I came Thursday morning, April 1st at 6:30 AM--first time here. This was a larger built woman. I asked for a medium white mocha, decaf. She goes "what size?". I'm like--"medium"... she goes "there are five sizes". I am like--"whichever size is medium". My goodness, things can never be simple but instead of just picking whatever size is closest to medium she kept asking what size. I think 16 oz is in fact a standard medium. Five sizes is insane. I go to pay--she just points to the sign, apparently they do not take electronic payment--card or cash. So I dig out my card. When she comes back, my card is attached to a clipboard with the receipt and a pen. Germ city, so I grab my card but do not touch the pen or clipboard. She asks if I can sign the receipt and I go "no thank you". I do not want to touch the pen and clipboard because gross, I am sure it is covered in germs and I do not like touching things that I speculate are high touch surfaces and not clean. She goes "F--CK OFF". And I drive away. In my head I go "huh?". Because how was it warranted for her to tell me to fuck off??? If any of my staff told a customer to "F--CK off", they would be fired immediately. I was in no way hostile or rude--it was my first time visiting. I didn't know they had five sizes, I am not touching that shared pen and clipboard. Emotionally immature. I get told to f--ck off and that isn't the energy I was giving her AT ALL. If I happen to be that way again, I will stop by and grab a photo of her and share it here because there is no way. read more

Roosters is a true Gem! Not only do they offer exceptionally fast service and lower prices than any other coffee stand I've been to in Seattle proper, but they also have a fantastic product! Every drink is made perfectly with just the right ratios and they are CONSISTENT, which is hard to find! This is an extremely slow coffee shop. They take forever to get your food and drinks to you, and the coffee taste burnt.

Been going to this drive thru espresso stand for 8 years now. It just keeps getting better. They're always fast to make your coffee. Even if the line is long, the baristas will come out to get your order before you get to the order window. The baristas also are good to memorize your order. Not sure how they do it. One of my favorite drinks here is the Rooster Cooler. It's a frozen blended drink. Reminds me of a Starbucks frappichino but ten times better and not as sweet. You can have a flavor added but you don't even need one. It tastes good just plain. They definitely know how to make coffee drinks. Perfect temp. Perfect amount of foam. I've never been disappointed. Sometimes when I'm in a hurry I get one of their handmade breakfast burritos. They have two types both vegetarian. One is the Spicy Achiote Burrito with black beans, potatoes, cheese and achiote sauce in a handmade flour tortilla. The other is the Salsa Fresca Burrito with eggs and salsa and cheese. Not happy at all with this place. I've tried it several times as it is close to my home, and I like to support smaller shops instead of just going to Starbucks which is at every corner. They are very inconsistent in their coffees. I find a lot of coffee places make their espresso drinks (mochas) way too sweet, so I asked for half sweet. It was still painfully sweet. I went with other people and tasted their "full sweetness" drink (meaning the sweetness level is not altered) and it wasn't sweet at all! I still finished my drink because I was desperate for some caffeine. It made me sick to my stomach the rest of the day. They are causing diabetes one customer at a time. I will have to just stick with Starbucks unless another coffee shop opens nearby. At least Starbucks is consistent in their drinks and can do 1/2 sweetness level without a problem. I just wanted to write this review so that I remember not to go back. To end on a positive note, the two employees there are nice. read more

Don's recent review reminded me I've never reviewed this place. An often regular stop on my old commute to work, and most recently, a morning coffee to begin a weekend getaway on Bainbridge. The number one reason to love this place is consistency, ok, that and making jokes about..."roosters' and other words for roosters, a nice change from all the tit coffee stuff. They post daily horoscopes and funnies from the paper on the little board below the window. Can be good for a giggle. However, if like Don, you are going to read your companion the snarky, dark horoscope of a different sign and then say, "Ok, now mine'....be sure your companion IS NOT the same sign as you for said joke to work. It can get quite a line in the a.m commute time, but their location allows a fairly deep line to build before it clogs up Lake City way, and it is a nice, last refuge of coffee before hitting the 5. read more

Damnit! Conveniently located on Lake City Way a jump before the expressway. Damnit, because it's too damn hard NOT to stop and get my breve fix before class. This little drive-thru shack is located on a wide parking area for easy access. The staff is friendly, and they didn't burn my breve. I can't ask for more. The prices are reasonable (3.40 for a venti), and they still have croissants around 9am which is a plus. read more

I wondered if I really thought Rooster's deserved 5 stars. And while thinking, my mind wandered, and I started thinking about 100 other things. The short answer is yes, there isn't one thing I can think of that would detract from a 5-star rating. It is a small drive-thru stand located near the I-5 entrance off Lake City. I sometimes am hesitant when I roll up to the window because they have a number of different people working there. I say in my head "SHOOT! I really liked that last person, and now I've got anoooother new person". Rest assured, they must super-train them over months and months because the quality is excellent, the foam is delicious and the coffee flavor is great and not burnt. AND they are consistent. Give it a try, prices are pretty good and get yourself a punch card. I give Roosters 5 stars for a few reasons. First of all, I grew up in this neighborhood and both my older siblings worked here. Once I was old enough I joined the band-wagon and worked here too. Everyone is correct, there is an extensive training process that goes into how they make their coffee. The owner spends time with all new employees to ensure they know the machine, they know how to properly steam and foam milk and makes sure everyone she hires is FANTASTIC! (see what I did there?? see?? I said I was fantastic ;) reeegardless, the coffee is wonderful! I have always loved it and will always love it. Great people, wonderful flavors... whats not to love? It can and does get very busy in the AM, but they have extra staff to help keep it running along smoothly, also after you go for a while and if you like the same drink, they will have it ready for you when you pull up to the window! lovely! read more

They are open late! The coffee is fantastic! They have punch cards! The baristas are real live people, not bikini clad freezing fad-baristas. I'm a pretty huge coffee snob. I'm also a huge service snob. Rooster's makes me happy. They make better than average coffee drinks and are always super sweet. They're also quick, which is important because I'm usually running late. Quick without sacrificing quality - that's an art. If there's a line, staff permitting, they walk back to your car to take your drink order and get it started. Also, they have delicious breakfast burritos that are clearly made with homemade tortillas. I always get the Achiote and hubs gets the Salsa Fresca burrito. Yum! I don't always head south on Lake City to I-5 but when I do, I stop at Rooster's! read more

This place is fantastic. Whenever I take my car in that direction on the way to work, I stop for breakfast. The lattes are creamy and not too sweet. The espresso is not burned and acidic, like it is at many places. The baristas are always friendly and welcoming. The breakfast burritos (we always get The Salsa Fresca) are delectable: flavorful and filling. The tortillas melt in your mouth. They also DO have a stamp card now. read more

I was introduced to Rooster's by a friend who owns a restaurant in Maple Leaf. I was hesitant, not being a fan of drive-thru espresso stands. But I make an exception for Rooster's Espresso. The latte is amazing and exactly has the right amount of espresso for a grande. It's perfect and a great price. Whenever I've had a coffee emergency and have been too lazy to get out of my car, I've gone to a corporate place in Lake City that has coffee. But not anymore. I give Rooster's 5 stars and would give them more if it was possible. P.S. They are really nice people and I think the prices are fantastic. read more

Rooster's is our daily caffeine fix! Regardless which of the 3 locations we visit, the coffee is consistently perfect. All baristas know our regular drinks; my drink is particularly difficult as I refuse to make decisions early in the morning and leave it up to them to decide what flavor I get. Every time I have been thru there have always been two girls working (actually working not just hanging out inside the stand). I've been picking up my morning mocha here regularly over the last few years. While the crew isn't the most chatty of folk and they may seem like they're on the more disingenuous side - they really aren't. In fact, they have system to pumping out their rush(es) of customers. I'm pretty sure keeping things light and sweet is part of the routine. Ain't nobody got time for chatty kathy when they have a line( of cars, because it's mostly drive through business) or when you REALLY want your java for a lengthy commute. These folks keep it real, synergistic and to the point. If you need a therapist for a barista, this might not be your place, but if you want fabulous espresso quickly and efficiently at the convenience of simply driving through, then I totally suggest passing through for a cup'o. read more
