Amazing jewelers! I've been here a few times since moving here to Placerville this past year and I am impressed with what excellent work they have done for me. I would also like to add that the prices are very, very fair (I was actually surprised at how affordable they have been). I used to live in Pacifica, near San Francisco, and the jewelers that I went to over there were honestly not that great and charged twice as much as Romans Jewelry Store. Update: Jacob explained the mistake and gave us a new price and we ended up getting the work done here. I sincerely appreciate the customer service and I might be too quick to think bad customer service these days :(. So thank you Jacob for your help and excellent service. This is a honest review. My partner brought in a ring to be sized. They could not give a quote for a ring to be sized immediately and took five days to give the quote. Their quote was $675 to size a ring down a size. Since that is ridiculous we will have to get it ack and go elsewhere but they are closed today and we lost all that time to find a new jeweler. So beware of that. I picked up my ring today, and I am thrilled the way it turned out. I originally brought it in for cleaning, and was told that the diamond was loose. I could also tell that it was needing repair. Roman took the initiative to send me a photo of what he needed to do so that I would not lose the heirloom diamond in the ring. I highly recommend Romans Jewelry and will continue to patronize them. They botched my necklace. Some links had separated, brought it in to reattach. Told me necklace was too old (which it is +- 40 years) and that it would happen again unless they reinforce all the links for $495.00 + tax. A new one same weight, length and carats would cost over $2,000. Since it was a gift from my late husband, I agreed. Gave them the necklace and the detached piece. Needless to say they lost the extra somewhere between Placerville and Folsom, told me they didn't get it and out courtesy they would elongated it for free, since without that piece it had become too short to wear. Unfortunately I couldn't prove that I had given them both, the actual necklace and the broken piece. Here is how they "fixed" it. If you think about going there, run the other way! They basically called me a liar by saying that I never gave them the extra links. Why on Earth would I not give them the extra links when I went there for the reattachment in the first place. Update: Yes! Looked at my receipt and corrected the amount for the necklace. I had more jewelry repaired, and I remembered the full amount. But, yes, the necklace alone was $495 - 10% and I already mentioned that those ugly links you built to make it longer were free. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS PLACE!!! If I could give this place a zero I would. I paid $80 to this company, about 8 mos ago, to put in a new battery and to shorten the 2-tone band on my watch. When I originally got it back, the battery worked, but, one side of the band was longer than the other. I dealt with it for a while, but, wanted them to even out the band. So, I took it back. When I picked up my watch the next time, the band was no longer 2-tone and the battery no longer works. THIS COMPANY IS SHADY. DO NOT TRUST THEM. THEY LACK INTEGRITY. read more

I had a small repair request on a ring, so I left the ring. Two weeks I go back into the shop as I've heard nothing. The lady behind the counter (who speaks poor English) brings my ring out with an estimate of $150. She hands the ring back to me, I ask is it fixed? "No, you didn't respond to our email". I looked through my emails including the spam folder, no email. They had my phone number as well. No calls. I took the ring across the street, the jeweler there told me he will repair it for$45 and be ready in a couple days. He went over the repair showing me that it needed the posts built up. I sent a 1995 Tag Heuer watch to Tag Heuer for repair and they returned it to me unrepaired noting they no longer had parts. I took it to Romans Jewelry in Placerville, had a repair quote in 3 days and the watch returned to me working perfectly in a couple of weeks & at a lower cost than Tag would have charged and with a 1 year warranty. This is the cutest shop on Main Street. Every time I'm in the area I pop in and they clean the rings I purchased for free. Service is outstanding and Victoria is a true gem. Poor workmanship and craftsmanship on jewellry rings. Zero communication and staff Follow up. And prices change. I have An heirloom ring needing repair. I had quotes 3 months apart for the work and it was $750 and then $595. I asked why it was less , and showed the last invoice slip quoted. their shoppekeep then went in back of shoppe and then came back a few minutes later and said they would could now do it for $650 And that written offer handed to me of $595 was a mistake. Excellent service. I had two rings to repair. The estimate seemed high at first.. then I realized that gold was more than 1720.00 an ounce. I was extremely happy with the repair they did to rebuild my center stone carriage as well as fixing the bezel of my antique pinky ring that was my ring my husband bought to renew our vows. I since have brought them my very delicate hand crafted silver and pearl bracelet that had the safety chain break. It's so delicate I wouldn't take it any where else. We made the mistake of going to Romans Jewelry because they are in the same location of our old jewelers. We needed a small lobster clasp replaced on a gold chain. We went to Romans on November 30. Because they did not have a repair person onsite the repair had to be sent to their Folsom store. We were quoted $130 to replace the clasp. Although that seems very high for the replacement we agreed because we just wanted it repaired as soon as possible for our son. Because of the holidays and our snow storm the repair at Romans was not on our minds. By the beginning of January we wondered why had not receive a call from Romans about our repair. So on January 10 my wife had to call Romans to see what had happened to our repair. In response a person from Romans called back to inform us that the repair had been completed on December 22 and that someone from Romans was suppose to call us about the completion of the repair. Our phone records show that no one from Romans called us. We finally were able to pick up our repaired chain on January 11. Picking up our chain was another hassle but that's a whole other story. Most of our local jewelers have a repair person on site so it shouldn't take 24 days for such a minor repair. The cost to replace the small lobster clasp was exorbitant. It's obvious that their customer service requires improvement given our whole experience with Romans Jewelry read more

I took a necklace I purchased on Etsy to this shop to remake into a bracelet. The original necklace was very poorly made and the clasp especially was subpar. Instead of replacing the clasp with a proper one they used the substandard clasp. When I received it and tried to put it on the clasp immediately broke. The most disappointing aspect of this transaction is that the store manager tried to make this my fault she stated the work order did not mention using new materials! All they had to do was try the clasp to realize it would break as it obviously wasn't even real silver. Any other reputable shop would have called me to discuss this if they were not sure of what I was expecting in a remake. I will not take the bracelet back to this store for a new clasp but rather the other jewelry store in Placerville. For a store trying to enter a new market this is not acceptable business practice. read more
