We booked this restaurant in April for our wedding rehearsal dinner scheduled for October and paid the required deposit to reserve the date. As the event got closer, we reached out multiple times by email to confirm our reservation and finalize the menu. We received no response. We also repeatedly tried calling the only phone number listed for the restaurant, but it was not operational. It wasn't until we sent two strongly worded emails on Thursday that someone finally responded--only to tell us they had overbooked our date and were canceling our event. While they did refund our deposit, that does little to make up for the fact that we're now left scrambling to find a new venue with less than three months before our wedding. Had we not persistently followed up ourselves, it's unclear when--or if--they would have informed us. Mistakes can happen, but poor communication and waiting until the customer has to chase you down before admitting you've double-booked an event is unacceptable. If you're considering this restaurant for an important event, be aware that a confirmed reservation and deposit may not guarantee they'll actually honor your booking. read more

This is without hesitation a 5+ star experience. These farm to table supper parties are held during full moons which really adds such a great ambiance. Stepping back, this farm located outside of Bryan, Tx owned by Chef Bryan and wife Amanda, both of whom are great and down to earth couple that they now have incorporated a commercial kitchen that allows them to host these type of events. As part of the spread this farm has all the normal trappings you would find, i.e. chickens, pigs, etc. The couple are relatively new to the farming scene and as part of the animal tour they share their learnings of what's worked well and what hasn't which most people don't normally like sharing any of their shortcomings. Once the farm walking tour is complete you head back to the long outdoor wooden tables and benches all backed up to one another making a nice long long table that seats about 40-50 people, all appointed nicely with decoration and candles. To add to the experience are the outdoor lights strewn above head across the tables and tree branches. Something you would see in movies. After everyone has been seated and you've had time to finish your introductions with the other people seated next to you they begin serving their 9 course meals. All of which come from either their farm or anyone of their neighbor farms. These dishes aren't large dishes but give you an idea of the varied seasonal produce Bryan and Amanda grow. All the dishes were very tasty and some better than others, but you could really taste the natural organic flavor from what they picked from that day. As far as drinks its bring your own wine or beer so that helps keep the cost per individual to a very reasonable price at about $125+ tax p/person. By the end of the night the evening is finished off in the garden area that you follow the candlelight trail where everyone gets served coffee and desert under a full moon. How cool is that! So whatever you plan on doing next months full moon, drop what your doing and come here NOW! You won't regret it and you'll be wanting to come back again. read more

I have no hesitation giving them five stars. I came here for the Deer Moon dinner and it met and exceeded my expectations. They have full moon dinners every month with nine small courses. It is a pricey dinner (ticket sales close a few days in advance) and it's north of Bryan, TX (about 1 hr 30ish mins from Houston), but the ambiance and menu are unmatched. Ours included meats like octopus (I requested a sub and they did fish), venison, beef, and chicken. All Texas local ingredients, all freshly prepared. I'm talking dishes like fresh tagliatelle with venison and hyssop, homemade squash dumplings (possibly my favorite, but it's hard to pick a single favorite course), jerk chicken with sweet potato croquettes, and mille-feuille with a smooth chocolatey filling for dessert. It's BYOB and they send out pairing suggestions beforehand. They accommodated our meat substitution requests without issue. I loved getting to eat under the beautifully lit trees with the rustic table setting. We had a short tour of the farm before dinner and got to see their garden and some piglets running around. I honestly thought maybe the ambiance would be the big draw for me and that the food would be second, but this was truly one of my favorite meals of the year. read more

Had an amazing dinner in the barn last night. It was raining earlier in the day so I was upset dinner was going to be in the barn but the way tables and lighting were set up it was just as beautiful as I imagined it to be if we had dinner in the forest. The food is all locally purchased if not grown on the ranch. The seven course meal had bit of every type of meat (pork, fish, fen and beef). I am definitely coming back with a bigger group! I live in Houston, TX and was recommended one of their Full Moon dinners last year, which was an amazing experience! Since then I've been back twice with friends, attended a couple of the family style dinners and loved it every time. My wife and I have been to two Moonlight Dinners and both far exceeded any expectations that we had. After making the easy drive in from Houston we enjoyed a great tour of the farm and even better cuisine. The nine course meal was outstanding, the fresh ingredients and expertise behind the knife enhanced the flavor of each course. If you're hesitant about the location it was a very easy, scenic drive in (at least from Houston---1hr30min-45min) and we inadvertently realized it serves as an excellent midway point between Austin, Houston & Dallas. We're currently coordinating a weekend trip to meet college friends from Dallas & Austin on the farm for a moonlight dinner. One of the minor details that I enjoyed about the experience were the chimineas. At the most recent dinner the weather was chilly, however the dining areas are surrounded by multiple, intricately designed chimineas that kept the entire area heated & comfortable. The sound of a crackling fire throughout the meal was pretty relaxing. I asked Brian, the owner & kitchen ninja, about them and he told me they were purchased from a local seller just down Hwy 6. I love the fact that Ronin supports local Texas businesses. We will definitely be back and have a handful of friends signed up for future dinners. Definitely recommend to anyone in the Houston/Austin/Dallas areas in search of a relaxing weekend away or just looking for a unique dining experience. This is a restaurant at the edge of downtown Bryan. They have a farm outside of town and grow their own produce and livestock. We had appetizers and salad and drinks. All were amazing. Service was quick and our server was very friendly and well versed. We sat outside and enjoyed a spring evening. They do take reservations and I'd advise making one if you are going on a weekend. read more

I am happy to add 5 stars to the others here as this is among the best food in the area, if not the best. Chef Brian Light used to work at The Republicand is a creative genius. Their full moon dinners are a institution and fun when the weather is nice. It's BYOB, and multiple courses of food grown, harvested or hunted in this area. Wild pig has appeared for example. And here's the best part: this operation is about to become a permanent sit down operation in the Ice House on Mainin downtown Bryan. Attended one of their Under The Moon dinners. Food was superb and the setting was lovely. Really nice to see someone serving elevated but not too silly food from local farms and gardens. Fun to sit at a long table and meet other people which makes this way nicer than the usual restaurant experience. Would recommend it highly to anyone who happens to be anywhere near this area about 2 hours north of Houston. Would happily drive the two hours again to experience one of these dinners. I wish there were more people doing this (a very talented young chef and his wife) around the country. It is sadly needed. GO NOW, bring a big bunch of friends or just your significant other for a romantic evening. Would be a really impressive and unique first date! Could pick at a couple of little things, like the complete absence of knives until the last course, forcing me to "push" with my fingers the food on to my fork because it was so good and I wanted to eat every last bit, BUT the overall experience was so good a definite 5 stars! read more
