This place is amazing!!! The owners truly care about their craft. I love the ice cream sandwich - the chocolate cookie is a game changer. Would recommend coming early because they sell out! THE BEST!

What a great little ice cream find. Love the ice cream cookie sandwiches, and the Affogato (ice cream with espresso) was to die for! They very easily could have charged double and I would not have blinked an eye. Great flavors at a great price!

Decadent ice cream is at the heart of this charming establishment. The prices may seem a little on the steep side, b it the flavor than makes up for the cost. The ice cream cookie sandwich in particular was divine, an adjective I don't typically use for ice cream. I also tried to hot chocolate, which was great in its own way. Come try this place!

Quite frankly I've only had this place due to them generously being available at our school, LUCOM. But from what I've had from them and other instances, their cookies and ice cream are stellar! The proper temperature of ice cream, enough to be creamy, not hard, no ice crystals, and start melting immediately in your hands when you start eating your ice cream sandwich. The cookies are soft and give when you bite them but not so soft they crumble. All in all, other than the original location of the food cart, I would go to rookies far more than them visiting our school. Fantastic frozen treat for a good medical school pick me up.

Absolutely love this place! I am quite loyal to another ice cream place in town, so I had my hesitations about trying Rookie's and feeling regret for not going somewhere else for my ice cream craving. I was surely not disappointed! I would be 100% happy with either the ice cream or the cookie by itself, so both together is amazing. I don't know how they make the cookies so perfect that they don't fall apart when you bite into the sandwich, they're still soft, and there is no sacrifice for the flavor! I thought for sure I was going to have to settle with eating with a spoon, but everything stayed together surprisingly well. was overwhelmed with the number of choices (in a good way) for all the combos of cookie and ice cream you can pick from. Just means I'll have to be back to try more (and I look forward to).

There are simply no words to even describe how amazing this place is. Again, we just moved here and were told to go here and I am so glad we did and I would come back every day if my waistline could afford it. It is simply homemade ice cream sandwiches to die for. I would fly in to this state to get this if we didn't already live here now so I am excited to be able to frequent Rookie's as much as my waist and pocketbook can afford. Cookies are made on the spot and the various ice creams and milk come from local Homestead Creamery. Absolutely amazing times about 1000 is all I can say. read more

This place has the best ice cream sandwiches I've ever eaten in my life. The cookies are fresh, soft in the middle, and crisp on the outside. They have chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, or double chocolate cookies and vanilla, chocolate, mint chip, and espresso ice cream. Also, they have fresh milk on tap to enjoy with 3-a dozen cookies. Wow! Definitely a hidden gem for sure! You may miss it as it's a small food truck to the side of Aylor's in Forest. The people couldn't be nicer and more helpful. There are several options on cookies and also ice cream. They use Homestead Creamery ice cream and milk, which I think is what sets them apart from a typical ice cream sandwich, along with the freshly made cookies. I got a deconstructed ice cream sandwich, which makes it easier to take with you. Best cookie sandwich ever! There will be a line at night and in the summer especially but worth the wait! read more

So I've had this gift card from my daughter since last May-Mother's Day. I've used it a few times and decided today that I wanted ice cream. And here I am waiting in line and I thought I heard the F word repeatedly on the song over the sound system. I asked the young gentleman in front of me, to me sure. He thought so too but didn't seem bothered by it. It's my turn at the line and I ask if it's a radio or a playlist that we're listening to. The young lady seemed confused. I explained why I asked. I told her there was a young girl maybe 9/10 years old standing there and I personally found the song offensive. She said it was a selection of songs my the manager/owner. It was probably a mistake. I hope it was because it was very distasteful listening to while waiting to get ice cream. Mr. Manger/ Owner please check your playlist for profanity before you play music for your customers. I normally love rookies, however, with COVID i do not feel like they are protecting their customers. Twice I have been and the employees have not worn masks as they prepared and took my order. Another employee today was blatantly eating a cookie behind the counter as other orders were being made. I felt mad and uncomfortable ordering. read more

CELIAC SAFE I have been to Rookie's in the past and was blown away with the taste of the cookie accompanied with delicious ice cream. However, I had one problem... I was undiagnosed with Celiac Disease. Which means at the first bite I was hurting myself and immediately felt that I needed to throw up. I haven't been there in over two years because you usually don't go back to a business that makes you feel ill right? WELL. I was diagnosed early this year with celiac and have been very cautious about going out to eat if I do at all. Today I went back after inquiring about the GLUTEN FREE cookie they offer and the employee were very knowledgeable about celiac cross contamination. Needless to say, I haven't been able to enjoy a delicious soft cookie in an incredibly long time and now I have a safe spot I can go to with my friends and be included in social events again!! read more

We were visiting family in Virginia recently and before we even left NJ, we were instructed that going to Mookie's would be on our short list of must-do's. Well we were not disappointed. I miss this place big time. Old tyme creamy delicious milk, rich and buttery ice cream, and homemade scrumptious cookies that grandma would be proud of! M=Mouth watering. O=Oh so good. I have been a Rookie's frequent since they opened and until my last visit have had nothing but pleasant experiences. I was extremely disappointed that the last time I visited none of the workers was wearing a mask amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite this mask being required for restaurant and food service workers, I was more disappointed in the blatant disregard for the well-being of others. Not to mention that these people are paying customers that are the backbone of your business so I would think you would place more value in taking care of them. I will not be back read more

Super super cute aesthetic. I went at night with some friends and the lights and everything were so adorable and pleasant. There was a backdrop that said Rookie's on the top and it was the perfect place to take pictures. The ice cream sandwiches are SO good. Freshly baked cookies with the perfect balance of ice cream. Who doesn't love ice cream, cookies, and milk? Highlights offered by this Lynchburg staple include homemade, almost too-good-to-be-true cookies and fresh, local, creamy ice cream and milk from Homestead Creamery. The ice cream sandwich - a generous scoop of ice cream between two freshly baked cookies of your choice - is a popular classic, and a very delicious one at that! However my absolute favorite thing to get here is simply three cookies and a glass of milk. I've never tried a cookie or ice cream flavor here that I didn't like, but the double chocolate and the classic chocolate chip are both irresistibly incredible! Everything about the experience here is top notch, and it's just a fun place to grab dessert with some friends and hang out. If you don't like this place, you're wrong. The cookies are phenomenal and always fresh. The ice cream is great too. My personal recommendation is the ice cream sandwich "deconstructed" (2 cookies of your choice and the ice cream served in a cup) it's the best of both worlds. The "milk and cookies" choice is great too, as they serve milk from a local creamery. Definitely my favorite dessert spot in Lynchburg! read more

We had our daughter's graduation weekend celebration. I contacted them and asked to have 2 dozen ice cream cookie sandwiches for our guests. They were awesome to work with and I could make any combo of cookie and ice cream I wanted. I ordered with them a few days before . They were ready on time agreed and I picked them up . ~4.5~ They changed the name but to me it will forever be mookies haha so lemme tell you bout this place YALL they've set the bar high for ice cream cookie sandwiches. Tubs of cookie dough are made from scratch. Ice cream is DELISH and CREAMY. I've eaten here many times to say this is the best dessert place in town. They are on the sweet side though because of course ice cream and cookies together will taste extra sweet so that's why I rated 4.5. Other than that, they're sandwiches are superb! Ive heard of places where they sold stale cookies with the ice cream but not this place! Fresh every time. Definitely recommend when coming to Lynchburg/Forest. read more

Awesome cookies meet awesome Homestead Creamery ice cream. The combination is wonderful. The staff is very friendly, fast & courteous. My only dislike was the wooden spoons. Some of the ice cream will squeeze out of the cookies into the little serving tray so you will need a spoon to finish this treat. While I appreciate the eco-friendliness of the wooden spoon, I hate the texture of fresh wood in my mouth unlike a seasoned wooden mixing spoon in your kitchen. There are other eco-friendly alternatives I wish they would offer. I thought about going with four stars but didn't feel that was fair to take away a full star for a utensil and since I can't give them a 4.5, I went ahead with the five. read more

But it is no longer available. So with some concern, I ordered the Italian, toasted and fully dressed. Again, to be honest, it did look that great. Then I took a bite ... it was excellent. I have nothing but good things to say. I actually went back and had three sandwiches in a week. What was really good, was the team offered to make any sub from their previous menu. Overall, very positive experience.

The manager i had to speak to was very professional and apologetic for the issue we had. She offered to move us, give us a free dessert, she was trying to rectify a situation the hostess had caused. She did offer a discount on the bill which was appreciated but honestly I only voiced my complaint so hopefully it doesnt happen again. Now to the issue and the negative - the hostess sat us (me and my husband) at a table. No one around us then immediately put 3 tables together and we overheard they were sitting 15 people there. None of those 15 had inside voices and were extremely loud the entire time. We finally had to box our food up and leave. We had asked to be moved but honestly itd gotten to the point we were just annoyed that grown adults would be so loud and disrespectful in a nice restaurant. If your goal is to be drunk and loud go to bdubs or I dunno stay home so you dont ruin other people's dinner out. Overall we enjoyed the food and the staff aside from the hostess were great. We wont let this stop us from visiting again and will definitely speak up faster next time if put in a situation like that.

I love Rookie's. When I was in college at LU, this would be my go-to spot every week. Great for a date night, day out with girlfriends, family outing or just a pick-me-up. Now that I don't leave locally in Lynchburg, I get excited to hit Rookie's anytime we visit college friends. Such a great idea and cool concept. Excited to see the business grow!
