Newbie to golf and had a couple of clubs that my husband bought me to get me started. The grip for one was getting pretty nasty, so I found Asao Golf and contacted them for pricing. Kellen got back to me quickly and the cost for regripping was reasonable. I went around opening and he was able to regrip them for me right there (vs waiting a few days). Super easy process and I thought he was friendly and helpful, as I know nothing about golf or how to pick a new grip. Definitely recommend going to them again! read more

Quick turnaround with clubs and grips. Very communicative if orders are delayed. Thank you for your service!

Kellen is an expert club fitter and makes great recommendations that will change your golf game forever! For example years ago he introduced me to Fujikura Ventus velocore driver shafts which provide unbelievable performance and consistency. Recently he fitted me with Fujikura axiom velocore graphite shafts for my new callaway ai300 apex irons. The feel and performance of that whole package is truly a game changer with results I've never experienced in golf before. When callaway is running their generous trade in program Kellen is the guy to see as he also gives 10% off all new clubs! His fittings also don't cost you hundreds of dollars like his competitors charge. I could go on and on you'll see. read more

My daughter (13) has been taking swing lessons here for a couple of years now. She enjoys Coach Shane's feedback and technical expertise. Highly recommend! read more

I had a fitting session with Kellen in December 2024. Picked up new driver in January 2025. Finally was able to hit the driver on the course last week. Only one drive went into the rough, but at least the lie wasn't that bad. All the other drives were consistent in both distance and direction. After the first few drives, it gave me confidence hitting the ball and didn't have any thoughts about hitting my drive into the hazards. Thank you Kellen for fitting me with this driver!!!! read more

I like to support local/small businesses. However today I was very disappointed. I am sure by the previous reviews that Mr. Asao is a great instructor. But his club fitter, needs to learn a little bit more of customer service. Not welcoming, very standoffish. Came there for help in regripping the clubs, checking lofts/lie. And when I was unsure of grip size & what were the lie, seemed like a crime I didn't know. That's why I wanted to check what they were. I had lost the original assessment/specs that Taylormade Performance center had built my clubs to. I just wanted to check. Then we start to write up the ticket and says 3-4 business days! Wow! Maybe if he wasn't watching the Genesis he would be able to catch up. Sorry - Gave my business to another business. read more

This review is for the fitter. I purchased two adapters, one grip, and install. $120. Though I should of asked for a quote, just from his uninviting demeanor I doubt he was going to share that part willingly. I've had the same exact work done for other clubs and it was half the price. If you want work done on your clubs and would like to leave feeling like you've been ripped off. This place is for you. read more

Small pro shop with a decent selection. Staff are friendly and helpful. Convenient location on a driving range.

Kellen was very knowledgeable and honest with his recommendations. He was able to build my set of clubs, re-shafting and altering specs as needed to personalise the fit. He met all the deadlines promised and was very personable with fabulous customer service. I would highly recommend his services as he is very skilled in what he does. read more

Great locally-owned golf shop located in Harbor Center - Aiea. Easy access and ample free parking. Asao's carry golf supplies, and offer lessons as well as golf club repair services. They also have a wide selection of Hydro Flask (#refillforgood)! The owner is friendly and easy to talk to. I had items on back order, during this pandemic chaos, and he reached out to me to provide me updates. I appreciated his communication and customer service. Check out Asao's Golf and shop local! Service was awesome. My wife wasn't sure about the length of her putter & putter grip and they helped fit her. They shorten her putter and put on a great new grip. They gave her some great golf tips too. My wife was so happy. Thanks guys and Happy Holidays read more

The golf instructor is friendly and very welcoming, but the idiot who does the repair of clubs is a arrogant asshole. Went there to get a quote for repair and with his stupid attitude will never go there again!!! read more

It would be a better place to do business if the attitude and service was much positive than arrogant. I just wanted to get my sticks checked for loft & lie adjustments as from past experiences with some manufactures don't exactly follow your order online. As an employee who deals with customers all day I realize that if you hate your job find one that will make you a better person everyday instead of being unhappy throughout. read more

Excellent service, always nice to support local small businesses. There is a selection of various products that can help you on the course. They offer lessons too if you are looking to improve your skills! read more

Kellen has done all of my re-gripping over the years. He knows what he is doing and also has a large inventory of grips and shafts. I believe he also gives golf lessons. He is very reasonable with his prices, very polite and a good person. read more

Went in to check the loft/lie of used clubs I recently purchased. Kellen let me know the best way to do that was for a scheduled fitting. So, made an appt for a few days later. Once at appt, he had me in front of the track man, hit a few balls, and then he offered his ideas/thoughts. We agreed on what work was needed on the clubs and 3-4 days later clubs were ready for pick up. Will definitely be back for all my golfing needs! Awesome to get good quality service/work and at the same time support local!! Mahalo Kellen! read more

Went to see Kellen Asao once or twice to see if he could fix my dreaded "S" word that all golfers experience... (shank). Kellen is a very accomplished and elite golfer who made me feel extremely comfortable and NOT embarrassed at all during our lesson! He helped me a ton and honestly helped to improve my game by at least a few strokes! Whether you are a beginner or seasoned vet, I recommend Kellen for all demographics. Kellen isn't going to try and uproot your swing or make you feel silly, he offers suggestions while using high tech to come alongside the golfer to educate and aid! 10/10 recommend! read more

Kellen took to time to work with my daughter and get her fitted for clubs that not only work for her now, but gave her time to grow/develop her swing. We will be using Asao Golf from here on out for our golf needs as they are trustworthy, reliable, and have a true sense of professionalism and aloha when working with student-athletes and parents. read more

Professional top-quality service. Solid products and amazing lessons. Kellen is the best!

Their new location at Newtown Driving Range is perfect! Staff & owner are so helpful!

Kellen is professional in all aspects. Besides being a local teaching pro, he is very professional in and out of the shop. He has a Trackman to get you properly fitted. He also knows how to use these numbers to make recommendations whether it's your swing or hardware. Trust worthy and honest! read more

Went in to change out a set of shafts, came out with a minor (less expensive option) adjustment to try first before sinking a bunch of $$$ trying something I didn't know was going to fix my issue...Kellan is da man! Gives great knowledge/advice to really help you make better decisions. I live at the opposite end of the island but will gladly drive over for his awesome service! read more

Super helpful and convenient. $5 to regrip my putter and they did it right then and there. Couldn't be happier

After reading the reviews online, and a recommendation from a friend. I checked out Asao golf for a club repair I needed done. Kellen was friendly, and offered to fix the club while I waited. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. He seemed to have a large variety of grips, and shafts for sale as a Fujikura authorized dealer. When I'm in the market for a new shaft I'll be sure to come back and support this business. read more

Reasonable price. Professional craftsmanship when placing a new shaft on my 7-iron. Measured flex , length, and weight perfectly. 4 working days it was done. read more

Very reasonable and friendly. Always going the extra mile to help you. Like the new location which has lots of free parking.

If I played golf, I'd probably be at this shop every week. Kellen is a very trust-worthy person so I'm not surprised all the reviews are 5 stars. BEST HYDRO FLASK PRICES ON THE ISLAND!!! That's the main reason I went in today. I heard about the Hydro flask craze and had to get in on it. I went to Don Quixote and the swap meet but Kellen's prices were still cheaper!! He has every size and color and all the accessories that come with it too. Thank you Kellen! So happy and helpful too!! read more

I called their just for to get general information for when we visit Hawaii again, my relatives live nearby. Whoever answers the phone, and older female , did not seem to want to work there or something. It was a humbug/drag to even ask questions at such a slow pace. Holy crap its like the twilight zone! Any brand other than callaway is what they have supposedly yet they advertise like they have it all. im so confused with all the crap they have for sale like flasks too..Do they have scrunchies for sale too? OMG they need to have a more professional presence because after my call, Im too confused to even go there. Im feeling like its a convenience store. read more

Sorry folks for the late review. I took my golf clubs for repair (re-gripping and flatten club lies) in the past couple months ago. The owner is Mr. Kellen Asao. Kellen is also an accomplish golfer in his own right. Bottom line is that he did a good job repairing my golf clubs and I just want to acknowledge his good work and honesty. His prices are a bit higher than Roger Dunn; but, at least he takes the time to repair my clubs correctly. Roger Dunn totally sucks! Roger Dunn at Pearl City location totally screwed-up my clubs. Anyhow, I recommend Asao Golf and Mr. Kellen Asao. Kellen will NOT disappoint you! Thank you for reading my review. I hope this helps all golfers. Disclosure: Kellen Asao is not my friend. I do not receive any kick-back and/or any benefits from this review. read more

-Re-gripped my clubs here, and was pleasantly surprised that I could watch the owner (Kellen) do the repair. I usually go to Roger Dunn where they just take my clubs in the back. Therefore, I'm always worried about whether my clubs will get scratched or if I'm getting the same clubs back. You never know nowadays! This will be my permanent spot for club repair. Fast, quality service, and I love supporting local business. -Parking is free right in front of the shop. -This is the old "Golf Stix." -It's reassuring to know that the owner who repairs the clubs actually knows how to play golf. Apparently, he won the Manoa Cup as an amateur! read more

Finally got a fitting for my 9 year old irons. Kellen is very knowledgeable and helpful in deciding what's best for you and your game. He asks the right questions about your game, like whether the ball flight he is shown on his awesome track man is desired or not. Based on that he had his recommendation. Quick and friendly service, any club repair it'll be here. If I decide on lessons I will definitely give him a shot. read more

Kellen knows his stuff! Super reasonable pricing. Quick turnarounds. Most trustworthy and easy to talk to. He's the best!!

Staff wear masks and they're only allowing drop-off and pick up for repairing grips. Dropped it off Monday after work and was told it would be done Wednesday. I didn't mind because Kellan said there was a lot of orders and reading all the reviews I knew it would be done right. Got called today (Tuesday) saying it's was ready. Was able to leave work early so it worked out. Love the work that was done and at a good price. The clubs are something my late grandfather so having them redone so I can use them means the world to me. Thank you so much! read more

I needed to get my putter shortened and re-gripped, so I decided to give this place a try. I was there at 9:00 but they hadn't opened yet. I waited till 9:15 and was about to leave when the owner showed up. It was worth the wait. He let me in the store to look around while he got settled then showed me the different options they have for putter grips. By 9:30, I was on the road with my shortened, newly-gripped putter for $15.71. I expected to pay more, but he didn't charge me to cut two inches off the shaft. I'm very pleased and would definitely go back for future club repairs. read more

Needed help with my driver today. Kellen did a great job helping me find what I needed. He put me on the launch monitor to see what kind of golf shaft would fit me the best. The one that I had was making my golf ball spin too much. Ordered a new golf shaft. Can't wait to try it out. read more

I was scheduled for an afternoon fitting to make adjustments to a new set of clubs that were ordered from the manufacturer. originally the clubs were custom fitted and ordered, but the clubs did not meet my previous yardage and needed some adjustments to the lie and loft. showed up at the appointment time and the apt. was not scheduled in, after confirming the time. come to find out and was not notified they could not adjust left handed clubs- an important bit of information that was left out. also the fitter was not present on site to the fitting. they told me to come back the following day to be fitted by Kellen.when i called to confirm the following day, i was told he was participating at the Mid-Pac tournament. and I was still not scheduled to be fitted the following day even though there was a verbal agreement from the prior day ( in person at the shop). this place was recommended by a friend as great place and professional. I would disagree, Kellen never reached out for an explanation of the disorder he caused. read more

Small spot but this guy know what he's doing! I bought some P790s with the dynamic gold X100 130g shafts and I couldn't keep a ball on the green to save my life. He installed the new True Temper Elevate shafts and I'm getting way mor distance and hitting greens in regulation. Lessons are super cheap and he's super easy going. I sliced my driver a lot and he pointed out it was all in my setup and take away.. simple stuff. Extended my back swing and I'm playing a lot better golf.
