5 Stars from me. His office was very kind, helpful, informative and even tho I had a tooth ripped from my head I barely felt any pain. His staff, repeatedly, explained what they were going to do and kept explaining while they were doing it. This set me at ease. My procedure will be pricey (my own fault for not going for so long) but every step was great, even the tooth extraction. McKay himself is very knowledgeable and talked me thru every step while he was removing my tooth. People always compare a root canal to death but he made it very bearable, I dare say pleasant. The real pain came later with the cleaning by someone else (who was also very knowledgeable and careful) but again, my own fault for waiting so long. She was very good at cleaning and looking forward to seeing her again (my gums, not so much hee hee). I have a lot of follow-up visits but I no longer fear going to the dentists. Just had my first appointment with Dr Lai and Gita (dental hygienist). I had been putting off finding a new dentist for quite some time--my insurance changed and once I have a dentist I trust, I find the prospect of working with a new one a bit scary. A friend highly recommended Dr McKay and this office, so I decided to take a chance. I was able to get an appointment the same week that I called with one of his partners, Dr Lai, which was super convenient. It's a bigger and busier office than I have visited in the past, but they seemed very organized and efficient. I don't think I waited longer than 5 minutes to be taken to a room. I first met with Gita-- I don't know if I'm more amazed by her knowledge and skill as a hygienist or her bedside manner. Both were amazing! (I am actually going to follow up with her in three months, out-of-pocket, because I was so happy with this visit.) While I would return to this office for Gita alone, I was also very pleased with my visit with Dr. Lai. (And honorable mention to her assistant, Roxanne, for being so kind and attentive!) When I was younger, I always hated going to the dentist because of bad experiences I had encountered in the past. This was not the case at all with Dr. McKay! He does a great job with all of your dental needs. I've come here for a crown, root canal, teeth cleaning, and wisdom tooth removal. I never felt pain once while I was having these procedures. The staff are also very friendly and nice, as they check up on you and ask if you need everything. Overall, if you're in need of a good dentist, I would recommend it here. read more

They often ask to pay up front. Which should only be copay. Everything else should run through insurance. Very odd. They did the same to my husband. Then they wouldn't refund him, only gave him credit to their facility for a future visit. Also the last 4 appointments were all incorrect. No matter how many times I called to confirm. They made errors in time, days and the actual work I needed done. Scheduling is certainly the worst. (I have had issues now for 2 years) my hygienist was very thorough, as was the doctor himself. And many of the women are extremely sweet and helpful. Triple confirm your appointments! And don't let them scam you with paying first! read more

Imagine if Jesus and Mandela got had a baby and that baby was a Dental Clinic! YEAH, I said it. I'm getting a substantial amount of dental work done, so I've done a lot of research and have visited a lot of dental facilities throughout Los Angeles... And this is the first time I have ever been really, really impressed. I was ushered into the building by a very nice parking attendant, where I was immediately greeted by a large waiting room and a if very gracious staff that was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Within five minutes I was already being walked through the maze of uber-clean rooms and work areas. They performed x-rays, and a variety of deep cleaning procedures and at no time did I feel any pain, nor was I pressured, the whole experience was wonderful. Dr. Ron was awesome, the staff were tremendous. This place is a five out of five, but if there were more stars I would give it to them. If you're going to get dental work done and you don't go to these guys, well... Best of luck. read more

First off I am dentophobic I hate going to the Dentist. I rather have my kidney removed than go to the Dentist. My wife started going to Dr. Ron and had a great experience. She said I should try going there. Reluctantly I made an appointment went there expecting to run out at any minute I felt uncomfortable. It never happened. Everyone there went out of way to make me feel very comfortable. I have since had two appointments and each one (as nervous as I was) was very pleasant with the least amount of pain I've ever had. They also helped so much with the paperwork for insurance. In closing let me say never thought I'd find a Dentist that made me feel at ease. Thank you Dr. Rod and your great staff. read more

I've been coming here for a little over a year, and had positive experiences when it came to routine cleanings. I recently came in and dropped almost $600 for zoom whitening. The results were barely noticeable (my teeth are pretty white to begin with), and the custom trays that were made do not fit. I even had the impressions redone so a new set could be made, and they still don't fit. Whoever does their lab work clearly does not take pride in their work. My mother worked in orthodontics most of my life, and the molds of my teeth they sent back were laughable. I know what proper molds/casts of teeth look like, and how well-made trays should fit. DO NOT GO HERE. By far, the worst dental experience I've ever had. They will try to sell you on procedures they say are necessary. The hygienist had horrible bedside manners. She compared my teeth to that of a 60-year-old person and said I needed a deep cleaning. Naturally trusting them, I got it done and then was stuck with a huge bill, charging me upfront even though they said my insurance would cover it. They charged such insane rates that it surpassed the annual max amount my insurance covers, and that's after ONE procedure. I showed my friend who's a hygienist the X-rays, and she said I did not need a deep cleaning it all. COMPLETE SCAM. read more

Dr. McKay is now officially the BEST Dentist in town. I say now because his predecessor, Dr. Albus has retired. I'm going to be brutally honest. I dislike...really dislike going to the dentist. Stems from my childhood Dentist who was anything but gentle and the fact that I have sensitive teeth. But I have to admit Dr. McKay is impressive. Gentle, caring and charming. I won't be coming back. I was overcharged for root canal and 2 crowns. After coming home and looking at my crowns in natural light, they are wrong color. The lab they used messed up my 1st crowns they made. The 2nd ones are not right either. I've have better service in another state than this place. My teeth cleaning could have been better. One tooth feels gritty and she didn't get coffee stains off. She didn't use the blue light to lighten them. Very disappointed. read more

Dr. McKay and his staff were so wonderful, and although I was a new patient they knew immediately how to take care of me and help me with my dental emergency. Let me tell you, I was in dental hell for about 3 weeks in pain not being able to sleep or eat properly. When I got there, the doctor informed me that I needed a tooth extraction and my wisdom tooth removed. Double boo, but what can you do when nature decides to screw with you? Anyway, I obviously opted to do what they recommended and I was so nervous but the staff made me feel very comfortable and explained all the steps that would happen. I was basically given a step by step run down of what was going to go down inside of my mouth and it made the procedure painless. As ironic as it sounds, I was the most comfortable and had the least amount of pain in weeks. I have had little swelling, no bruising and I'm just so relieved I went ahead and just got it all over with. A nice care package was sent home with me and I'm on my way to recovering. If you are nervous about dental work, try this place and it will change your mind the way it did mine. You even get your own tv while you wait, who does that these days?? My view of dental offices has changed indefinitely. read more

I saw Dr. McKay & Staff for my Invisalign treatment not too long ago and it was a very pleasant experience given that this was my second ortho treatment (since I wasn't satisfied with my orthodontist's work.) I've had to come to Dr McKay 3 times for the same issue. I came originally to get a crown. After explaining that the crown doesn't feel like it is fitting correctly, he insisted he did a proper job and told me to give it a week. I came back a week later because the tooth was bulging off on one side and wasn't properly aligned with the other teeth. He then ended up shaving it down. Upon completion of that job, the tooth still felt sensitive to tapping and felt like it wasn't properly fitting. He said it was good to go. He said there was a dark area below the tooth and there could be infection or a crack in the tooth he still suggested i get a crown. 7 months later, my crown falls out. I called to make an appointment for the first available slot. Upon arriving on time, they said they didn't have any of my medical records for some reason and asked that I fill out all the info again. Cool. But then after waiting 45 minutes, I politely asked when I might be able to be seen and they proceeded to tell me to go get lunch and come back in another 45 minutes. I said I wouldn't be able to do that as I had taken off work. They then brought me back pretty quickly. Dr. McCay came into the room reshaped my crown and placed it back on. I said that it didn't really feel like it was properly fitting so he shaved off some of the area that where i had discomfort. He placed it back in told me to bite down for two minutes and left the room. He didn't ask how does it feel now, he didn't tell me how to treat the new crown after leaving the dentist, and he left cement on my teeth that i had to point out to his dental assistant. Very u professional. Not to mention he always makes me feel like I'm unaware of what's happening by making it seem like it's my fault that i have discomfort despite spending tho sands of dollars with him. Got overcharged for all work. After paying $4000 out of pocket after insurance, he never returned my emergency phone calls. When confronted in person he acted like I didn't say anything. Put 1 crown on 2 teeth. Charged for 2 crowns & all paperwork claims 2 crowns. Had pain for 2 months & couldn't eat solid food. He didn't prescribe a pain medication & after 2 weeks prescribed a weak muscle relaxer that didn't help. No antibiotic which caused an infection that had to be treated by another dentist. Who gave me excellent service & did great work for 1/2 the price. Spare yourself the aggravation & pain & save your money. Outrageous behavior by a "professional" read more

Dr McKay wow what a breath of fresh air. It's been a while since I have seen a dentist. Funny I get my annual checkup with my PCP and see my orthopedic doctor yearly for my ankle but not my dentist. We I finally gave in and said let's see if there was any damage. First off none. 2nd Dr McKay talked to me and explained to me what was happening and going on with my teeth. He was honest and straight up with what was going on and what needed to be done to my mouth. Everyone who saw me were tops all pros no bs and they made the experience pleasant and joyous. I cannot praise this practice and Dr McKay enough. Also they are open on Saturday early in the morning. Another plus. read more

To start with, all my teeth have had crowns since the age of 20 due to an unfortunate mountaineering event.. that said, they are all now over 20 years old. I had a crown failure on a Friday night and needed to find a dentist open Saturdays to get it fixed. I sent an email through their website late Friday night and they called me at 8 am Saturday morning to schedule a 1 pm appointment. When I got there, the location was clean and advanced looking. Digital x-rays took just a second. The staff was very communicative on options and what the expected costs would be and everyone I interacted with (front desk, main and secondary dentist, and assistant) were very professional and friendly. Ironically I watched the food channel during the work being done, but I had no issues with that. The tooth under the crown was badly decayed so advanced work was needed and again they explained the options and were very patient and clear. In the end, I was in and out in about 2 1/2 hours after having an extraction and a triple bridge temp created. No pain throughout the entire experience and even today (next day) I have only taken 1 pain pill. The temp feels and looks good, and I suspect the final product will be equally great. The office was professional, very accommodating, and I believe that I will be having the rest of my aging crowns checked out once my primary issue gets fully resolved. Overall a very positive experience given the nature of the tooth issue. read more
