Roots & Relics - Golf Equipment Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

This place has the nicest people. The lady there went through a bunch of clubs to find the ones I wanted. The prices are basically what you might find for used clubs on Ebay, except you get your club right away and no shipping because it's LOCAL! You can test out the club for a week and if you don't like it, pay 3% of the club price to return! If it's a set of irons, then $20 to return. AMAZING! I can't wait to try out these clubs I got. So happy places like these exist! read more

Tonight July 1, 2025, they announced Roots & Relics is closing once the lease expires. For many years it was my favorite retail store. I spent a lot of time to find the right tools, especially, the driver. Thank you Keith, Claudia and the team for keeping the dream alive in my quest to enjoy a game I love. Wishing you all the best in the next adventure. See you on the 19th hole. A housing hour. Gary Fujitani read more

A great spot for gear junkies who want to search for a gem! I could spend hours in the shop hunting for the next find!

Came in here with questions, left with answers and a new to me set of golf clubs at a fair price! Will be back! Such a great place. Told others and they came and shopped also. read more

Super friendly and helpful staff. Great used equipment and fair prices. Been going here for years =)

Came here today to get some golf clubs for my husband. The man and lady that helped us was really nice and knowledgeable. The parking is across the street at the parking meters. When the parking meter monitor came to see if anyones meter was expired the lady asked us if our meter was good. That was really nice of her. The golf clubs are a really reasonable price. The store has a wide selection of golf accessories. I would recommend this store to anyone who's into golfing. read more

Best golf store in Honolulu! Great selection of new and used golf equipment and friendly staff. Go see Keith he'll take great care of you!

Roots & Relics is located on the corner of Richard Street and Merchant Street across the street from the Post Office in Downtown. I'm not an avid golfer anymore, but I did have the daunting task of clearing out my Father's apartment closet that contained golf bags of clubs. Make three golf bags and one travel bag full of miscellaneous clubs. My first thought was, WTH! What are we going to do we all these f'in clubs. That's when I remembered Roots & Relics, one of the only places in Honolulu that buys and sells used golf clubs. Threw all them clubs in the trunk/backseat of his car and headed to R&R the following day. I was hoping to get some decent money for whole bundle, but then they were on the older side so I wasn't expecting much. I found parking in front and got help unloading the clubs. Keith (owner) was outside and assess the clubs outside of the store. One thing I did like was how knowledgeable he was and how he didn't put down the older almost obsolete ones. Keith just calculated what they could resale and gave me a total for the whole thing. I was very pleased with the amount he offered and I accepted his reasonable offer. Lesson learned is why keep unused golf clubs that you could sell or upgrade. Roots & Relics has an unbelievable amount of pre-owned wall to wall golf clubs to check out. Mahalo to Keith and Roots & Relics! read more

Big selection of golf clubs. If you can't find it here, you probably don't need it. Great customer service would recommend.

Great selection of golf clubs! Love this place I bought a nice set for myself and my daughter. Friendly knowledgeable staff and best value for golf equipment in town! Also love that they are locally owned and operated. read more

A great selection of everything and so many great deals! We ended up purchasing a 3 wood, and she was incredibly helpful, especially since we were coming from a different island. She took the time to find a box for us and even provided bubble wrap. She truly went above and beyond, and she was the sweetest! We can't wait to shop here again! read more

Service was great. Nice selection of golf clubs. Bought a set of irons for $125. Hard to find senior flex clubs was found. She knew exactly what clubs were read more

Golf can be an expensive sports to play. Your start up cost for a full set of clubs can range from free ( hand me downs) to several thousand dollars. This all depends on the brand of the clubs of course. If you're working on a budget, Roots & Relics is a great place to checkout. Roots is a small shop stocked with clubs in downtown. They carry mostly used clubs, but do have new ones for sale. If you're visiting from out of town and didn't bring your clubs, you can also rent from them. There are two reasons why I like coming here. First, their customer service is outstanding. They're friendly, not pushy, and give recommendations. Second, their policy on used club purchases. You have the option of returning your club back for a full money back guarantee if you paid with cash. This only applies if you do it within a weeks time. If you paid with credit card, they deduct the processing fee. This is a great policy becuase it gives you the option of trying the club out on the course before finalizing your purchase. They don't have parking for custoners. Metered street parking only. Make sure you put enough into the meter. read more

Keith Tanaka! You and your staff are amazing people! Walking into Roots and Relics is like walking into a candy store for those crazy golfers that loves this game. Roots and Relics carry tons of used and great condition irons and drivers at affordable prices. They also carry the hottest items in the market like the TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 2.0 at the time of this review. The store is well organized and you'll be approached by their knowledgeable staff that helps you find exactly what you need. Roots and Relics also has a seven day return policy for used driver and irons. No return on new items, but that's obvious. Parking can be tough, but I've been able to find parking at the Post office coin parking lot with no issues each time I come here. You'll find owner Keith Tanaka usually by the front door talking stories to loyal patrons and opening doors with a smile for you. read more

Really good prices and people working are helpful and easy to talk to. I've heard they let you try out used clubs and you can bring them back. I haven't tried it yet but plan on doing it soon. Forgot to mention they have a bunch of clubs to go through. Honestly too many and being a beginner it can be hard to know where to start. read more

Great place to buy and sell clubs. Friendly people. They try to help you find what you need. Sometimes you can find really good quality things at a decent price. Might be able to find it cheaper online but buying local is always a good idea. One week to test and return clubs but they charge a small fee for a refund rather than exchange. read more

I don't know how to golf but I walked in the store with a friend who wanted to get a set of clubs, and I also ended leaving with a set of clubs. So I guess I'm about to learn. The staff is Really helpful, and in this crazy shop filled with tons of clubs, they seem to know where everything is. I wish I knew more about golf to tell you about what they have but I don't. I got a old set of cobra ladies clubs for $80. And a bag for $75. My friend for a set for $20. Good place to go for whatever random golf needs you have and for beginners who just need a foot in the door, the prices here are good to get whatever and start on this expensive golf journey! read more

I love this place! My sister always refers people to this place, and now I know why. The people that work there are so nice and knowledgable about everything about golf, and you can tell that they actually LIKE their job and its not JUST a job. I love those kinds of people. I got my first set of golf clubs here, and I love it! They have good prices, and if you are lucky you can score Used but NEW golf clubs! This is an awesome place to find a set of used golf clubs. I brought one of my girlfriends here after she went to get pricing on a brand new set. We were assisted by a very knowledgeable guy. He took us straight to the irons, explained about the set that was available price $150 (snap, got that), then he pulled a driver and 5 wood talk to us about this pair Taylor made burner which he said was rarely available, he explained a little about this set of clubs driver $100, 5 wood $75 (snap, got that) moved onto putters, he explained about this Putter (we liked it cause it was purple)$50 (snap, got that), finally a golf bag I thought she should get a light bag. He happen to have one. $45 With tax she walked out of there paying less than $450 What a deal for a full set of clubs. She would have spent well over a $1000 at a golf shop. A strong Yay in Coming here if you need a set of clubs and not breaking your piggy bank. read more

Roots & Relics - All this for under $500 is such a value. - Golf Equipment Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

Walked in to buy a complete set of golf clubs, gentlemen immediately asked me a few questions, then gave me simple options. In addition, they gave my seven year old son a set of new golf balls, and a childen's size 7 iron. What a service! read more

Okay, for me a barely ever golfer. I just basically golf when my friends come from Japan or some Company Golf tournament I get coerced into playing at. So basically I want a good decent set but don't want to pay a arm and leg for to enhance what a terrible golfer I am or is it to bring out what a terrific golfer that's in me. oh whatever... Anyway this is the place you can get your Clubs name brand mind you for a decent price. I first had some no name brand and it felt like I was hitting rocks with it so I upgraded and you know what I think I got better :-P well I at least believed so. The people working at Roots & Relics were very helpful since me being at a total loss what to get helped me and suggested a set to get me going for my next round of hacking when my friends came to visit. I have to hand it to the staff because I really believe that the clubs I selected made me actually get par once Whoo! that's good for me!! I Swear the staff even gave me pointers on my swing. Parking is a bit of a challenge unless you work downtown but the Post Office parking lot is next door and you could always walk a bit for other parking lots. But it is well worth it! Thanks Roots & Relics! read more

Roots and Relics is always a good place to stop for your ALL golf needs. New and used clubs that are always at a bargain price. Somtimes, the used clubs are almost brand new. Bought a solid Callaway driver from here for $75 rather than buying one for $300 like I originally planned from Sports Authority. Only thing that takes away the 1 star is like everyone said, the parking. I feel like you have to want to come to this store to come here, searching for parking or paying downtown rates if the post office is full. read more

Looking of new golf clubs? Need to try out the clubs before purchasing? Looking for a good deal? Located downtown across from the post office and HECO is Roots and Relics. They have tons of selection of pre-owned clubs. Some are obscure and some are brand new. Looking for that hard to find club? Try here first. The owner usually hangs outside on the corner greeting people and giving appraisals for clubs people have come to sell or trade-in. There really is no parking. We usually park at the post office metered parking right across the street. Of course parking here can get brutal at lunch or after work, so plan accordingly. read more

Roots & Relics - Golf Equipment Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

The ultimate shop for the golfer. More used clubs than you will find anywhere, also new clubs. And you can evem take them out for a test drive by putting down a few dollars. If you like them, you can then buy them, if not, it only cost you a few bucks to find out they were not for you. Not only do they sell clubs, they also buy clubs and will take your clubs in trade for any that you find in the shop. R & R started as a small shop in downtown Honolulu and became so popular that it is now in much larger quarters with golfers waiting at the door when it opens each morning. The sales folks will do all they can to get you what you want and at a price that is agreeable to all. You very well may see clubs in R & R that you have not seen anywhere elses, some that you may have had when you first started. A fun place to visit if you love golf......or if you love/hate golf. read more

Wow so happy I stopped in. Great service and super helpful. Saved me a ton of money being a beginner and not knowing anything about clubs. The other store tried selling me clubs for over $1000! Thank you Roots & Relics! Like the rest of the reviews on Yelp, this place is really awesome read more

Great staff, fair prices, and the most amazing used inventory is what sets Root's & Relics apart from other golf shops. I grew up waiting with the crowds on a Saturday morning in the 90s with my Grandfather looking for clubs at this wonderful shop, and I'm glad to see it's still around toddy. I haven't been into the store for a few years, but recently was looking for a set of irons. Low and behold they had exactly what I was looking for at the perfect price. I quickly made my purchase knowing that I could return within a week for my money back ( minus $20 fee) it was a win win. Happy to support businesses like these, and will continue to do so for years to come. read more

Rating: 4/5 Dates visited: 3/13/2012, a hand full of times before. Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Parking: 2/5 Wasn't able to find what I wanted, but service was great. Never pressured to buy anything here. Service: Friendly and helpful. Atmosphere: Seems that more organization is needed at this shop. Feels too jam packed with boxes that you can't move around inside the shop. One thing that comes to mind when I step in this store..a golf hoarders dream of various golfing necessities. Price: If you're lucky, and you're here at the right time, you can strike some gold...maybe even platinum. Parking: Metered parking @ the post office & along nearby streets. I was taking golf classes at UH a few years back and was recommended by my instructor to go to this store.I wanted to continue playing golf after the semester ended but I didn't have any golf clubs. I haven't been to other golf stores so I can't really say they are the best but what I can say is that they have great customer service. I came with a friend and we looked like a couple of deers in headlights. There were so many clubs to look at, we didn't know where to start. Fortunately, someone noticed our confused faces immediately upon entering and came to us for assistance. I didn't feel any pressure to purchase anything from this employee which was great because I could take my time. Anyway, being a lefty, I thought that they had a few to choose from but was I wrong. Although minute in comparison to the amount of right hand clubs displayed in the store, there were enough left-handed clubs for me to choose from. I decided to purchase a set, with it, a golf bag, both used. I hoped that purchasing it would force me to continue playing golf, or at least to hit balls at the driving range. I purchased it for $30 and thought that it was good price, unless someone else can tell me I got ripped? Anyway, if you searching for golf clubs -used or new- come here. It's right across the post office. As for parking, it's in downtown so come during non-busy hours and hopefully you'll find parking. read more

Probably the best place on the island to shop for golf equipment! I picked up the Mizuno MP-60, 3-pw, for $200.00 and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. Although it said they were "used", it looked like it was only hit once, maybe twice, on the range. Also, picked up a Mizuno 56* wedge for 50 dollars, again practically unused. Overall, if I bought these clubs online or at another store I probably would've spent hundreds more and they probably would've been used. Customer service, to me, is one of the most important factors in deciding if I want to buy something from that store. This was my first visit to the store and most definitely won't be my last. Amazing customer service! They are always making sure you're doing okay or if you have any questions, without pressuring you to buy, unlike some other golf shops here on the island. If you're thinking about taking up golfing, I would definitely recommend you come here when looking to purchase your first set. Plus you get to SUPPORT LOCAL! read more

This is a terrific store to buy quality golfing equipment and accessories at a reasonable price. The store has a huge (and somewhat overwhelming) selection of golf clubs, bags, and accessories.
