If you aren't into rock, don't go there, unless you're looking for movies. The store is great from the inside and outside. Thousands of CDs are glued to the ceiling. I've spent a lot of time trying to find a disc I own up there. I did find one: Bloody Kisses by Type O Negative. Rock happens to be your thing? You won't be disappointed. Rolling Stones has lots of large and small rock and metal bands. Want some weird bootleg or import from Metallica? They've got it. I have yet to mention my favorite part of the store: prices. Last time I went to Rolling Stones, I left with 6 discs for under $70 after tax. None of my discs were more than $9.99. I don't know how they do it. read more

Rolling Stones at long last sells vinyl again... and some new as well as classic and classic/obscure rereleases. Look, today's records cost from $15 to $30 but the vinyl is different: BETTER and you have a fresh disc. Buy them here and/or down the street at BEYOND THE LIMIT. If I were 17 and loaded with cash, this would be heaven. Instead, it is where I whip out my credit card and indulge. There is still way too much DVD going on. In the recent past, porn was king here; not teen friendly. Now, the return to records is healthy. Anywhere in Europe, reocrds never went away; thank God they're back HERE and I feel great buying it again. Beatles fans, the newer vinyl versions are far better thsn your 1969 lp. Great place for music, incense and movies. I grew up in Norridge and remember when this opened in 1971 and everyone shopped here.. At least those in my age group.. And I still drive from Lombard to stock up on incense.. Always a great shopping experience. And the prices are good too!!! read more

When looking at the whole spectrum of record stores in Chicago, This one kinda ranks toward the very bottom. The vinyl selection pretty much covers off on classics and new releases so unless you're just starting your collection (or you stick to classics and new releases), don't expect to find anything really exciting here. I've actually found more interesting records at a Barnes and Noble (who, interestingly enough, typically has a much better selection than Rolling Stone). Also, the most insulting part of shopping here is that I always get the impression that they're expecting me to steal something. I'm typicaly one of just a very few customers in the store and it seems like when I head to the vinyl section, an employee almost always shows up to keep an eye on me while I shop. They're not very slick about it either - the dude will stand at the end of the vinyl aisle and alternate between looking at his phone and watching me. That, on top of the anti-theft system at the front door, the "no bags" policy, and the heavy scrutinization when paying with a credit card makes for a very uninviting shopping atmosphere. I've got a tip for you guys - instead of making customers feel like mistrusted criminals, hire people who know a thing or two about music and engage with your customers. Even if the point is to make sure that they don't steal stuff, they'll feel welcomed and if your staff is knowledgable enough to make suggestions, people might buy an extra record or two - but, then again, I guess your selection would have to go deeper than the latest Lady Gaga record to be able to make that work. read more

The year was 1985- the summer before freshmen year for me. My friend who had his license was planning a trip all the way down Irving Park Rd, from Schaumburg to Chicago. He was headed to famous Rolling Stones Records... did I want to come with? HELL YES. Know what happened? I GOT MY FIRST PUNK ROCK RECORD HERE! Looking back I feel kinda proud to admit that the record I somehow decided to get that day was one to stand up pretty well to the test of time- none other than Throb Throb by Chicago's own, Naked Raygun. See, I had good taste in 8th fucking grade- now go read my reviews and give me lots of usefuls, cools and funnys! So anyway Rolling Stones was like music mecca to young me- I wasn't ever gonna find any good records like that out in Schaumburg! You still can't! And Rolling Stones helped me memorize all the words to Rat Patrol as a first step on my way to a series of embarrassing haircuts. For that I owe them bigtime! I saw Cracker play a live set at Rolling Stones in 1994. The store hasn't changed a bit since. I remember picking up Nine Inch Nails' Fixed import EP from here for what had to be $20-$30 at the time, something my poseur ass was happy to shell out in the name of being bleeding edge. Rolling Stones is a really a nice escape from the megastores and iTunes-driven paradigm era. You can walk in and actually leave knowing you didn't hand your money to some far away corporate exec's step-son's girlfriend. This is your local money going to local business and being recycled to the hard working kids working there. I can't vouch for what they spend your hard-earned money on but if they have half the smarts as you do, oh local economy stimulator, they're probably investing is right back in the community. read more

Why did I go here? On a friday night, my friend and I were the only customers in the store under the age of 40. While, maybe 15 years ago, this store would have been an awesome place to spend a few hours in, even cd stores back then had used cd's you could buy for cheap. Here's what this store has: -Kinda cool ceiling/cd disco looking thing going on. -Live performance/concert DVD's -Late hours Here's what they DON'T have: -Records (Seriously?) -Posters -Used CD's -Headphones that aren't all broken for their listening stations! (Like 5 of their listening stations didn't work due to broken headphones) This place must either be a front for some sort of underground operation, OR they are waiting for SOPA to pass and planning on banking on the newly rediscovered interest in cd's(?) Love this place! I don't get there as much as I'd like but when I go, I can spend a couple hours searching through their stock. I've been a customer since I was a kid and it's like going back in time. Staff is cool, unassuming security guard that follows you around store is cool and they have a pretty good selection of vinyl if you're in to that sort of thing. I was very excited to come into the store earlier today. Unfortunately, once I arrived at the store, my excitement quickly disappeared as I was falsely accused of already coming to the store and publicly shamed by one of the employees. When attempting to purchase a signed CD, I was told I already was in the store today, even though I had not been. Typically, when someone accuses someone of something, they have proof, or in the very least, are willing to provide evidence of their claim. The employee claimed that I came into the store earlier and bought a CD with a credit card. Since it was a signed CD, the store had a policy of one per person, which is perfectly understandable and reasonable -- except I was not even allowed to purchase the one CD because, as mentioned, I was wrongly accused of already coming in and buying one. In defense of myself and the inaccurate claim being made against me, I offered to show the employee my credit card statement online and my transaction log to show that I had not purchased anything at the store today. In an attempt to disprove this false claim, I did show a store employee my transaction log. Of course, there was no record of me purchasing anything at the store because I was not there prior to this experience. Additionally, I offered to show my driver's license as a way to confirm my name and show that my name did not match any name on the store's transaction log. Yet, this was still not enough evidence. So I kindly asked the employees if they would review security camera footage and show me evidence that I was in the store already today. This request was also denied. Then, after I asked what proof I can provide to show that I was not in the store today, another employee then attempted to shame me for wanting the CD at all, saying "dude, it's OK, it's a Taylor Swift CD, you don't need it." I suppose it's not OK for me to be a fan and supporter of Taylor Swift based on this statement. It's disappointing to see a store that my family and I have been longtime fans of treat me like this. It's my hope this situation could be rectified but based on the way I was treated today, I'd expect my message will be ignored, just as my defense of myself in the store this afternoon was. I would highly recommend not taking your business here, and instead taking it somewhere where you will not have your integrity questioned, be degraded, and be laughed at by employees. Perhaps the most disappointing thing is that I just no longer feel comfortable taking my business to a store I've greatly enjoyed for a decade-plus. Rolling Stones has to be one of the best CD/Music Stores in Chicago. Old and new CD's(Time-wise) are decently priced. Compare it to Best Buy or Circuit City for a new CD would be around $15 to $20 maybe even more. While Rolling Stones has it for about $7.99 to $10, maybe sometimes as low as $5.99 or $2.99. If you can't find the CD you want, you can always go and find it on there Music search computer, print out a sheet and have it ordered depending on if its availible still. Not only do they provide a wide variety of music from almost every genre, but they also have many genres of DVDs ranging from the latest releases just out of the theatres, to live concerts or to behind the scenes and music documentaries.. And if your 21, you can go down that one particular isle ;). Another great thing is the fact that you can purchase t-shirt from a fair variety of bands as well. Support your favorite rock act with for about $15. Don't get caught stealing, not like you can with the many hidden cameras and the hawk eye security. Don't be too loud or you might find yourself leaving without what you wanted. Recommended would be to leave your bookbacks, skateboards, and etc at the front near the security guard. The occasional autograph sessions with popular musical acts is also a great addition to the place, because not many places will do something like that anymore. If you were to purchase any movie, CD, band related t-shirt, I highly recommend Rolling Stones as your first and only stop. Its an alright record shop. But has way more CDs than records. And the selection is all either new stuff or reissues. Plus all their CDs are inconsistently priced. It is alright. But I prefer my purely music stores, and this one has more DvDs than records (including a porn section that is just out in the open). I have a feeling this place was cool when it was in its prime back in the day, but now it feels kind of lame. If I am in the area again I will stop by, but wouldn't recommend making a drive there just for it. I used to make the trip over here by bus when I was in high school. I didn't even go to the HIP, I went here and to that store down the street from it. I've found so many CDs that I couldn't find elsewhere, and most of the time they were CHEAP! I mean, I'll dish out $14.99 for a CD, especially if it's one I can't find, but frequently finding them for a lot less was pretty sweet. Also, when I used to wear nothing but band shirts (most coming from concerts), I could find some harder to find ones here. I remember once passing up a hard to find NIN shirt (one with ERASER lyrics on it) to buy the stupid Downward Spiral one and when I came back obviously it was gone. It's ok, because I found it on ebay eventually, but man, that was a stupid buy to pass up. I haven't been here in awhile, so I'm not sure how the employees are, but I also found a nice mix of those that liked music and liked talking about it (and helping you find what you needed) crossed with those that wanted nothing to do with you and apparently resented their job. Eh, so be it. Most of my music nowadays comes from friends burning me CDs or connecting my iPod to their computers and taking music that way, but when I need something and Best Buy doesn't have it or it's ridiculously over-priced I head over. read more

Until I discovered Wax Trax, Reckless and all the old Clark Street haunts, this was my favorite record store. Even after finding all of those places, I still stopped in at Rolling Stones. Not so much anymore. Long gone are the days where you'd find obscure rock. I guess what I'm trying to say is, this place peeked in the mid 90's and has slowly slipped into a very inexpensive alternative to Best Buy. I popped in here recently and picked up a few "back catalog" discs, but as far as new releases go, it's mainstream rock and hesher city. They're good at what they do, but I will always long for those days in the late 80's, where it would be advisable to wear earplugs while shopping and the main area still had LP's. read more

This is the spot for most rock/metal albums to be found. My favorite parts about this place are the bootleg concert DVDs and the jazz/Motown/blues sections. I bought a System of a Down bootleg there a couple years back. Certain sections of the DVD did not work, but the parts that did work were well worth the money because of rarity (still can't find this footage anywhere else). What I like about the jazz, Motown, and blues sections is that you will find rare and strange compilations that you will find no where else. Some are bootlegs of concerts or "homemade" greatest hits albums with a couple unreleased tracks, some are also labeled "import" indicating they are not actually available in the U.S. But are still legit albums of said bands. So, what wins this place over for me is the rare bootleg albums/DVDs you won't find anywhere else. The reason they don't get 5 stars is because clerks there can't help you because most of them don't know how and the porn/movie/tv show section is pointless and crappy (get rid of it and put more albums there! I feel that they are over priced compared to Best Buy and Target. They do have an okay selection of all types of music and it used to be a cool place to visit. I hate the location of this store! I also hate the fact that there's always an employee or two mulling around in the back. Yes, I know they're there to catch the teenagers stealing, but it always makes me feel weird. Although the music selection is spotty, there's always a lot of good bargains on CD's. Check out the back wall, which is filled with CD's that are between 5 and 10 dollars. This is the ultimate CD shop if you still use those contraptions. They've always got the newest albums and allll the old ones too. They've decorated it very cute with CD's all over the ceiling. I had a crapload of CD's stolen from me and since that day my urge to go out and buy CD's on a regular basis really died. However one of my best friends hardcore loves the store and has taken me in here many many times. You can easily spend an hour looking around if you're really in the mood to shop around. They've got a lot more obscure techno as well as other genres you won't find at say, Best Buy or wherever the kids go to buy CD's these days. Dear Stones, Hi - it's me, Chris. Remember me? We go way back - I remember visiting you when I was a wee young lad, remember? You had the tapes in the glass cases that you had to ask to be opened in the front and the back was all vinyl? Yeah. We had good times. I loved meeting Iron Maiden, Glenn Danzig, Rob Zombie, Rob Halford, and many other bands in your store. The old security guard - the younger guy who was an off duty cop - real friendly like, the guy who one day my buddy was shopping and asked where I was - I was on my honeymoon - then the next time I dropped in, maybe three weeks later, he came up to me and my wife, shook our hands and congratulated us on our nuptials. Yeah, the guys like that are the reason why when my buddy got his license, that was the first place we went, and I went back - almost every week, literally, for 15 years. I've easily spent $20,000 in your doors over the years, if you think I'm lying you haven't seen my media room. But, we've grown apart, and honestly - it's you, not me. First - I'm so tired of being stalked around the store when I shop. When the twin albino headbangers followed me around, it was awesome because they had no tact and because I'd pretend I was being chased by heavy metal loving ghosts. I remember making hilarious laps around the store, turning at random aisles just to see what they'd do, and they'd follow me at every twist and turn, I felt like Pac-Man! Meanwhile my friends would stand by the shirts and take it in and laugh hysterically. Plus, I'm older now, I finished college, I have a career, I can see following around a 16 year old, but I'm nearly 30 - get off my back. It's not even the fact that I'm being watched, it's that when I look at the person staring at me - sometimes because I'm walking in their general direction - they cross their arms, puff out their chest, and attempt to stare me down. Customer service this is not. I assure you, the past few times I had things in my hand that I intended to buy, but I was treated with such hostility I put them back. I'm the guy that tried handing my stack of CDs to one of your thugs (he just glared at me when I told him I wasn't going to spend my money because of his attitude)....but somehow I doubt I'm the first person to do something like that. Second - I'm not here to make accusations but some of your products just don't look right - why are so many of your CDs made in South America? I bought a CD set from you - Beethoven symphonies, yeah that's right - Beethoven from Stones, it was $30 or so which was a solid deal for something different....I don't get why the back and front covers are pixelated when I've seen this set elsewhere with crisp graphics and why the CD graphics look so....off. It's just strange. Third - the gigantic porn section is just too much. Really. And what I like is you have all those jerks staring me down when I look at CDs but your porn section goes unmanned. What's that? You have this new technology called cameras there? Can't you put those by the CDs? I can ignore a camera, not Blinky and Pinky. Fourth - your shady CDs may be cheap but your DVD prices are not even remotely competitive - your $2 selection of garbage doesn't fool me. Fifth - your snot nosed check out clerks aren't cooler than me. I assure you. They may be younger, but their whole get up just reeks of effort. Effort = lame. Sixth - what's with all the rap and nu-metal? I remember seeing (relatively) obscure stuff here, cool (legal) import singles of bands I loved, and if something new was coming out by a great band, you'd have it the day it hit the streets, if not a few days earlier. Yeah, you have the new Disturbed, but why no Damned? You sir are the Load era - maybe there's a hint of the greatness you used to have, but for now, you just suck. You've taken enough my money. It's been fun - I'm done though. The thing is, you're not the only CD shop in town. Reckless has taken the torch - the staff at Reckless are infinitely cooler than me, yet they'd never acknowledge it- perhaps because they're too busy doing what appears to be work, rather than staring customers down. They also know an insane amount about music, plus I'll bet if I gave a random IQ test to any employee (or customer, no offense to the nu-metal crowd you cater to), easily 90% would break triple digits. I'm not sure that percentage of your staff would hit double digits. If you haven't been to Stones in years, please do yourself a favor - don't even think of returning, just keep your fond memories of that great place in Norridge and let it go. Rolling Stones Records aren't what they used to be, largely because the world isn't what it used to be. I started coming here in the mid-90s when I started high school, and it was one of my first forays into that elusive subculture of rock & roll. I was rubbing shoulders with dudes in black leather jackets, spiked collars, and eye makeup. The devil's music blared through the speakers. The dizzying sights of thousands of CDs reflecting colorful neon lights, framed gold and platinum albums, and rock memorabilia overwhelmed my senses. I can't forget the aroma of marijuana incense wafting throughout the store. Often, rock bands on tour would stop here for autograph sessions. The lines went out the door and down the block. Rolling Stones Records was THE hub for all things rock related in the area. It was like the dark spot on the Norridge map. Squeaky clean, squeaky clean, squeaky clean, wait - oh yeah, THAT place. It was crawling with scoundrels, punkers, metal heads, posers, and freaks. Even the roof of the building was famous - huge wooden cutouts of rock stars such as Ozzy Osbourne and Micheal Jackson beckoned to passerby. Fast-forward to 2013. The digital age, the era of instant gratification, and lean times, generally speaking, in terms of the economy. There stands Rolling Stones Records, a shell of what it once was. It seems sad from the outside. Without much upkeep or maintenance, it seems to have been forgotten. The roof, once lovingly stocked with all the sneering characters parents loved to hate, is now mostly barren, save for one half of what was once Carlos Santana. The band posters in the windows suggest this place now caters mostly to older rockers who still buy CDs. The bands have stopped coming, lines no longer weave around barricades. Inside, a surprisingly large portion of the store is dedicated to porno DVDs. Classy. The CD section is limited to classics and top-sellers. You probably won't find KMFDM or 311 but you're sure to find black Sabbath's classics alongside Katy Perry. One thing that has not changed whatsoever are the looks the security guys give you as you flip your way through the selection of CDs. Be prepared to be given the stink eye from the moment you open the door and pass the loyal Victor Records dog sitting near the entrance. For the sake of sentimentality, I hope this place sticks around. I hope it can learn to find more ways to attract younger people, because at this rate it is destined to burn out as 80s rockers age and their nostalgia begin to wane. For me, it will stand as a memory of my wild high school years - God knows how much money I have spent here. However, I now buy my music online and use an iPod so that I don't have to lug all those CDs all over the place. Nothing gets scratched, and frankly, I don't care about album art, nor do most people anymore. Maybe the new hipster generation will find reasons to support this place. Vinyl is big now, perhaps CDs will follow. Whatever the case, though this place to me exists only as memories, I hope it can stick around. Ah, Rolling Stones records - truly a a landmark institution for many of us! I still travel from the western burbs just to stop in and relive the days of my youth here! Growing up in northwest Chicago and nearby Park Ridge, we used to come here religiously to hang with fellow rockers, hoping to catch the attention of one of the older and more cooler 19 yr olds that worked here. Any new release, we'd be in our cars for a road trip; deejays made appearances here and so did bands. It was and still is, a place that breeds non-conformity and craziness and spontaneity, because it's rock and roll. I'm giving them an extra star for old-time's sake, for when back in the mid-90s, they had their incredible coupons in Illinois Entertainer where you could buy an unlimited number of albums priced up to $14.99 for only $5.99 each. I would make the 15 mile round trip down Irving Park Road on my bike and come back with my backpack bulging. But even way back in 1999, their inventory started getting reduced, and I had trouble finding indie bands they used to carry. Then the coupons stopped, which is understandable. It was too good to last. However, when demand drops off, shouldn't prices also? That's how it usually works, in everything but the damn music biz. If you're looking for CDs, this is a good spot. However, if you were looking for vinyl, like me... it's hit or miss. Their selection isn't huge, but they have enough for browsing, about 10-15 milk crates or so. All the records are brand new, from what I could tell, and popular titles. So, if you're looking for an album you could get almost anywhere, this would be a cool place to check out. Yes, RS is not the store it once was, but the modern incarnation is also not totally bad either as I catch many overstating. I'd actually agree with the common saying of it 'being an inexpensive alternative to Best Buy', with an addendum that it's NOT a place to find older CDs and/or ones from obscure bands. The security guards strangely(not sure why, as they used to seriously scare me hardcore!) don't intimidate me the way they once did, and in fact haven't given me any dirty looks the last few times I've stopped in here. I miss the vinyl selection they once had(RS, you continue to miss your opening of really making this a destination store once again, plus don't you wanna really leave a great impression on ex-FYE shoppers, once the dust settles on them scurrying from the mall), but they still have many deals on new CDs and DVDs(TV box set DVDs excluded), and the barato pron(oops, cheap porn, I was going for a cheesy bungling of Spanglish) selection can be fun to browse. They're not open till midnight anymore(boo!), but are still open till 11, and just off of the 78/80/X80 bus terminal. Finally, although I would've preferred you keeping your vinyl selection, it is better than nothing you kept your retro CD interior decor. And I'll settle the parking debate: park in the mall parking garage, and sneak out the secret food court entrance on Octavia by walking south till you get here. You can also park on the blocks to the west, but it can be very challenging to find street parking in those spaces(unless it's say, after 8-9pm), and why wouldn't you rather go with convenience, plus(if you're a sugar fiend, edited from beast since fiend is the actual word I wanted to use) a possible Cinnabon from the food court? And don't forget that the Illinois Entertainer magazine always has RS coupons! read more

How can you not love Rolling Stones? This record store epitomizes the Northwest Side teenage experience. I think the teenage, surly, too cool for school employees are kinda cute. They're like babies! Unfortunately as a teenager I was way too bashful to come here. Now that I'm a grownup I enjoy browsing through their selection and finding hidden bargains. For example, the other day I found the Ramones greatest hits for $5.99. Score! Only negative about Stones is their limited selection of hard to find and rare cds. I've been going to this place for a long time. They used to be really awesome. Have band signings in the store, the used to carry rare imports etc. Now (at least to me) it's slipped a little. I hate this place with a passion, whenever im there they have 2 or more people staring you down(I ride my bike a lot and often wear a backpack as a result, which makes the stalking about ten times worse), and they don't even offer to help if you're looking for something. If this was 1990 , I would be giving this place 5 stars , Hell , nostalgia is tempting me to do so now. Sadly , all the stuff I'm looking for these days , are rarely there. I don't buy much current popular music , if I did , this place would also get higher marks. The last 25 Cd's I looked for here , I found 15 here , and got a pretty good deal. All the bands that used to load the shelves in the era of big hair and spandex are getting harder to find there. Time moves on , I guess , but for "obscure" (that hurt) artists , I suppose they have some representation , which is more than I can say for all the big boxes out there. I'm still pissed at this place for not having the first Danzig CD , but I guess I give them points for having two others. Stones also has a decent DVD selection , theatrical and (chunka,chunka) adult. The DVD prices I'm not so thrilled about , a little high. You can also pick up some band shirts and hoodies , some new bands and some classic stuff. Check the back wall for discount Cd's , these don't suck , like other places discount CD sections. Heavy hitters like the Stones , The Who , Zeppelin , AC/DC , etc can be found there. I love this place for what it was , I still shop there for what it is. It's still the price leader in the area , and a really good cross section. Hell , they will even order something for you . If you are reading this , odds are you can order it yourself. Another plus for all you teen guys ...cute rocker chicks , a staple since at least 1989, enjoy. read more

As a kid, Rolling Stones was my Disneyland. Everything about the place, from the CDs hanging from the ceiling to the listening stations and the rows of CDs to browse through captured my imagination. I hope every kid growing up in the Chicago area has a chance to visit this place and discover another world of music buying that is sadly going away in the Internet age. read more

I have always loved this place! I loved how you could easily listen to new stuff right up front! Great prices and I loved how money went to ONE owner instead of a big chain! Only reason I have 4 stars instead of 5 is that parking sometimes is difficult. Yes you can park by the HIP but not always the most convenient! But what a great place! read more

Although it was a return to a time gone by, be very careful for any returns. We spent $50 in ten minutes and when we needed to make an exchange because the DVD would not download to our library, as we were told it would, they would not accept it because they require their receipt and my CC receipt was not acceptable. I was supposed to have read the back of their receipt to know this as they never mentioned it on the day before Christmas and THEY WOULD NOT HONOR AN EXCHANGE. There are better stores and they have better policies that don't make one feel like a thief even after giving them my money. The past is unfortunately past. read more

I give Rolling Stones 2 stars simply because it just dosen't offer me anything anymore. I had stopped in a few years ago and picked up a couple dvds because I was in the area. I could have probably saved a couple of bucks if I had gone elsewhere though. Rolling Stones used to be the place to get cds like 10 years ago. I could find almost everything I wanted there and I even found some good shirts. Now I find nothing and there's plenty of other places to get dvds porn or otherwise. read more

I was a regular to Rolling Stone records for many years, as so many others. You never knew what you might find! And then one hot summer day, my motorcycle broke down on the ride over. Luckily I got it going, but by the time I finally made it, I was a sweaty mess, and asked to use their restroom so I could clean up and then enjoy a well-deserved browse through their wondrous stacks of vinyl and everything else. The guy in charge refused to let me use their washroom! "Go to Jimmy Johns down the street," he said. "But I'm not spending money at Jimmy Johns." He shrugged and turned away. I simply could not believe it. When I got home I penned a letter to the manager, but it was never answered. I tried once more, thinking maybe it had been tossed by someone inadvertently. I simply could not believe they were willing to let my business go without so much as a response. Needless to say, I never went back again. It bothered me for quite a long time. Bottom line: any shop that denies their customers the most basic human dignity of using their restroom does not deserve your business. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

Rolling Stones isn't what it used to be, which is both good and bad. No longer is this a strictly metal head/rock and roll store but has several genres which is great. What annoys me though (what may seem really minor) is they have "New release" tabs for albums that have been out for years, and no they are not remasters. I seen a Smash Mouth album as a new release and it just irked me a bit. Also, they no longer carry nostalgic apparrel such as old school wrestling shirts or 80s/90s references which were always cool. The Blu Ray section is really up to date and I actually saw several copies of Anchor-Man...which I haven't been able to find anywhere! The staff is friendly. They need to remove the video game section as it's really a waste of space. read more

When I was a kid, this place was heaven; it catered to all my music needs and provided me with the selection that the nearby Best Buy just couldn't give. But since I found out about Reckless Records a while back, I've cut back on going here a bit. They have pretty decent prices on new releases, and the bargain bin has some pretty good finds in it from time to time. Nowadays, whenever I try to find something really obscure, chances are that I won't be able to find it here. One thing that I've always found unnerving is the security guys standing around the store. I can't stand it when someone is watching me as I browse for music. Otherwise, this place is still pretty great for inexpensive new releases, DVDs, and the occasional artist appearance. read more

This is a very fun store. They have a huge selection of cds and movies. Although they are very dedicated to the rock and metal genre as evidenced by the crazy decorations on the outside and the blaring music and band t-shirt up for sale -- they do actually care a wide variety of music. If you can take the music, it's worth a visit just for the views from the inside. read more
