Lovely restaurant if the owners had a clue. Bright lights at the bar and throughout the restaurant. Great menu but the food quality didn't justify the menu. Now I know why the ribeye is so cheap! They need to hire a restaurant consultant because they have all the makings of a wonderful opportunity in an up and coming town. They are obviously catering to the locals and are clueless to the fact that outsiders are quickly outnumbering the locals in this community. Misleading from the outside but it's a small & Charming mom and pop dinning. Friendly greeting when we arrived, small wait, 10 minutes- it was a Saturday night @ 6:30. Food was incredible and portions were large. I ordered the catfish tacos, my husband ordered the shrimp po boy and my daughter ordered the chicken strips( made in house, claimed the best she's had @ 11) Waitress was attentive and friendly, Prices were unbeatable ! Very good spot to grab a meal in Athens! We stopped in Athens as a halfway point to Florida and gave this restaurant a try. Very nice staff with generous portions and yummy food. I'm taking off a star for the flies inside of their establishment. Onions straws very good and the burger was tasty as well. If you're not into fast food I'd recommend this restaurant. Ratings below. (Ratings take into account taste, quantity, and presentation, in that order.) Onion Straws- 7/10 quite good however portion could be bigger and a little more grease than I'd like Chips- 8.5/10 Excellent Homemade Chips, Some of the best we've ever had. A few a little dry and they didn't all taste the same but still very good Hush Puppies- 6/10 not very crispy and not as much flavor as we would've liked Fries- 7.5/10 Pretty good with good portions. I don't have a huge knock just not the best I've ever had Burger- 7/10 Not a juicy flattop burger but still quite delicious. Very good portions and I'd consider it a "stand alone" burger meaning you don't need a lot of toppings to make it taste good. With that being said the jack-Jack was very good. First time trying Ro's and the food and service would've easily gotten a 4 or even 5 star, but they were out of the one thing we went for, the Rueben Egg Rolls. The server said "we run out at lunch and they don't have time to prep more for dinner". I'm sorry, but on a Saturday night, this is a terrible excuse. But what we had was very tasty. I had the Jack Jack burger and fries. This was by far the best burger I have ever eaten! Serving size was ample and the price was reasonable. The place itself could use some sprucing up inside and outside. Doesn't look like much. But the food was excellent and the wait staff was quick and friendly. Unfortunately, I went back several days later, and drove for 25 minutes to get there because their online posted hours show they are open until 8 pm. I called 4 times on the way trying to place an order to pick up, but got no answer, and when I got there, the place was dark and closed up. Apparently they closed early. :( This was VERY DISAPPOINTING! Came back several times since then. The food is always excellent and sometimes surprisingly so. My Son and I ordered the fried mushroom appetizer expecting to get a small order of say 6 mushrooms. No, these were home made fresh battered, deep fried plump fresh mushrooms and you get a delicious plate full of them with a side of fresh made ranch dressing. Delicious! This place is on the top of my list of very favorite places to eat. I just wish they were open later. read more

Ate here for the first time today(02/01/2017) I got there at about 3:45 and the place was completely empty. Not usually a good sign, but it's Athens. I get seated upon arrival and look over the menu. So much stuff sounds good but I go with the Momma's Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich with loaded fries. It was great! I recommend it! So much food and so good, too! I don't know what they sprinkled on it but it was so good! From the outside the restaurant doesn't look like much, but there is more than meets the eye here! read more

I have eaten at Ro's about 2 dozen times since they've opened and I've never been disappointed! My favorite is either the Jack Jack Burger or the fish. You can never go wrong with the bacon cheese fries either! Another favorite re the Pond N' Pasture. The portions are so large that you can get two meals out of them. I had heard about a nice little place with a great atmosphere, good service and outstanding grub. Well I found it in Athens. Ro's Grille did not disappoint. Being the first time visiting a restaurant since the lockdowns and sitting on the inside was a treat. To start I got the hush puppies, which were on point with a nice ranch sauce. Then the main course was the Philly Cheesesteak on the hoagie bun and fries. I've got to say the hoagie is the way to go. It's soft but holds up well with all the onions, pepper and beef. Overall service was good and guests were spaced out as to be safe and the staff wore masks. Make this place your next stop for lunch or dinner, you will enjoy it! read more

Why can't they put their correct hours up? They show their hours as one thing but when you get there they are closed. Feeling a bit peckish we decided to stop at Ro's Grille for a small lunch. Their menu is large and we hadn't been before so it took us a minute to decide- this seemed to annoy our server to no end. She was very curt with us. The restaurant was just beginning to gear up for lunch and I'm sure she wanted to get orders into the kitchen quickly. We did get the fried mushrooms as an appetizer and they were the best we've ever had. Light crispy batter and big delicious, juicy mushrooms. Highly recommend them. Can't say much for our particular server, but everyone has a bad day. The other one was very pleasant and friendly. Seemed to actually enjoy people. The food on other tables looked good too. The decor is casual to kinda dive like, but with good food and a fast kitchen does that really matter so much? It seems like a nice place for family and a good place to enjoy some decently priced food. (And the portions are large!). We will certainly come back and try more items. Great choice for lunch while we were in Athens. Generous salad and side portions, great kids menu, very reasonable prices, casual and comfortable atmosphere. I asked if the fried fish was local and told that it wasn't, but a popular choice. I went with the fish and chips and wasn't disappointed. I'd give the place 5 stars, but the server seemed to be rushing us from trying to take our order upon sitting to down to asking if we wanted to-go boxes in the middle of our entrees. Traveling back home to TN, we decided to be adventurous. Ro's Grille was rated #1 in Yelp so we decided to try it out. The parking lot was packed, which is always a good sign, but we only had to wait a few minutes for a table. We started the meal with their signature appetizer, Bearded Stuffed Pups. I thought they were good. My husband said he would increase the "stuffed"ratio, but also agreed they were good. We both ordered the Pork Tips as an entree. They came with one side and toast. Unfortunately, they were out of the broccoli, so we went with a baked potato and french fries. Both were good and with the generous portions, neither of us finished our entire meals. We definitely need to stop back by again and try some of their desserts and other entrées. Nice alternative to the chain restaurant options in the area. Tried this place on a Saturday night. There was no wait. The hostess was very friendly. The server (Lane) was great. He was nice, knowledgeable and attentive. I ordered the ribeye (medium well) and my husband ordered the ribs. The ribs were flavorful and tender. The steak was unevenly cooked and a little tough, but had a good flavor. Great food, great service! I had a jack jack burger and my wife had the fried chicken sandwich, both were delicious and the sides were also.

I love this place! My favorite things are the burgers, chicken fingers, salads, onion rings & loaded fries. The ranch dressing is the best I've Ever had. I gave a four star though because it often takes a long time to get food. For me it's been an average of half an hour wait, which doesn't make it a great lunchtime option. The other thing I'm not crazy about are the drink cups which sweat like crazy and water down any drink that's in them. Easy fix for that: order your drink in a to go cup. Otherwise everything's great-that I've eaten. read more
