    Golf clubs
    Chelsie K.

Came here today to get some golf clubs for my husband. The man and lady that helped us was really nice and knowledgeable. The parking is across the street at the parking meters. When the parking meter monitor came to see if anyones meter was expired the lady asked us if our meter was good. That was really nice of her. The golf clubs are a really reasonable price. The store has a wide selection of golf accessories. I would recommend this store to anyone who's into golfing.

Roots & Relics is located on the corner of Richard Street and Merchant Street across the street from the Post Office in Downtown. I'm not an avid golfer anymore, but I did have the daunting task of clearing out my Father's apartment closet that contained golf bags of clubs. Make three golf bags and one travel bag full of miscellaneous clubs. My first thought was, WTH! What are we going to do we all these f'in clubs. That's when I remembered Roots & Relics, one of the only places in Honolulu that buys and sells used golf clubs. Threw all them clubs in the trunk/backseat of his car and headed to R&R the following day. I was hoping to get some decent money for whole bundle, but then they were on the older side so I wasn't expecting much. I found parking in front and got help unloading the clubs. Keith (owner) was outside and assess the clubs outside of the store. One thing I did like was how knowledgeable he was and how he didn't put down the older almost obsolete ones. Keith just calculated what they could resale and gave me a total for the whole thing. I was very pleased with the amount he offered and I accepted his reasonable offer. Lesson learned is why keep unused golf clubs that you could sell or upgrade. Roots & Relics has an unbelievable amount of pre-owned wall to wall golf clubs to check out. Mahalo to Keith and Roots & Relics!

Golf can be an expensive sports to play. Your start up cost for a full set of clubs can range from free ( hand me downs) to several thousand dollars. This all depends on the brand of the clubs of course. If you're working on a budget, Roots & Relics is a great place to checkout. Roots is a small shop stocked with clubs in downtown. They carry mostly used clubs, but do have new ones for sale. If you're visiting from out of town and didn't bring your clubs, you can also rent from them. There are two reasons why I like coming here. First, their customer service is outstanding. They're friendly, not pushy, and give recommendations. Second, their policy on used club purchases. You have the option of returning your club back for a full money back guarantee if you paid with cash. This only applies if you do it within a weeks time. If you paid with credit card, they deduct the processing fee. This is a great policy becuase it gives you the option of trying the club out on the course before finalizing your purchase. They don't have parking for custoners. Metered street parking only. Make sure you put enough into the meter.

Keith Tanaka! You and your staff are amazing people! Walking into Roots and Relics is like walking into a candy store for those crazy golfers that loves this game. Roots and Relics carry tons of used and great condition irons and drivers at affordable prices. They also carry the hottest items in the market like the TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 2.0 at the time of this review. The store is well organized and you'll be approached by their knowledgeable staff that helps you find exactly what you need. Roots and Relics also has a seven day return policy for used driver and irons. No return on new items, but that's obvious. Parking can be tough, but I've been able to find parking at the Post office coin parking lot with no issues each time I come here. You'll find owner Keith Tanaka usually by the front door talking stories to loyal patrons and opening doors with a smile for you.

Big selection of golf clubs. If you can't find it here, you probably don't need it. Great customer service would recommend.

I asked about sale items and he walked to the 50% off clothing sale rack and 50% off Olokai shoe and sandal sale rack. I didn't see anything I liked and he suggested I take a look at the fukubukuro shopping bags that was on sale for $49, regular $125. We walked over there and I told him I already purchased one during the holidays and didn't want to take the chance of purchasing a bag with the same three shirts I already have. I asked if I could open one bag and if the shirts inside were different I would purchase it. Garett said he would call the store manager, to see if that was possible. She was very hesitant and later told Garret she won't approve it. He was willing to call Mike, owner of the store and I told him that's not necessary. I asked Garett if he was on commission and he said yes. I've been a retail manager for many years and this is the type of salespeople I always looked for: Garret wasn't just a salesclerk but one that worked hard at making a sale without being pushy, like a car salesman. If I was still a store manager I would steal Garret away in a heartbeat. He knows sitting around doing nothing won't make you money. If you want to make more than just minimum wage you need to get out there on the sales floor and do what it takes to increase your commission.

I ended up purchasing a set of golf clubs anyway and have been pretty happy with them but I wanted to get a professional's opinion on my shafts, gapping, and lofts. So, I scheduled a club fitting at GolfTec by Ala Moana and was assigned to Justin. Justin was super helpful and didn't make me feel like an idiot. He spoke plainly and at a level I could understand... And he genuinely seemed to love what he did as an instructor and club fitter. He had me hit a couple of 7 irons and looked at what was already in my bag. He said he thought what I had was good for where I'm at but built me an updated version of my 7 iron with a different shaft just to check it out. He must've had it ready because he came back into the room in less than five minutes. He talked me through a couple of things and then showed me some video of myself swinging next to a prerecorded pro. He gave me two tips and said he wouldn't charge me for the visit. I was super grateful. After leaving, I took his tips straight to Ala Wai Driving Range and immediately hit the ball better. Needless to say, I'll be heading back for lessons sometime in the near future. Thanks so much, GolfTec and Justin!

GOLFTEC Honolulu does not teach golf…read more It performs an autopsy on it. You walk in hoping to build a swing and leave feeling like you attended a quarterly shareholder meeting hosted inside an Apple Store for the spiritually defeated. Five lessons. Five. Thirty minutes each, though calling them "lessons" feels generous. Fifteen minutes spent staring at video replays while a low-energy instructor murmured biomechanical observations with the haunted charisma of a man whose soul had been repossessed by middle management. The other fifteen minutes? Hitting balls under the supervision of someone who looked deeply inconvenienced by the existence of sunlight. No passion. No instinct. No violence. No art. Only screens. Endless glowing screens worshipped by men who think athleticism can be manufactured through software subscriptions and swing-path diagrams. GolfTEC treats the golf swing like a hostage negotiation: careful, clinical, terrified of emotion. But golf is not a spreadsheet. Golf is rhythm. It is timing. It is seduction wrapped around controlled brutality. The swing should feel like drawing a sword beneath candlelight--not assembling IKEA furniture with a traumatized consultant explaining hip rotation. And then came the real insult. One lesson with an actual PGA professional. One hour. No corporate jargon. No rehearsed sales cadence. No technological séance around a glowing monitor pretending to decode the secrets of human movement. The man watched me swing for minutes, not months, then immediately found the rot: too much thinking, not enough motion. Suddenly: the transition flowed, the club released naturally, distance appeared effortlessly, the strike sounded different. Alive. That was the cruelest part. Not realizing GolfTEC was mediocre. Realizing how quickly a real teacher exposed how utterly hollow the entire experience had been. GolfTEC sells the illusion of precision to golfers too afraid to trust feel. A luxury prison for athleticism. A mausoleum of data where rhythm goes to die. Avoid - go get real lessons and improve .
