The café con leche was smooth and flavorful with that classic Spanish-style taste--8.5/10. I also tried the strawberry lemonade, which was refreshing, slightly sweet, and loaded with fresh strawberries. Easy 8/10. For food, I had both the beef and chicken empanadas. They came out warm, fresh, and packed with flavor. I'd give each a 7.8/10. The real highlight is the atmosphere. The back area was a great place to sit and watch FIFA, and the overall vibe was relaxed and welcoming. It's the kind of café where you can enjoy a coffee, grab a snack, catch a game, or post up with your laptop and actually get some work done. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

The mango matcha sounded good but got the pina colada instead. The flavor was lacking. Not overly sweet but also didn't have much of a pina colada or even a matcha flavor. The Manager/owner went above and beyond to make us comfortable, was genuinely happy to create our selections, and added to the enjoyment of the visit. The beverage items were: Iced Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso (Espresso swirled with brown sugar, cinnamon, and milk). I really enjoyed this beverage. It was served in a large glass and the presentation was appealing. It showed the flavorful espresso at the bottom 1/4 of the glass and after mixing it all together.....wow! The next choice was the Mocha Latte, with slim milk. The only thing I'll mention about this drink was, that it was the best they've ever had, annnnnnnnd they've had a lot of them. Thank you, Iconic Coffee, for creating a business with a welcoming atmosphere and a relaxing ambience. I'll happily return and will gladly spread the word. :-)

The long window of treats and eats attests to this, with the pastries and baked goods greeting the eyes first. Further down the line, there are prepared pizzas, and even further, there are sandwiches and signs posting the specials of the day. My husband and I initially walked in with the intention of grabbing a croissant, but we couldn't help ourselves and nabbed a spicy salmon sandwich to share. Ordering was a cinch, and since we were dining in, we were directed to grab a seat. Seating space is aplenty, with an entire half of the interior dedicated to tables. On a weekend morning, there were lots of patrons visiting, and even then, there were lots of seats for us to choose. I'm typically a purist at heart, but there was no stopping me once I saw there was a s'more croissant available. If and when you order one for yourself, they'll ask you if you want it warmed, and the answer is absolutely yes. The marshmallow got melty and gooey, and I gasped when I saw the chocolate inside. It's like a naughty pain au chocolat, and while it was a little on the sweet side for my own preferences, I could see this going over well for those chasing cavities. The spicy salmon was also surprisingly decent, with crunchy bread and salmon that was dressed with a good kick. I noticed there were some other tables with lingering parties, who had clearly long finished their food but weren't being pressured or chased away. I'd recommend Patis Bakery for those who might want to work or sit with friends for a longer time in a cozy space.

We ordered a classic sausage, egg, and cheese on a roll and this time, I also wanted to investigate their bagel game. I ordered an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese and it took just a few bites to remind this newly transplanted Southerner that bagels in the Northeast are in a league of their own. Food comes out fast. We both watched admiringly from our tables as the short order cooks moved like tornados at the grill, furiously beating bowl after bowl of eggs to fulfill the counter endless string of orders. That's another thing. During the whole half hour we dined at a table, things never quieted. As soon as a table cleared, someone else would grab it right away. Over the years, I've found that when in doubt, it's best to follow the crowds. On most Saturday mornings, it seems this is the place where all the crowds in Ridgefield Park are congregating. This breakfast spot is as local as it gets. As a lover of small business, I can't tell you secretly happy I get to see lines at the door here while the Dunkin Donuts across the street languishes.

Java Day Cafe came up and it was really close to both of us so we decided to come here. The place is nestled in a small strip mall with other stablishments so luckily that means there's ample parking. There's also a fair amount of seating. You order at the counter and let them know if you want to take your food to go or if you'd like to dine-in. I was pretty hungry coming off a 12-hour shift so I got the Hungryman sandwich with a hash brown on the side. They have a few options as far as French toast goes and my girlfriend decided on Nutella stuffed. Our food came out rather quickly considering how busy they seemed to be. A few other parties were dining in and a good amount of people picked up takeout. My sandwich was much bigger than I anticipated but it was delicious. The various meats brought the saltiness and savory flavor I was looking for and it all paired well with the eggs and cheese. The bread it was served in had a nice crunch to it which is always appreciated. The sandwich was great but the next time I get it I have to add the SPK (salt, pepper, ketchup for you non-Jerseyans). I also tried some of my girlfriends French toast. It looked really good and I think I saw them take a picture before bringing it to our table. I'm not mad at that, as a Yelper I'm a firm follower of phone-eats-first! The French toast was delicious. It wasn't overly sweet and the bread had the all-important crunch. Walnuts also added good texture to everything. I think the only thing stopping me from rating this place 5-stars is the price. It's definitely on the pricier side. My girlfriend and I got coffees with our food and everything came out to a few bucks short of $50. Nevertheless, a very solid breakfast spot. I could see myself coming back. I found it weird that they have such nice plates but they only have plastic utensils. Not a knock on them, just a quirky thing I noticed.

Unfortunately, the matcha flavor itself was pretty minimal for me. It seems like the matcha powder is really just dusted on top rather than blended into the shaved ice itself, so once you get a few bites in, it turns into a pretty plain, sweet shaved ice with not much matcha flavor coming through. It was also sweeter than I'd typically expect from a matcha dessert, which usually leans more bitter/earthy. One thing that stood out (and not in a good way) -- they charged $0.50 for a cup of ice water. Small thing, but a bit of an odd touchpoint for a dessert spot. On the plus side, it's in a plaza with plenty of parking, so at least getting there and finding a spot was easy.
