I had already been waiting two months for delivery, so to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Then the panic kicked in. Since it was a custom sectional, I would get majorly dinged if I returned it. But what other options were there? That's where Melo and Sons came in. The delivery guy put me on the phone with his manager to talk it over. Yes, returning the sectional was an option, as was taking out my dining room window to bring the sofa portion in that way (hell no!) Or... I could have some pros disassemble it at their warehouse then reassemble it in my living room. Of my three options, the third was the winner by a longshot. As I was the first delivery of the day, I patiently waited until Melo and Sons opened then gave them a ring. Joanne immediately answered and put my nerves at ease. It was obvious I wasn't the first numpty to purchase a too big piece of furniture that needed saving by them. After providing her all the requested information, I had a delivery date for about three weeks out. By the time my Boston Interiors salesperson called to discuss the failed delivery, everything was already tucked and tied with Melo and Sons. When the big day finally arrived, Mike and George showed up right on time and quickly got to work. They laid down moving blankets to protect the floor then brought up the disassembled sofa in several carefully wrapped pieces. Aside from being the consummate professionals, they were funny to boot. It took them less than two hours to reassemble the sofa and at long last reunite it with its other half. That evening, after three long months, I finally got to relax on and enjoy my sectional in its full glory. All thanks to Melo and Sons and their niche specialty.

Bassy saved my wedding dress and my wedding day!…read more I had originally gone to another tailor recommended by the boutique where I purchased my strapless princess gown. Unfortunately, the work done at the other tailor's shop left my dress butchered. When I realized something was wrong with the original tailoring, it was two months before my wedding. I was distraught because I didn't think a new tailor would take me due to the limited time before my wedding and it being right before bridal and prom season. However, someone recommended I contact Bassy and I'm so grateful for their rec! Bassy listened to my concerns regarding my dress and what the other tailor had planned to do to it, advised me to take back my dress straight away, and booked me for an appointment ASAP. Within a week Bassy had me in her shop to assess all the damage that had been done by the previous tailor: (1) the hem was uneven by inches; (2) the train was lopsided; (3) the bustle was just a loop and a button that would be visible and unsecure; (4) the bodice was taken in so much that three people were needed to zip me up, which (5) left the zipper of my dress straining and puckering; (6) so much of the bust was trimmed away that my chest was exposed whenever I moved; and (7) they made a sash instead of the custom shawl I ordered for my ceremony. The worst part about the original tailoring work is that so much fabric was cut away there was barely any fabric left to correct the shoddy work. My dress was in really horrible shape and I knew I wouldn't be able to find or order another dress in time for my wedding. Despite the multiple problems with my dress, Bassy assured me she would find solutions for the above issues and she did! Bassy evened out the dress' hem by rehemming it and removing a portion of its petticoat to ensure it kissed the floor evenly. For the train, she adjusted it so it would be symmetrical and less oblong. It looked gorgeous trailing behind me as I walked down the aisle. The bodice was a tricky fix, but Bassy executed it perfectly! To expand the bodice, she needed extra fabric and found it within the seam allowance of the bodice's panels. She undid every panel, let out a little bit of fabric from each, and carefully stitched the bodice back up so that each panel was even and proportional. She was able to expand the bodice while also making it look like it hadn't been deconstructed. Bassy's work allowed me to properly breath while wearing my dress and my mother was able to zip me up by herself with no trouble! Bassy also created a custom shawl for me that looked like something Audrey Hepburn would wear! The attention to detail is so incredible! Bassy made the shawl so there was a slight curve in the front that elegantly hugs my collar bone. I love this shawl so much I plan to continue wearing it for special events. The most incredible fix Bassy made to my dress is the bust. I thought I'd have to wear my shawl the entire wedding. Instead, she came up with the incredible idea to build up the bust of my dress with additional fabric. The original bust had a cat eye neckline with draping across it. Bassy was able to expand the bust above my chest and next to my underarms to give me more coverage. She did this by building up fabric that mimics the original bustline's shape. The final result is beautiful! No one would ever know that the work Bassy did was not part of the dress' original design. I'm incredibly grateful for the amazing and transformative work Bassy did to my dress, her professionalism, her expert advice, and her direct and honest communication. She always set realistic expectations and provided alternative solutions that would not compromise the integrity of my dress or its overall style. Bassy is also just a lovely person to be around. I was really sad about the state my dress was left in by the previous tailor. With each visit to Bassy's (and she booked me for as many as needed to get my dress perfect), I felt better and more confident. Bassy saved my dress, my wedding, and my peace of mind.
