I went in wanting a gel manicure, but ended up with a dip powder nails instead, which I liked because it lasted a lot longer than the gel. Here's how my visit panned out: Went in for my manicure, there were two nail techs available to assist. I didn't see any other techs during my time there. I mentioned that I wanted a gel manicure and they said sure, and then I went to use the restroom. While I was in the restroom, one of their regular customers came and as I was walking out of the restroom, my nail tech put away the soaking bowl from her station. Not thinking anything of it, I was directed towards the gel color selection, but was asked after if I wanted to try the dip powder. For $5 more, I said sure why not. So I sit down to start the manicure and select my colors for the manicure. After I selected the colors, she immediately began shaping/filing my nails and pushing my cuticles back with her own fingernails. I thought it was a little strange, but didn't say anything because I had not ever had the dip manicure before, so I wasn't sure if soaking my hands would affect the powders (mind you, she put away the soaking bowl before I agreed to the dip manicure. I now realize she probably was in a hurry to get to her regular customer and wouldn't have soaked my nails properly even if I had chosen gel). Anyways, after the color application was done, she put the renewing oil on my nails (I don't remember if I got a massage or not. If it happened, it was very quick.) I paid the posted price with tip and left. I later found out from a friend who gets dip powder manicures regularly that they indeed soak the nails so that they are better able to take care of the cuticles and extra skin before beginning the manicure. (Since this visit, I have had a dip powder manicure elsewhere, and received everything you'd typically expect of a manicure.) I don't live in that area, but if I did, I would not return as I the nail tech cut corners on my service. I can only assume that is because she didn't want to keep her regular customer waiting too long. (Her regular customer received a pedicure from the other nail tech while I was getting my "color job" done.) read more

I've been a customer for almost 20 years. Mai is the best. I get so many compliments on my nails. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Love this place. Tucked away in a strip mall, no frills salon but they are very friendly and always do a great job. My regular mani lasts at least a week. read more

The good: The pedicure felt good The owner did nice artwork The bad: While painting my nails, the owner (who was also doing my nails) handed the phone to me to write down an address as she couldn't understand the customer on the phone I got charged ten dollars extra, which doesn't match the pricing on the board The owner really went to town on my real nails with her drill, and they now hurt like the dickens Suffice to say, I will not be going back. read more

I found this place by accident once I got home from college because I needed to find somewhere quickly to fix the mess that a place I tried out made but let me tell you I'm so glad I walked in here! Great price and great pedicures here. The shop is clean and we had a great experience. We'll be back.

First off, the customer service is awesome. The owner is very nice and really wants to make her customers happy. I told her what I wanted and she relayed the info to her technician and my shellac nails turned out great. They still look great and it's been two weeks. Will be back again very soon! read more

Have gone here the past few weeks for a regular gel manicure and pedicure. Get what you pay for. Friendly service, clean and I love her OPI gel #50 (many compliments too) as my summer color. Not amazing or the best place I've ever been, but definitely my go-to when I'm in the area. read more

I came in midday needing a full set of acrylic nails. The lady at the front (I think she's the owner) did a magnificent job. I felt bad because I was in such a rush, but she followed through. It only took 30 minutes and the nails have lasted me 3 weeks . I'll definitely drive 30 minutes to go back again! read more

Received an amazing pedicure yesterday no complains she took her time with the foot massage !

Great service. Non pretentious, but great nails. My solars do not lift at all. Nice "jelly" pedi

I had an appointment and asked for French nails. I rarely have my nails done but needed it for a gala. The manicurist pushed my cuticles back with her own nails not using an instrument. She also asked me to pay up front, so I wouldn't damage my nails after the manicure. I agreed to pay up front and included a 50% tip. My French nails turned out nonuniform, some of the white lines were wider than others. One of the lines was particularly bad, so she only removed a bit of it and painted over it which resulted in a thicker line on the topcoat. My complete nails peeled off within two days as shown in the picture. I could go on but no need... read more

The ladies are very nice, and their foot and hand massages were wonderful. However, I will not be back here anytime soon. I got a simple manicure and pedicure - no nail polish, just a quick clean up. A few days later I noticed my cuticles and nail beds were scratched up and peeling. I put hand cream on them every night to get rid of the hangnails, but that didn't work. And I'm still battling my gross-looking nails. Basically I spent too much money for my nails to go haywire on me only a day after getting them cleaned up. read more

The young lady who did my nails was very nice and my nails look good - that's why it's getting two stars. However, I went in and asked for an acrylic fill with gel overlay aka acrylic fills with acrylic powder/liquid compound and a few coats of gel polish - NOT the gel nails. I did get exactly what I requested and was then charged for a full set of gel nails. As in, charged for a full set, not a fill, and for gel nails which are made of *gel*, not acrylic. I didn't realize until I got home and looked up the pricing again, convinced I was wrong, and saw that instead of $18 for an acrylic fill (I would have paid a little more due to the gel overlay, mind), I was charged $40 for the gel full set. I tried calling and couldn't reach anyone. I'll keep trying but I'm not hopeful. Thankfully my nails look professionally done even though I asked for oval and received round; it was too late to do anything about it by the time everything was set. While it was a nice experience, the overcharging and inability to contact someone to correct it have led to the poor review. I won't be returning, sad to say. read more

Today I decided to get an acrylic set put on because I have a horrible nail biting habit. I went on the website before heading in to verify prices- a set is $27, cool sounds good.....as I'm reading the other services I notice the pedicure says $25, I paid $30, I thought hm that's odd...I didn't get anything extra done or anything fancy added, I decided to voice this to the manager (owner?) before she started working. We went back and forth for a few minutes discussing the price vs. what I had done; she was sure I had something extra like callous remover, I assured her I did not (why would I lie when I gave them a good review and didn't even mind spending more than I normally do?)...the convo dissipates and she continues to put on my set; after I wash she asks me to pay $27, I asked if she'd honor a $5 discount due to the mishap before and she did-- it's the principle behind it-- she has kept a loyal customer by simply doing the right thing. I tipped my usual $10, she did a nice job- my nails were in horrible shape when I went in so she didn't have much to work with but she did the best she could- the underneaths are just a little messy- the white bits from the set are still under in a few, and my polish is a little off on a couple nails but I will say I will come back for both refill and pedi's. read more

After trying several nail salons in the area and being disappointed with all of them i finally found a nail salon i love! Since discovering romancing the nails 6 months ago, i have been repetitively getting my acrylic nails done every 2 to 3 weeks. Mrs. Vo is very talented in nail art and design and is the sweetest lady i have ever met. she takes her time and make sure you are completely satisfied with her work. i never feel like I'm being rushed, unlike the other salons in the area that to your nails so quick that you never even get a chance to relax. This is a great nail salon where you will never feel rushed. Mrs. Vo really takes her time and makes sure you are happy with her work, which is always impeccable. I have tried several other nail salons in the area, and this one is by far the best. I get gel manicures about every three weeks, and I have had them last as long as 4 weeks. They easily accommodate walk ins, but if you choose to make an appointment, they run right on time. Most importantly, the service lasts. I NEVER redo my nails in between visits. An acrylic fill lasts easily 2 weeks sometimes 3. I've referred many friends. They are always pleased with this visit. I highly recommend this salon!! read more

My nails last more than 2 weeks and still look fantastic. I will continue to visit Romancing the Nails. Strongly recommend! read more
