Long story short: a must for high end dining at Cancun. We went as a group of 5, and the food was fresh and well flavored. We ordered a ceviche, charcoal grilled fish, Alaskan king crab tacos, shrimp tacos, and roasted marrow. Each of the dish was well seasoned and prepared with amazing decision. The highlight for us was the Alaskan king crab tacos, which was a great way to highlight the freshness of the crab without too overwhelming flavors. The bone marrow toast was interestingly sweet. And the charcoal fish was tender and perfectly seasoned. Most importantly, the service was a experience. Before ordering, they bring you a visual platter of the different quality meats they have. The waiters were attentive, wiping crumbs off the table and changing the plates often. The atmosphere was amazing as you eat to the sun setting by the water. A side story: as we booked the taxi through out hotels staff. Everyone said "wow, you'll enjoy the food". This is a must in Cancun. What an experience this was. We knew this was one of the hot spots of Cancun, but what we didn't realize was how lively and fun it would turn out to be. Lively music, Dj's, dancing, fire shows, and a lively set of restaurant goers who were ready for a party....I don't have much to say about the food since I can barely remember what we ordered (That's how much fun we had). But I can remember the corn dish which was both delicious and pretty hefty serving wise. Needless to say we certainly enjoyed our meals and drinks with no complaints. So, in the past I LOVED this place. We visit Cancun every year and make sure to put Rosa Negra on our to-do's; But after our last experience, I'll never be back. It started when we arrived and we're told our table wasn't ready. I requested an outdoor table for this reservation. We waited 45 minutes for our table regardless of the reservation I had. We then were invited to watch the show outside to pass time while waiting for our table. On our way in from watching the show I saw multiple tables outdoors empty. Also, while waiting for our table people were coming in and being seated- outside immediately. After asking when we'd be seated our table mysteriously was ready- inside no place near where I requested. So I asked about the table outside that I saw and was told nothing was outside open. When I explained to the manager that I saw an open table he said it was for 5 people, our reservation was for 4 people. I then saw a hostess escorting a party of 4 to the exact same table- a clear slap in the face and very disrespectful. The manager then took us to a table in the dark on the deck. We tried to make it work but when we ordered our drinks- that was the last straw. They came melted and gross. The entire experience was so very frustrating, especially for returning customers who spend over $700 every time we visit. It seemed like they had a preference of who they wanted to provide excellent service to and we were not it that night. After we told our waiter we were leaving the manager then offered the world and begged us to stay. Good for the experience ...a one and done kinda restaurant. Its located out by hotel row in the cancun strip. Valet parking ...will probably upcharge the tourist kind. What this place does is that they offer a fire dance show and a fireworks display on their back pier in front of the water ...very entertaining. The entire dining experience, there a dj playing crazy loud house music, its a latin club vibe thing they got goin on ...great for tourists! Their menu is on qr viewing. Actually a nice spread to select from. Kinda tricky at first because there another restaurant menu that is viewablebon the same qr so u have to scroll down. Service kinda went slow in ordering, probably because they are really busy. Waiter was good to tell us about some popular drinks and was quick to aske if we want to order any kids menu items to start with. As we waited, the mgr staff come around with a seafood and meats display to talk about their special offerings. Here is how we did our order...we had a large family party so we ordered a couple main entrees to share and then added plenty of sides from the menu to pass around ...even able to share with the two people in our party who ordered separate meals or salmon and a lamb rack on their own that did not share with the rest of us. The food came out accordingly... we did get the 76oz tomahawk, which had its own cooking display that incorporated a cutting table and a blowtorch, with lots of fire involved. ..through all this, the waiter lets us know that their fire show and fireworks display is about to happen in a few minutes ...then you notice the patrons all over the restaurant converging to the back pier to catch 'the show' ...10 minutes of twirling fire and a spinning wheel of fireworks ....and a lot of club music and bongo hitting ...yes, its craccin up in here---but it then gets redundant. Throughout the evening, there people celebrating some occassion so some tables will get the loud serenade and holler of birthday song, cheers, a slice of cake with firesparkler sticks ....so needless to say, after our dinner, we and our birthday celebrant, redundently waited our turn for the festivities. ...then we had to pay the bill. so overall, not a bad place. We spent Christmas Eve at RosaNegra, after hearing so much about it. The place is amazing, we had a table near the water, which made the experience even better (to watch the music and performances). Memo, Paola, Jose, Cecilio and Mario took special care of us, always close and paying attention to anything we could've needed. The food was also spectacular, although I highly recommend saving room for dessert. We ordered the Cheesecake on the Clouds, the Baked Alaska and the Chocolate Sphere. I just want to say that I did not really do much research coming to this place. I only heard that they had amazing food so I didn't have any other expectations aside from that. Well, I took my bf here for his birthday last week and let me tell you, it was one of the best dining experience we have ever had. They handled COVID precautions very well and all staff had masks. Truly 5 stars! Now for the food - just absolutely insanely great! From the appetizers, the soups (OMG! So good!), the main courses - even the chicken fingers we got for the kids were heavenly! And we ate and felt like royalty! While the price was the highest we'd paid for hike in Cancun, it would have cost us a couple of thousands in San Diego. Here, try 1/4 the price. Now, the view! This is definitely more like a luxurious party vibe that likely comes to mind when picturing "a night in Cancun" The service was great! Elio, my waiter, was like my best friend for the night - I was traveling alone, so it was nice having someone who made it feel like I was taken care of! I never thought I would have a favorite restaurant but Rosa Negra has changed that for me. This place is hands down the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. I think my waiter's name was Fortunato and he was AMAZING, the best service I've ever had. The food is phenomenal, only rivaled by a dinner I had in Paris a couple years ago. My friends and I ordered a little of everything: the risotto, duck tacos, chipotle mash, alaskan king crab soup, grilled asparagus and it was all fantastic. The restaurant itself is beautiful, it's a great setting for a birthday, anniversary or just a fun dinner in general. I didn't even know they had performers, fireworks etc which elevated the experience (plus champagne in the ladies room!!?). I love Cancun and will be back to Rosa Negra every time I visit. While this may not be the most flavorful and delicious food you'll taste here in Cancun, this will definitely be one of the best dining experiences you'll have. For starters, all the servers are very friendly and love to crack jokes. The ambiance was similar to that of a club's. There was loud music, so it was a little difficult to have conversations, and dim lights. The tables were a bit small especially since we had a party of 6 crowded around a small round table, which barely fit our dishes. We ordered a variety of food from the duck tacos, whole fish, risotto, kale salad, and salmon. The presentation of all the food was absolutely beautiful. The duck tacos were great, not amazing, but still tasty. The risotto was one of the creamiest we've all tried. The salmon was juicy, but lacked some flavor. The portion sizes were good as we were all left fulfilled. In terms of dessert, we ordered the churro. Before being seated, they asked if we had any special occasions, to which we notified them of an anniversary that night. Later during dessert, they came out with a complementary cake with a firecracker! It was definitely the highlight of our night. Overall, the experience is unforgettable! I am laying in my hotel room completely overstimulated after dinner tonight at RosaNegra. The reviews made this seem like it was a nice, romantic, upscale restaurant. When I'm fact it's more like a club that serves food. Even the manager came up to tell us how it more like a club and after a certain hour people are dancing on the tables. About every five minutes on a weekday you have people coming through with sparklers singing whoomp there it is. The DJ is so loud you can't talk and is playing awful remixes. If that doesn't deter you, The ceviche was actually pretty good! We liked the tuna and the Peruvian. The octopus tasted like horseradish which we hated. Our entrees were pretty terrible. The Tuna was over cooked and the don Ricardo fish was also a bit overdone and the sauce was overpowering. We did get free dessert cause it was our honeymoon. Not much to say other than that. Dinning at Rosa Negra is an experience! This is my third time visiting Rosa Negra, twice in Tulum and first time here inn Cancun. I am so glad the experience did not differ from the first two. INCREDIBLE. The establishment is beautiful for starters. You definitely feel the elegance as soon as you walk through the front door. Ambiance is incredible. Lighting is just right. Very intimate and luxurious. The Cancun location is much bigger than the one in Tulum but I will say it's fitting for the more laid back boutique style vibe of the city there. There are i believe three levels to the restaurant. We were seated on the area right above the dock which was awesome because we had a front row view of the awesome shows the restaurant puts on. The light show, where it seemed everyone in the restaurant was given a sparkler started the party but the fireworks stole the show. I brought a group of friends here after a wedding and everyone was just as impressed as i was. On to the food, I had the mushroom tinga tostadas for an appetizer. 4/5. Pretty good but not my favorite thing on the menu. The vegan burger was delicious and very filling. My friends enjoyed steak and lobster. The presentation is A1 btw. I can't rate given I am plant based and didn't try any of them but going off theIr review, they were great. Gerry was our server. Couldn't have asked for a better person for the job. We come to our reservation, only to find out that half of the menu they don't have (no ceviche, no shrimp other than shrimp tacos bc it's premade, plus several other). My mother in law asked for a wine and they didn't have it. They tried to give her one 20 bucks more and then kind of shrugged when she argued against it I got the tuna and honestly it was good. Everything was wonderful from the staff to the food to the ambiance, everything! We happened to be walking down the road and decided to stop in. They have a nice, large indoor dining area that's has an upscale look. We opted for the back patio overlooking the lagoon. It was beautiful out there. The service was one of the best experiences I've had a restaurant. They offer lots of meat and seafood options you will never get in just one restaurant. We had the giant clams from Florida and OH MY - they were delicious!!! Probably the best I've ever had and the presentation was beautiful! We also had the octopus appetizer and the tuna appetizer with local Tulum brewed lagers that were tasty. One thing to note if you want to sit outside, they do allow people to smoke out there so if you are bothered by that, maybe say something to your host. You are treated like a VIP guest and greeted by the manager immediately. We were offered complimentary bread on the house. The menu (as most places post-covid) was on a scannable QR code. Food: every dish was spectacular! From the spicy octopus dish, to the ceviche sampler, lobster bisque, to the butterfish tiradito, and the picanha wagyu steak!!! ALL were absolutely perfectly cooked. I highly recommend trying any of those mentioned and you will not be disappointed. The price point was not too bad either! (except for the wagyu ofcourse lol) Ambiance: Gorgeous, tropical, tulum vibes! The decor was modern with lush greenery and absolutely instagram worthy! Dress to impress for sure. Service: EXCELLENT! The server was easily accessible the whole evening. Right after we ordered our food, the manager came over to invite us outside on the patio for their "fire show"! We were so confused but we went with it. Their patio is HUGE and amazing with multiple levels of floating docks. We were sat inside due to a huge party outside. My wife does not take no for an answer. We got outside, not the best table. Service was a little less, which I don't mind most of the time. I got the NY Strip, it was okay, no where near a top 10. The wife got a filet, it came out undercooked. She asked for medium well, hoping for medium and it came out rare. Timing was bad, they were getting ready for the evening show, my steak was done before they came to check on our food. They took her steak back and the show started. People surrounded our table, my food was almost done. After the show, they said they would take care of the steak. At that time, were were done with dinner. The service here is impeccable. Highly recommend the crab legs and they are great about making wonderful recommendations for wine. Two words. THE EXPERIENCE. This place is a must go to spot in Cancun. They have amazing cocktails and spectacular ceviche and the food is phenomenal but the real treat here is the friendly and accommodating staff and the performances done by fire dancers and men beating on drums. Then fireworks follow. Not a place for a quiet family dinner but you're in Cancun you can do that anywhere else in the USA. This spot is so amazing and fun. They have baked Alaska set on fire for dessert and let's not forget the sparklers everyone gets as we all get together and sing sweet Caroline. Oh how fun this place is. If you are interested in Latin American cuisine, please visit the Rosa Negra group restaurants: Tora & Rosa Negra! They are both right next to each other, but their menus are a little bit different. I will say that the night that we went to Tora, we had better service than we did at Rosa Negra. It could've been just an off night. Our waiter spilt our bottle every time he kept trying to pour us a shot, so service 4/5. (We ordered a bottle of Clase Azul) The ambiance, vibes, and scenery were the same as Tora since it was a shared space. We got lucky and got a front row to the show. We were sitting on the deck, so try and get a seat out there! I love that they give every guests sparkler, it gives off such a fun and entertaining vibe. People come here for the atmosphere, but it's a pro when the food is even delicious as well. The artichoke was kind of bland, I wouldn't recommend ordering that. Came here for dinner to get out of our resort for a night. Overall, it's was a pretty good experience. Service is great, food was very flavorful. It is a very upscale party vibe. Seemed like every 10 minutes the restaurant turned into a party. Anytime someone ordered shots, or a birthday, or a presentation entree, the entire restaurant stopped and just became a party. The restaurant literally stopped everybody's dinner, asked everybody to go out into to the deck of the outdoor patio to watch a live performance show with fire. We kinda enjoyed the whole experience, understanding that it's Cancun and a lot of people are here to party anyway. YMMV on the whole party vibe though. read more

My boyfriend made a reservation on valentine's day and payed extra for the table that includes an experience. There was absolutely no experience. We ordered guacamole for an app that never came after waiting over an hour. Our reservation was for 8:30 and 9:45 still no app. Guac. Our server was nice but would get annoyed and leave us mid talking to him when we weren't ordering fast enough. We ended up leaving with not even an app by 10:15. We understand it's valentine's day but they should have the staff to actually attend people on a busy day. We didn't even get offered water. An incredible gastronomic experience with incredible food that well prepared and beautifully presented . The service was outstanding but a little clumsy. They did their best in a co fined space but in a high end restaurant where dinner costs around ( approximately) $200 a person - the expectation is of impeccable service and execution . Moving chairs over the heads of customers to create space is less than ideal . Unavoidable but not ideal. The servers were fantastic . I have been to Tora- their sister restaurant next door on several occasions and I like the slightly more updated elegance in service and presentation a little more. Having said that ; this is a great restaurant with outstanding quality of food and worth the price . The decor and ambience are great. read more
