My 4 inch sewer line was infested with roots due to a failure of the coupling from the 4 inch to 6 inch line. Rotor guard was able to diagnose this when they first came out. They gave me an estimate that was reasonable and within market rates. I got several quotes from other vendors, but ultimately went with Rooter Guard because of their professionalism. They excavated 6 feet in one day and was able to change the couplings. My main 6 inch line to the city sewer was also cracked upon review. I was so upset with the guy they sent out that I had to re download yelp to write my review. I requested a main line clean out. They said $60 I said ok. They told me if there's an inside issue it would be around $230 I said ok. I had my mother there waiting for the plumber while I was at work. They sent me Eddie M., he did not want to drain the main line even though I was ok with paying the $230 if it didn't fix my issue as an additional to the $60 for the main line. He had a hostile attitude towards me on the phone and my mother there. So I told him it was ok and not to proceed with any work. I own 5 other buildings in the city of LA, I will never use or recommend this company if this is the quality of employees that they have. The company tried to clear the drains and then had a manager call us to suggest a diamond tip cutter project for $2,200 versus original quote of $59 per drain---classic bait & switch. I saw their advertising for 59$ for clearing a clog from the main sewer line, which is exactly what my problem was. They were swift to answer and come to my place. The technician opened the cap of the backflow valve and we could clearly see the clog. He said this was bad news and did not want to try to touch it because he did not want to break anything and had to call his boss on the phone. The boss looked at the clog through the phone and asked to talk to me. He said i needed to fully replace the valve and the cost was 2450$. Considering the high price I told them I'll think about it. This is when the technician instead proposed 1250$ to send pressured water into the pipe to remove the clog. The entire diagnosis seemed weird to me and I had the feeling that they just wanted to charge me as much as possible. I said no When the technician had left I decided to take a small gardening shovel and remove the clog myself. I put the cap back on the valve , flushed the toilets and it sorted out the issue. The backflow valve just needed to be cleaned. To summarize, do not hire this company , they are a scam, the 59$ offer is just here to trap you. Their prices are insane. I wanted to verify the price before having them come out. The person answering calls asked if this was a house / apartment / condo, and then used that information to say the job would be "about $288". The claim he made is that plumbing in an apartment is different than in a single family home, which is categorically false in the context of a simple issue localized to one plumbing fixture. Also it says nothing of this differentiation or exclusion on their website, where I did actually read all the offer details before calling and then again before writing this review. In short, it's evident that this company is using the low price of $59 to generate lots of interest, but doing everything they can to find reasons to say that your particular job will not fit into their hidden set of criteria. It's a typical bait and switch, where the ad is below market and the actual price charged is way above market. Yonathan and the dispatch crew came through in a pinch n the middle of the night! We got home from a trip to find the hose to our washer was so badly corroded it had been slowly 'fountaining' for days. Our shut nearby offs were frozen so I tried to tie-off the leak when the hose just snapped off at the rusty fixture. While I managed to send the spray out the garage door into the street, I called Rooter Guard and they got Yonathan out of bed and he rushed over. In my panic I couldn't find the main shut off but located it immediately under some overgrown foliage. I had a main line sewer clog. I called Rooter Guard they had a deal for $59 to clear a clog of main sewer line. They came out and the tech put minimal effort into sending a snake down the clean out. He said he needs to call his manager to bring a camera and it will cost $250. I was kinda stuck given it is a main sewer line clog so we can't run any water down any drain in the house. The manager comes out and sends a camera down the clean out and says it is a major blockage or breakage of the pipe. He proceeds to show me a video of using a boreing tool to drill out a blockage and then relining the pipe with a pipe lines. He tells me it will cost $6000. I sent them in their way as I was skeptical of the whole thing. I called LA Hydrojet the next day, someone came out and unclogged the pipe in 5 mins with a snake. End of story. read more

Few things to know the workers on site work off commission. Which explains a lot of what happened with my experience. We went ahead and tried to get our main line cleaned as it was clogged and they use very cheap snakes that don't really get through the debris. They went ahead and told us our sewer line may be broke or got misaligned from the city pipes hence they couldn't unclog. Tried to tell us we might have to pay 7-10k to fix the issue. We turned them away and had a family friend plumber come in and he went ahead and unclogged the main line in about 10-20 minutes. Told us we had roots growing in and gave us a recommendation to buy root killers from Amazon. If they are your last minute call they aren't terrible but beware of their tactics as they will try to take advantage of anyone who may not know much about plumbing. read more

Charging several hundred dollars more because they have to unscrew the shower cover, instead of being able to go through the main line is ridiculous enough. Super shady tactic. Hello everyone, I called rooter guard because of the 60 dollar promotion and when they came to my house they informed me that the promotion is to unclog my drain and if it didn't work then I would not get charged. It turned out that it didn't work so I wasn't charged for the service, however, that only meant that the problem was alot serious and it was. Paying for a camera to look for the issue was totally worth it because it turn out that the main pipe drainage was broken causing back up in my house. They were straight foward about pricing and what my options were. They served quality service with proof of images and helped me fix another small pipe related issue at no additional cost. It was a big project but their work is guaranteed. Andres and Emillio provided great customer services and had a great team fix the issue within hours and finished fixing the yard the next day. I needed to have a right angle valve replace for my dishwasher. I already purchased the correct part and the area under the sink was clean and accessible. This should have taken no longer that 15 minutes tops. There were no additional services that need provided. The tech came inside apart and I informed him of what needed to be done. He then made a phone call to someone to get and price and they him $325 to install a right angle valve under my sink. I informed the installer that this price seems to be WAY TOO HIGH and he informed me that was the price, which handed down by corporate. Even the installer looked embarrassed by the high price for such minimal work that needed to be done. The ONLY reason I didn't say no is because I was pressed for time because I had installers coming right behind him to install my dishwasher. Also in my building it would have taken another 3 days to schedule the water to be shut off. So at this point, I will NEVER use this service again and I will NOT recommend this company anyone. I was very disgusted with the rude manager, Mike of this company. Johnny came out to investigate water under my house and "discovered" that I needed a new sump pump. Being desperate to fix the problem I agreed to pay $1850 to replace the "old" sump pump with a new one. I paid a 10% deposit. When I told my regular plumber, he reminded me that he had changed out the sump pump 3-4 months earlier. Feeling scammed by Rooter Guard I canceled payment on check for the balance and agreed to let Rooter Guard come and pick up their sump pump but they needed to return the one that had been in place under my house. At first I was told it was thrown away and then they "found" it in a bin. The sump pump they returned to me was old and corroded but it worked -in contrast to what they had originally told me that my pump didn't work. It did not appear to be 3-4 months old but 30 to 40 years old! Mike agreed to send me a photo of the sump pump he removed but the photo was undated. He refused to send me the video Johnny had taken on the job. I then had to pay my plumber an additional $400 to reinstall the beaten up sump pump that was returned to me. This pump was clearly NOT the a new pump that my plumber had i initially installed. Do NOT pick this plumbing company out of google or desperation. read more

Great experience. Rooter guard got a tech out to service a water heater of ours. Immediately, I could tell that Ernie was prompt, polite, and had very clear communication skills. Our water heater (installed in 1996!) finally blew some 26 years later. Taking a cold shower in November weather was not fun, and Rooter Guard worked to get a new water heater in that same day. Again, a total of 6 and a half hours from initial consultation on the job site to finished install. That might not be feasible in all cases, but Rooter Guard made it work, and we're grateful for it. Work was efficient, and they even did some light construction work to install an emergency vent from the heater to the outside as part of the quoted install price. Ernie E showed up and climbed under my home, analyzed the problem and working with his manager quickly provided a quotation. I contacted 2 other plumbing companies who also quoted the job but neither company could complete the job until the next week. While Rooter Guard was not the least expensive quotation, Ernie E was knowledgeable, professional, and understood the urgency to repair the problem. Ernie and Tony arrived on-time Friday to begin work and returned on Saturday to complete the job. They also found a couple of other areas which were destined to become a burst pipe and repaired those at a discounted price. I would highly recommend Rooter Guard along with Ernie E and Tony. This is a classic bait and switch operation. They advertise "$59.00 or free" to unclog a kitchen sink. When the serviceman comes he glances at the sink and says, "This will cost "150.00." I replied, "What about the $59.00 quoted on your website." "Oh, that's only if you have an outside clean out." "But your website says nothing about an outside clean out," I responded. We then went to his website and he couldn't find any mention of an outside clean out. He then called his boss, "Mike," who said that the website doesn't mention that exclusion, but it does say (in extremely fine print that's greyed out) call for disclaimers and then they would tell you about outside clean outs! And mind you, the website has numerous pages touting the $59.00 price and only the tiny greyed out print says to call the office for disclaimers. read more
