Great customer service. Friendly staff. Wonderful Dentist!! My dentist retired a few years ago and I needed to find a good Dentist. During the last two years I went to different general dentists and they referred me to a couple of famous root canal specialists. Both specialists recommended to extract my tooth and do implant instead. But I didn't want to extract my tooth. A month ago, I found another new dentist who referred me to a new root canal specialist Artin Davoodian. After Dr. Artin checked the X-rays that was sent by my dentist, he said that he can save my tooth and there is no need to extract it. He worked on my tooth for 45 minutes with no pain, and that was the most painless experience I've ever had at a dentist. Basically, not only did he save my tooth, he saved me money and time too. My general dentist, Dr. Sekimoto, referred me to Dr. Davoodian due to chronic tooth pain (bite sensitivity and temperature sensitivity) and possible needs for root canal. When I met with Dr. "D" I really loved how he thoroughly explained all my options and he didn't pressure me to immediately have a root canal. Mind you, I have already had 5 prior root canals, so I was in no rush to get another one. Dr. " D" suggested I wait for several weeks for the pain to go away. After 3 wks, my pain worsened and we decided to go forward with root canal. I was so relieved when he told me not to worry, and said," I will take good care of you." He was right. I just had my root canal yesterday and although there was the usual expected pain, I was happy with the quality of his work. My cousin who is an out of state endodontist reviewed the post op x-ray and said it was well done. Also, Dr. D Just called to check on my condition and explained post-op care- what a caring and compassionate man he is. I am glad I found the new endodontist in LA. I was referred to Dr. Davoodian to get a second opinion on if I needed a root canal. I was experiencing pain in my gums and jaw after a crown replacement, but it wasn't completely evident in the X-rays for 4 months that I needed a root canal. Dr. Davoodian was able to educate me about my the swelling of my ligaments and reassured me it would just need a root canal to start the healing process. Since I wasn't in too much pain, I was scheduled for a month later. My jaw pain started to get worse, so I called his office to see if I could come in earlier, and they slotted me in for the next day! I really appreciated that since they were basically fully booked, but they took me seriously and accommodated. The root canal process was so easy, painless and fast. I had no idea it would be that stress free. He prescribed me with medicine which I picked up the same day, and even called me the next day to ask how I was feeling. Had a great experience with Dr. Davoodian and team. Apart from routine teeth cleaning, I rarely have issues with my teeth and so I had a lot of anxiety when I found out I needed a root canal. Dr. Davoodian and his dental assistant was very calm and quick through the whole process. There were two specific devices that made my visit much more pleasant. Maybe these have been around for a while but I have never used them in a dental office. 1) The Bite Lock which propped my mouth open so I didn't have to strain my jaw and 2) the Rubber Dam? which was a flat piece of silicone that isolated the tooth and allowed nothing to fall back into my mouth. Mary at the front desk was also very helpful with my insurance. Lastly, they have easy parking behind the building which is always a plus. read more

Okay, first of all Dr. Davoodian was referred to me by my equally amazing Dentist, Dr. Adamian. First thing my dentist told me was "He is very good too". And, boyyy he was right. Let's start with the receptionist she was professional from the time I called to schedule and from when I got to the Dental Office, she was apologetic as well( My appt was at 4:30 but I had to wait for extra 20 mins because Dr. Davoodian was still attending to another patient) I work in healthcare as well and I don't mind waiting at all because you'll know a good Dr. when they take their time and don't rush the procedure of another patient. Next up, is Jenn she is very sweet too! And, of course Dr. Davoodian I was suppose to be in for just a consultation because my upper right tooth had been very sensitive and I'm in pain, I know he's tired and had been working all day on patients but didn't mind giving me treatment the same day because he knew I was in pain. I was referred to Dr. Davoodian by my dentist due to severe pain. The pain was so bad that even painkillers stopped working. As soon as I had my consultation with this amazing doctor, I knew I was in good hands. He carefully listened to my concerns and explained what was happening to me in simple terms so I could understand exactly what the issue was and he walked me thru the treatment plan. He was extremely caring and gentle, and made sure my pain became manageable until the procedure could be completed. After my consultation, he even offered to stay afterhours to start the procedure and help me with the awful pain, but I decided to take the medication he prescribed until I could go back the next day for my scheduled appointment. This office is wonderful. I was referred by my dentist because of tooth pain and they squeezed me in for a consultation almost immediately. I even went to him out of network from my current insurance just to have him for my root canal procedure. His ENTIRE staff are sooooo friendly, sweet and make you feel comfortable. I went 31 years without a cavity. 31! Not bad, but alas, it happened. The cavity turned into a whole debacle which required a root canal. Awesome, right?! Even though my dentist made a referral, the referred endodontist was a bit of a drive and my Yelp-tastic self doesn't do anything without price-checking and reading reviews. Hence, how I came upon Dr. Davoodian. Dr. Davoodian was near by, had a lower price, and 5-star reviews. So, screw my referral! I do what I want and Dr. Davoodian was the way to go! Being my first root canal, I was not experienced in the process or how to even go about making an appointment when this was not the doctor referred to me by my dentist. All of my anxiety was muted by the wonderful staff here. I initially called and spoke to the receptionist who was super friendly and knowledgeable, calmly explaining the process and all the costs involved. There were several back-and forth phone calls because Dr. Davoodian accepts cash and Care Credit (I don't have dental insurance) and the receptionist wanted to make sure I understand everything and received the best deal possible. I genuinely felt she had my best interest in mind and I really appreciated that. My appointment was made for two weeks later (they were heavily booked) but the receptionist called to let me know they had an opening (which I unfortunately couldn't make). Again, this office makes you feel very cared about! Upon arriving for my root canal operation, I pulled into the parking lot in the back of the building (which is rather small and congested so you may have to find street parking --- give yourself ample time to find a spot). The office itself is very small (tiny lobby, as well) but I was instantly welcomed by the receptionist I have been conversing with. At first, I was a little apprehensive because I didn't have the referral from my dentist (even though this wasn't the referred spot, they could have used this but I was never told to bring it) and there seemed to be some issues calling my dentist and requesting my X-ray (on the dentist's end). Despite initial nerves, the receptionist continued to be calm and informative going over EVERY detail with me and discussing better payment plans, etc. She is terrific! My process began with some X-rays with the Dental Assistant whom I think was named Michelle. She was gentle and and so nice and also kept me in the loop every step of the way. I then met with Dr. Davoodian --- who was also amazing! Dr. Davoodian is professional but also casual and has a great energy. He is more like a friend than a cold, clinical doctor. Great bedside manner. He explained the process which would begin with the Novocaine shots. Dr. Davoodian doesn't rush anything and makes sure you are numbed thoroughly giving additional shots and time as needed before moving on with the procedure. During the procedure, Dr. Davoodian is amazing with explaining instruments, asking throughout how the patient is doing, etc. The staff here is so caring, it is unbelievable! For those of you who want a distraction during a root canal. Dr. Davoodian's office has flat screen TVs with Netflix that you can enjoy! You can watch a movie or at least listen to it in the background if you opt to close your eyes (which I did). My only qualm? The operating rooms don't have doors and you can hear and see people in other rooms and hallways, etc. I think this is to make the already small space seem larger but it was a little odd and uncomfortable for me. Want to know how much Dr. Davoodian cares about your well-being? He personally called me the next day (not a receptionist) to ask how I was feeling, if I had any questions, etc. Wow! To take the time out of his operations to call a patient is WONDERFUL service! That was surprising and deserves applause, it itself! What all of my mumbo-jumbo means in layman's terms is that Dr. Davoodian's staff is amazing, their prices are lower than other endodontists in the area for root canals, Dr. Davoodian himself is gentle and yet professional, and you get to watch Netflix. All-in-all, it is a great deal and well recommended. So if you need your first root canal and live in the Valley; have no fear and go to Dr. Davoodian, stat! Do they say 'stat' in the dental field? To put that upfront for this doctor, who is commenting relentlessly: sometimes you get only one chance. This is sometimes. Oh the quest for a dentist in Los Angeles, an ever ongoing tale. I was referred to this one by colleague dentist Alexandre Tavitian from one day to the next, apparently they work somehow affiliated. Sadly I cannot recommend either at all. Here is why: after an old filling had fallen out Dr. Tavitian had decided due to the x-ray and alleged soft material I needed a root canal and very urgently so. He refused to try drilling, as he feared hitting the nerve or breaking the tooth. Makes one worry about his drilling technique, but hey, know your limits, right? He had just the guy, conveniently right near my home, Dr. Davoodian. The fact that I had no pain whatsoever did not matter to either doctor. Dr. Davoodian took once more x-ray pictures, although the same pictures with the same technique had been taken the day earlier and I had been told, the file had been sent to the office, this turned out not to be the case. General health concerns about x-rays pictures seem of no concern. Whilst this was covered by my insurance still it is extra $$ in the pocket of anyone who takes x-ray pictures, no matter if necessary or not. On neither of the x-ray pictures it was possible to see IF there was any cavity or caries and IF it was near the root, because the technology both offices use allows allows only frontal views, in other words: taking these images was useless, twice. Dr. Davoodian told me then he would perform a root canal. Upon asking for possible risks, he stated, "There are no risks at all. We will take the nerve out, fill it, and Dr. Tavitian will make a crown to seal it. The nerve in a tooth is only needed during childhood when the tooth is growing, at adult age it is like an appendix and no longer needed." The nice lady upfront conveniently called my insurance which would cover half of it. When I asked why they suggested a root canal although there is no pain and the x-ray pictures do not show a good angle to judge if there is any caries at all and if it is near the root or not Dr. Davoodian said "We say so based on our professional experience." Impressive. I went home and googled "root canal" and learned the things that are plausible also without googling, based on common sense. If this applies to you too I strongly suggest, do your homework before you go in for root canal treatment (or any other major) treatment, irrelevant if your insurance covers it or if you find the dentist friendly. In brief: it is a risky treatment; apparently is tricky to remove all infected pulp and you might get issues like new infections later, i.e. a year after the root canal, the root is very much needed no matter what age the tooth; removing it is not preserving or saving the tooth, but killing it and leaving a dead stump in your mouth; as opposed to pulling the tooth this has the advantage that your opposite jaw has something to bite against; the procedure should be avoided if possible and can therefor not be compared with an appendix-removal at all. Learning all this I finally decided I have had it with unethical or not up-to-modern-standard LA dentists and no longer want to try around, and made the effort to go outside of the city, despite the extra effort and costs involved. Never in my life I have been more glad to do a thing like that. The next dentist (who also lives far enough not to be affected by the LA YELP craze, that makes businesses do the strangest things for 5* YELP reviews) had more modern x-ray machines, that were able to take also top-notch pictures from all sorts of angles (convenient!), and was also a confident driller. He carefully removed all soft material, tested for unexpected left overs twice with dye and replaced the broken filling with no further drama. No big deal. I was told, irrelevant of what unfortunate angled x-ray pictures one was working with, one would be able to see any swelling or abscess on the tooth and on the old or new pictures were none to be seen. After all was done I was told, the caries was "nowhere near the root." (Memo to self: it is all possible!) Basically this is not a bad or good hair-cut. I am most interested in preserving any tooth structure as long as possible, and avoiding unnecessary risks or costs, such as an abundance of x-ray pictures (i.e. taking twice the same set of pictures from one day to the next seems to fall into that category). I am in need of professionals that share this opinion and work accordingly. Why suggest to people root canals in a such a situation that are totally unnecessary and tell them when asked "there are no risks" and "the nerve is not needed"? There is one of these fun-postcards out there, where people match vintage photos with texts, it says "Uncle Eddy used to say, 'Now that the cigarettes are already made, we have to smoke them." Especially, if one runs a cigarette factory. read more

He did not take a look at anything including x-rays tKen by the referring dentist and CT scans which are regularly reviewed by endodontists, and instead was very very quick to tell me to find a different doctor because he thinks that my teeth are perfect. If they are so perfect why am I spending the day at the dentists office??????????The doctor is unfamiliar with complex cases and instead of admitting that he is unfamiliar he tried to convince me that I did not know my own medical history. read more
