I found Roman's Jewelry during my search for the perfect engagement ring for my fiancé. I went a few different places looking for something unique, nature-y (to match her love for plants and hiking), and without a diamond (at her request). I found Romans by searching google for "local jewelry shop in Folsom". I had a custom ring in mind and other shops weren't able to find it do what I was looking for, but Roman's was on the job immediately. I'll start by saying everyone I worked with was extremely helpful and not at all pressuring-- the whole experience was focused on what I was looking for. I primarily worked with Inessa, who listened to what I was looking for, helped me with some ideas, and gave me an estimate. I felt the price was very reasonable for what I wanted, especially for a custom job. They made a CAD mock-up, and I came by a few times to approve various things along the way. The engagement ring turned out beautiful-- so detailed and intricate. My fiancé loved it (attached a picture). With how great Roman's was, it was really important to us that we get both our wedding bands there as well. We found them both a few months later at their Placerville location (which was perfect because we both love Placerville). My ring is really cool-- sort of a metal/marble look. Last, I want to mention that they'd also worked on my dad's Seiko watch which had stopped working some time ago. Estimates I got from other places were crazy expensive because they would have had to ship the watch to Seiko, but Roman's was fully able to work on the watch for a great price. Romans did not seem to be too well organized. I received an email with an estimate to repair my watch. I approved the estimate. Then, the next day, I received another email with the same estimate to repair my watch, which I also approved. Then two or three weeks later I received a phone call asking me if I wanted my watch repaired. About three or four weeks later I received a call or an email saying my watch was repaired. My daughter went to pick up my watch for me. She was dressed casually but not sloppy or dirty. The jeweler behind the counter bypassed her to take care of another customer. When he started to do that a second time my daughter spoke up that she had been waiting before the other two customers. Then she was treated abruptly and a bit rudely. The watch is working properly, but they didn't bother to set the date in the watch. read more

The most awkward stuffy environment with no customer service. Walked in to ask about a piece of jewelry and look at the estate pieces (I purchase A LOT of estate jewelry.) Four employees were standing behind the counter, not a single one said hello, or greeted me. I walked around for a little bit and then decided to look at them and was finally asked if I wanted to look at something. I asked if the jewelry I brought in was real, was told both pieces were costume. Then I went to another jewelry store who acid tested my gold piece and it turned out to be gold. It just is hollow, light and in need of cleaning. So no only was I treated like an inconvenience in their store, they were wrong about the authenticity of a piece of jewelry I brought in. If you're looking for excellent customer service skip this place because it's not here. read more
