Amazing straight bar with decent happy hour. At $10 a cocktail (happy hour), it's the cheapest on the block called Abbot Hills. Also, the $6 well drinks are served in a very very generous glass. This gave me a nice gay buzz while I observed the crowd. Straight couple. Bros. Group of girls. The venue got a face lift and went from scary dark cash only gay dive to bougie copper tables and tastefully exposed brick. Where did all these "allies" come from? I have been a long time fan of both roosters and fish so this place was just perfect for date night with my boyfriend.

I liked the indoor outdoor option and the vibe here is nice when it's not overly crowded . Just came here for a drink after dinner and since we went early, there was no lines or crowd by 8 since we were looking to just chill but by 10pm on a Friday the crowd definitely picked up and gets packed. Maybe too packed in my opinion but nice spot to hang. read more

The bar was really nice. It was really dark and crowded but cool above. Unfortunately we have up on getting a drink. The bar was crowded and the bartenders just couldn't manage. Ultimately we tried for awhile before leaving. No drink. It was too loud to talk, too small and crowded to dance, too dark to see people and too difficult to get a drink. Still, the bar didn't seem bad. The guard at the door was really cool. Probably the staff is nice. I'm going to assume everyone else had a better experience. Since the experience with the door guy, the bartender, the back patio, everything's was great. The minute the bartender handed us our drinks, the lights went on and the bouncer was yelling at us to get out. For those of you who remember the old Roosterfish, coming here will be so different. The newer Roosterfish is cute lounge bar with crafted cocktails, wine and beer. I have been here many times pre-Covid and when it use to be a dive bar. Currently, the setup is outdoor drinking only. They have a couple of heat lamps so no worries on feeling chilly. Spacing is limited, and there are limits due to LA County guidelines, so there will probably be a wait. Overall, my wait was about 20min, and you're limited to about 90min, which they're really strict on. The cocktails I had were good. They do have a couple of creative cocktails with mezcal and tequila, but it's a very limited menu at the moment. They have a good wine selection, but only about 2 beers that I saw on the menu. Overall, you're gonna come here for the experience. It's cute, perfect place for a date or intimate setting with friends. read more

Possibly one of the worst bars in West LA. I've been coming here periodically for almost 10 years and this place has really gone down hill. Their drinks are horrible, the lines at the bar are outrageous, only 1 bathroom so you'll be waiting in line for 45+ minutes. They have to close the back patio at 10pm because of noise ordinances, but they stuff the inside regardless so when people come in, there is no room to move or dance. You'll be constantly shoved around as people try to get through. I've honestly never had "the best time" here, but at this point it's hard to have even a decent experience. The management and security are horrible. They do not look out for the safety and wellness of their customers at all! read more

Management is rude and aggressive, doesn't surprise me that other reviews mention being mistreated and even drugged. This bar is genuinely unsafe and unfortunately, I learned this first hand. Not only were the bartenders unapologetically rude and dismissive, consistently walking passed me after we had clearly made eye contact as I stood at the bar. We were finally acknowledged by a bartender with long dreads, only for him to walk away immediately after I tried to order a shirley temple for my sober friend. After a few minutes the same bartender finally came over and slid us a random drink he had just mixed. It very obviously wasn't a shirley temple, it even had a lime on the rim. My girlfriend took a sip and realized it was a tequila soda. Annoyed and thinking the bartender messed up and forgot to bill me, I took the drink. That is my last memory of a night I started sober. I woke up the next morning woozy, ghost pale, and with no glimpse of a memory from the night before. After talking to my girlfriend I learned that once I began drinking that free drink, I became incoherent and threw up most of the night. I continued throwing up most of the next day and couldn't remember anything at all from that night, even after talking to everyone I was with at Roosterfish. We finally realized I had been roofied by the bartender after piecing together the events that took place directly before my blackout. Never in my life have I felt so unsafe. The bartender that served me last night has dark skin, long dreads, and needs to be fired. Roosterfish has to figure this shit out. The prices were okay and what you would expect but I was grossed out when the $15 "charcuterie board" literally consisted of deli meats and gross, cheap cheese. We were looking for a nice bar to go to in LA while we were waiting for the UFC fights to start and found this place. This is such a cool place in abbot Kinney. The ambiance of this place is dark but open and friendly. The bar tenders were super friendly. I wanted a drink with cucumber in it and it wasn't on the menu, but the bar tender made something for me anyway. It was happy hour during the time that we went and he gave me happy hour pricing for it anyway even though it wasn't on the menu. I was physically assaulted, verbally insulted, and then thrown out of the bar by the General Manager, Travis, at Roosterfish. Not only was I physical and verbal assaulted, it was completely uncalled for, unprofessional and humiliating. And this all happened because I was touching a grapefruit on the bar... absurd. I went to grab a drink with five fellow co-workers visiting from out of town on Thursday, September 19th around 9:30pm. Upon entering, we went to the bar to order drinks. While waiting to order drinks, a co-worker commented on the size and presence of a grapefruit in front of us and so I jokingly touched the grapefruit to brag on California produce. It was all meant to be a quick, funny joke between co-workers. While touching the grapefruit, Travis came out of nowhere, with no warning, and aggressively HIT my hand to knock it off the fruit. I was so startled and taken aback that I originally thought he was joking. I am not a person to make a scene, even when feeling physical pain, and thought he must be joking. He then asked us for two dollars for the grapefruit, in which my entire group, again, thought was a joke. However, he kept demanding it and we soon realized he wasn't joking... we didn't even know how to respond. I did not act aggressively, I did not talk back, and neither did my very friendly [and not intoxicated] group of co-workers. This ABSURD interaction ended up with Travis calling security to walk me out of "his" bar. I am a Venice local who works for a Venice-based company and I am so ashamed that my co-workers visiting from out of town had to see this. It took me an hour to shake the aggressive vibe that he put on me and my group.
