Pies

Wow. Just wow. We are visiting my husband's home town from Chicago and came for a quick lunch before we hit the road. We were both blown away. The Rosebriar was a favorite of my in-laws thirty years ago, but it seems new owners have been able to both maintain the historic charm of the area while still keeping current with the times. Everything was absolutely delicious, especially the Ruben and strawberry custard pie, and the service was outstanding. Sincere southern hospitality, great food, and cute decor. This is on my must visit list every time we make it back to Albemarle!

Rosebriar Restaurant is an old grocery store that is now a lunch spot. Nothing ever changes here, which is why it's so popular. Homemade soups and salads (macaroni, potato) made daily. They make dozens of fresh pies daily also....so so yummy! Nice atmosphere. Business crowd. Only open weekdays for lunch. I could eat an entire banana split pie alone! Friendly southern hospitality.

Inside.

A great place to see smiling faces while enjoying a good meal. The pies melt in your mouth and so worth going back for.

Make sure and leave room for pie - or do like I do and eat it first!

I tried this place a couple years ago after they first opened and it was pretty good. I was in town…read moretoday and had a taste for soul food so thought of them. I was very disappointed. Service was ok, I have no complaints. It was very clean and smelled clean as well. Really was only like 3-4 people inside. Now let's get to the food. I ordered grilled pork chops, rice and gravy, fried okra and a roll. Also lemonade to drink. Lemonade was really good. Pork chops definitely were baked and not grilled with no seasoning at all, just pepper and salt . Rice and gravy was unseasoned and okra was just ehh. 1 of the porkchops were 85% fat . I gave 2 stars because of the lemonade, maybe this was a bad day for them but I will not be coming back. Oh and they charge if you use your card

New to the area and came across this little spot. The waitress, Kym was phenomenal. She was not…read moreonly great at her job but she was amazing with our three small children. We ordered three kids meals, including a hot dog (a little charred) cheeseburger and chicken tenders. All were made fresh and were kid approved. We also ordered the chicken breast meal with mashed potatoes and green beans. The chicken was slightly overcooked but we all know chicken can be finicky. It also came with cornbread but that was not edible. It was essentially a brick of grease. The mashed potatoes and green beans were star of the show! Delicious. Overall, we had a good experience and will be back!
