I spoke today with Gloria first thing in the morning. She was so helpful, kind, and informative. Since I have both a steam vac and an upright vacuum whose electrical cords need replacement, I've been at my wits' end thinking about whether I should chuck both appliances or try to get the cords replaced. She provided very clear answers that have allowed to decide what to do. It is a fourth-generation family-owned and run small business in a small store front on NE 65th, a neighborhood that has been demolished to make way for steel-concrete-glass condos. You can tell that the owners work very hard. And still maintain a great smile and a willingness to go the extra mile for their customers. It is very refreshing to actually do business with real people and not employees at Best Buy. Or have to pack and ship one's appliances out-of-state to get them repaired! They called me back minutes after I called them in the morning right after 10 a.m. ***** So many manufacturers have built in obsolescence to their appliances. It is a real dilemma today for consumers to decide whether to buy a new appliance after 6 months, or even a year and a half, and have to discard/recycle it. Or try to repair it. There seem to be fewer and fewer repair shops. To have a local repair business like Roosevelt is so much better than having to ship the thing back to a repair center in another state. It would be nice if the City of Seattle provided more incentives--including monetary ones--for local places like this to stay in business. They may well indeed be an endangered species. read more

Had part I needed from very old vacuum at reasonable price. Staff was very helpful and great to work with.

Today I took my 30+ year old kenmore cannister vacuum to this shop. In about 30 minutes the young woman diagnosed the problem, searched through her parts pile, cannibalized a non working hose and "grafted" a used but functional component onto my hose and voile! .. my vacuum worked again and I saved about $60 over a brand new hose. She is TERRIFIC. read more

I've taken my Miele in for repairs here a few times and have had a great experience. They're professional and fair in their pricing. The first time I tried to fix my vacuum myself I took it apart and couldn't put it back together! When I picked it up after they were finished they showed me a few tips on caring for the vacuum and even gave a little discount because they were backed up from other repairs. I've since moved across town but came all the way here to get it unclogged for another issue. The lady at the counter fixed it really quickly and showed me how to do it for next time. Really great service. Seems to be a family owned business with a lot of integrity. SO happy they're around! read more

During the pandemic, I was able to get a new part for my Miele vacuum and this week Gloria helped me out when my cord would not come out - she told me the part was cracked - I could replace it now or later - no telling how long it would last. the fix vacuums, they do it well, and they do it quickly. I didn't really shop around so I'm not sure if their pricing is competitive.

Roosevelt Vacuum Center has been operating in our neighborhood as long as we've lived here...over 35 years. They are a family run business and our go to shop for everything related to vacuums...bags, parts, advice. We recently took our 30 year old Royal upright to them, hoping it was repairable but thinking the worse. It took a few weeks, but the Royal is back in service and doing very nicely. Wow, amazing service. I came in with a 10 year old Shark Navigator that had a problem with the brush rotator. Not only did Roosevelt Vacuum replace the broken part but I was stunned to see my vacuum cleaned inside out. It felt like it was Christmas morning, and I was receiving a brand new vacuum. Maybe it's standard service (I've never gone to a vacuum repair before) but regardless they clearly care about what they do and I am so glad I found them. Definitely recommend. read more

Absolutely one of the best companies !!! No need to go to any other repair shop. The people at the shop have an innate quality of wanting to help their customers. There is parking in the back, which is a help, the lot says it is for, I think Century link only but you will see there is a sign with parking for Roosevelt Vaccumn. read more

Came by on a Sunday with an older Eureka canister vacuum that was tripping AFCI protection and had eventually melted the wiring to the powerhead. Thankfully Roosevelt Vacuum had similar wire on hand and I was able to repair my vacuum to working condition once again! read more

Took our 6 year old Shark in when it lost the ability to suck. Turns out it was just super dirty! No idea vacuums needed deep cleaning but it works great again. They were very nice and fast. The art of repair is a dying breed and I'm glad such a store still exists so I'm not throwing one more thing in the landfill. read more

I bought my Miele vacuum from here and I also took it in when I was worried that I may have sucked up water and damaged the motor. They checked it out, cleaned it, and verified it was okay for a good price. They also sell vacuum bags and filters at this store which is convenient and most importantly they are friendly and helpful. read more

Helpful, friendly, and family-owned for more than 20 years. Many used vaccums, but they specialize in Miele. We bought our vacuum there and love it. It doesn't suck. Get it? Suck? Vacuum? Sigh. At any rate, it's better than buying from a huge mega-store or online. I had a great experience here. I brought in my broken vacuum, within 15 minutes they replaced a belt and sent me on my way. The best part -- it was all for under $4! Considering I'm the type of person who's first inclination is to throw away a broken vacuum, this place was great for my attention span. They were also very helpful and kind. read more

I took my old stinky vacuum in to be serviced. The owner was upfront and considerate when providing me with an estimate for the cost of service (a very reasonable estimate considering the time and possible parts). The machine was repaired to wonderful status in the timeline quoted to me (3 days). Also, I have two small children and the owner and his daughter were really nice to my kids. I love that this is a family business and it shows, because they treat families really well. They added years to my sturdy old vacuum and when it finally does die I intend to return to either try to fix it again or I will buy something new from them, because they are really good people running a good business. read more

Went here the other day to get our vacuum serviced after some clunking started coming from the brush head. They opened it up and found it just needed a quick vacuuming out of its own to clear some debris around the belt, and then it was running fine again. They also helped me figure out when to change the bag, including explaining how the little 'bag full' indicator works and why it isn't always right. They didn't even charge me for the quick clean-out, although I'd be happy to pay for it to support such a fine business. Going to be coming here for my vacuum needs for as long as I am in Seattle. read more

I had a great experience here after having trouble with me Riccar vacuum. Gloria (the third generation in the family to run this local shop) is a real expert. She pinpointed the issue, fixed it and had me on my way quickly and for a fair price. She even explained specific things about the vacuum that I didn't know (such as that my upright model shouldn't be used on wool area rugs due to the intense amount of shedding--the roller brush extracts too many fibers; and how all things go through the motor before entering the bag, so you have to be careful about the size of things you're taking up in it). It was worth going here even though there was a vac repair closer to my house. Glad I'd seen the other positive reviews. Highly recommended! read more

Had a couple repairs a few years back so felt they were the place to go even though they couldn't honor my Shark warranty (gotta send it to Shark... yech!). Called twice with no answers, left no voicemail. About 5 minutes later they must have checked their Caller ID 'cause they called me. I took my near new vacuum which had lost suction after a few weeks of use, to this center. The friendly young woman at the counter immediately took a look at it and found a blockage that she immediately removed for me. She then tested the vacuum and it was fixed! She refused any payment - I would probably have readily paid a significant sum to get this repaired (it wasn't a cheap vacuum). This speaks to the professionalism and caliber of this place and staff. "Someone" picked up a bit more water than was a good idea and burned out the motor in our Miele. I took it to a Quality Sewing and Vacuum in Bellevue who told me "it's toast, can't repair....here are the new ones for $1K". I then took it to Roosevelt Vacuum Center and they clearly know what they are doing. After a few days (as promised) I was called and given the estimate to replace the motor and control board -- water is a killer. After a couple of weeks (which they had estimated) I was called to tell me the vacuum was ready to pick up and the control board did NOT need to be replaced. Would I have know whether the control board needed replacement? No way! Honest people doing a great job of keeping vacuums running and not sent to the dump. I thought the charge, $270+ was more than reasonable, in particular compared to spending $1K for a replacement. I cannot recommend Roosevelt Vacuum Center enough. read more

Gloria is wonderfully knowledgeable and helpful, and I'm really happy to be able to go to a small, local business where the people really know their stuff. She was so helpful in explaining and discussing all the features and attachments of the (complicated) Miele lineup, showing me how everything works, unpacking, assembling, and helping me carry all the new equipment to the car, etc., and she switched out a slightly scuffed power brush from the new box even though it looked fine to me. I've had great service and help here in the past and may take my old vacuum in to see if it's worth fixing and donating--I'm certain to get good advice. read more

Service like you just don't find much anymore! I stopped by here last Saturday morning with the power attachment of my 25 year old Kenmore canister vac. The part was was frozen and unusable. The young woman at the counter stopped what she was doing, took the attachment apart, replaced the broken roller, tested it, replaced a dirty HEPA filter, and for $60 sent me on my way with a vacuum that now works like new! The experience made me happy for the whole day, and reaffirmed my faith that one can still find quality service. Highly recommended. read more

My vacuum lost its suction abilities, and instead started spewing out dust. I took it to one local repair shop and they gave me a "Basic diagnosis and repair" quote for $70. I then took it in to Roosevelt Vacuum Center to get a second opinion. The lady there spent about 5 minutes on it and found that the issue was as simple as a something blocking the inside of the hose. She removed it and voila! It worked great again, and she only charged me a few dollars for a new filter. That kind of expertise, customer service and honesty is something worth my loyalty. I will definitely be coming back here for any vacuum repair or purchase needs! read more
