What I ordered: Midnight to Mystery Sandwich All sandwiches are $10.99 Midnight to Mystery Description You'll see stars after this experience! Dutch crunch roll, chicken, bacon, tillmook pepperjack cheese with lettuce, onion, and tomato with a chipotle dressing This Dutch crunch sandwich was delicious. Crunchy and juicy was just right. They person that took my order brought my sandwich over. It was warm and toasty. It had enough chicken and bacon. Okay one more piece of bacon won't hurt. I'll definitely order it again. I ordered a drink months ago. I don't remember what it was, but it was delicious. It's a clean and spacious spot with lots of light coming in. I love the wooden tables. There are plenty of plugs along the wall. I live in Vallejo. If I want to write somewhere in Berkeley, this is the spot. This is near UC Berkeley. I don't live here. This is my 2nd time. I say it's a hub for studying. Right now, it's plenty of space because finals are over.
My friends and I came here on a weekend afternoon. There was no line, and most of the tables were filled with people studying/working in a beige-themed cafe. I ordered a Crème Brûlée latte and my friends ordered an iced Light My Fire, which consisted of a caramel and chocolate taste. Our orders were ready almost instantly, and each of us got a Hersheys Kisses with our drink. I was able to try my friends' drinks and enjoyed them. However, I felt as if my latte was not mixed properly, and there were chunks of Crème Brûlée syrup that I would get in my drink, with the majority of the drink having a strong coffee flavor. The staff was really nice, and overall I would still love to give this place another try!
The peanut butter cookie I got was one of the best I've ever had! Not too sweet, and very peanut-y. The latte wasn't great, it just tasted like coffee. It was supposed to be a salted mocha situation, and I didn't get any of those flavors. For the price, I wouldn't be back for the drinks. The Hershey kisses are cute though!
The cafe is nice inside with loads of seating. Although certain seats by the window can get quite toasty. Just to keep in mind on sunny days. The service was quick and staff are nice. I like the little touch of giving out chocolate kisses. I got the Violent Delight. But I must've made a mistake by overlooking the Pour Over label in the section. I saw "blueberry" and "maple" but I didn't get any hints of either. To be fair, I'm not the best at differentiating coffee flavors. And if you're the same then avoid that section. Also the drink was a bit too hot. Which is a shame cause I like to drink asap. I'd like to return to try the other drinks amd definitely their food. I'm sure this review could be a higher star rating. But currently my coffee tasted like any other plain coffee that could be made at home.
great study spot!! it's so clean inside unlike other cafes around berkeley, and they have such a cute romantic concept. all the drinks have cute names, and you can customize your drinks as well. i got a latte and added rose syrup, and it was good but very very sweet. my friend got a green smoothie and she said it was just okay. the best part is every drink comes with a little hershey kiss. i think it's very on theme with the concept!!
Quick Summary: - Lots of seats, tables, couches, and even the cool bar table and stool furniture - Peaceful ambience - Coffee is not sour - Bathroom is available but requires a passcode For years, many many years, I wanted to go and have coffee here but time and I never met. Finally, the moment arrived and we were walking on this street and feeling like taking a break and drink coffee. Inside, the cafe is spacious with dozens of places to sit down. The cups were swiftly cleared off tables and wiped clean for anyone new to use next, so there were no seat congestion. That day was warm, so normally I would order a hot cup of coffee, but I was only looking at the iced menu at that point. The staff made eye contact and he helped me guide through the different special coffee menus that were listed on the board behind him. I liked the kiss mark theme across the cafe and how it translates to coffee strength. I picked the iced coffee with mint, and we took our seats near the window. After some time the staff arrived with the coffee. An extra sweet touch, was that the staff gave each one of us a Kiss chocolate. Super thoughtful, and boosted my fondness to this cafe. Updated plans to visit here more often and try their other coffees, and maybe buy home some coffee beans.
I've always appreciated the vibes of this coffee shop in the past whether that be stopping for a quick coffee, getting some studying done, or just hanging out with some friends. We came for a quick visit for Berkeley's weekend craft fair and all the stores/restaurants around the area were quite busy. Despite the long lines, our baristas were very welcoming, quick with our orders, and got us our coffees within 5 minutes. We ordered the "Oh mint where art thou" and the "love potion" both iced. Although flavors were a little too subtle for our liking, we did appreciate how it was not overly sweet and gave us the caffeine fix that we needed.
Super cute cafe! I stopped here for my morning coffee when I was in Berkeley last month. I got the Redemption drink which has cookie butter. It's a dulce de leche coffee drink that comes with a cookie on top! The drink was tasty! In addition to coffee, they also offer sandwiches on their menu. A lot of students come to work at this cafe. I wish this cafe existed when I was a student at Cal.
The customer service is always great , they make your own personal drip coffees , have good music and a nice atmosphere to study and get things done , folks who bring their own food complain since there is a sign on the that says no outside food or drink so the community can support a local business and of course not any cafe allows you to just come sit with out getting anything and everything here is very delicious or very thirst quenching so why the need to bring anything from the outside .
This is a great place to sit down and have a cup of coffee. Love the atmosphere here. Service: The staff were quick and efficient. Did not have to wait long to receive the drink. Drink: I tried the Immortal Kiss and I absolutely loved it. It had the perfect amount of sweetness and coffee taste! I thought it was cute that they gave a piece of Kisses chocolate with the drink. 10/10 recommend for coffee lovers!
very mid food. I didn't try their coffees but the food was just okay. All three only costed $21 which was less than what I was expecting originally. But avocado toast was literally just an avocado on top of a grainy bread with oil drizzled. The breakfast sandwich was very oily and bland. The cheese danish was okay though! They have lots of seating to work or chat though. I would probably come here just to order coffee and get some work done or try something else.

I wish I drank coffee after I read their creative coffee menu! The descriptions sounded good and the names were fun! This place is spacious, clean, diverse seating options, lots of natural light, digital menu screens, and not bad food options either. The owner was in on the day I visited and he was friendly and walkin around the place making sure people were happy with the items they purchased etc. So far so good, I wouldn't mind coming back to it in the future for a little study space and meeting with a few friends for a chat. read more

Management here SUCKS, waiting time for drinks SUCKS, ordering system/picking up system SUCKS Wow, I haven't encountered a bad coffee shop in a while --I waited probably 25min (at least) just to get my drink --the barista uttered my drink name in a low voice (or she might've just placed it on the counter w/out saying the name) to the point where I had to walk up to the counter and repeat the name to her to see if it was mine. Not sure if she was shy or if English wasn't her first language but I couldn't get a definite verbal confirmation from her if this was my mint drink... --2 girls ordered 5-10 minutes after me and their drinks came out before mine. Unsure if their drinks are simpler than mine or were made by a different barista, but my mint drink is one of their menu's most popular so you would think they would have an efficient system to make it quickly Drinks? Okay, not blown away --Mint drink: watered down compared to the mint mojito at Philz, same price, still drinkable PICKING UP DRINKS: Messy counter, drinks/food are piled onto the counter without a specific name, names aren't always called out, my impression is that once you've paid they don't really care if you get your food/drink or not (or on time)- it's your job to fetch your purchased goods & be vigilant --customers after me had to ask baristas more than once where their drinks were b/c they were taking such a long time (they ordered 2 black coffees mind you) AMBIENCE: Okay, spacious, airy, good study spot- broke SIP rules Based on other previous reviews (during SIP), the owner here isn't the nicest guy. I was almost a little scared to come but nothing happened personally during my visit so we'll stop at that. Peet's (next door) is always an option. read more

Romeo's is a new-ish cafe done right. The interior is spacious, attractive, modern, comfortable, and is kept in top condition. The people who work there are friendly and helpful with sunny dispositions. Coffee, whether just-made drip or Italian specialities, is quite good, as are the pastries. And the sandwiches and salads. Romeo's has pretty much whatever you may need. They call your name when your order is ready, so there is no need to stand around. Rock music is the norm, but it has been turnd down upon request. This cafe is a good study den, a social living room, or a reading/Internet retreat. Parking is easy on Dwight Way before or after Telegraph and on Telegraph itself on the block South of Dwight Way. See you there! read more
I've worked out of here a few times throughout the years to get out of my mundane apartment and oddly enough the thing that sticks out to me the most is their avocado toast. I'm not one to seek out avocado toast, but I was hungry and needed a little somethin' and their toast fit the bill. It was surprisingly delicious and I remember going home and trying to replicate what I'd had there! Their range of sugary and caffeinated dessert drinks makes for a unique and interesting menu. I'd say everything I've had there is pretty solid and refreshing. Though I can't speak to their coffees. Wifi is strong and service is decent. I think COVID precautions could be a little better. On my recent visit during the pandemic when dining inside isn't allowed, we saw a staff member eating inside near customers without a mask on. read more

I got the "O mint where art thou" drink, which is like the Philz mint mojito - so if you're visiting the Berkeley campus and don't want to walk or bus down College to the closest Philz, this is a good substitute! They give you a Hershey's kiss with drink purchases, which is a nice touch. Otherwise, it's a great place to work (lots of outlets) with a variety of seating. It gets busy but if you come in the morning, you'll definitely find a place to camp out. Not 100% kid friendly because of the names of some of their menu items, but would still recommend it over many of the other south side Berkeley cafés if you need a place to work because of the plugs, lighting, and size of space. read more
Great coffee and good vibes! Although I'm not much of a coffee drinker, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I got the light my fire hot potion and overall it was decently sweet! I loved the balance of sweetness and saltiness, and the kiss candy they give you was a nice touch! Even if you're not into coffee, I do recommend getting this as it's not too caffeinated. I also loved the cozy atmosphere! It's definitely a great place to chill with friends, or do some work! The lighting is great, the place is spacious, and overall great place to check out! Highly recommend if you're into cafes or wanna try something new! read more

This is a really good spot to study. Plenty of seating, as well as charging outlets so you don't run out of power. The coffee is pretty good, though a bit overpriced in my opinion. I got the Oh Mint Where Art Thou, which I thought was a bit too minty but otherwise good. I've also heard a lot of good things about their food, so I'll have to check those out sometime. read more
Coffee is fine - I like their wicked ways and Love overload coffee but every time I've came in, the staff hasn't been the most friendly. I've witnessed the owner pressuring someone to buy something while studying there. Also during Covid lock down when indoor dining isn't allowed students have been seen inside without masks and not practicing social distancing. My two cents - would recommend going elsewhere for coffee to ensure your safety and have a positive experience. read more
Tried Romeos coffee this weekend. I've driven by it many times and finally came in after seeing some reviews online. Pros: -multiple outlets available -smoothies and coffee drinks available -fun drink names -near uc berkeley Cons: -I wasn't given a little Hershey kiss that I read about on other reviews. We even ordered a hot and cold fancy beverage, but nothing :( -drinks were okay but we couldn't taste the various things in our beverage that it listed in the menu -you have to ask for the WiFi password. It isn't clearly posted read more

I LOVE this cafe. They have massive tables for a great study spot and the most delicious coffee. Their mint coffee reminds me of Philz mint mojito but this one is better! I've tried the bagel with lox and breakfast sandwich and I personally prefer the sandwich. The eggs are so soft and melt in your mouth and the avocado and olive oil taste lovely. The owner is also extremely friendly! Definitely add this coffee shop to your next stop. read more

The first time i've ever stepped into this establishment, the architecture is amazing, the ambience is comforting, great place to study or to hang out. Cashier was super sweet, drinks are so well priced and the options available are great! Also the Mocha Decadence comes with a kiss! As for the coffee. 10/10 ! We love Romeo's! read more
The stark urban ambience belies a place of tranquility. Soothing tunes. Great coffee and snacks. The basics done right. Friendly and helpful staff. Totally clean. Tons of folks hanging with the laptop or a companion. I'm not much on Berkeley but Romeos does things right. Recommended. read more

This is a coffee place that's very close to the UC Berkeley campus, and it's a good place to study if you're able to find seating there! The coffee shop is pretty small, and it's usually decently crowded there so it can be hard to find seating for multiple people. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the modern layout and aesthetic that they had inside as it was bright and welcoming with nice visuals on the walls! The baristas there were nice and helpful, and since it was my first time there they gave good suggestions for what I might like. For the drinks, just be warned that they are very, very sweet. It definitely was one of the sweetest coffees that I've ever had, with tons of whipped cream, chocolate, etc. in each coffee. The names of the drinks are pretty funny, and give the place a unique touch to it. For my drink, they were even able to add a cookie on top of it, which I haven't really seen done at any other coffee shop. The drink was super sugary and I was a bit jittery afterwards, but it was very tasty and refreshing! Overall, I recommend coming to this coffee shop if you want a nice ambience for studying and have a sweet tooth for drinks! read more

I was recommended to go to this place by a local. And it's definitely a good place. The big and creative menu. Chocolate served along with a coffee. These what I liked read more
I thoroughly enjoyed this place and below are my reasons why! Coffee: A- I definitely enjoyed one of their specialty hand crafted coffees. It was a bit sweet, but it hit the spot and I will go back to try the others! Environment/Vibe: A I just really liked their layout and vibe. It was super chill and everything about it, especially during COVID times was kind of what I needed to make it feel like a hangout/home. Also one of the few places that allows indoor seating. Staff/Service: A No issues at all. Staff gave their favorite drinks and recommendations and were just overall happy to be there. Parking: B- As with a lot of places in Berkeley and Albany, there aren't too many spots to park, but on side streets. Overall: A- I will definitely come back for sure, if not just to hangout. I really just enjoyed my experience there. read more

This place never disappoints me! Ive been here several times already for their delicious coffee concoctions. I completely love the decor. Its very modern, sleek, and clean... makimg me feel good every time I walk in. We are always greeted right away by the friendly staff. The barista is so helpful! She helps me narrow down my choices every time and she nails the drinks! I love the strong coffee taste without being too bitter or too sweet (if you get what I mean). When I want something hot, I get the wicked ways. Then I get the Love Potion #9 when I want an iced drink. I believe you can get it blended as well, which is another great option! Its cute how they give you kisses with your order. It makes your visit that much more memorable because no other place does that. This is one of my favorite coffee shops! read more

I needed a cup of coffee for my drive back to SoCal but didn't want to go to the normal chains like Starbucks or Peets. I love going to more local or smaller chain coffee shops. To minimize choice I just asked for a cup of their house coffee iced ( ~$4.50 ). It came in a relatively large hot to go cup ( even though it was iced ). They asked if I wanted it black, with creamer, and sugar. I said sure as I was going to ask for that anyways. Each cup of coffee came with a chocolate kiss which I thought was SUPER CUTE. It was also a nice sweet treat. As for the coffee the price with the amount of coffee is really worth it. However I felt that they put too much creamer and sugar for my coffee. I felt like I was drinking milk with a hint of coffee. Either that or I'm used to drinking really strong coffee. I guess I should have asked to put less sugar and creamer to fit my liking. I normally like my coffee darker with less creamer and sugar to really get the flavor of the coffee. My mom who's not much of a dark coffee drinker thought it tasted fine. So maybe it is me. Since it is located near campus a lot of students are seen studying here. Assuming there is plenty of table space, outlets, and wifi. If i was a local, I would be here often too! read more
I have to admit that this block of Telegraph Avenue makes me a bit wistful now as my old college after-class hangout, Caffe Mediterraneum, closed this past year, and next door, this newish coffee spot took over the space that was the Shakespeare & Co. bookstore on the corner. I used to live on College Avenue near Dwight Way during those puppy years, so I rounded the corner onto Telegraph every day on my way to campus. Now all I recognize is Moe's Books across the street (review: http://bit.ly/2FSy0fr). So it was with some trepidation that Jamie W. and I entered this ever-so-contemporary coffee spot. Its literary name was clearly meant to evoke its former identity. But Romeo o Romeo...wherefore art thou, Romeo? The menu listed all the standard caffeine selections but also a slate of Romeo's Hot Potions perhaps catering to the incoming undergrads still getting used to their coffee legs. Jamie bit and ordered the abruptly dubbed Scandalous!!!!! ($5 for a 16-oz cup) which mixes espresso with dulce de leche and cookie butter and drizzles it all with chocolate (photo: http://bit.ly/2pySAqb). Struck me as something you'd order in an ice cream parlor, and my one sip made my lips pucker from the sweetness. I was a bit more conservative and had the $4.50 Cupid's Potion, a 16-oz pour over of coffee laced with vanilla bean, blueberry and raw sugar (photo: http://bit.ly/2GQiDS0). Even though it came with a chocolate kiss, it was gratefully not as sweet as Jamie's, but it became clear to me that sweetening up their caffeine was this shop's selling proposition to the bubble tea crowd. The lap toppers didn't seem to mind though I noticed they moved onto their water bottles which didn't appear to bother the staff (photo: http://bit.ly/2DKremb). We hung out for a bit, but parting was not such sweet sorrow here, maybe I'll wait til it be morrow. Or not. COFFEE - 3 stars...sweetened caffeine appears to be the specialty here AMBIANCE - 3 stars...modern and spacious but somehow just not Berkeley SERVICE - 3.5 stars...the staff definitely tries here TOTAL - 3 stars... kinda makes me miss the indifferent service at Caffe Mediterraneum read more

Romeo's has unique, love-themed drinks that would make Shakespeare proud. The place was pretty much empty this morning. I loved the industrial and spacious atmosphere, as well as the comfortable chairs and tables, perfect for getting some work done. The one barista was incredibly friendly. I had the "Redemption", a caramel blended drink topped with a mountain of whipped cream. It was deliciously sweet! For 16 oz, $5 is very reasonable (similar to Starbucks price). Comes with a Hershey's kiss too. Would gladly stop by again to try another coffee creation! read more
Love the large selection coffee and atmosphere of the shop~ Great place to study or a coffee date. I was surprised to see this place pretty crowded on a Saturday, mostly students studying. The menu is unique, with large selection of coffee blends, sweet hot coffee, and teas. I got the black sweet madness blend ($3.50 small). Staff is very friendly, they give a chocolate kiss for every coffee order. The coffee was smooth, with a sweet after taste. As a chocoholic, I loved the cocoa undertone of the coffee. No need for cream or sugar. The design of the cup is very cute, with the logo and a kiss mark. Coffee is very good for the price~ Would love to come try out the other blends next time. read more

I'm a student at UC Berkeley and this is my go to spot to study and do work! Their food is amazing as well but today, I tried their lattes for the first time! I'm not into sweet latte drinks but was in the mood so the cashier recommended me the Immortal Kiss! I asked if they could make it less sweet and they did a phenomenal job! It's not too sweet and the cinnamon powder on top gave it a sweet, nostalgic fall vibe read more
