I love this little general store and I always find something special. The employees are friendly but not pushy and there's plenty to discover!

This place never fails to bring me joy! It has become my go-to spot for gift shopping in Indy. The vibe is absolutely wonderful and the owner is so friendly. Also, I hope everyone who loves me knows this is the prime spot to shop for ME. lol.

I enjoy going into independent gift shops and being able to find items, though familiar, are different from what I find elsewhere. Such is the case at Onatah. I pulled up in front of the building (free street parking on both the front and east side of the building) and climbed the few steps into the shop door on the northeast corner. There are lots of plants here for a small shop, most of them by the north window. There are also display tables in the middle and some racks/stacks along the walls with check out counter at the back. There are items like candles, and bath soaps and oils, incense, cards, and chocolates. There are some clothing items, but somewhat limited there. The overall sense is that of welcome with lots of small items to peruse. The woman behind the checkout table was friendly without being nosy. Upbeat in nature which is always appreciated too! I purchased one of the chocolate bars and she filled me in on why the store carried that line. This place is easy to find: just a couple blocks east of the fountain in Fountain Square in an area that has really turned the corner in development. I find more and more shops going in to appeal to the residents of the area. Review #3609

This shop is absolutely beautiful. It has a carefully curated section for candles, plants, close. And with any heavily curated shop, you're going to find either exactly what you were looking for, or nothing at all. It is still worth the trip. I went when Aura Aura was doing there aura readings and pictures. That, in and of itself, was absolutely delightful. It was so much fun having somebody read my aura. And now I have a pretty picture that I can keep with me all the time. They had shop items on sale during the aura picture readings. So of course we bought a couple of plants and some crystals and yeah we're hippies. And happy hippies we are. Thank you Onatah having the shop available to all of us and for bringing such wonderful pieces to Indianapolis. I will definitely be going back!

A REALLY UNIQUE EXPERIENCE…read more My husband made us reservations for 6:30, which is highly recommended. If you've ever been to Bottleworks on the weekends, you know that parking can be a bit of a challenge so plan ahead (we were almost late). When we walked in we were greeted right away and we jumped right in. You start with going through a wall of different scents. And when I say wall, I mean a literal wall of scents. There must've been 100 to go through. Once you list your favorites and find your top 3, you pick your vessel and head back to your area. We were surprised to see they had beers, wines, and seltzers available. Our "helper", Gracie, was really fun to work with. She took a look at our scent lists and made some suggestions on scent pairings. She was very friendly and attentive. After a few drinks in us, we started mixing and pouring until we handed our candles in to start the two hour setting process. They were about to close so we decided to pick our candles up the next day. Overall, such an amazing and unique experience and we'll definitely head back with more friends!

We went on a Tuesday night and pretty much had the place to ourselves. It's a gorgeous setting and fun vibe. They do serve drinks to enjoy during the experience. I had a lovely Rose. The process was pretty straight forward but a bit overwhelming at first. You get to choose from like 100 different scents and then narrow them down to 2-4. I believe it was Billy who helped us determine which would work well together. I was happy with how my candle turned out. It was ready the next day.

The staff that was there when I visited was pretty young, which could explain the laid back vibe--but they were all very nice, helpful, and super knowledgeable, which was awesome. Starting with the not so great: - A downside to this particular place is that instead of choosing different scents to mix, they already have them pre-mixed. For example, champagne and clean linen scents are already combined, rather than letting you choose and mix them yourself. Since it's structured this way, it does speed up the process, but I will say there are still a few pre-mixed scents you can mix together that would probably turn out smelling great. - When I went to pick up my candle a few days later, I was disappointed to find that it was damaged. Not sure how it happened, but I was shocked when I unwrapped it to discover it was chipped. Even more disappointing was that the staff wrapped a damaged item without mentioning it to me. On the positive side: - It's BYO food and drinks, which we loved. My friends and I brought a bottle of prosecco, charcuterie, and quiche to enjoy. Our server let us eat, drink, and chat before starting the candle pouring, which was perfect for catching up! - Parking is easy - Gorgeous vessels to choose from - Reasonably priced They also have a little gift shop with an assortment of trinkets!

They have a wide selection of vessels to choose from for pouring your candle. You first choose a vessel and the price varies. Then you choose your scent from the scent bar. We return in a few days to pick up our finished product.

From the moment we walked in, it was cozy chaos (they were busy, of course!), but Rebecca made the whole experience absolutely fabulous! We picked our scents, jotted them down, and chose our candle jars. Picking a candle name is always my favorite part! Rebecca was a total pro, giving spot on recommendations for which scents paired best together. I wasn't loving my top three picks at first. We actually ended up swapping scents from each other's selections, and it turned out AMAZING! The value is great for the experience. Our jars were just under $40 each I believe, but they have a variety of jar options starting at $25, plus a larger, higher value option for those who want it. Penn and Beech is perfect for a GNO, date night, or even a team building event with work. Fun, interactive, and totally IG worthy, definitely a Valentine's Day win!

Looking at all the scents in the store, the selection could seem overwhelming! But you are encouraged to take your time as you pick out your favorites. It is worth the time to evaluate and see what 2-3 scents you want to mix up. Value: The experience is priceless! But to make your own candle and have a drink could run about $30-$40, and I think it was worth it. This place is perfect for a slow chill day when you need calming, or even a date night! I'm definitely coming back!

I'm thinking I'm just going to purchase a snake plant. And I was introduced to the ZZ plant that is also very low maintenance but absorbs a variety of toxins. The young person that helped me told me that they also got the plant for their grandmother during her battle with cancer. He also steered me away from peace Lillies because we didn't want to give funeral vibes. It was a beautiful experience and I ended up getting her 2. The MXP Shop is on the Northwest side of Indianapolis, off of 79th & Michigan RD, as well as next to Memories Lounge and Just Wing It. Upon, entering the building there's no stairs, low sidewalk, and once in you'll see all the beautiful items in the shop. I was informed by one of the owners(TaKisha) that there are 16 other local Indy vendors at the MXP Shop from selling hair oils, beard oils, shea butter, clothes. Etc. You can do paint on canvas or even join the candle making classes. It took about a 2hrs process for the candle to actually become a wax. The steps on the candle making class are you pick out the glassware for your candle, add the warning sticker at the bottom, put the candle wick stick in the middle, then you'll select your candle fragrance which I chosen lemon, MXP Shop does offer a lot fragrances for the candle making classes. Then, once you select your candle fragrance, you'll pour in the glass, and then it's the waiting game. Since, during my time at the candle making class it was only me there so I spent my time talking with one of the owners at the shop while my candle cool down. Once, my candle wax appears to cool down, I received the candle care info, a free wax melt which I chosen holiday cookie, and the total of my candle making class was $40 plus $4.25 Eventbrite fee. You can find MXP Shop on Eventbrite, they offer classes in the early afternoons to in the evenings, I highly recommend you check it out whether it's the paint on canvas class, or candle making class. Try to experience something new & different you'll enjoy. I must say my first time making a candle was very fun, and a new experience.
