Delicious food. Big portions excellent service nice environment very pleasant and pretty

Were going to go for a roast beef at 110 in Bradford but they said they had just closed. So off we go. We turned left and went towards Haverhill. Thought of the Roma Restaurant that we heard was under new management and really good. My husband went in and asked if they were still open for dinner. They said yes that they closed at 9:00 and it was 8:45. I thought that was phenomenal because I can't tell you the number of restaurants say they're closing at a certain time and then when you go, they break the news that the kitchen closes a half an hour or an hour earlier. We went in and decided to eat at a high top in the bar because there was no one in the dining room because it was so late. I will say the dining room is very elegant. And...has cozy booths, which we love! Our server was Dodi who was very pleasant and accommodating. Ordered drinks. And just ordered our entrees right away knowing it was so late. My husband ordered Veal Parmesan and Ziti which was $30.00 and I ordered Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo which was $26.00. Very reasonable for the amount and quality you get. I always say, if you have to anything with an entree because you are not making the margins, go up on price...don't go down on quantity and quality. This place has done that. They brought out some crusty rolls that I believe were meant to be served warm, but weren't very warm, but considering the time, were good none the less. Our entrees came. I've got to tell you; my husband and I are the pickiest people you know. We will drive an hour to a restaurant. I don't like any restaurants in my close vicinity. My husband said this Veal Parmesan was the tenderest veal, a huge portion, and super delicious. As he was eating, he said we are definitely coming back here! The chicken in my Chicken Broccoli Alfredo was super tender! Usually, you get stringy chicken in these dishes which is cheap chicken. It came with fettuccine pasta which the next time I would change to ziti, for no reason except ziti is easier to eat. The alfredo sauce was freshly made from cream, not some globby pre prepared stuff. Very, very good. Nothing like years ago. If you haven't been to the Roma in a million years as we had, don't judge your past experience. Try them out! Very pleasant surprise and somewhere for us to go that isn't an hour away! I will tell you the only mistake the new owners made is in keeping the same name as the old Roma. The reviews on Yelp are mostly based on the old Roma which was a dump. If they insist on keeping the name, they should add something to it and get a new account on Yelp that reflects the new patrons reviews. read more

Recently stopped by the Roma recently for lunch. Ordered their pork cutlet with spaghetti. I first ordered this dish 40 years ago. Then, it was an inexpensively priced dish. I returned to the area after a 40 years hiatus and have ordered it several times since. It is still the perfectly cooked, delicious cutlet it always was, however its price has risen dramatically over the past 3 years, to the point where it will no longer be an option for me. Where will the continuing national price increases end? Frustrating! Service is always great, although I always sit in the bar. Larry is always my server. He has become rather hard of hearing. I have taken a look at their main dining area? It is different than it was 40 years ago. It is quite beautiful, Unfortunately I have not tried the rest of their menu. read more

The free bread is delicious. I love dipping it in oil and cheese. I enjoyed my pasta, the flavor was very elegant and powerful. but I wish they had different varieties of pasta. More options would be better. The potatoes were good. I felt like they were missing a little something. The steak tips were yummy cooked to perfection. Our waitress was very kind. My family and I have been going here for a lifetime. At least 25 years for every birthday my favorite used to be the tour of Italy. The service is incredible.. The menu was a lot smaller under new ownership, but the food is still incredible in the ambience is very nice. They also did a wonderful job for my mom's mercy meal. read more

Customer of 35 years, my children have also grown up going to The Roma. Youngest turned 21 and chose The Roma for our family b-day dinner. Party of 10, slow service to start in a private room. Waitress refused my sons license manager came and it was explained that his minors license had expired on his 21st birthday and he was just issued his new license which was in hand along with the one that had just expired. Manager had to check with the bartender and returned saying they would not accept it. Mind you this is a party of 10 grown adults not a group of 10 21 year olds. Manager was rude as hell, waitress was attentive. Two attempts to share experience with the restaurant and crickets, no response or acknowledgment. Shitty way to treat a customer of 35 years! A simple acknowledgment would have been nice!! read more

The rumors are true! We had dinner tonight at Roma Restaurant and it was great. We heard it was under new management with a new chef so we decided to try. The chef came from Olivas/Kruegers. Started with the calamari. It was some of the best I have ever had. Lightly fried with great flavor. The side of marinara was so tasty and J am not a red sauce fan, but this was perfect. I had the chicken alfredo broccoli with angel hair. The chicken was juicy, broccoli was cooked perfectly and the pasta was just right. It came with fresh grated Parmesan in top. We also had the chicken frangelico. Again cooked to perfection with mushrooms spinach peppers and sun dried tomatoes. Excellent flavors. Both meals came out piping hot. Service was spot on. I used to go the Roma quite often for years, but haven't been there in many years because, in my opinion, their food had gone way down hill. However, I went to there today for lunch with two friends and I was very pleasantly surprised to find the food to be very, very good. My friends both had chicken picata with angel hair pasta. They both had special requests for their meal preparations which were no problem and done to perfection., I had eggplant parmesan with penne pasta. The rolls were hot and fresh out of the oven. All of out meals were delicious and plentiful. John, our waiter, was wonderful, he was very attentive, pleasant, friendly and accommodating. I definitely recommend giving the Roma a try, especially if you haven't been there in a while. read more

We went for lunch,was greeted by hostess Colleen very pleasant. The new look is very classy,white tablecloths etc. We lucked out with the best waitress ever, Jamie. She was very pleasant, friendly, accommodating and professional. We ordered pasta meals, they were delicious,the sauce was excellent. She told Chef Frank, when he had a chance he came out and said thank you. We also had martinis very good. When the head bartender walked by, he stopped and asked how the drinks were, very polite. We will definitely go back again. A few suggestions, for lunch menu the prices were high, you only get your entree, no salad or soup etc. Also try having a few specials of the day. read more

I'm updating my review due to having just experienced one of the worst dining disasters that we've had in a long time. We went for lunch, anticipating good things based on our most recent visit. Unfortunately, this could not be further from the truth. Mrs. StoneOld had the Chicken Marsala. It was unrecognizable as the Sauce was thick and lumpy and not at all flavorful. The Chicken resembled frozen strips and tasted bad. The Penne Pasta was overcooked and gummy. It was all covered in a heavy layer of freshly grated cheese. For safety's sake, it went uneaten. An order of Steak Tips requested Medium Rare was likewise unrecognizable. Thin pieces of grossly overcooked meat resembling Skirt Steak that had been butchered into various sizes to resemble Tips. A huge FAIL. The Meatball Sub was another abomination. The Meatballs were dark gray and rubbery. I have never been served anything that color and the taste matched the appearance. Just terrible. The positives? The complimentary Bread was good and the French Fries were excellent. Service was friendly, efficient and attentive. Unfortunately, this was not nearly enough to overshadow the atrocities that we were served. No longer recommended and we definitely will not be back. read more

Something has happened to their food, and not for the better. We found out ownership/management changed hands and/or they must have lost their good cook. The time before last, I ordered eggplant parmesan and it was not good. There was a trace of eggplant accompanied by 95% bread crumb fried batter. So I said to myself, maybe it was an anomaly in the kitchen. So we tried Roma's again. This time I ordered eggplant rollatini and it was a mush of soggy bread crumbs and sauce with a trace of eggplant, almost non-detectable. Horrible!!! We won't be returning. read more

Steak tips, friend asked for medium came out well done, mixed reviews from my friends... waiter was awesome . First time here in quite some time and I'm so very thrilled either way the experience. I brought my daughter on Friday night and EVERYTHING was amazing! I quickly learned that the place was under new ownership for the past five months and it was evident. Although we had a good experience there before, this visit was just exceptionally From the pre-meal bread and oil, the mozzarella sticks with a sauce to die for, and heaping portions of chicken parm for me, and incredibly marinated steak tips accompanied by broccoli rabe (delicious) and a massive baked potato! The new owner, Brett came by our table to introduce himself and make us aware some exciting Italian dishes and apps that he will be adding to the menu soon. Unfortunately, the quality of the food at the Roma isn't what it used to be by any standard! My wife and I as well as family and friends have been going to Roma for over 40 years. Our most recent visit was not good at all with regards to the quality of the food. Something is missing with their Italian food dishes. The sauce isn't as good as it used to be, and the portions are skimpy. They used to be our favorite place to go to enjoy Italian food dishes. I do admit the service was very good as well as the environment. Still, the Roma needs to improve, or they will continue to lose long time customers. read more

Have been back several times since the new management has taken over. Have not been disappointed at all. Have tried multiple dishes. Every dish has been warm and delicious. The garlic bread with cheese is magical. The restaurant itself is very tastefully decorated. The staff is friendly attentive and knowledgeable. In the past the Roma had always been hit or miss. Lets be honest in the not too distant pass it was more miss. But since the new regime has taken over nothing could be further than the truth. If you want Italian comfort food reasonably priced I can't think of a better place the Roma. read more

From the outside, it doesn't look like much. But once in, the interior actually surprises you. And I bet this was the premiere wedding reception location of Haverhill in 1985. Not to mention, the service was solid and the food wasn't bad. Still, 4stars is too much, yet 3 is too little. It's like a 3.5 if you're scoring at home. The staff is beyond accommodating and the food is outstanding, consistent, and the portions are a great value. So nice to see it return to its former glory! read more

Have gone a few times under the new ownership. They have really stepped up their game. Making changes slowly but they are all in the right direction - dining room looks beautiful! Now seeing a new patio for outdoor dining and the live entertainment in different nights are great! The food is lightened ahead of what it was a year ago and the word is a new menu is coming out soon so can't wait! This is a fantastic restaurant. If you are in the merrimack valley it's a "must stop" . The bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly and the food is the best around. The general manager is very personable and relatable and gives you an unforgettable experience. It's the kind of atmosphere that you want to keep coming back to.. Kitchen hours could be longer but the food is impeccable so get it while you can! read more

You take a chance when you walk in. Somedays it's fine, sometimes it is inedible. They are good at sauce but bad, very bad, at anything "parmesan". The only safe thing to get is the salad, and the bread is excellent, but that's it. read more

Legit old school Italian food! Most incredible sauce! That's the only good points you get from my lafamily. Came in this last weekend. The restaurant was NOT busy, but a fraternity of 14-18 guys came in. It CRUSHED the restaurant. They were very understaffed . My mashed potatoes came out freezing cold and the cited that the burner was off and had to fix it. Huh. On return (they took my medium rare steak) back to the kitchen - not my choice, it came back well done. I don't bother to request new or fixed Bc it was a travesty at that point. Our family has been coming here for 3 generations, my wife's parents had their first date here and after introducing my kids to the restaurant. It will probably be our last visit. Steak cut was very poor for a $25+ plate. Mashed was cold. Steamed broccoli was Al dente. My kids didn't even like their under cooked pasta. No Italian deserts or expresso. Fantastic! I've been going to the Roma for years. I've always found the food to be good and the portions large but last night they hit it out of the park. We had our choice of seat at a window next to the walking/bike path( Fun to people watch) and nice to have real tablecloths.David the new manager came by to make sure to let him know if anything was not as we expected. We got the Roma Parm, Haddock Florentine and believe it or not, a ribeye steak as well as side salads. The Roma parm was a hugh portion for a reasonable price cooked perfectly with an excellent tasting sauce. Haddock florentine ....delicious. I always believe if you go to an Italian restaurant you get Italian food not a steak but I had just eaten chickem parm two days in a row. The steak was large( about a pound) perfectly cooked medium with grill marks and under $20 if I remember correctly. Tasty mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked mixed vegetables with a little too much butter ( we dipped our bread in it)The side salads were excellent also and the limoncello was a great finish. Upon entry the host was slurping something out of a mug with a spoon sticking out of it - very unprofessional. It was difficult finding the front door - they had no curb appeal. I ordered something simple - steak tips and fries. It was a kids meal portion. I've eaten the same meal at 99 Steak House down the street and I barely finish it. This seemed like they were rationing out their meager steak tips. I was hungry and sad - it took me just a minute to down the meal. I ordered medium, it came medium rare My wife ordered chicken picata - minus the lemon and minus the capers. It was chicken drenched in butter - blah. Fries fried in old oil. Recently had a mercy meal there. First let me say, 5 stars for your waiter Joe. He was efficient, very accommodating and friendly. The food was vey good and everyone seemed pleased. The room was pretty and ready when we arrived. Would definitely recommend for a function. I had to take a star away and quite honestly wanted to give 1 star review for the VERY RUDE woman Diana. She had a scowl on her face from the time we arrived. After sitting in the room for 15 minutes, our guests wanted to order drinks and were not sure if they should go to the bar or should wait for a waitress. We asked her that simple question and she turned away and answered very nastily walking away "Don't worry about it, someone will come". I get that we all can get overwhelmed or have bad days but get it together. This was a mercy meal, people were grieving. No need to be so ill mannered, crude and ignorant. read more
