Ok look, this is Pasadena. I'm sure there are over 100 "bowl" places within a few square miles. I can't say I've tried them all. But I've tried enough to tell you, this place is something special. Prior to this place, my favorite bowl place is Nektar. After trying this place, sorry Nektar, I think I'm moving on. What I love about this place is the ability to customize, whether it be their bowls, toasts, smoothies, etc. There are different sizes for bowls for different times. Sometimes I just want something small to fill the craving. Sometimes I want a massive 24 ouncer. There's a size for every mood. Then there is an entire list of base you can put in your bowl. You're not limited to just açaí, or pitaya. There are funky things like activated charcoal coconut, matcha green tea, chia pudding, and something called blue majik. You can chose as many as you want. Granted, they aren't freshly blended, but eh, doesn't make a difference to me. Then comes the toppings bar. There are so many different types of nuts, and seeds, and fresh fruits that'll make your head spin. And then to top things all off, they have a warm nut butter station where you can chose from an assorted types of nut butters. And all of this is UNLIMITED! So literally, you can walk away with a 5 pound bowl if you wish. Do I hear a challenge?? Bottom line is, they aren't more expensive than other places, but you're getting so much more for your buck. If they have a loyalty program it would be even better!! I got a small bowl ($7) and was able to mix and match the different bases - pitaya, blue majik, and chia pudding. I loved the thick textures of the pitaya and blue majik! Even on a sunny day, they held up really well and we're not a goopy mess like some other bowls I have tried elsewhere. When I found out this place existed, I was praying for time to go by quick so I could wake up and go the next day. There is a place in OC called Blue Bowl Superfoods that serves EXACTLY the same menu and it's always packed, and living so far from there kept me from going often. After discovering and trying this place, I have to say this one tastes even better.... everything is fresh and the selections are so plentiful.... in this summer weather, this is exactly what you'll need to put you in a state of coolness in every sense of the word. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because some of their female employees could be a bit more friendly. One of them overcharged me and seemed annoyed at me. On other occasions they're not very friendly which kind of feels uncomfortable and takes away from going there but I always manage to shrug it aside because their bowls are amazing. All of the FREE unlimited toppings are fresh and tasty, with servers cutting bananas and strawberries fresh to order. There's also a decent amount of variance - they have 5 or 6 different granola options, 3 types of coconut shreds, 4 types of nut butter, etc. The same goes for the bases, which you can mix and match within a bowl. I got a 12 oz bowl with the regular açaí, matcha green tea and the chia pudding. They were all good, especially the matcha. The staff was friendly, prompt and helpful. First off, ordering and picking up were a little tricky as they didn't pick up phone calls for the curbside pickup and to our surprise, there were no spoons in the bag when we got to the park. Other than that 2/3 orders came out perfect, but they gave us the wrong base for the third. Taste-wise, I really enjoyed this acai bowl and I can really taste the quality. I ordered one with acai + pitaya + overnight oats with a honey almond granola, strawberries + bananas, agave, almond butter and cacao nibs. The acai was not too sweet, combined with the slightly tart pitaya was perfect for me. The overnight oats made it a more hardy breakfast food for me (but I probably won't add this next time to this combination.. too many textures in one bowl for my preference). However, I did love the crunchy texture that the cacao nibs and the granola give. Things I will note, they give a lot of almond butter so if you don't want a mouthful of almond butter at some point maybe ask for less! read more

They have similar bases to blue bowl, açaí, pitaya, matcha, blue chia pudding, etc. Im a big fan of the bee pollen topping which you can't get in most places. I placed my order online so I would be able to show up, pick up and leave because there is really no where convenient to park (this location is in the Mills/McCormic alley). Even though the place is marked as $ I feel it's more on the pricier side but you get fresh quality ingredients. The customer service is great as well. They take the time to cut the ingredients and place them beautifully on top in preparation for instagram worthy pics. There are a lot of toppings to choose from so get your moneys worth and just put as much toppings as possible since you pay by the cup size rather than weight. I love the fresh butter they make: cashew, almond, peanut, etc, so I will usually make sure there is enough room for this butter.
