Let me start by saying, I would have given about a 4 star overall review. But after last nights experience it definitely goes to 2 stars, max. I was there last night for business purposes actually. I have my own business as a Dj. So I'm hired by the party that is having their event at Romys. It's a union Christmas Party for the union members. Among all the union members is a diversified ethnic mix of peoples so of course I was asked to mix some Spanish music in as well, which I was doing. I was at about half way through the time schedule I was hired to do when up to me walks the owner of the place (Dawn). In a stern voice she starts telling me that I'm supposed to be playing Mexican music. I replied that I am, as a matter of fact, the song prior to the one playing was of Mexican genre. She kept on about how I need to play more if it, and how I need to keep these people happy. I don't think she liked how my expression and/or reaction showed no enthusiasm towards her concerns, so she resorted to the "do you know who I am" question. I cut her off before she could finish and told her, I know exactly who she is. Then she threatens me by saying, I need to make these people happy if I plan to be playing there ever again or getting rebooked by this party. And then she walks off. so I finish the night of music, not changing a darn thing. I got a little hot under the collar thinking about what just occurred and even as I'm writing this, it still gets me a bit heated. I was contracted by the union, not the event hall. She was out of line coming up to me like that. Her concerns as the owner has nothing to do with the music if the music was contracted by the people having the party. She should have focused more on her responsibility of food, as it was very mediocre (instant potatoes are very subpar). But the bartenders and the wait staff were great ! Kudos to you all !! Sorry to say, this is one Dj that will not play there until she sells the place. This isn't my first run in with her. And so far every time she's had something to say...she's been wrong. Oh, and by the way I had about six people come up to me at the end of the night telling me I did a great job and they loved the mix of music that I played. Also the lady from the union came to me and said they are going to be calling to book me for next year. So Dawn, I guess you were wrong again. Maybe consider selling the place to someone a little more qualified to run it. js read more

Friday night buffet included multiple seafood options, chicken, sides, salads, and homemade desserts. Value is on point. Bartenders, bussers and attendants are attentive and professional. Process to pay for buffet is quick. The owners are friendly and the place is very clean. It's telling that the lowest ratings relate to political stances and those who feel qualified to comment on "ambiance"--save it. Romy's is a cross between an old fashioned supper club and a banquet hall. Who wouldn't want to try a joint that displays a giant replica of a cow mounted on the rooftop. The restaurant has a large bar area where you can have the WI classic old fashioned before your meal. We visited here on a Sunday during brunch which is done buffet style. I think the buffet style all you can possibly stuff yourself with may be Romy's niche. I presume they offer individual to order dinners on other days/nights but I say this with uncertainty. The buffet included broasted chicken, ham & beef tips with mashed and roasted potatoes. There was a fairly large salad bar and dessert bar. There was also cold cut ham for sandwiches, which was a surprise to me for this type of buffet. Being a Sunday morning /afternoon I was a little disappointed there was not any breakfast offerings (bacon, eggs, pancakes). I didn't particularly care for how the dining process is set up. You have to purchase a ticket from the bartender to be able to eat. You then give the ticket to a person by the buffet who makes a mark on your hand with a marker to show you've paid. Once you seat yourself at one of the many banquet tables a server brings you a pitcher of water. If you want anything else to drink at the table other than coffee or water you have to pay for that separately from your original ticket purchase. The food was plentiful and each offering was properly warm/hot. The chicken was tender and flavorful. Brunch tickets for two adults came to $25.00. I will likely return but it's not one of those at the top of my priority to stop type places. read more

We eat here maybe 6 times a year. It's good. Not not five star but it's for sure a place we come back to.

We were guests at wedding and were extremely pleased with Romy's. The owner was courteous, involved and provided excellent customer service. She checked up on guests several times throughout the evening making sure we were happy. The staff wore masks and were extremely cautious. I thought the food was excellent. We loved every single menu item the venue had to offer- especially the chicken, beef and stuffing. The wedding had a great taco bar at the end of the night and had Spotted Cow on tap. This has become a family tradition for a great Thanksgiving meal. We come every year for lunch. The buffets are always full including the desserts! The kids love the ice cream machine and we love the variety. I can't wait to come back for Friday Fish Fry. read more

I have never been to a facility that showed such disregard for the pandemic and their customers safety! I'm disgusted by this venue! I attended a wedding this evening and not a single precaution was taken. ZERO employees wore a mask and the event staff was constantly reaching over us into our personal space. Completely unacceptable. This venue should be shut down immediately and not permitted to re-open. Please do not give this facility any of your business!!! read more

We love stopping here for the buffet or a cocktail or two. We love the cozy atmosphere and how friendly everyone is. You instantly feel welcome and comfortable. Just left Romy's from Thanksgiving dinner, OR what was to be thanksgiving dinner. First off, the food smelled very good. The bar atmosphere was good. However, I draw a hard line at anything less than hard plates for a buffet for a HOLIDAY. I don't care how good the food may taste, the effect of STRYOFOAM plates will take It down to tail-gate or picnic food, AT BEST. I would rather pay a little more to have real plates vs. what they were providing. My opinion, "if you cannot afford, as a business to provide real dinner plates, do not even open your doors. Especially for a HOLIDAY buffet. We had our money refunded. Cannot get past the stryofoam. YUK. read more

Went to Romy's for a wedding 2 weeks ago. Staff was not masked. No Covid precautions whatsoever. There are now at least 4 people that attended that have Covid (including the bride and her son). Very disappointed. read more

We paid $167 for my family and the food was gross. They also gave us water and we had to buy other drinks. The soda we bought was watered down and gross. I definitely will not be coming back anytime soon read more

Quaint restaurant/bar/ballroom. Great job on fried fish. Sides were good but not great. Excellent price for what you get and a full bar.

What sign a contract where the price can go up, I don't think so If I could give this place a lower score I would. I went there at my daughters request to check out the place for her wedding. When I arrived I was not impressed, the outside looked very plain, like a warehouse or pole building with windows. No landscaping, just a field with a building and parking lot. I got inside and it was much nicer, very impressive, the bar tender immediately offered my husband and I a drink, but that is where the hospitality ended. The owner of Romys, Dawn, met us, brought us downstairs to discuss the wedding. She gave us a per plate cost, then started adding costs. They were racking up fast. including a nearly $600 gratuity charge. I mentioned some of the other places I spoke with gave us a package price (tables, linens, napkins, beer, head table, risers, bar tender, cake cutting, ect) She got very offensive, stating "NO ONE does that, I am the best around, I have several awards stating how good I am" I stopped her self congratulatory speech and told her "I just want to understand the total, end price before we sign." She went into a "I don't have to serve you people, I have lots of people who want this spot, I'm not trying to rip you off" She looked at my 22 year old daughter and said "this is your choice, not your mother and father's" My daughter looked terribly surprised, at this woman's rudeness towards her parents, she wanted this place, we were just their to make sure the contract was correct. I don't know, to be fair maybe I had a I don't trust you tone, I mean I did interrupt her "I'm the best speech", saying "I only want a total, locked price." But don't you think as a person representing a club, wouldn't you just calmly explain the total price and explain why you feel the contract should be able to increase in the end. Instead of yelling at the parents of the bride. Something is very fishy here. Anyways in the end we told our daughter, we would never come to this place, even if they gave it to us, and we walked out. Sign a contract that can go up. yea right. S W read more
