Thought our old Starbucks Barista machine (Saeco) had finally died. We've had it so long it's part of the family so we thought we'd se if it could be resurrected. Called Espresso Repair Experts. Very knowledgeable, very friendly. Said it sounded like all it needed a tuneup and bring it in. They checked and yes, all it needed was a tuneup. He did suggest that since the pump was 19 years old it would make sense to replace it. We did. He said with any kind of luck should be good for another 19 years. Our old machine needed extensive repairs, and was repaired for $418. It works like new, and was less than buying a new one. We also kept our old machine out of the landfill, so it feels like a win. The communication and timing could have been a little better, but I believe this was the best option for us and our old Delonghi super automatic machine. read more

Great experience. We live a few hours from Seattle, but drove over and dropped off our Phillips Saeco espresso machine with Henry. He let us know upfront what the lead time was, which was fine; we just switched to drip coffee for awhile. He also contacted us before repairs to let us know what the problem was and what our options were along with costs. He also offered to ship it back to us for a reasonable price, so we didn't have to drive back to Seattle. Henry fixed my gaggia accademia super automatic machine. It's rare to find someone who fixes them. I don't live in Seattle and happened to be visiting my SIL. I took my machine with me from NID in hopes that I could find someone out there to fix it, there's is no one near us (within 1.5 hr drive) that fixes them. I called several shops around the Seattle area and this was the only one that works on them. Not only are these guys the only ones that work on this machine in the Seattle area (Possibly the entire PNW), but they have GREAT customer service, and are so reasonably priced. Speedy turnaround, and shipping arrived quicker than I thought it would. My machine arrived very well protected in how they packaged it, with instructions on priming it. I made my first cup upon arrival and it seems to be working beautifully & flawlessly. Thank You ERE!!! You guys rock! read more

Can't say anything negative about this business. Sent my Saeco Super automated espresso, coffee maker to them for repair. My machine is about 15 years old and recently quit pumping water. Did a little searching and found this business showing great reviews. I can see why. The shipping process was well spelled out on their website. I sent it in over the holidays so there was a little delay for them to get to it. Within a few days of the new year, they called me back with information on repairs needed. I told them to go ahead and do it. The next day I received a ups delivery notification and the day after that we got our machine back in perfect working order. I didn't mention the dispenser as having a problem, but it wouldn't hold position detent. They either replaced or repaired my dispenser nozzle which wasn't even mentioned on the invoice. They also replaced the frothing nozzle which I hadn't included with the shipment. Henry was up front with me on the phone and mentioned that due to the age of the machine it is pretty much impossible to find parts for it. He pretty much gave me a opt out on the repair honestly saying that it might not have a lot of life left. I would use this company again and I would recommend it to others. read more

Very impressed with the service and care given to my geriatric Saeco here! They were very upfront that it has issues beyond what can be fully repaired at this point. Though they could get it running, they could not promise for how long. They recommended against repair and instead investing in a new mahcine (that they do not sell, so no benefit to them). It has sentimental value though, so went ahead with the fairly minor repairs that would get it working for whatever time it has left, and they swiftly completed the work. Hoping it surprises us all and lives forever, but should it not and i gte a new machine, this will definitely be my go to for any work it needs! read more

Ok, Seriously, Thurston is like the espresso machine whisperer. We have an older machine that has some serious sentimental and historical value to us (It used to be owned by Gary Larson, the Far Side cartoonist and we are huge fans). It had some mechanical problems that Visions said they could not fix, another local shop looked at it and said it was dead and could not be revived. I was told that not only was the brain (motherboard) dead but that there were other problems that needed attention as well. So after some exhaustive research on the best espresso tech in Seattle, the name that kept coming up was Thurston (who at the time worked for another shop and had finally opened up his own shop). We took the machine to him and he never even hinted that it couldn't be fixed. In fact I think he was relishing the idea of how he could fix the problems. Yes, the brain was dead and was no longer available but he didn't care. Yes other components needed some work but he didn't care about that either. Thurston is the Honey Badger of espresso techs. End result? He fixed the machine. He created a controller that replaced the functions of the old brain, he rewired some components so they worked BETTER than before. Now we have a fully functioning machine that works better than when we took it to him. He has evened offered tune ups for it as needed. His skill and expertise are far beyond any of the techs I have come across to date and his bedside manner is impeccable. There is only one espresso repair tech in Seattle as far as I am concerned. We were very sad to find our Delonghi leaking water. It was purchased in 2011 so we did some research to have it repaired. Wes said it would need all O rings replaced and stem valve and infuser rehabbed. All done in a few days just before a house full of company arrived. It is working perfectly now. After reading reviews here, we made phone contact about six months ago, as we live two hours north of Seattle. One of the experts kindly gave us free advice on a temporary fix for a broken magnetic sensor that allowed us to keep our old Solis machine working for the time being. We finally dropped off our machine when flying out of SEA on a recent two-week European trip, giving them carte blanche to replace the pump and doing anything necessary to keep our beloved machine working. They repaired it promptly and told us on our return that the pump was fine and didn't need replacement. The total charge was less than $200, a very pleasant surprise, considering their expertise. Our machine is back home and working like new. These people are indeed experts, and they are also honest and friendly. We highly recommend them. read more

We have a 10 year old delonghi magnifica xs coffee machine that we are very attached to (it was a wedding present from a now deceased grandma - we named it after her. Meet Asta). We had had a great experience three years ago with Espresso Repair Experts resuscitating Asta The Coffee Machine and she had chugged along until this summer just fine. Due to schedule logistics I made the mistake of first bringing her to a Bellevue appliance repair shop with the naive thinking that the experience would be similar. They not only did not fix what was ailing Asta but the bill was very high and they insulted Asta by saying she probably just needed a good cleaning. We were mourning what we thought was Astas imminent death when I realized that the place in Bellevue was in no way connected to Espresso Repair Experts. As a last ditch attempt to revive her, I brought Asta in, fully anticipating them to tell me it was time to say goodbye. Alas! They did not. They found a broken water sensor, fixed her up, charged me half the cost of those other poor coffee machine physicians and sent her home. She is now spouting out frothy lattes and hot coffee like the pro she is! NEVER go anywhere else but to these guys. Friendly, honest, and they KNOW coffee machines. read more

First off, people in Seattle are crazy about coffee. Even though I am not originally from Seattle, I pride myself on being one of those crazy coffee people. I love coffee. Especially when it is done right. Sometimes that can only be achieved at home. Now that I have that out of the way...I have a really old Saeco espresso machine that has been sitting in storage. I could not throw it away because of the history we had together. This was the best machine ever. I could pull espresso shots that rivaled the best coffee shops in Seattle. I was so proud of this machine. A few years back I gave up on it because all of a sudden it stopped working. I decided to buy a new fancy thing that was really expensive and makes just average coffee. I have lived with the average coffee that comes out of a $1000 dollar machine for too long. I now find myself buying coffee every morning rather than using my fancy contraption. I really loved my Saeco and miss it. I am tired of paying for coffee so I decided to find a technician to look at my old espresso machine. I took my machine to the guys at Espresso Repair Experts. Josh and Thurston were awesome! I told them my problem and they gave me an estimate. I decided to take a detour rather than go home and went shopping at Northgate Mall. Two hours later I got a call from the guys saying my machine was fixed! I could not believe it. I swung by on the way home to pick up my machine. The guys told me all my machine needed was a tune-up. They opened up the machine and cleaned out the boiler or lines or something like that. I could not believe it. I was so mad at myself. My machine has been sitting in a closet for years when I could have just taken it to Espresso Repair Experts and had it fixed. Stupid me for buying the $1000 dollar machine. These folks used to have a small shop up north on Roosevelt, in the Wedgwood district of Seattle. I have a gleaming chrome ECM Giotto that we've used to pull an average of 8 to10 shots a day for a decade, and when it gave up the ghost, two or three years ago, I took the Giotto and the companion Pasquini Moka grinder in for nose to tail repair and renewal. Thurston quickly diagnosed the problem with the Giotto and within two days, my espresso machine and grinder looked perfectly clean and shiny and worked just as they did when brand new. The price was fair and I was extremely gratified to find a small shop doing such good work for a such a fair price in this day and age. Alas, when it came time for another repair a day or so ago, I contacted E.R.E. again at their new Georgetown location. The word came back that they no longer work on "prosumer" manual and semiautomatic machines like mine, or at least they do not keep parts on hand and cannot do the work without a long wait for special order parts (mine probably needs a new pump and/or boiler element, from what I can tell). The reason? Like the five/six speed stick shift, real espresso machines have pretty much gone the way of the dodo, and E.R.E. had to go with the flow. Seems they mostly work on those superautomatic home machines now, or so Henry advised me. I'm sure they still do great work and would highly recommend them if you have one of those push-a-button-and-cappuccino-spits-out things. Sad to say, if you have -- dare I say it -- a real espresso machine, it seems you have to look elsewhere. If I could still go to E.R.E. for my repair work, I would definitely give them five stars PLUS. I was really, really happy with their work. Alas, I gotta dock a star since it seems they have given up on the few remaining die hards and fanatics who insist on pulling their own shots with high-end 'prosumer' manual or semi-automatic machines. read more

My husband has a fancy pancy espresso machine that breaks down in one form or another every year. It's the plumbed in kind so a seal is leaking or something to that effect. (I am still old school stove top bialetti, but I digress....) His machine is CRAZY heavy and when it breaks down, a pall sets over the house as the reality of it needing to be lugged into a repair shop yet again settles in. We have tried 2 other local repair shops on multiple occasions and our recent visit to Espresso Repair Experts was our first visit to them. So first of all, over the phone, they were already fantastic. Thurston was really knowledgeable, completely instilled confidence, knew our machine, knew the problems commonly associated with it. We decided to bring it in. They even offered to carry this crazy heavy beast inside for me which I really appreciated.... Brought it in, they turned it around in literally a third of the time anyone else locally has turned it around and kept us abreast of the developments. Lastly, when we got it back they not only repaired it but "polished the brass" so to speak and it is gleaming and operating in rare form due to the general tune up and knob cleaning etc.... The repair shop is straight forward and non-discript and they staff is competent, kind and awesome. They went above and beyond, on the phone, in person and regarding knowledge of their craft and our machine. If you're looking for GREAT service and fair prices - then look no further. I shopped around a bit, and everybody else needed me to leave my wife's espresso machine with them for close to a month! Let me tell ya, like the ole' saying goes 'when momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy' - as far as my wife being without her machine. Okay, I probably showed my age with that one, but still. And on top of that, if we had to go a month without a machine, she would have been spending almost $4/day at Starbucks - a not so cool $120/mo just to be without a machine. But not with these guys........they ended up fixing my machine the same day I brought it in. Now I don't know if they can do that all the time, but still - they will not need you to leave your machine with them for more than a few days probably at most. And they are very reasonably priced - AND they know what they're doing. But anyway, these guys are great. Take your espresso machine to them. Thurston is a ROCK star and Josh is great too. I live in Southern California, nowhere near any espresso machine repair shops. I had been attempting my own repairs to my Delonghi Dedica (water pump, steam wand) and got stuck at a certain point and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. I assumed I had got over my head and emailed ERE to see if it was worth sending my machine in for repairs.
