Wow! Bad vibes right from the start. We enter and no welcome have a seat. We stand there and wait,…read moremake eye contact with the bartender (the only person in the place) and ask " can we sit anywhere? " finally a reply, yes. So we sit and wait. Finally the bartender comes over and hands us a menu. Right away I get the feeling we are not welcome. My wife confirms the vibe and we contemplate leaving immediately. We change our menu choice from the steaks $45 to the burgers 17$. We look at the menus for a while and nothing. Finally the bartender comes over and says " you are supposed to order at the bar"," oh there used to be a sign but they removed it". Maybe she wound have mentioned that when she handed us the menus. I really want to leave here but hunger has me. The customers seem nice though. Really a bad experience from jump street. So after sitting a while the food comes and the person delivering it is so nice. The "bartender" did not get the order correct but no worries because the lovely server makes it right. The bartender has a dog and it is all over the place including the table tops? People come in and are seated right next to us. They have two dogs but there is no problem with our pup and theirs. They are lovely people. The whole time we are there from entering the establishment to the time we leave the "bartender" is talking to the people at the bar, laughing and talking. This includes the time we waited to be seated till she comes over with the menus and tells us about ordering at the bar. Nothing better to do but hack it up and make us feel uncomfortable. I get the fact that you know the regulars but wouldn't you like some more regulars? This is a hospitality industry not a hostility industry. She has got some issues! Anyhow we pay the check and leave a tip, but if the "bartender" was the only person we delt with I would have opted out of the tip. Everyone in the place was really nice and conversational except the "bartender". Good grief! The food was really good btw. Too bad I lost my appetite for the steaks because the menu was very nice and so was the presentation.

Every inch felt welcoming and comfortable for our family of four. The waterfall at the Stratton Falls campus was absolutely stunning and incredibly relaxing. Falling asleep to the sound of the water from our deck made the experience feel truly special. Even with the cold weather, there were still plenty of activities to keep our family entertained. Between the waterfalls, game room, Netflix, life-sized chess, foosball, air hockey, the Crooked Cabana bar, hot tub, and dry sauna -- this place truly has it all. A special thank you to Chuck for making our Mother's Day weekend even more memorable than we could have imagined. From the cookies and coffee to the kids' welcome packets, every detail reflected warmth and care. We could not imagine a more family-friendly and welcoming experience. This was our third stay here, and it somehow keeps getting better every time. We already cannot wait to come back again and bring even more of our family with us next time.

Our bagged breakfast was missing a few items we ordered. That really was not ideal, as we had a long drive ahead of us to the city. So we ended up having to stop to get a couple of things since what we planned on having was not there. Also, the wait for someone to be at check in was long. We went to the Stratton falls first accidentally. It's 2.5 miles from where our location was. Apparently, the guy at check in saw us and knew we were at the wrong property (they were full at that location) but didn't tell us when he saw us. (We didn't see him). When my son finally found someone (that guy) he said "I saw you when you came in and knew you went to the wrong place...". Ok.... So you just let us stand around for 12 min, before we went searching for you? He wouldn't even give us more than "it's down the road." Directions to the other place. That guy was an awful first impression. The lady at our location was lovely, but he made the initial feeling stick with me. So, customer service sucked because of him. I had friends that came to meet us from 30 min away and had to wait an additional 20 min thanks to that guy. Would I suggest it? If the service continues like it was... no. Fun themes though. I hear they moved to new ownership, so maybe that's what is going on.

The hotel itself is cozy, full of charming little spaces, and we truly felt pampered throughout our stay. It's pet-friendly (huge plus!), and everyone was incredibly kind to my dog--he had the best time exploring the hiking trails with me. The vibe is very relaxed, peaceful, and the perfect place to disconnect from the world. Now for the real star of the show: the food. We did the tasting menu and it was so good. I loved the intention behind each dish and how they highlighted seasonal ingredients and the local farm sources. My personal favorites were the mushroom dish and the venison--both were phenomenal. The staff was warm, attentive, and did a great job walking us through each course. A few small observations: The dining room was a little too dark--I love seeing my food, especially when it's so beautifully presented. Since it was my birthday, I expected a bit more than a lone candle. No cookie, treat, or even a candle placed on top of dessert--it just didn't feel special. Dessert wasn't for me. It was somewhere between a milkshake and ice cream, but with a strange mochi-like texture and an overpowering amount of lavender. It felt like eating soap. The quail course tasted amazing, but the presentation wasn't appealing. It looked a bit messy, and leaving the head on (even though it wasn't edible) felt off. That said, everything was incredible--thoughtfully crafted, delicious, and visually stunning. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite and the whole experience. Highly recommend--can't wait to return!

My party of 4 was a little early, so we had a drink in the tavern downstairs first; bartender made a great whisky sour. For dinner, we did the a la carte menu. I tried: + Cabbage + Ricotta toast + Grilled broccoli + Mangalista pork chop + Ricotta dumpling + Cheeseburger + Spiced cake The highlights were the cabbage, pork chop and burger. Overall I thought the food was excellent, though I wished they offered sides (especially some type of a potato for the burger). Would have gladly paid for additional sides a la carte.

My bf booked a night for us here after receiving a targeted Instagram ad. He's an absolute sucker…read morefor targeted ads, and I must congratulate Farmhouse Catskills on their marketing prowess; however, the marketing strategy gives you a pretty good idea of what you can expect. This place is definitely instagrammable... but unfortunately not much more than that (at least for now). Pros: They've done a seriously beautiful job on the decor- lots of grays and moody dark blues, mid-century furnishings, and prolific use of some of the best artificial tropical plants I've ever seen. All of it is as pretty in person as it is in those Instagram ads. When you walk in, there's ambient music that matches the vibe perfectly. We didn't take a dip in the pool because it was kind of chilly, but I thought it was neat that there was a poolside DJ. It's also worth mentioning that this place is clearly very dog friendly, and as a dog-lover-but-not-owner I was happy to be able to pet so many pups on the property. And there's a decent pool table, yay! Cons: It's pretty clear that this place was sort of hastily opened in an attempt to pull in some cash before the end of the summer, without being adequately prepared and staffed. (It kind of reminded me of one of those house-flipping shows on HGTV.) In our room, one of the ceiling lights still had blue painter's tape around it. The door (which opened to the outdoors) stuck badly, and the knob was not really appropriate for the purpose- more of a closet or bathroom doorknob than something secure for a hotel room- no deadbolt, etc. We had the same troubles with the hot water that another reviewer mentioned. We had to wait almost an hour to get a cocktail at the bar because it was understaffed. I imagine there were just one or two bartenders serving the bar, restaurant, and pool areas. (For the record, the cocktails were nice, though, as was the bartender.) At one point a man who seemed to be more or less in charge of things (but somewhat overwhelmed) was quite rude to us and another couple we were socializing with in the bar area. The morning we were to check out, a housekeeping person opened the door to the room at around 8:30 AM when we were still asleep. She apologized and said, "Oh, my manager said you already checked out!" We said "No, isn't check out at noon?" She confirmed and went on her way. No big deal. But about an hour later, ANOTHER person barges into the room and says her manager told her we had already checked out. (I'm guessing that her manager was the aforementioned overwhelmed guy.) In short: This place has definite potential- again, so pretty!- but it seems the focus right now is aesthetics over experience. At a lower price point I'd probably call it four stars, but at $300/night in the middle of nowhere, I'd expect better management and service. I'd be interested to see if they work out some of the kinks next summer.
