Once I ordered popping boba on accident (honey boba on the menu) thinking it was regular boba sweetened with honey and did not like it. They graciously switched it out with regular boba for me which I truly appreciated. My one recommendation would be to adjust the sweetness level if you prefer lighter drinks. The last time I visited I forgot to ask and it was a bit on the sweet side for me. I've also ordered poke and teriyaki bowls from them before and it was ok. The food was fine, it just didn't stand out to me. I usually come here for the drinks but would give the food another try given the good service and atmosphere. They have ramen, rice bowls, and appetizers like chicken karaage and kimchi fries. Overall I'd recommend Gung Ho as a solid hangout spot that's centrally located with good drinks and plenty of food options.

I was rooting for this, as we need more Ramen places in Tulsa. Overall, my experience wasn't a terrible one, but definitely wasn't great. I ordered their shrimp spring rolls and pork Ramen. The shrimp spring rolls were really thin and the shrimp tasted watery. Worse yet, the peanut sauce tasted like straight up soy sauce. It was extremely salty with very little contributed flavor. Their full size Ramen bowl was small, but gorgeous. The actual cut of pork belly was very generous and the pork was cooked wonderfully. That's where the positives end. The broth was quite mediocre and didn't add any significant flavor in any way. In my experience, Ramen is made or broken by the broth. The noodles weren't great and I left a little hungry, even with an appetizer. I paid $19 for appetizer, a full bowl and water, which I wouldn't say is a great value. To put this into context, there is a spectacular Ramen place in Oklahoma City called Tomashi Ramen. $19 goes a long way there and their Ramen is out of this world. Sometimes there are bumps when opening up a new spot. I hope they work to improve some of their menu items. I love the thought of a local Ramen spot in downtown Tulsa. read more

Nothing brings my heart more joy than exploring a new restaurant--especially when serving a new cuisine for Tulsa. So pumped to welcome Roppongi to the foodie scene, with incredible ramen, boba tea and Japanese cuisine. Let's first discuss the vibe--very reminiscent of Japanese pop culture, with hot pink booth seating and colorful wall art. You just FEEL good walking in. Then, the menu. Simple and to the point but so so flavorful. Don't skip the boba teas, I tried the coffee and loved it! The gyoza is another show stopper. Unlike it's usually frozen counterparts at other eateries, you can taste the freshness in both the soft wrapper and creamy tofu filling. The real star is the ramen--we tried the shrimp ramen and miso ramen. The shrimp ramen was spectacular, rich flavorful broth and perfectly cooked shrimp. The miso had an amazing array of veggies, including the pickled shitaki mushrooms, which was delicious on its own. So pretty much, make sure you get those mushrooms in any dish. I ordered a takumi poke bowl and my wife orders soup dumplings. I went on a walk around the building to try and walk off an old injury and to my dismay found that the entire building had some sort of plumbing issue as there was dirty toilet paper fecal water remnants that had poured into the alley from each unit. This really killed what little hope I had left. The pole bowl was listed as being served with eel and ponzu sauce but arrived with some sort of gross sweet mayo and looked completely different from the photo (it looked dull and suspect). I took two small bites of the imitation crab and rice and it was just all wrong and tasted old. I've been hospitalized from bad sushi from a place that was a lot nicer and a lot closer to the ocean than this, so I wasn't about to take my chances with raw fish with this many red flags. My wife's soup dumplings came out with no dipping sauce and looked and tasted suspiciously like they came out of a frozen bag - but at least they were edible. The last straw was that the waitress asked if I wanted a box for my bowl that I clearly didn't touch - and when I said no, she didn't even bother to ask me if something was wrong. So I ended up paying $15 for a bowl I didn't even eat and ended up going to another restaurant to finish dinner. Maybe they have something there worth eating, but I'm not really compelled to give it a second chance.

There's chili oil sitting on the table, I added it to the ramen after a few bites and the ramen is good with + without it. I also tried my partner's Oshinko Roll, that was really refreshing as big chunks of the oshinko sit in the middle of the roll. They were real good with the soy sauce & chili oil. The staff was nice. There service was quick and the food didn't take long. I'll come back to check out the other ramen options to compare to the dry noodle.
