I looked everywhere for a leather jacket. I purchased one online for 350 at Thursday boot because it looked great in the pictures but when received it, I found that it was cheaply made. So I went to Rt1 Leather in Danvers, ma now on 114. What a total difference! They have super quality, made in America right there with a wide selection! This leather is thick, with all leather inside pockets and a removable lining. Same price as that piece of crap from Thursday boot that I returned! I'm extremely satisfied! read more

Mixed feelings, although I partly have myself to blame. I have a custom-made, full-grain leather jacket for $319, which is an awesome deal. I'd heard great things about this place, which is apparently a Valhalla for leather apparel in New England, and I wanted a heavier leather jacket suitable for colder weather. They have such a massive selection that I immediately found multiple candidates to try on that met my criteria. But the one I liked best had the wrong collar, and was a bit too narrow through the hips. No worries, they could make the same jacket with a different collar, and they measured my hips for the new jacket. They also made the sleeves slightly shorter and used the lining I liked. When I picked up the jacket, I saw they'd neglected to add the inner lining pocket that I'd specified. They immediately scurried off to the back of the store with my jacket, and before I realized what was happening, I heard the hum of a sewing machine! In their eagerness for me not to leave empty-handed, they created the inner pocket on the fly, within about 15 minutes - but without actually checking first if I really needed it urgently. An admirable gesture; but although the pocket is functional, it was sloppily put together, which upsets me, as I'm a perfectionist and love beautiful details. But after such a prompt and well-intentioned gesture, who was I to complain? So I grudgingly thanked them, paid my balance, and left with my jacket. Which I basically like and will get years of wear out of - although the sloppy, crooked stitching really bothers me. In retrospect I wish I'd either declined the jacket with its hastily cobbled-together inner pocket, or else made it clearer that the pocket could always be added later, and more accurately. Also, the fit in the chest area is a bit poofy; it clearly deviates from the otherwise identical model I tried on, so apparently that area was not cut quite like the reference jacket. And the zipper is a bit misaligned at the bottom, which makes zipping up the jacket frustrating (even though I've greased the teeth). So my verdict is: they use excellent materials, they are extremely service-oriented (to a fault, in my case), their workmanship is 'good' in the sense that there are no loose or dropped stitches, and the construction itself is solid. But aside from the inner pocket issue there is some visible crooked stitching, puckers in the lining, and of course the temperamental zipper is irritating. So I'm about 70% happy with my jacket, which is serviceable and looks great from a distance. But for $319 I really would have preferred to be 100% satisfied, so I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. read more

This new store offers a lot of inventory, the owners will say much more than before with a larger store. They say it is also a safer location. I wanted a vintage styled 50's motorcycle police leather jacket and spent many hour searching on-line. There were jackets in the $125 range that often had complaints about the craftsmanship quality and fit. I remembered US 1 as I had previous work down on another leather jacket. I headed down and told them what I wanted. They measured, provided me with options, and let me select the leather. Was it more expensive than what I found on-line? Yes? Was it worth it? Most definitely! Within 5 days, the jacket was made. It exceeded my expectations. Many seams were double stitched. The zippers appear to indestructible. And the fit is the equivalent to what I get when I have suit tailored. The staff went to all lengths to provide quality service while being friendly and attentive. Would I recommend them again. Even though the store has a large selection of items, the jacket I wanted didn't have my size in stock. I was shocked when I was told they would have one made in a couple of days. Jacket fit perfect, nice quality, even the pockets were leather lined. Price was reasonable. Made in the USA, right at the store ! Owner was extremely nice and very helpful. read more
