I stopped by to grab a slice of pizza for lunch and here are some thots: -$6 for a giant slice of pizza and a soda--excellent lunch value! -I got the "special" which was pepperoni and green pepper. I came in for a late lunch (2pm), so not super fresh, but very good. -Friendly service, nice atmosphere. Mostly a take out place with 4 or 5 barstools for quick eat in option. -I've had better pizza, but a pretty good slice option, top 5 in the area in my book. Highly recommended!

NOT Baked Mostaccioli in SKIMPY Meat sauce.

Been ordering from this location for over 20 years. The quality and flavor of their food is not like it was then. Beef has zero flavor, skimpy on meat also. Stopped ordering it from here. Pasta has also taken a nose dive. The Chicken Parmigiana is just a frozen round breaded chicken patty. Not real chicken! Baked Mostaccioli today was awful! Not baked at all! Meat sauce was real skimpy on the beef. Pasta thrown in container, sauce plopped on top, cheese looks like it was microwaved...definitely not BAKED! Husband had Lasagna and was disappointed in the flavor and lack of layers, only 2. Pizza will be our only purchase. But they sell them in the pizza section at Jewel, will try it!

They didn't honor their throwback price promo today. Several of us were turned away at 2PM.

The lady we had waiting on us was serving a lot of tables, but she was very good at coming by & making sure we had what we needed. She was fast without seeming rushed. They give you bread as soon as you sit down. We ordered Chicken Parm, Seafood Pasta, & a special Garlic Chicken in Corn dish they had for that night! We had food for days! Seems pricey, but it's because the portions are massive! The decor is quite nice & the place is kind of loud. We thoroughly enjoyed this place & will definitely be back to try their other dishes! My husband chose the lasagna with the Bolognese sauce, and I had fettuccine Alfredo, both of which were very large portions and delicious. Waitress was a very nice and efficient woman who knew her stuff and got her order perfect We both chose to only drink water, chose no appetizer or dessert simply two entrées and our bill with tip was $65

I'm a New Yorker, and although I enjoy a good Chicago deep dish, I still favor NY style pizzas. And this one is the best I can remember in Chicago. I've tried a lot. The crust is almost perfect. Well baked, crusty, chewy, and tasty. Lots of air at the edges and a great bite throughout. We had the sausage and peppers pizza. The sausage was crumbled across interior with fresh peppers. The sauce could have had a little more flavor, but it was very good - not too salty like so many others- and nicely spread across the inside of the pie. The crust held the toppings nicely- there was no mush in the middle. We also ordered a pear and pecan salad. Lots of pear squares, plenty of pecans, and a generous amount of greens. The soup of the day was a Tuscan soup - lots of beans, some sausage, cheese, and a flavorful broth. Fresh and homemade. And very good. Oh, and a pitcher of water came to our table with our plates and silverware. No issues. No problems. (From earlier reviews, we had been concerned about the availability of tap water. Ours was fine.). There was a reasonable selection of beer- including craft beers- at very reasonable prices. We enjoyed our meal. Ordering at the counter was easy and efficient. Prices were reasonable and the value was good. We found the service to be pleasant, friendly, and timely. We will be back to try other pizzas and look forward to it.

I didn't expect these to be so good from a pizza place, but I am pleasantly surprised. The flavors are so unique, and done so well! Seriously, these pazckis stuffed to the brim with delicious, creamy filling. What we got: Pistachio cream - Soooo surprising! Super nutty and not as sweet as I was expecting. Usually pistachio flavored things taste top of tongue sweet, but this was rich, creamy, and deeply nutty. And holy cow the filling! Super generous and just gushing out! Biscoff - Again not too sweet! So good and such a fun flavor that you don't normally see. Their cookies are chewy and had a unique touch: the oatmeal raisin is dipped in espresso, though I think the raisin doesn't quite match, and the chocolate chip is made with browned butter, which gives a richness and deeper flavor that cuts the sweetness of the milk chocolate chips.

Our last 3 visits we threw out the food. 3 visits ago, the chopped salad was so over dressed it was not edible. 2 visits ago, there was a tooth pick in the salad. I got smart and asked for the dressing on the side. And today, the meatballs were overly salty, the red sauce was overcooked and brown, the calamari was overcooked, the lettuce for the meatball salad was drenched in salad dressing (again) and limp. We picked it up 3 minutes after we were notified it was ready. Threw out the meatballs and the lettuce. The bread that came with was hot but hard as a rock 30 seconds after it cooled off. I'm not sure what is going on but it's going to take a lot for us to come back.

Out of curiosity, I decided to check it out. Located across from the railroad tracks and near the Metra station, Dario's is a local institution that serves up tasty sandwiches and more. I liked their sandwiches options on the menu. The variety was good. I ordered their Fiesta Panini that's made with pulled pork, habañero aioli, muenster cheese, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I wanted something to drink and I saw that they have homemade lemonade with cool, different flavors. I got me a small Guava Lemonade. My panini was freshly prepared. It had a good flavor w/ a nice kick of heat from the habañero aioli (but not spicy in the typical habañero flavor sense). The pulled pork was delicious in taste and texture along with the toppings of muenster cheese, the habañero aioli, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I should've eaten only one half of the sandwich but I couldn't resist having more, so I finished it. The panini was darn delicious. I liked the restaurant's cozy dining area with outside light coming in. They have a nice patio area as well which would be perfect to sit at on a nice weather day. The staff were friendly and helpful. I liked Dario's a lot and will be going for more. Check them out.

However, my issue is that I went in with one other person and we ordered two paninis and two cans of sprite (one of each for each of us), with one salad bowl to share. It was $55 dollars after tax. Maybe it's me but it seems like a lot. The service isn't really a question here. It's not bad. They call your name, you grab your food, and bus your own table when you're done. Pretty standard. However, If they did that for you, the price wouldn't bother me as much because thats a proper service. To talk a bit about the restaurant itself, it's small with more space to eat outside than inside, but thats just lovely right now in the summer. The place looks clean too. They had complimentary coffee which was nice. The staff are reasonably young. Probably late high school or freshmen in college but that doesn't mean they can't do a good job. Overall, I don't know if I'd recommend this place to everyone. Im conflicted. I like big portions and quality foods of course, and this was great in flavor, just pricey. To reference the surrounding area, I can go here, or to Emits across the street which is consider the finest dining in downtown Palatine past the Argentinean Bendita and Bella Pizza, and spend around the same amount of money. Still the best panini I've had in a while though.
