I hope people read the low-star reviews before going forward with this company. In my experience, and it seems like some others' on here, Rooter will try to upsell you and take your money. Nothing negative to say about the plumber who came out -- he was on time, looked presentable, and had short answers. He attempted to drain our main line with a smaller snake than it actually required, then called us over to let us know that wasn't working so the next step would be to do a hydrojet. I asked if that would solve the issue and he said it was possible but only temporarily. My dad let him know about another line running from a different part of the house and allowing him to inspect it but he was completely closed off to inspecting it. Anyway, strike 1 was bringing a small snake to clear out a main line for the size of the job, strike 2 was the refusal to hear other options/possible solutions, and strike 3 was the price point for the hydrojet. A different plumber came earlier this evening, used the 100ft snake, and cleared out the drain for us at a fraction of the price. I'm just glad we didn't act on impulse. My reasoning for not having anything bad to say about our plumber is bc I'm thinking he's following company's orders but who knows. read more

** BEWARE ** We had a clog that did look bad on the surface. Gus barely attempted to run a snake before trying to tell us that we needed to replace the pipe. For $7500 When I said that was too much. He said he could clear it and add an Epoxy liner for only $5000. When I said that was still too much he said he could get a Hydro jet for $850. Just so you know a Hydro Jet should not be more than $450 at the most. Needless to say I called another Plumber who cleared the line in 20 minutes and for under $250 Total! The hydro jet service cleared out the main line fine but the cost was high...$585.00. This was supposed to include a camera inspection at a later date. BEWARE...they take the money and never come back for the camera inspection. After about five times trying to schedule the inspection, I just gave up on trying to get them to fulfill their obligation. This is common practice in the emergency plumbing business...take the money and run Advice...get a good local plumber who will do or recommend emergency service and stay with them. Their service is amazing. The price was reasonable considering the amount of work that completed on the plumbing. I just this company for all my plumbing needs, which shouldn't be for a long time. I had PICO done on the main pipeline of an old house and after 2 years, we have not had any problems. We now had to PICO the side pipes. They are professional and friendly. Scam artists. You'll notice a trend in the negative reviews. They get called out to snake a line, they seemingly can't do it so the $49 price to snake the line so the price jumps to $500 to hydrojet it, and then they pitch an outrageously expensive trenchless liner. To top it off, they offer to knock some money off if you book immediately. Pretty much what happened to me. After the tech couldn't get the snake all the way to the city we had to hydrojet and then they pitched the liner for $19,400. Of course the $500 hydrojet would go towards the job, and if we booked right away they'd knock $2000 off. That night the tech called back and said his boss authorized him to knock $3000 off, so now we're down to $15,900. That lead me to get some additional quotes and guess what, those quotes for trenchless came back in the $6-7000 ballpark, less than half. To top it off, I'm not sure they did anything with the $500 hydrojet - see the attached pictures and massive pipe blockage from roots - those pictures were taken 4 weeks after hydrojetting. read more

I have had the absolute worst plumbing experience ever in my life this week. Can you imagine a grown man standing there raising his voice to a woman while she is crying, scared of what may happen to her home? Further than that can you imagine also a grown man banging your the front door, ringing your doorbell 10+ times, and looking into your bedroom windows for over 30 minutes? I don't wish this kind of service on anyone, and in the hopes that it won't ever happen again let me explain to you my experience with Rooter-Man. It started simple enough, clogged drain in our kitchen. We tried vinegar and baking soda, some other remedies, and it would not clear - so we look online and find Rooter-Man. $50 for a quick drain clog fix sounds reasonable, so we ask them to come by and they do. Basically without any real work being done, immediately they start to try to hit us with problems. The line is tough, the line is rough, etc. etc. so $50 service won't cut it, to do a drain cleaning it will cost nearly $500! Yes, 10x the original cost. Not only that, but they told me if I did not do that service, I wouldn't be able to use any of the water services in my house. Honestly, I did not understand that because all of our plumbing was fine except for one clogged drain? Within 30 minutes they had me scared enough that we proceeded with the $500 service. Boy was that a mistake - it basically gave them the indication that I would say yes to anything. And that was never more clear than the next three conversations I had with them. After that $500 service they said "No, still not working"! They started reading off a list of plumbing "problems" such as pipes being at right angles, pipes not being strapped enough, etc. Basically, I can't run any of my water unless these things are fixed, or even more major damage would occur (at least from what they said). The cost would now be $2500 (see a pattern yet?). Obviously, at this point we were terrified. The claims at this point are that our entire house could fall into a sinkhole if we don't fix this problem. With that fear, we asked that they please fix the problems they located, we trusted they really did have our best interest in mind. Within a few hours that $2500 needed to have another $1500 addition to it (for a problem they had already identified previously, mind you), and once we started talking about why it was even necessary, the price jumped to an additional $2500. So, for all those keeping track, it went from $50 to clean a clog, to $5000 to fix and repair countless small items around the house. At this point we could not believe what we were hearing. Before we even started the $2500 service they had already inspected our entire crawl space, put a camera through our entire drain basically to the sewer, and even hydrojetted our cleanouts from the house and from the outside. How it was possible for them to then justify "discovering" more problems that were sitting right in front of them, literally in the first place you see under our house, I do not know. At this point, it was time for second opinions. We brought two other licensed and bonded (and highly reviewed) plumbers to take a look at our plumbing and review all aspects of what Rooter-Man said. One of these plumbers had also come out for an inspection the day before Rooter-Man came to our house. In fact, Rooter-Man had been taking us for a ride. From the moment before their servicing, to them leaving our house we had: a cracked irrigation pipe, a service pipe that was moved DIRECTLY near the house so it's incredibly difficult to access (without any notification), and flooding under our house. The most heartbreaking part is that when they brought up the pipe that was leaking under our house, the plumber who inspected both before and after Rooter-Man said they believe the hole was enlarged manually. We didn't even prompt him. He said it on his own. He even brought me the drilled pipe to see the damage. Now - Rooter-Man might tell you "there is no way we can tell what is happening down there" or "that never could have been our people someone else drilled that hole" - all I have to say is that I am not making any accusations - make your own opinion. Before Rooter-Man, no flooding, after Rooter-Man, flooding and drilled into pipe. Before Rooter-Man, irrigation working perfectly, after Rooter-Man, irrigation pipe is broken. Before Rooter-Man we felt safe, after Rooter-Man we felt abused and taken advantage of. Please - heed my warning on this one - find literally any other plumber, save yourself the headache. read more

I had called Rooter Man for a clogged drain after a horrible visit from another plumber. They sent out George within 10 mins, and he was so helpful and such a pleasure when he arrived. He was able to address our issue very painlessly, and got it fixed immediately. Not only was George and his team able to help us out with our problem, they were all extremely professional and accommodating. Since then, any problem that we've had, George has immediately come out and helped us fix the problem as soon as possible. We've never had to wait more than the same day! My plumber Edwardo was very honest and efficient. He was on time and had my kitchen sink unclogged in minutes. He was very professional and also left the area clean. Also, he was here in one hour to do the job! Wendy was the person on the phone that scheduled the appointment. She was also very kind and pleasant to speak to. She scheduled the appointment getting me a technician in one hour! Another company quoted $350 to do the same job... a simple clogged sink! They claimed since the clog was under the since they would likely have to replace the pipe and washers! Glad I called Rooter Man for another quote! Rooter Man did the job for $125! And no pipes or washers had to be replaced... which I knew didn't make sense when the other company suggested that. Rooter Man will be my plumber from now on. . JUST BE AWARE: I am writing this on behalf of my sister-in-law. One day after returning home from a major surgery (being on heavy pain medications and limited mobility) she found her shower had backed up and the bathroom floor flooded, however the toilet seemed fine. She called Rooterman and they arrived 2 hours later than they said. The initial plumber removed the toilet and briefly tried to clear a clog. He advised that he could not clear the clog that he suspected was roots and would have to call a supervisor. Sam arrived a few hours later and told her that he could see a clog on his camera (nothing shown to her) that they would never be able to clear with a rooter. He suggested digging up her outside cleanout on the front lawn (which was a one way clean out) repairing the clogged pipe and placing a new two-way cleanout for $5,700.00. She could not go without a bathroom, so she agreed. Then they said that they could not start until the following day and left her with limited use of the bathroom. The next day they started the project, but then Sam contacted her and showed her some video of what he said was damaged clay pipe that could collapse at any time (no video recording was kept, despite on the web site they say they keep recordings of all inspections). He then recommended that the pipe be replaced from the house to the street adding $ 8,700.00 to the price. Again, not knowing what she really saw on the camera and fearing a major plumbing problem she trusted Sam and agreed. This took two more days. After authorizing the work, she was emailed an invoice later that day that was extremely vague and did not break down any costs for the job. As they were finishing this up, Sam again contacted her and showed her another video (again no recording) that he said was the pipe under the house and it too was in danger of collapse recommending a sealing process that would cost about an additional $9,000.00. At this point she was overly suspicious and asked me to come look at the video. I went over and Sam did not have the camera or a recording that we could view. We asked to have a day to consider this and Sam became agitated and declined. He said that she had to decide then or it would cost more if he had to come back. She declined. Five days later she found her bathroom floor wet again. That same day she saw that the two holes they had dug in the front yard had collapsed after a day of rain. She called a second plumber (because Rooterman said it would be 2 days before they could come back) to check the bathroom. He discovered that the toilet had not been replaced properly and was dripping from the feeder connection and the bolts had not been reinstalled. I viewed the pipes under the house with this plumber on video and neither of us saw any obvious damage. I wonder if the clay pipes really needed to be replaced. I called Sam about the toilet, and he related that it was impossible. I also told him about the 2 day response and again he said that could not be true, but he would check the recording. When he did he found it was true. I asked Sam for a more detailed invoice as the charges seemed to be a bit excessive and he said that they do not break down expenses and that he just prices the job as a whole based on his experience (or maybe what he thinks he can get?) I asked him how much they charged per foot for pipe bursting replacement and he said $350.00 / foot (much more than any other quote I got from other plumbers). I asked how many feet he replaced and at first he did not know, then said 25', but the next day it was 30' (I measured 26'). 30' at $350.00 / foot is $10.500.00 meaning it was $4000.00 to essentially dig two holes at either end. At one point I asked to speak to Sam's manager, and he told me there was no manager and he did not answer to anybody but the owner and all decisions were his to make. So, I don't know who Gary is on this yelp website who claims to be the manager. To their credit Rooterman did reimburse for the second plumber after a dozen or more phone conversations. BOTTOM LINE: I suspect that they played on my sister-in-law's lack of knowledge regarding plumbing, physical condition, and fear in order to up sale her as much as they could. Well after reading all of the 1 star reviews, it seems like this business has an issue with taking advantage of people. Unfortunately, my mother in law fell victim to these predators. My 81 year old mother in law called this company because she was not getting any hot water. So they showed up and started with quotes of $50, $150, and $300. Somehow when they came out to do the work yesterday, they ended up giving her a bill of $27,000.00. Yes $27,000! This is total BS!! They took advantage of an 81 year old woman and it looks like they have done this in the past. This is elder abuse! My wife and I are going to do everything in our power to shut these guys down. From notifying the Better Business Bureau, to local law enforcement, to contacting an attorney. Do not use this company! Read the one star reviews! On the day of my mom's surprise party, my sink acted up. I called so many places and no one could come so quickly, on a Sunday, on a holiday weekend - except for Sam at Rooter Man Plumbing. Not only did he quickly come, he made as less of a mess as possible, stopped his work so we could have the surprise, and even joined in for a bit before hitting back on the plumbing. He fixed it quickly and easily. However, we had some back up issues and flooding only to find out our pipes were completely clogged as we have original piping from the 50's. He found the problem and quickly went to work. Sewage problems are a hassle, and expensive. He worked with us on both to make it as less painful. I highly recommend Rooters and Sam. Also, we had our entire piping replaced, and instead of ripping out our front lawn to lay new piping, they did this new hydraulics way so there was only two holes dug instead of a trench! read more

They are shameless up-sellers, who don't complete the job and leave everything a mess. I have no problem paying for quality work at a fair price. I don't appreciate being lied to and having the job left incomplete. Danny M., the Field Supervisor quoted me a price on an exterior drain he promised to clear all the way back to the corner of my house. This was after having hydrojetted the drain as well as run a camera all the way back to the trouble spot. When his guys had cut in the wrong spot and needed to cut a few additional square feet to get to the actual main line he called me and told me I would have to pay $2,000 more. He threatened to pull his guys off the job if I didn't agree to pay an additional $2,000. I told him go ahead and leave. He relented. But then didn't actually finish clearing the drain all the way back to the corner. Instead, they simply poured the concrete back over the hole and left everything a mess. I didn't learn the fact that they unilaterally decided to not clear the line to the corner until after they had poured the concrete back. They left concrete splatter all over my house, walkways and gate. They didn't clean up anything. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

It should be called Rooter Scam Plumbing. They came out and we're consistently shady. They told me the snake wouldn't work after they halfheartedly tried. They put the camera in right away and said it is clogged and I need hydro jetting. When I asked to see the screen they said the battery just died and they could show me another time. I reluctantly agreed and they said it was the only way. The hydrojetter came out and then they told me that it couldn't go down the pipe and the only thing I could do was get a two way clean out. I was in a real pinch and reluctantly agreed. They put in the clean out and never came back to do the hydrojetter. You would think if they really used the camera they would know the hydrojetter would not work. Here I am only 4 months after service and experiencing backups the same as before. Do yourself a favor and spend your hard earned money with someone who is trying to do the job and not someone who is just trying to run up a bill. read more

Giving 3 stars because they were able to get someone out to me quickly and the woman I spoke to on the phone was nice. They sent a plumber out to check on a clogged line in my kitchen. I was expecting to have to snake the line for $100, no biggie. He then tells me I'd have to get a hydrojet for 300 bucks. Something felt off to me so I told him I'd talk to my landlord and get back to them. I ended up calling another plumbing company that ive used them in the past and had positive results. The new plumber told me that if the previous guy tried to hydrojet my unit it would destroyed the wall, and that all I actually needed was a snake. If you go with this company proceed with caution. Finding a good plumber is like finding a good mechanic, you have to find one you trust. I just wouldn't really trust these guys, and from previous reviews it looks like others have had the same issues. read more

The day started out horrible with a backed up main sewer line spilling over into the tub and floor of the downstairs unit. I called Rooter-man and they got right out for the 49.00 dollar fee. But the morning got even worse when after Christopher, a really professional plumber wasn't able to get the snake thru way down the line after several attempts. So they came right out with a camera and determined that there were roots and possibly a damaged pipe. I agreed on the initial repair, which was expensive, and they started that day, and finished the excavation the next afternoon. But it gets worse, once they got to the pipe, there was issues. It would need to be sleeved from that point right at the alley to the main city sewer. And the price went way up. That was just scary as I am basically on a fixed income. Within an hour another small crew came with a trailer. These guys were really very amazing. Talk about a well oiled machine. The 4 of them fixed the pipe, installed the sleeve and had the sewer working by the end of the day They came the next day to finish the perminant repairs. It was very expensive, but it's not like a painting job or a fence where you can get several bids. When your sewer is stopped, your basically done for. So all in all, I am very lucky that I called them, since they were so prepared and experienced. That would have been even worse if they dragged this on for a another day or two. I see so many bad reviews here and for most other plumbers. You know, unless you want to dig down in the muck, and do it yourself, or have the luxury of time to get several companies to come out, or hire an inspector, you really can only go by what the end results are. Well, the good comes with the bad. The communication was great, with text messages confirming appointment times, etc. Gary and his team were professional, nice, and hard working. Once they assessed the damage to our plumbing (from original construction, and it was extensive) the price rapidly escalated from free (they declined to charge us for the original clean-out-cap cleanout, which would have done nothing) to tens of thousands of dollars to replace all of the pipes right out to the city connection. John (Field Supervisor) set up zero-fee financing for these unanticipated (but necessary, I saw the damage) expenses. Gary and his team worked continuously, without taking their normal days off, to finish the work, making sure we had access to toilet and shower before leaving every day. My kitchen sink became clogged. I tried most of the normal remedies to no avail. Rooter Man's plumber, Jose, came over and determined that one of my pipes, which is admittedly older, was super backed up and required either tearing down the outside wall of my house or a Picote Maxi Miller descaling drain cleaning treatment which would only take two hours and of course could be scheduled immediately. He gave me a rough estimate of $5000 to $6000 for a two-hour job. As it turns out, I spent $20 on a bottle of Green Gobbler Drain Clog Dissolver, left it in the sink overnight, and woke up to a completely working kitchen sink. This audacious quote to try and exploit a bad situation is all too common and ridiculous. Don't ever say yes to the first opinion without doing research and getting additional opinions. And don't ever call Rooter Man. read more
