Always a great place to go for a classy dinner in Athens especially to celebrate an anniversary.

I think we found one of our new favorite places to eat! So many great menu choices! Went for my husband's birthday and Andrew was great! Service was on point! We were completely satisfied with everything! Thinking about going back for the wine dinner in July. Just be aware that we were told that the menu can change frequently. But this gives you an idea about the types of items that they serve.

This is by far the best Italian restaurant in Athens, Huntsville and Madison. The food, drinks and service is, while Italian cuisine, is southern hospitality at its finest. Give them a try!

It a lot bigger inside than it looks from the outside. Jenni was our waitress and she was great. Had the meatball appetizer, Veal Parm, and ravioli dish with mushroom and oxtail which was to die for.

    Focaccia bread with entrees

Came in for a quick dinner, nice decor and atmosphere, ordered the focaccia bread with onions, arugula salad, pasta primavera, and pappardelle pasta dish with chorizo, peppers and onions in a broth sauce. Our server was excellent, kept our glasses filled and very knowledgeable and helpful with ordering. The salad was very good, the bread was a bit under seasoned but good for dipping in the broth sauce. Both dishes had a good flavor but would be better with a creamier sauce instead of a liquid broth-like sauce. Would like to come back and try the meatballs which are a family recipe. There was a singer in the corner playing the guitar, he was very good and fun to have live music. Definitely recommend for a date night or just dinner out.

We absolutely loved this place! We made a reservation. Make sure you dress nice! It is a nice place! Also, the waiter told us they had live music on Mondays!

OK but not great. Went in for lunch today and the host and hostess were both very cordial. The place was empty which was nice. The interior was inviting and provided a decent atmosphere. I ordered a gin martini and lets just say it was less than acceptable. Got charged $15.00 for what they claimed was a Double Shot (which I did not ask for) of gin and you could barely taste any alcohol in the drink? The star of this visit was the Baby Arugula & Radicchio with chicken salad. It was WITHOUT par. However for $19.00 it should be. I'm sure Athens is grateful for having a 'fine dining' restaurant in the city center, but my personal feelings is if you are going to charge 'fine dining' prices you need to deliver every aspect of the 'fine dining' experience. Watered down drinks is not included in that experience. I did not make a scene because the server was so nice, I tipped 20% left and doubt that I will return. -

Fabulous and quick service! The food was delicious, fresh and well presented. The restaurant had low light and a romantic vibe.

Wonderful service and great food! Ambiance was great for a date night! Cocktails were great- we had the French 75 and an old fashioned. To start, we ordered the shrimp scampi app and the onion and rosemary focaccia. For entrees we had the rigatoni with pork cheek and chicken and the pasta with braised beef. Both were delicious! Our server was fantastic as well!

This place is a great authentic Sicilian Italian restaurant. Menu changes according to availability. But I highly recommend.

Nice atmosphere and very friendly service. The food was the best Italian food we've experienced in the Huntsville area.

Nestled in historic Madison, V&O offers some of the most unique wines and whiskey/bourbon offerings in the region. There's a typical bar area with TVs showing sports, but surrounding the bar are plush, lounge chairs and couches that feel more intimate and inviting for groups. Selection of libations is a great start, but without passionate and knowledgeable 'tenders the experience feels... incomplete. V&O doesn't disappoint here either as everyone is well-versed and opinionated in what they are serving. It's the perfect place to let a few hours bleed away and forget what is going on in the world; maybe have an intelligent sparring session about tastes in the 'brown drink' or adult grape juice... You can spend an entire night here or end up here at the end of the night for a night cap... I don't think you can wrong either way. It's becoming one of my favorite places for wine and whiskey/bourbon... but tread carefully; there are so many things to try you may find it hard to walk out to a ride home. However, you won't regret the time spent within the walls of this gem... I can't promise the same for the next day

She enjoyed two lovely cups of their coffee and then I think water, and I had some vino since she was driving. We split a 10 ounce filet mignon (which is not on the lunch menu but is available if you ask for it) and it was beyond delicious! I trusted our excellent server (I think her name was Holly) to select the cut of meat for sister and me from the butcher shoppe, Corkshire, and it was beyond excellent!! It was just as good, if not better than the filet I split with my Sorority Sister when we came here for my birthday in February! Sister and I also shared their take on a bruschetta. It was good; however, for me, it was the "weak link" - I like a traditional bruschetta with buffalo mozzarella, balsamic, fresh ripened tomatoes, etc., and this was more akin to a charcuterie board on toasty bread slices. It looked beautiful! The meat topping was plentiful and lovely, it had more fat on it than I care to have. There was a sort of berry relish on another layer and that's where I called it quits on the bruschetta. My sister did enjoy it, though, which is what mattered! We ordered two mac and English cheddar cheese fritters for Sister, and she really really loved those! They were presented wrapped individually in their to go box, to keep each one warm, and again, Sister, loved them! Neither of us had room for desert which, since Salty Cod has a separate bakery/gelato shoppe, would have offered some delicious options! Thanks, Salty Cod, for another memorable, relaxing birthday celebration!

This was a…read morethird choice after we struck out at Ramona J's (closed for fall break) and Dairy Delite (only had hot dogs and mom and I didn't want a hot dog that day). This restaurant is located on the square downtown. There's a seating area in front that's really cute, with swings and such. The inside is really nice and comfortable and vibey, plus very spacious! It has at least a loft and seems like it would be a great place to have a drink and listen to some music. It was quiet for lunch on a Thursday, with maybe two other parties aside from us dining. We didn't see any staff for a while, but one of the fellow diners encouraged us to sit anywhere. Eventually, Jaycee came out and quickly got us set up. She was professional and pleasant. It seemed like she was the only person working but our experience didn't suffer because of it. The menu has apparently been recently expanded. It has sandwiches and other bar food, as well as stir fries. We were all in the mood for burgers, so my parents split a burger and fries and I got my own. It's a two patty smash burger and comes with cheese; you can add additional toppings for a small extra cost. I kept it to cheese and ketchup. I think my parents added onions and mustard and maybe something else. They liked their burger better than I liked mine. Mine was very overcooked and dry, so overcooked it had an unpleasantly charbroiled/burnt flavor and crisp. The fries were okay but unremarkable, kind of like a middle of the road McDonald's French fry experience. The food wasn't bad really, but I wouldn't return for a burger. Overall, seems more like an alehouse (as the name suggests). It would definitely be a good spot to meet with friends and enjoy a drink.

Not that there was anything wrong with their…read moreprevious location around the corner - it just felt cramped and their "patio" area out front was tiny. Although I did not read their new dining menu, at a glance it was really extensive compared to their previous location's dining options. Back to the interior. The ceilings are really pretty and honor the historic nature of the new location. Also, it is very very spacious! The ceilings are high, and there is a second-floor loft I did not explore; however, it appeared to be very spacious! The General Manager who was working yesterday said they have a third floor that is not finished yet. The light fixtures were lovely, and the front porch is completely covered and has a variety of seating options including individual swings! The patio has several hard-topped tables with lacquered tops that overly numerous beer bottle caps. They were really cute! So yeah, the patio would be a nice place to hang out, except I'm 99 percent sure it faces east so the sun could be a problem. The bar was a nice size and indoors featured less in quantity, but similar taps that dispensed both wine by the ounce and beers. I think there were four taps and I don't know the system to get a drink from the taps, it's probably a credit card bracelet driven system. The previous location had displays of both beers and wines (both with chilled options in coolers) from which to select for "to go" purchases. This iteration of the alehouse doesn't have any displays like this. They do sell bottles of wine through the bartender and the General Manager told me you can order bottles of wine through their website at a discount. This would be a nice place for a book club to meet, or any sizeable family gathering and it seemed like I saw some games, patio-styled games for children. The G.M., Fallon, was very accommodating, friendly, and greeted me immediately. The service was 1000 percent better at this location than the previous one. The wines I bought were very overpriced. I was quoted $32.00 for a bottle of Chardonnay and was actually billed $36.00, and their Vinho Verde is highway robbery at $24.00 - when other wine shops and Publix sell a similar Vinho Verde for $10.00-$12.00. Also, do know their per glass (of wine) prices were less expensive than their bottled prices. This doesn't even make sense. Clearly, they have changed their focus to providing more of an "in house" experience.
