counter and called out and rang the little bell they had. No wonder this place has been in business for over 20 years. It gave me "grandma's house" vibes from the restaurant itself, staff, and the food! Not in a bad way by any means. Discovered this little place as we wanted to try a local breakfast spot before our first game at Arrowhead stadium. I cannot say enough good things about this cafe and wish I didn't live 8 hours away because I would be stopping in often. From the moment we walked in the staff made us feel welcome and like we were one of them. We talked football and when they found out this was our first game at Arrowhead some of the other staff members and patrons came over to welcome us and tell stories of their gameday experiences. One of the guys even went as far as giving us a souvenir he got at a football game years ago. The food came quickly and was beautifully prepared. I got the meat lovers omelette with gravy on my hash browns and wheat toast. Everything tasted amazing and the ham and sausage tasted fresh, almost as if it were locally sourced. It was the best omelette I have had in a long time, maybe the best ever even! Rosie's is a good little family café/restaurant. The food is homestyle & seems to have improved since the new owners took over. They are working hard to rebuild their customer base back, as the old owner had run Rosie's for almost 30 years with mostly the same staff. It is a family run restaurant & the new owners brought in new staff. This, plus in my opinion some racial bias, caused the old staff to bad mouth the the new ownership during the transition. If you haven't tried Rosie's in a while give it a try again, as the above is all behind them now. The food is good, the staff is very friendly & helpful, & the coffee is still hot & good. read more

We needed a breakfast spot on the way to golf last week and stopped at Rosie's. It's a truly lovely place with wonderful staff who couldn't be nicer. They've been open for 23 years and hopefully will be open for another 23 years! I had the half waffle, bacon, and eggs dish while my husband had an omelet with hash browns. I loved my waffle as it was very fresh and my husband really liked his omelet. It's definitely a local favorite as the staff knew a lot of people in the restaurant. A true find! read more

We were swayed by the ratings on Yelp. I guess it depends on what you're looking for. We prefer a quality over a quantity meal. I ordered a waffle and it tasted sour and I was sick later in the day. My eggs over-easy were basted, apparently in bacon grease, and the hash browns seemed likely out of a frozen bag. The folks are friendly for sure, but I would never go back. We left without ordering, after waiting 15 minutes for someone to come take our order. I'm disappointed because the last time we were there, the service and food were great. Unfortunately for Rosie's, we won't be back. We arrived around 11:30 and were greeted from the dining room where the only server working said "sit anywhere you like." A kind gentleman instantly brought us menus, waters, silverware and asked if we'd like coffee. It appeared that he was also bussing tables throughout the dining area. We stuck with water since it was lunchtime. The server made eye contact with us a few times, and we had closed our menus and put them near the edge of the table, but then she sat down in a booth with a customer and chatted with him for 10 or so minutes. She completely ignored us. So we left. The first visit was so much better (different server), but this is a bit of a drive for me, so I won't be risking another "server who's too busy talking to pay attention to other customers" incident. read more

I really wanted to like Rosie's, but alas not so. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with hash browns and a sausage patty. Which is a staple of breakfast places and not hard to make. Home cooking it is not The gravy is screaming for flavor. With the texture and color you could tell it was a box mix gravy. The sausage patty was deep fried and soaked with grease. Hash browns were reconstituted potatoes half of them were over cooked and the other half was still need to be soaked. If that's home cooking they can keep it. I left eating only a few bites. My server was friendly and the place looked clean. But with how bad the food is l'm not willing to give them another try. read more

My family had a nice experience at Rosie's when we stopped in for breakfast the other day. I ordered a half waffle made with pecans and a side of bacon. It was really good and I'd gladly order it again some time. Others in our group of five had biscuits and gravy, eggs over easy with sausage and toast, a three egg omelet with sausage and cheese and a side of potatoes and basted eggs, sausage and hash-browns. So you can see we had quite a variety. Guess the food was all pretty good 'cause the plates got cleaned. We have been hearing about Rosie's from several friends and now that we've tried it we will be back. We were there on a Tuesday and it was nearly packed at 10 a.m. but the nice staff got us a booth with an extra chair set up almost right away. Even being so busy, the service was fast and friendly and coffee cups got filled when needed. Would you believe that I initially thought this place was a flower shop? There's a big flower on the sign, and they have a bunch of plants by the entrance, so from the street it really did look like a place to buy a corsage. That being said, I was surprised to discover it was a diner. Along the same vein as Big Biscuit, they only are open until 2pm, catering to the breakfast, brunch, lunch crowd. Upon walking it, I felt like I stepped into an 80's country diner. A lot of the older crowd goes here, and you can see a lot of them holding court in a ginormous round table. Coffee cups come in all kinds of colors and designs (think yard sale hodge podge). The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. Our glasses were never allowed to be empty, as they were prompt in refilling or replacing. The chicken friend steak has the perfect breading-meat ratio, and it is very well seasoned. The gravy is good. English muffins are cooked on a flat top for that extra crunch. The prices were very reasonable, the portions leave you more than full. We were tired of looking for a quick place to get breakfast, our hotel offered a grab bag, ever fast food place was carry out or drive thru only (we drove through at 11:00 p.m. the night before after the ballgame because we couldn't get anything to eat at the game without waiting 45 minutes or more in line, missing much of the game, paid more for fast food sandwiches than for a full service, delicious breakfast at Rosie's! Horrible experience today. Slow service. Waitress did not listen to what we ordered and then set down the wrong meal in front of each of us (there was only two of us). Employees were not smiling and seemed to be almost snarling at each other.... Particularly the male waiter had a poor attitude. Did not receive our glass of milk with our meal that we ordered.
