This place is located on a quiet street in uptown Whittier. There's free parking in front on the street or a free parking structure directly across. The place is small on the outside but seems bigger on the inside. It's super clean and gives off a relaxing vibe. The massage room has a wall of battery operated candles that give off that ambient lighting and the soothing music is the cherry on top. Liz is so sweet. Talking to her feels like talking to an old friend. She's knowledgeable and good at what she does. The first session I did, I just got the facial massage, but during my session she learned I was post op and suggested the chin contour treatment which comes with red light therapy to promote healing and another machine that uses heat to help tighten the skin. The massage feels like a good type of pain. I know she's working her magic and I leave Agave with my jawline snatched. I love how she suggests things I can do while at home, in between sessions. And she makes sure I'm doing my part to help myself heal. I can't wait to be fully healed and try the other treatments they offer. Being the only masseuse there, she tends to the man with cash and puts him in the room next store and try's to pass my friend to someone else. She tried to call for back up so my friend would have to wait. After refusing to wait, my friend tried to explain that he had an appt. The lady then goes next door and apologizes to the guy and sends him off. She then comes back, coldly finishes the massage within 45 mins. My friend not only lost time but didn't get to enjoy what is suppose to relaxing due to the constant interruption. Even though our passes were complimentary, that doesn't change the experience we had. The spa was incredibly loud. People were talking across the rooms and carrying on conversations in the wet areas as if they were sitting in a bar. There are signs posted asking guests to keep quiet, but the rules were not being enforced. I finally had to ask the front desk to remind guests to lower their voices. A very sweet woman from the front desk came out once, but the noise continued. Eventually, I felt I had to approach a few women myself and politely ask them to quiet down while pointing out the signs. I should not have to police other guests when I'm paying to enjoy a spa. A Korean spa should be a place where people can relax, respect one another, and enjoy a peaceful atmosphere. Unfortunately, that was not our experience today or anytime I have been here. It's ridiculous. I truly believe this spa has a lot of potential, and the affordable prices are attractive. However, management needs to enforce the rules and establish an atmosphere that matches what guests come to a Korean spa for. I'll be returning to Olympic Spa or Wi Spa. Yes, they cost more, but for me, the cleanliness, atmosphere, and peaceful environment are worth the extra money. After my facial, I had access to the spa facilities and spent some time relaxing in the jacuzzi. If you aren't familiar with a Korean spa, prepare to be naked in the wet areas, and they give you a spa outfit for the common areas. K Spa is really friendly for first timers cause they have a sheet with etiquette and rules for those not familiar with a Korean Spa experience. We made our spa reservation about 2 weeks in advanced. We both got the 60 Minute Oil Massage ($125) which comes with admission, Korean scrub, and an oil massage. Come at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment time if you're doing the scrub, as you need to soak for optimal dead skin cell removal. So we got lockers and out spa outfits. There is a shoe locker by the entrance and then larger lockers further inside. My friend and I started off taking a shower to clean off before going into the jacuzzis. The wet area has the same amenities as many other Korea spas. There are showers, both standing ones and sitting ones where you can scrub each other's backs or shave your own legs. There are cold, warm and hot jacuzzi. They have sauna. The size of the wet area and the individual jacuzzis are on the small side compared to other Korean spas I've been to. Anyways, we went to the warm jacuzzi and soaked for half an hour, with some brief water breaks in between. Towards the time of our appointment, we went towards the treatment area. The ladies look at the numbers on our locker keys and identify us for the treatment. My lady did not speak much English but that didn't matter cause we were able to communicate well nonverbally. The pressure was perfect and she was so thorough. I felt so clean after all that dead skin cells was removed. The oil massage was such a nice way to moisturize after getting scrubbed. The common areas are co-ed. The main space was really warm. It was too hot outside to deal with that warm feeling. There are also small communal rooms for ice, red clay, salt, and forest. We peaked in the common areas but we were getting hungry after our treatment so we decided to go to the restaurant connected to the spa. Didn't love the restaurant but it was nice having the option to eat something nearby and convenient. We paid at the entrance so when we left, we just had to return the keys and any tip envelops. The staff also have venmos and some even have zelle so that makes it easier if you're short on cash. Overall I thought it was great value for spending a few hours at the spa with my friend. Once the massage started, she did a kind of body scan and she worked on all my tense areas. It was a deep tissue massage that definitely hurt but was very worth it. She made sure to ask if the pressure was okay each time it got intense and I told her yes (I can handle pain), I'm sure that if I asked to go softer she would but I was just letting her do her thing and trusting the process. I wanted to see what it was like the first time since I'll be returning for more sessions. This massage was nothing like the "regular" massage you get at one of those massage parlors where they have a routine and go about the appointment. Nancy took the time to focus on areas that I didn't even know needed to be worked on and I felt like complete jelly afterwards. She even did some cupping (my first time) and used this vibrating massage pad (heaven), my nose got stuffed halfway through and she put on some eucalyptus oil to open up my airways (very thoughtful). Nancy seems very intuitive to what your body needs so I'm sure that each massage she gives is going to be individualized to your body. She was also very informative about aftercare and what my body will be experiencing the following days and she was right.
