From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm, reassuring, and incredibly professional. They clearly knew I was one of those patients (internally panicking but trying to act cool), and they handled it with consideration, patience, and zero judgment. Dr. Balacky explained everything clearly, laid out my options with rationale, and somehow made a fairly intimidating procedure feel manageable. The actual surgery was quick and far less dramatic than I had built it up to be in my head (the drugs obvi helped). His skill and calm demeanor (w/ a little bit of humor) made a huge difference. He even called me after the surgery to see how I was doing. Had my Post-op appointment today and though I'm still in a bit of pain, he reassured me that that was completely normal, especially considering I'm not a teenager anymore lol. If you're someone who would rather do literally anything else than go to the dentist but the resurrection of a wisdom tooth has decided to ruin your life --this is your place. However, after the treatment, I was told that I needed to pay $400 for two teeth. This was very surprising because Medi-Cal usually covers root canal treatments, and the cost was not explained to me in advance. Later they said that the dentist was invited from another office and that I had to pay extra for his experience. This was only mentioned after the treatment was completed. Unfortunately, my teeth are still hurting after the visit, and I was not given a receipt for the payment. Overall, I am very disappointed with the experience and the lack of transparency about the costs. It feels misleading when patients are told that Medi-Cal will cover the treatment and then asked to pay extra afterward. I would not recommend this clinic.

Yesterday, I had an amazing experience while getting my teeth pulled. Dr. Kalasho did lovingly "scold" me, but it came from a place of genuine care and concern. I truly felt like a VIP--watching Netflix with a weighted blanket, under-eye patches, and even provided reading glasses so I could relax comfortably while enjoying my movie. This morning, I woke up with no pain, just some expected soreness in my jaw, but no discomfort in the treated area. I was even able to go to work without any issues. I had no problems with the work done, or at least I though so.. In the spring of 2025, I went for a checkup, and Dr Kalasho was on leave and her replacement told me I developed another 2 cavities... just a few months after the original cavity was fixed. I couldnt believe my ears and I agreed to fix it. However, they had just closed the Hollywood office, and the closest location would have then been in Beverly Hills and I had no interest in visiting not even once. And I didnt have time to look for a new denist in the area. Fast forward to the spring 2026, I went to 2 different reputable denists in the area and they both said I had no cavity in that tooth.. I was in awe. Questions came flashing back.. Why every time did I have to sign the waiver 10x longer and more specific than at other denist's I have gone to? Why I was charged 5k for a crown that another denist said did not have that u-shape that teeth have to block most of the food in between the teeth? Was it as bad as I was made to believe? I don't know. But my suspicious makes sense. The office and the equipmennt that looked better than I have seen in Hollywood movies. Friendly chit-chat WITH LITERALLY EVERYONE in the office. Talking about families, sharing personal stories, laughing together. And then the friendly by the way reminder.. Do you want to prepay? Second, what he states below is completely different from both what his staff said over the phone and not at all what he shared with me when we spoke. He was adamant that they needed to charge all fees up front. He reiterated numerous times that he wasn't a benefits expert but he has advisors and staff he trusts to understand it better. So when I shared that I am well versed on insurance benefits, both as a patient and a plan administer for my own company, I thought he might actually take interest in learning about how unethical it is to charge a patient twice. Instead he repeatedly spoke over me and told me that - while he himself wasn't knowledgeable on insurance, clearly I must still be wrong. Now he's writing that they only do this in some cases (no insurance or out of network), but all the sudden he's now saying that they only charge an estimate when the are in network - first time that's being said. This person continually spoke over me and let his ego drive the conversation. I hung up when it was clear that he had zero respect for me or the time I offered after he asked to speak to me. In no world is this someone I would trust with the health of my jaw or ever being under anesthesia. To purposely call someone to deride them when you have no real knowledge is its own ethical issue. Get your business in order, sir. First, it took three calls and two voicemails to even hear from anyone. Second, the billing practices are completely unethical - they bill you up front for all services AND then bill your insurance. They claim they'll reimburse you whatever insurance decides to pay. It's beyond unethical. Finally, their front office is wildly unhelpful. Not only do they not return calls, but they can't answer basic questions like how much a consultation costs. Between ethics violations, insurance fraud and incompetent administration, I'm not sure how they got so many 5 star reviews without paying for them (insanely common for dentists and plumbers on Yelp).

I was never informed that I had any balance due. The front desk later mentioned that a bill was supposedly sent in August, but I never received anything. From August all the way to November/December, not a single phone call, message, or reminder was sent to inform me of an outstanding balance. Meanwhile, the office called me several times to schedule my follow-up appointment, yet still no one mentioned that I would be required to pay over $2,000 before being seen. Mail gets lost. Calls don't. If I had been told ahead of time, I would have handled the issue before coming in. Instead, I was blindsided and embarrassed at the office, and my time, effort, and drive were completely wasted. A bill of over $2,000 is not a simple copay. There was absolutely no transparency about the possibility that insurance might not cover the full amount or that I could be responsible for such a large balance. Patients' time and effort are valuable, and medical offices must be respectful, transparent, and communicative. I truly hope they improve their practices and consider the impact of such oversights on patients.
