Looking for a plumber to find and fix a leak. Called Rooter Hero dispatch said they come out for free and give a free estimate. The guy that arrived was nice and professional, looked around and then couldn't determine where the leak was from besides saying water travels. He said we come out for free but there is a $59 special for diagnostics which he looked around in the house and flushed the toilet a few times. Still unable to determine he said we can open your Sheetrock for $350 or send a camera down the toilet to see if the pipes are bad for about $750. With those options still no guarantee to find the leak. This free dispatch and free estimate is kind of misleading. I probably wouldn't recommend using them. read more

I requested a service and got an email saying I am booked... no date or time on the email. (Apparently the were going to send someone out asap, no price quote just send someone). I call them and schedule an appointment the next day. They reassure me that they will give me a quote when they arrive. I schedule a two hour time frame knowing the would come at that time. Next day arrives, I get a call at 4:45 (appt time was 4pm-6 pm) and they say they are still trying to get someone out to my place. They had 24 hours to "try"... I needed someone and say okay. Closer to 6 pm is fine. I call them to check in it would be closer to 8pm. What person wants someone's their home at 8pm!? I said no because I would feel uncomfortable and that I booked a time frame for a reason. They lost my business and others shouldn't give in to waiting around for them to "try" to send someone out. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I hope my experience helps other homeowners avoid making the same mistake I did. I had Rooter Hero Plumbing replace my kitchen garbage disposal with an InSinkErator Badger 5 (1/2 HP). I was charged $825 for what appeared to be a routine replacement. After the installation, I looked up the exact same model and found it selling online for approximately $113. I fully understand that plumbers charge for labor, travel, overhead, and warranty, not just the cost of the unit, but I was still shocked by the total price. Since I was in the middle of an important work meeting, I trusted the technician's recommendations and signed all the paperwork without carefully reviewing everything. That was my mistake, and I take responsibility for not asking more questions. During the installation, I was also told that the replacement unit did not include an electrical cord and that one had to be purchased separately. What disappointed me most was the lack of transparency afterward. When I requested an invoice, I received only a single line item for $825 with no breakdown showing the cost of the garbage disposal, labor, service call, additional parts, or any other charges. As a customer, I believe I should be able to see exactly what I paid for. I'm not accusing the company of doing anything improper. I'm simply encouraging other homeowners to protect themselves by asking for a written estimate before authorizing work, requesting an itemized invoice, comparing prices if the repair is not an emergency, and understanding exactly what they are signing. I also learned an important lesson myself. Next time, I will likely obtain estimates from local independent plumbers before using a large national chain. I hope my experience helps someone else avoid an unexpected surprise. read more

SCAM. Plumber was very nice, professional. Came late. We had a simple clogged sink. He asked if he could go under the house. Was in the crawl space forever, came back up to show us pics of all "the work that wasn't up to code." Quoted us a cost of 15,000 bucks to have it all redone. 15,000. We said we'd think about it. The clog clearing ended up costing us over 300 dollars. He also mentioned that our pipes were original from when the house was built in 1950. I didn't clock that at first. It WAS built in 1950, but how did he know that? They looked it up so they could scam us with the "pipes are too old" BS. 15,000 bucks. He came up with that number in about 5 minutes. Scammers. Also push you to leave a 5 star at review." The plumber has a card that connects to your phone online. I can't believe I let him do that. He also took lots of pictures under the house. I asked them for the pics the next day, haven't heard from them. I wonder if the pictures were actually of my house. read more

Rooter Hero is a rip off. Don't use this company. My parents had a clog and the guy charged 700.00 and broke their bathroom tile and didn't reconnect the shower drain so it actually drained below the house. Quoted 20k to replace sewer line because said it wouldn't work. We immediately called AAA plumbing who came out and fixed their botched job and said we didn't need a new sewer line and told us they never reconnected the drain line. Never use this company and they took advantage of a 90 year old couple. Worst company ever!!! Stealers and thieves! read more

Buyer Beware -- Double Beware This company advertised a tempting $77 coupon. However, proceed with caution. They came to our home, performed the snake cleaning, and unplugged the pipe. The next morning, it clogged again, so they returned to redo the job. They inspected the piping by accessing the crawl space and then presented an outrageous five-figure estimate for replacement, citing sagging and aging pipes. To make matters worse, they claimed there was raw sewage at one end of the pipe. They insisted this was the best price, stating they had applied every possible discount, including approval from a district manager. I agreed to replace the piping but chose not to use their services. Instead, I hired a reputable licensed plumber whose measurements showed the piping was definitely not the oversize they claimed, and there was no raw sewage. His estimate was several times lower than Rooter Hero's. It seems they assumed I wouldn't inspect the crawl space myself and gave me stories to justify their high estimate. read more

Bait and switch. I booked a service advertised at $59, but when the tech arrived he claimed he didn't know about that coupon and said they only had a $77 promo instead. I asked to use that one, since the fine print said it covered drains up to 75 feet. Then I was told it only applies if the drain is cleaned from the outside--not from the toilet. The clog was cleared from the toilet in about 3 minutes, and I ended up being charged $270. Felt misleading and frustrating. I won't be using them again read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. All of the other reviews saying that they prey on the elderly and use high pressure sales tactics are 100% true. They lied to us at least 3 times. My 87 year old mother called them for a slow draining bathroom sink. After going under the house, she was told that her problem is she needs $18,000 of re-piping and they needed to start the next day (Sunday.) When she called to cancel that until I had time to help her, they told her that they had already taken out the permit (Lie #1), and that they had already cut her pipes when they were under the house and they need to be replaced (Lie #2) When I got involved they told me that her pipes were under a recall. When I asked how they determined that, I was told they had photos and video from under the house and they would send them to me. (Lie #3) I never received the photos and eventually they ended up ghosting me. I sent a reputable worker under the house and he showed me photos or a perfectly functioning plumbing system with no leaks. I gave them every chance to justify their bid, and they ghosted me. read more

Called them to fix a clogged sink and shower. i would have given Rooter Hero a negative infinity if I could. I was looking for a plumber to come in to fix some issue over the weekend, and Rooter Hero showed up on Google search with a 4.8 average out of 3.5K reviews. The guy showed up and found an issue with my drainage pipe and told me that he was waiting for a supervisor to come over. This supervisor guy Daniel showed up later and told me that my pipes are not up to code and if any water damage happens in the future and I would have trouble with my insurance if it is not fixed. Then he quoted me $5K for the job, which includes cutting open a small piece of drywall and raise the drainage hole to a higher position with a recessed box. They would patch the wall, and then I would have to paint it myself. I said that is crazy and would not do it. They then sold me something else just under $1000 and When i said no it is too much, they told me ok now you must pay us $79 for us to come out. They told me very clearly there is no charge for the inspection and estimate. Then Daniel left saying that he had other jobs, and then two minutes later, he called the first guy saying he could do it for $2950. Long story short, I got scammed by them for almost one thousand dollar. I later had another plumbing company come in, and the plumber looked up the plumbing code in front of me and 1) My plumbing is completely up to code. 2) The quote from this reputable company is quoting less than one third of what this scammer Daniel quoted me. The guy who came to do the work was also bad at his job and didn't seem to know what he was doing. For as little work as he did, it took him four hours total and he needed to call Daniel for help. I don't know how many Rooter Heros are out there, but STAY AWAY from them like plague. read more

This is the most unprofessional outfit I have ever dealt with. We had $31,000 of work done and were given a 10year warranty if ANYTHING went wrong. Once problems stared to happen, we could not get anyone on the phone or to return our messages. Our toiles backed up and they did not care one bit!!! Diego Ruiz was in charge of the project. He would simply not show up on days or times her promised. When we would try to contact him, he would get upset. Again, he would promise to call us back or to stop by and then he would simply ignore us. They had our money and now they did not want to be bothered. I had to rent a snake and root out my toilet myself. I made calls to the office and requested to speak with Alex Hernandez (Supervisor)? Alex simply did not return my calls......once again, we got the "don't bother us" attitude. This company does not understand the meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE. They refuse to communicate or honor their agreements. The crew would sit in their vehicles for hours and do nothing. The crew would work one or two hours and then disappear for hours at a time for lunch. They just don't care and are surprised when they receive criticism. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. HORRIFIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! SCAMMERS!!!!!!! DO NOT USE THEM!!! Technician: 8378 Max Dukes (CL/BANE) Technician: 9914 Ezhaun Richardson they full blown did a bait and switch lie to us to try to get us to get all new piping when we just needed a simple snake and grey water repair. The technician, and then the manager Max Dukes, lied and told us there was a full sewage leak and break with black mold... Ezhaun said that the sewage was "everywhere" and that we needed to get out of the house right away and get a full new sewage system, costing over 22,000$ with a "managers discount." I spoke with the manager, Max Dukes, and questioned the estimate they gave us as it even gave us a brand new toilet and everything you could possibly think of, he told me that it was very serious and that we had to leave and stay somewhere else right away and that once the city found out our place would be "red taped." they tried to get us to sign on contact and the manager told me it needed to be signed that day, and to have an emergency work done by the following day. I am so grateful I took a moment and waited and got a second opinion. I then got a third opinion just to be sure. THE TRUTH was that we had NO SEWAGE ISSUE we had a simple clog in our sewer from roots, and then SOME grey water from a SMALL leak in a pipe from our dishwasher. We went with Yorkshire plumbing, and paid 2,000, for the simple fix. he showed us full video of what was happening under our house to prove the scammers wrong and walked us through what was really happening. We had tis company come out to fix a clogged pipe in the kitchen. In initially they quoted us $77 as a special, but when the technician came out it became $383 (after senior discount) since he said he could not do it from the outside and had to do this inside the kitchen. All went well until he had to put the plumbing back together under the sink. It leaked water as soon as we ran the garbage disposal. Up until the moment the technician removed the pipes under the sink it never leaked. Anyway he tried a few times to fix it but to no avail. He then told us that this was not really his problem since he was called out to remove the clog, which he did. He told us that he could fix this by replace the metal pipes with plastic pipes and that would cost us $750. We told him that we would not pay that kind of money. At that point the technician was getting a little feisty. This felt like a total scam. I went to Lowes to look at what those pipes would cost. As it turns out it was only $34 for all pipes under our sink. Anyway I got 2 new rings to replace the old ones and now it seems to be leak free. My total cost to fix $3 instead of $750. I will never recommend these guys to anyone. They are in my opinion scam artists for the way they try to scam us out of a lot of money. read more

My sink clogged on a Sunday. While several plumbers did not have anyone available until Monday, Rooter Hero sent a technician, Danny, en route within 2hrs of my call. I was even able to follow Danny's estimated arrival time online. Even though no quote was provided beforehand, the estimate given to me after the inspection was reasonable. Danny unclogged the sink, inspected the crawlspace, recommended several upgrades to the plumbing system, and provided a detailed quote for the upgrades. He was friendly, answered all my questions patiently, and left the bathroom cleaner then it was when he got there. Highly recommend. read more

3 months ago I had a sewage clog and called Rooter Hero because the had a special on this service. They guy they sent snake the line was polite and professional, I even tipped him $20. The next day I noticed I was still having the same issue. I called them back and they sent me another plumber named Jones. I may be mispelling his name. He told me that the line wasn't clogged and that a portion of the sewage line needed to be replace at a cost of $12,000. Or he would replace the entire sewage line for $20,000. Now I'm a senior, and I felt as if I was being taken advantage of. I told him I could not afford that kind of money. He gave me his phone number (707) 515-8206 and told me he could do it as a side job for bit cheaper. The next day I called a different plumber and showed him the section of line that was needing repair. He agreed that there was problems but his quote was $2,000. Also he said the rest of the line was fine. I hired him and he did the work. After he was finish the line was still clogged. He snaked out the line and fixed my initial problem. We called them to get a drained cleared for $77 because it's a great price, or is it? For frame of reference I am a journeyman plumber so I know what I'm talking about. Had a clog I couldn't get out so I called them in. To be fair they were here for about two hours and put on a good show, looked like they were really trying, but were they? The head they were using wasn't the correct head for the job, it was a flimsy spring head used for looser clogs instead of the needed cutting head or at least a larger spring head. After two hours of show they told me they'd need to cut my ceiling open to inspect a pipe and that'll be $300, and they are pushy about it. The proposed job was going to be about $3k-$4k and I said thank you, paid them the $77 dollars and declined them cutting open my ceiling. Called another plumber the next day who came out with the right equipment and blew out the exact same clog in about 20 minutes. You do get what you pay for apparently. read more

We had Rooter Hero's come out for a backed up sewer line. They identified the cause fine and correctly identified that we needed a replacement lateral, but their pricing felt like extortion. $51,000 to clear out the blockage and install a replacement lateral to reach a back unit 120 feet from the street. This included $7,000 to clear the old blockage and install a clean out hatch. High pressure to agree in a few hours. When we said we'd get other bids they immediately dropped the asking price to $41,000. Rival bids came in from $10,000 to $29,000 not including the $7k of previous work. Feels like a scam. I would not go back to them. read more

I still feel very uneasy about this company. I contacted company for a clogged kitchen drain. I just so happen to go out to dinner and I heard a group of plumbers talking about the job and how they get over on clients- I thought that sounds like something happening to me. I look over that way and it's the plumber that was in my home and said he could do the side job. Made appt for residential service & they didn't show up!!! Not even a phone call to reason why!!!

Had appointment for 10-12. But an emergency came up and the technician stated we be next sorry for delay and your patience. Showed up 3.20 hours late. Understood the flood was more important! No complaints on my end...yet Told the technician Logan and Matthew that I needed the clean out snaked. I showed them where it was located. Logan states that I must have another! I said no, this is it. Logan says I have to go under the house. I refused! I have speaker wires and they lay on the ground and the soil is moist from winter rains. Plus no clean out under my house. I explained to the techs that I replaced 40 feet of abs in August. I started at the seer area and exchanged them carefully.! I told them I was using "dishwasher pods" and stopped just a week or so ago and started using cascades liquid. The techs started a snake at my clean out and tried twice saying they used 75 ft of snake. I said you should have a marking on the snake.. or showing 60 ft.. 70 ft.. etc so you know how much you used. I looked at the chamber and there was a few loops still on the chamber and they still had to reach up at the 6 ft level to clean out. Since the snake didn't clear it, Logan stated for 1600$ it would clean it and guarantee for one year. I refused! They got the gear put away, I paid my 59$ for the trip and still had a clogged drain. I went to Lowe's picked up a drain gel heavy duty, followed directions using 8 ounces. Let sit 30 minutes. Turned on the hot water.. an OUTSTANDING cleaned! And ran the water 5 minutes. Cost was 20$ for the drain cleaner Better than 1600$! Zero stars for ROOTER-HERO. Will instagram this also to my friends read more

Predatory lenders disguised as plumbers. Buyer Beware! I called these guys after my initial appointment with a different plumber fell through--I was willing to wait for hours to have them come out the same day, and the $59 coupon to snake my drain seemed like a great deal. The young man who came was kind, professional, and got to work right away. Within 30 mins he told me the clog in my drain was impenetrable with the snakes he used (even a "diamond-head" tipped one) and showed me what looked like soil on the end of the snake. He said the clog was likely a symptom of a larger problem, and that there could be a number of issues, but without hydro blasting the line and getting a camera in there, we wouldn't know for sure. He called his supervisor to get me a "deal" on the hydro blaster, and quoted me $1700, assuring me that whatever needed fixing, the $1700 could be applied to future costs. I thanked him for his time, and declined any more work, and paid him for his attempt to unclog my drain. The thing is, I had been quoted a hydro blast & camera inspection already from a local plumber for $350, so I knew the quote (nearly 5x as much) was price gouging. The next morning, I had another plumber come in; he snaked my drain (no diamond-head needed) and cleared it in under 40 mins. He even showed me more or less where the clog was, between the sink drain and the access point outdoors--a span of less than 10ft--said the clog was gunk, not soil. He didn't recommend blasting the line and guaranteed his work for 1 year. I will never call on these folks ever again. Take your time, and call around--they may charge cheap to get in the door, but beware! PS: it's been nearly 5 days and my sink is still draining perfectly! read more
