A few places remind me of how things used to be. Rosebriar is one of them. Clean dining room. Simple menu. Table cloths. Happy staff. Reasonable prices. Great food. Diner fare. No Michelin stars here. BUT, authentic local food cooked perfectly and tastes like it was 1960's, at least in my mind. I ordered the Swiss and grilled onion burger. Nothing fancy. Side of macaroni salad. Verdict? Excellent. Hard sear on a genuine ground beef patty, grilled onions, Swiss cheese, with a slightly toasted bun. Brioche? Potato? Sourdough? Nope. Simply old school white bun with a properly grilled burger just begging to be eaten. Wonderful. Couldn't be better. Topping off our lunch we ordered a Coconut custard pie to go. OMG. This is a diner that genuinely bakes homemade pies with a restaurant on the side! Has my "Give 'em a Whirl" meter drooling over the pie display asking for seconds. Support local. Go here. read more

Normally I love this place but today I was very disappointed with the chicken salad on the croissant. So much egg inside with hardly any chicken. Very dry. First we thought it was a mistake but when we asked girl said no that's chicken salad. We ate it but we were not happy. Pie was good as always. I won't order the chicken salad again. This place continues to be a classic, little lunch stop with simple but beyond delicious sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads, and pie. It's the best place to stop in for lunch to see just about everyone that you know in town. The service from every waiter is always friendly and the atmosphere always reminds me of an old school restaurant. A very quaint place to be! read more

Service was great the wait staff was very helpful. They have great sandwiches, salads, soup of the day usually two and quiche. The restaurant is known for their pies. There were at least 10 choices. All that we choice were fabulous. I had the Reuben sandwich which was excellent! Also had freshly made potato salad. For dessert I had banana split pie. Mmmmmmm. read more

Wow. Just wow. We are visiting my husband's home town from Chicago and came for a quick lunch before we hit the road. We were both blown away. The Rosebriar was a favorite of my in-laws thirty years ago, but it seems new owners have been able to both maintain the historic charm of the area while still keeping current with the times. Everything was absolutely delicious, especially the Ruben and strawberry custard pie, and the service was outstanding. Sincere southern hospitality, great food, and cute decor. This is on my must visit list every time we make it back to Albemarle! read more

The last time I went to Rosebriar they did not have air conditioning and it was in the summertime I don't know if they fixed it because I haven't been back They have awesome desserts but they're not good enough to sweat and eat !! The waitresses did not care that it was hot and the temperature was unbearable they should've closed the place down that day hot food and a hot restaurant with no air conditioning was just too much to deal with I didn't return they probably had the air conditioning fixed by now but this was something that left a bad impression on me so I choose not to return as of yet........... read more

Rosebriar Restaurant is an old grocery store that is now a lunch spot. Nothing ever changes here, which is why it's so popular. Homemade soups and salads (macaroni, potato) made daily. They make dozens of fresh pies daily also....so so yummy! Nice atmosphere. Business crowd. Only open weekdays for lunch. I could eat an entire banana split pie alone! My husband and I drove to Albemarle to go to R. P. M. Cycles. We stopped for lunch at the Rosebriar. We were both very happy with our lunch. I had the chicken and rice soup and a Swiss burger my husband did the jalapeño burger. The service was wonderful. You definitely need to stop. Make sure you bring some cash. The food here is standard lunch fair - hamburgers, sandwiches, and salad plates. It has a nice, neighborhood atmosphere. Bring cash because they do not take cards. The reviewers are right...the pie is delicious! I had the banana split pie and it was so good I ordered a piece to go, but I forgot it...damn, damn, damn. The chicken salad on croissant was great. My only complaint is they need some new chairs in this establishment. My coworker fell because their chair broke and they wouldn't even offer her a complimentary piece of pie. Furthermore, the waitress showed no sympathy and even asked her why is she breaking the chairs? #whodoesthat #thataintright read more

I had a good experience her at Rosebriar. I used Yelp to find a new place to eat in Town. I am not much of a pie person but my friend is. We both loved the pie that we had to have after reading the reviews. I had the Bluboy burger which was good. All in all the food was decent and their specialties are pies. Don't know what all the hoopla is about with this place. First off, their limited hours (11 - 2 M-F ONLY) meant they are not open at times when I would be able to dine there. C'mon, how hard would it be to be open on Saturday, or even Sunday for brunch? The menu has a wide selection of lunch fare--narrowing my selection was difficult. I settled on the cold plate: chicken salad, macaroni salad, potato salad, and fruit. *sigh* The chicken salad had WAY too much mayonnaise, as well as an odd, tangy flavor that bordered on being rancid. I ordered a _cold_ plate. The potato salad and macaroni salad were both a little *warm*. This made them gross, not to mention the potato salad also had WAY too much mayonnaise. I felt like I was being served mass produced slop from the grocery store deli. And the fruit? Straight from a can. Except for the honeydew slice, which was rock hard. Now, as for the pie, the selections were also numerous. I was leaning toward the pecan when I was told it was not made in-house. Nix that! *sigh* The pie was also mostly a disappointment. The biggest strike being that the crust was obviously frozen. To their credit, the staff was very friendly and on-the-spot with refills. I will come back to try some of their other dishes.
