This place is amazing!!! The owners truly care about their craft. I love the ice cream sandwich - the chocolate cookie is a game changer. Would recommend coming early because they sell out! THE BEST!

What a great little ice cream find. Love the ice cream cookie sandwiches, and the Affogato (ice cream with espresso) was to die for! They very easily could have charged double and I would not have blinked an eye. Great flavors at a great price!

Rookies was a college staple for me and I try to make my way back there every time I'm in town. I remember back when it was just a small operation, and so I'm impressed with just how much farther it's come. The cookies + ice cream are so yummy and I also really recommend their chocolate milk. Pair the great desserts with the fun vibe and it just makes for a nice place to grab a great late night treat. read more

I have always enjoyed the black raspberry flavor between the lemon cookies. When I first came to college in Lynchburg, Rookie's was the first place I went with my hall. There are good memories behind it and the staff have always been so nice. I love the outdoor string lights and just the vibe of it in general. read more

I'm really disappointed with my experience here. My friends and I went in specifically for the cookie skillets, which are our absolute favorite. When we asked for one, the staff told us they were out, which was disappointing but understandable. However, we were shocked when we saw them serve cookie skillets to other customers right after us. It felt like they were just trying to brush us off. I don't mind when things run out, but don't tell us you're out and then serve them to others. I won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

How you pronounce the name idk but every time I'm in town I make sure to stop by for a delicious treat! Los Guidry's Thoughts and Recommendations: - Covid protocols are ok. I have noticed all the staff wears masks, and they provide hand sanitizer. However, I haven't noticed any employees come around and wipe down tables between customers. - Icecream and cookies are delicious! Rookie's has their classic staple flavors but they also have some seasonal flavors which makes you want to come back and see what's new. Last time I went I noticed they had vegan icecream options and those were yummy too! Thanks for adding vegan options to the menu. - Vibes are on point. They have string lights, music playing, and several picnic tables to sit at and catch up with friends. We recommend bringing some card games! Always adds to the fun. Overall I highly recommend coming to Rookie's. We all need something to cheer us up and nothing hits the spot like good ice cream and cookies. read more

While visiting our daughter at Liberty University, a student highly recommended this place for dessert. Found them on Yelp and knew it must be great, with 5 out of 5 stars--phenomenal. Quite literally the best dessert for its value I've ever had coupled with a fantastic aesthetic and environment. Simple menu with a selection that allows for many tastes, but you can't go wrong with ANY. The string lights and truck medium creates a small town, homemade feel. Rookies is definitely poppin all the time ! I usually am against places that are super hype because normally they are not worth the hype - but honestly I cannot lie rookies is worth the hype. The ice cream sandwiches here are the reason why I keep coming back ! I try to switch it up but the classic sandwich gets me every time (that might not be the official name of it) but the one with the classic chocolate chip cookies and the espresso chip ice cream in the middle . It is so good. GO TRY IT, and if you have already tried it GO GET IT AGAIN!!!! read more

When I heard they sold ice cream sandwiches, I imagined pre-made. What a pleasant surprise. They scoop the ice cream out and put it in between two soft, fresh cookies. It was delicious. I've been to mookies a few times and their ice cream and cookies have always been incredible. Recently they won me over as a lifetime customer with their incredible customer service. After getting engaged, my fiancé and I went to mookies for an after party with some of our friends. Somehow, the owner heard what we were celebrating and came out to congratulate us. I have nothing but good things to say. I actually went back and had three sandwiches in a week. What was really good, was the team offered to make any sub from their previous menu. Overall, very positive experience.

The manager i had to speak to was very professional and apologetic for the issue we had. She offered to move us, give us a free dessert, she was trying to rectify a situation the hostess had caused. She did offer a discount on the bill which was appreciated but honestly I only voiced my complaint so hopefully it doesnt happen again. Now to the issue and the negative - the hostess sat us (me and my husband) at a table. No one around us then immediately put 3 tables together and we overheard they were sitting 15 people there. None of those 15 had inside voices and were extremely loud the entire time. We finally had to box our food up and leave. We had asked to be moved but honestly itd gotten to the point we were just annoyed that grown adults would be so loud and disrespectful in a nice restaurant. If your goal is to be drunk and loud go to bdubs or I dunno stay home so you dont ruin other people's dinner out. Overall we enjoyed the food and the staff aside from the hostess were great. We wont let this stop us from visiting again and will definitely speak up faster next time if put in a situation like that.

They were always quick to respond to emails, answered every question thoroughly, and even sent photos of the room and table dimensions so I could plan decorations and linens from afar. Their communication and attention to detail were truly exceptional. The dinner itself was absolutely beautiful. The food was delicious, reasonably priced, and offered a great selection within the package we chose. We were especially impressed with how smoothly the staff handled a large group with many different steak temperatures and meal requests -- everything came out efficiently and perfectly cooked. When we were running short on time, Lindsey and Jessica even jumped in to help set up the room for us, which meant so much to our family. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine care made the evening feel seamless and special. If you are considering The Neighbor's Place for a private event or celebration, I highly recommend them. They helped create such a memorable night for our family, and we are incredibly grateful.

I love Rookie's. When I was in college at LU, this would be my go-to spot every week. Great for a date night, day out with girlfriends, family outing or just a pick-me-up. Now that I don't leave locally in Lynchburg, I get excited to hit Rookie's anytime we visit college friends. Such a great idea and cool concept. Excited to see the business grow!
