For awhile now, I have been having issues with my driver and felt that the feel was to stiff. Went to see Ivan and explained what the issue was. He asked me if I was fitted for the driver etc. So he places it on the machine and checks out (CPM's) and discovers that it is actually testing out as a X-Stiff shaft. The he checks the length and discovers that the length is actually 44.5 so he explains that when the club was manufactured they must have got the specs wrong, thus quite possibly turning shift from stiff to X-Stiff. So Ivan made some suggestions as to what he could do. Found a shaft. Went back in, put me on TrackMan. 2-3 MPH average CH, and just better overall metrics. So a little background first. I recently did a Titleist fitting session that really didn't go well in terms of me buying new clubs. However, the fitter, Jarryd Gano suggested that I take my existing Titleist Clubs to Aloha Golf Center and have the lofts adjusted. To say I was a little apprehensive was an accurate statement...my previous experience at Aloha Golf was indifferent. Not bad...but not great either. (I took a lesson a few years ago and I didn't go back for the follow-ups) just didn't get the warm and fuzzies.... Called today and Ivan took me right in. He checked the lofts on my clubs and found that they were 1 degree stronger that the company specs. After returning the 7 iron to spec, Ivan worked with me for well over an hour, working on my swing and making sure that getting the club to spec was the correct way to go. More importantly he wanted to make sure that I achieved the desired results, which meant taking the operator error out of the equation. I am now completely sold on using Aloha Golf for all of my repair needs. I'm planning on taking in some other clubs to have the lofts checked and will likely use them in the near future for new grips. I'm glad that I took a muligan on Aloha Golf....just like being on the golf course, teeing it up a second time, I hit it 270 straight down the middle. read more

I called to have a fitting done for a new driver shaft. I talked to Joey and he set a time for me to come down. He set me up with Trackman and i was able to see my numbers. He took the time to explain what each number represented. After seeing my numbers it showed basically, i had a flat swing. I was swinging my driver around my back. He gave me a tip that I needed to take the club back out like i was hitting a cut. I saw my back swing on trackman and yes, i could see the difference. He suggested i go to the driving range to practice this cut swing before he felt good about fitting me. He asked me to comeback after i hit a few baskets. I came back the following week and he fitted me for the correct shaft that would help me. I'm very thankful to Joey as he spent the time to basically help me fix my swing and fit me for the correct shaft. I played the next week and hit my driver the best i did in 3 years! Although the shaft made a difference, i feel the tip he gave me along with the shaft made the bigger difference. I recommend going down to Aloha golf and get fitted for the right equipment. On a recommend from Earl Ching since being out of golf for 7 years and my club guy Richard Dizon fully retired, stopped by to re-shaft a set of irons given to me by Corey Okamura. Bought the DG X100's online through amazon, had the Mizuno MP54's re-shafted4-pw, Cleveland 52,56,60 re-shafted with DGs400's. Also put on some new grips.. Adam and TJ did a great job! Fast, fitted well, grips well done and positioned! Highly recommend this place for any repairs or lessons! Now hope I still have a golf swing to play decent! read more

This is a place that I don't ever hesitate to suggest to my friends, because when you visit Aloha Golf Center you don't feel like it's a store. More like a clubhouse where you talk about the latest and greatest clubs, try them out, get feedback by a pro and then buy clubs that fit your swing. If your swing isn't that consistent then they also offer lessons. =P They offer the whole range of services from simple re-gripping to shaft installations and even putter fitting, which in my opinion everyone should get done. As some of the other reviews pointed out, they carry a lot of stuff for a small store. Which is great because you can compare the whole gamut of clubs with the aid of a pro, versus hitting a bunch of clubs by yourself. Optimized clubs for maximum performance, pretty much sums up what the guys at Aloha Golf Center are doing. I love the concept and I also I like the clean, well-lit and organized shop. The location can be a bit tricky if you are not familiar with the area, but just remember that Aloha Golf Center is on the second floor of the City Square Shopping center. There is only one two story building in the area so that should help a bit. There are some restaurants such as Sugoi's and Ha Long, at which you can grab a bite as well. read more

First time getting fitted for club(s). It was a great experience and would recommend. I made an appointment and we started early/on time. I hit about 5-6 different drivers. The data and statistics were fully explained to me. Everything made sense and feel like I got a mini-lesson too. After hitting 75+ balls, we got it narrowed down to a particular driver. I'm about to make a year into golf I've decided to get fitted for iron clubs. Went to see Adam to analyze my swing then again with different shafts and heads. Noticed a two club distance difference gain between my old "razr x hl to the new "mizuno jpx 900 hotmetal" and also the FEEL! Immediately I just felt so good and it boosted my confidence. I am shorter than standard height 5'6" so I had my club shortened and lie slightly adjusted. Now I've taken out the variable that it can't be my club length/lie error but only me if I hit bad shots. Go see Adam and you won't regret, you won't feel rushed, and you'll learn a little something during the fitting. ***I do RECOMMEND before getting fitted you know how to get a good golf swing and hit solid contact with the ball*** Take some lessons here! The 1 hour it takes to get fit will seem way too short if you're not getting crisp shots for the track man and to get the "feels" you need feel. Awesome golf shop, went in for a overall fitting throughout my bag with Adam. Very detailed and accurate club fitting with launch monitor numbers and explanations. Tested a bunch of different shafts and ended up with Nippon Modus X Shafts. He was very honest and told me that my current club set up was up to date technology wise and just recommended some different shafts for my irons and wedges. After analyzing my swing and picking out the shafts that suited me best and that I liked the feel of, Adam gave me an accurate estimate and eta on the installation. All work was done on time and I am extremely satisfied with the results. I'm extremely satisfied with the Experience that I had today with aloha golf particularly with Adam it's very very fun to see someone who is genuinely kind and above all doesn't try to upsell you on the product when that's his business after all , Got fitted for driver well actually I went in try to see if I should replace my driver with another driver since it's very old and After taking a closer look at about six different clubs Adam told me that there is nothing that would be substantially improve my yardage or trajectory , The only club that made a tiny difference was a brand name driver that together with the shaft would have cost me about 800-900$ , I would've gladly bought it , however Adam said that if it was up to him he would've not invest the money since it isn't a huge improvement on the distance or direction , I mean that's pretty awesome , Went to pay for my fitting ( 100$ ) and He insisted to not charge me since he couldn't really get me a product that improved my drive , I ended up buying product just the not feel terrible , Will come back here once I need anything . This is pretty much the place to go if you want good golf equipment on Oahu. Adam has been a great help whenever I've gone in there. He did my club fitting a couple years back and felt like he guided me well in the right direction when choosing what set to get. They have a ton of performance shafts for those interested in getting the most out of their woods. I've been very happy with mine, a Tour AD BB shaft that I've had for a couple years now, so happy that they probably wonder at times where I have went. Went to have the lie of my Taylormade P790 irons flattened. Shane adjusted them for me and he told me to try hitting them before I left. He watched me swing and even put me on the Trackman to see how I was hitting it. He gave me a few pointers and I started to swing a little better. I started playing again 10 months ago after not playing much the past 10 years(like 5 times) so my swing felt out of wack. I asked about the Callaway Epic driver and he told me I could swing the demo model he had. After swinging a few, he let me try a new Taylormade driver and Mizuno driver with a couple of different shafts. Needless to say I was blown away but the new Fujikura Atmos Tour Spec shaft with the Mizuno ST190G head. I have a Callaway Rogue with a reg flex shaft that I tend to fade a lot. I can't usually feel any kick with that shaft. Went to the Fujikura Atmos ,blue mid-launch, 6S shaft with Mizuno head and immediately felt the difference. Trackman showed I was having no problem drawing the ball which got me excited. I ordered the club right then and there! As part of my bucket list, finally went in to get a new set of professional versus knock-off clubs. Told Adam that I just needed some irons (7,8,9,pw) for now since I rarely use the other irons when playing. Also, maybe I needed new woods to replace the Taylor-made burners that I had gotten from another shop. Adam fitted me with new shafts for the irons and adjusted the angle of the club head for my swing. After the analysis which included use of the Trackman and the tape thing at the bottom of the irons, we (because I depended upon Adam's expertise) decided to get the irons as I requested and, for now, forego getting new woods and pick up the other irons later if needed. Today, 4/18/17, I finally got to test my new clubs (Taylor-made M2) on the course as Adam recommended as opposed to testing on the trackman or on the driving range. The carrying distance that I got from the new irons were about two clubs distance longer (of course), than my old clubs. The shafts made the feel of hitting the irons much more comfortable and seemingly more "powerful". Now I know that I have the equipment to lower my scores, if I practice more for consistent ball striking. Went to Aloha Golf Center for a lesson thinking they could help with my slice. TJ was the instructor and did nothing more than put me on Trackman and asked what I thought of my swing. I spent one hour doing nothing more than hitting balls and TJ telling me everything looks good. I was even hitting shanks and he did nothing but look at Trackman. Total waste of money. If you want to improve your game, go see a PGA professional. I went to Ko Olina and they fixed my slice in one lesson! Don't waste your time or money at Aloha Golf Center. read more

pretty poor service on replacing the shaft on my driver, dropped on 2 May, 2016. TJ was going to replace it at that time, I opted for pick up the afternoon of 3 May, 2016. Showed up at 2:30pm. Was recommended by a friend to come in to get a new set of irons. I had been using the same set since high school and was due for an upgrade and something that better fit my swing. I made an appointment with Adam who was able to analyze my swing, and find out what I wanted in my new set. I never felt rushed or pushed towards buying anything. Review for Lesson from TJ Kua - I play golf about once a week and started to notice that I wasn't hitting the ball as well as I should (loss in distance, dispersion +/- 10 yards left or right). I guess when you start to play a lot, you look at minute details in your game. Due to some good reviews I read on Yelp about Aloha Golf Center (AGC), I decided to try to get a lesson from their in-house instructor. I do admit I have always been skeptical about getting golf instruction. Why pay someone to teach you something that may totally screw you up? However, I did decide to take the risk and go into AGC for a lesson a couple of weeks ago. TJ Kua is probably younger than I am (I'm 29!). But make no mistake this guy is an accomplished player and knows golf swing fundamentals inside and out. Furthermore, he tries his best to work around you current swing and can easily spot small deficiencies in your setup, backswing, transition, etc. In minutes, he made suggestions to improve my setup position. After making the setup corrections, I was hitting crisp iron shots more consistently than I ever have before. I just tested out what I learned from my lesson today on the course......wow! is all I have to say. The swing is a work in progress, but I am already hitting the ball more consistently, straighter and longer. Their indoor studio consists of the Trackman (shot tracking device which measures club face angles, distances, etc.) and other video equipment. TJ turned the Trackman on for me and saw that my loss in distance could also be due to shafts being too whippy for me (ball spins too much). He took the time to have me try out some different shafts in house and suggested that I get stiffer shafts installed to lower the spin rates I produce in my irons. In short, the lesson at AGC was definitely worth it. These people do go the 'extra mile' to make sure that you have the swing and the gear needed to optimize your golf game. In addition, they are also REASONABLY priced! I know that I will be going back to AGC very soon so that we can confirm if stiffer iron shafts, driver, and 3w shafts need to be upgraded. After reading the previous reviews I decided to bring my fairway wood here to get the shaft replaced. I didn't realize there were so many options available, but Adam took the time to explain all the technical aspects of the different shafts. I took the day off and I had asked if the service could be completed by tomorrow. Even with the extremely short notice he said they will do everything they could to meet my needs. I got a call back after 30 minutes and was informed my club would be ready for pickup within an hour. The total time was only two hours from when I walked in inquirying about the service to picking up the completed product.
