I feel like everyone at the receptionist desk, the assistants who run the various exams prior to seeing Dr. Philips, and the folks running the glasses fitting room all truly care about their patients and also enjoy working here. Every follow-up phone call is pleasant, every conversation shows that they care. I am a customer for life with this team.

When I walk in the door I am greeted and checked I right away. There is little waiting for my scheduled appointment time. There are cool frames to look at if in need of a new or updated pair of glasses. The complete exam takes only about 30 minutes from start to finish and I choose to pay extra for the ocular machine versus drops. Once finished I can order my contacts or glasses right then. This practice operates like a well-oiled machine.

The service at Hunter Family Vision is something I do not see in the marketplace today. I work and am very familiar with group insurance. I work for a consulting house that is HQ in KC and while my practice is focused on absence, I know a fair amount about other group offered products. I received a text today from Brandi at Hunter Family Vision notifying me that my company's eye insurance provider, VSP, was changing their policy provisions and I may not be eligible after 6/1 for "medically necessary" contacts. In the early 90s, I grew up as a kid who had to patch their right eye to make the left eye stronger and for a long time, glasses were my only option. I eventually moved to contacts and saw a competitor. No one ever told me that insurance may cover the cost of my contacts because of the difference in the prescription between my right and left eye. At my first visit, Dr. Swan told me they should be covered 100%. The thousands of dollars she has saved me over the last 5 years goes above and beyond what I would anticipate from any other healthcare provider. This is true patient advocacy. I was overwhelmingly impressed with Brandi and the entire office staff at Hunter Family Vision. I received a proactive text today about the policy changes and recommended that I come in and see Dr. Swan for my annual exam before my policy changed. That text alone also saved me hundreds of dollars. Otherwise, I would have waited until the end of the year to only find out that VSP may not cover my contacts. I live in Lawrence, KS now. But I will happily make the trip to continue to be a patient of Dr. Swan and Hunter Family Vision. Thank you so much for being an advocate for patient healthcare.

The staff is always nice and it is clean. I am usually able to get scheduled in a reasonable amount of time. The only reason I gave a four is that the machine has went on the blitz several times in the middle of the testing. They have gotten it worked out during those times but I despise the testing because it takes longer than a typical test so I've had to prolong the testing.

The salesperson told me the tint would work for my outside job, however, when I wore my new glasses outside all day, the tint did not get dark like sunglasses. I came back to discuss my disappointment and options for making them darker as initially described. The sales lady tried to sell me new glasses for $300 more dollars on top of the $400 already paid. I initially was looking to replace my glasses with the same frames as before but talked to Nick about possible changing the sheen to a matte finish. He took my old glasses and machines them to a matte finish to show me what they looked like to help me see what that finish would look like. He definitely went above and beyond! Some years ago I had done business with Fairway and remembered the excellent customer service. In fact the only reason I really switched was they didn't have the frames I wanted. I digress. So after getting a completely outrageous quote I called Fairway and asked for Tina. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out she was still there. I explained my dilemma and all I can say is that Fairway came to the rescue once again. The prices were completely reasonable and Fairway stands 100% behind their product and customer service. They test depth perception, color perception, eye pressure with the air shooty thing, measure your pupillary distance, dilation and do refraction. Turns out that my current prescription was too strong. That's what you get when you rush eye care. So, Dr Joe gave me a new prescription. I won't be going back to my other doc... this went way too smooth and was actually accurate. Only thing I would have preferred was to be given some sunglass inserts after dilation. I wasn't offered any, but would have gladly taken them. So, bring your sunglasses in or remember to ask if they have any... so you don't get hit by a car or something. Well worth it for not having to have blurry, weird vision for the rest of the day. I see Dr. Yates, and my oldest comes here now too and looks forward to it. The office is very nice, and there is parking but it can be tight in the little adjacent lot. Nothing but good vibes here, good location, and I never dread my annual trip in. They'll really listen if you have any questions or concerns about anything, and overall this is a slam dunk. We'll go here for life.

They also offer vision therapy in their office, in case you're looking for it! The office was very welcoming and organized. It was probably the best experience I have had at an eye doctors office!
