We did not actually end up needing our refrigerator repaired, but when I was calling around on a Monday morning after we couldn't get our refrigerator to turn on, Appliance Express was the only place we talked to that was able/willing to fit us in within that day, whereas every other place we talked to said we would be lucky to get serviced by Wednesday, which isn't a great thing to hear when you've just gone grocery shopping the day before. The compressor was not running -- he was able to replace a relay and fix it (I am still not sure what that means exactly, but now the fridge is working fine). My review is going to sound like an echo of the others: 1. Jim said he'd be at my house between 10 and noon (as opposed to places that say between 8 am and 2 pm or something along those lines). I just got off the phone with Jim. I'm fairly handy so I explained everything I'd done so far to unplug my slow draining washer which was a lot but was having trouble removing one of the hoses. He spent the time with me explaining that the pump might be broken but advised that before I replace that part to get that difficult hose off because that could be the problem. He wanted to save me the money. I asked so he told me about what it would cost for him to come. Totally industry standard reasonable. If I can't get this to work, I'm calling him. Set an appointment, went home from work and waited for two hours, and the guy never showed up. I called him, and he had no recollection of scheduling the slot two days ago, but said he'd be right over. Waited 30 more minutes, nothing, so back to work. No, there was no discussion of getting back to you. You asked for the make of the oven, our address, and phone number, which I gave you. You then said that we were close to you. I took time off of work and waited at our house from 12PM until 2PM. At 1:30PM I called you and you had no recollection of our conversation at 6:04PM on Tuesday, but you were coming right over. I waited another 30 minutes - remember, I'd already been waiting 1.5 hours - and then I left to go back to work. I left a note: "Waited two hours. Will find someone else." If a new customer decides not to wait beyond the two hour window for a technician who forgot the appointment seems childish to you....good luck. read more

I was horrified when the element in my Kenmore Elite dual fuel oven started sparking when I was preheating it yesterday evening. After being referred to Appliance Express by my realtor Rudinoff Residential, I called at 9:15pm, fully expecting to leave a panicked message requesting service ASAP. I was shocked when the owner Jim answered the phone! He asked for a photo of the make and model information panel, the faulty element, and the appliance, then told me he'd look into things in the morning. I called Jim on a Saturday when my fridge/freezer went out (I came back from vacation with a mold factory in there - totally gross). Jim was compassionate on the phone and guessed about the probable repair and said he'd look for the part, then called back quickly and came right over - even though he'd just returned from a vacation, himself! The fridge is in a tight nook and he totally jimmied it out, put in the new part quickly (claiming it would work better than oem and last longer - yay) and put the fridge gently back in place. I was referred to Jim by an appliance store, and he came by to fix our refrigerator no more than 45 minutes after I called him. Jim told me that, while he could come out and look at it in case there was some minor issue that could be fixed, he didn't recommend it. My dishwasher failed Friday night (of course!). Saturday morning at 9am I called 3 separate local businesses well rated on yelp. Appliance Express was the only one of the 3 that got back to me (still true after 12 hours), and he called me back within an hour. Somewhat surprisingly to me, he was able to diagnose my problem over the phone and told me a simple (but non-obvious) fix for my problem. Jim was able to come by within 2 hours of calling about the old & adored Kenmore washer we inherited with our house. Spotted the problem right away, had the parts, gave a quote right away. He fixed the issue (and another that was seen after disassembly for slightly more). Our job was not an easy one due to a support pillar & oven close to the machine and cracking wallboard laid as floor support under the washer left by a former contractor.
