A refreshing opposite, from the jerk owner Vintage Vinyl in Evanston has(won't get into him any further here, but if you want to know more about that place look up my review on them). And I wish all music store employees and owners, were as nice as this guy is! Definitely stop here, if you happen to go out to this part of Oak Park and are either looking for CDs, or even just like to have good conversations with others about music. If you're looking for lots of stock of new stuff this might not be your spot but if you want fairly priced used records then this is a great spot. I have found a lot of hidden gems in here over the years at both locations. In the past I've gotten nice vinyl copies of hard rock bands like Captain Beyond and Lucifers Friend for NOT discogs/online prices. Last week I got a sealed Weird Al cassette for just a few dollars and this album is not available on vinyl so it makes it extra fun. They are not trying to be cool or capitalize on vinyl - they just like and sell lots of music and media. Go support - Go dig!

Orbit Records piqued my interest when they opened recently in my neighborhood, and I selected the…read moreideal day for my first visit -- Record Store Day on April 22nd. This is a cozy operation with piles and stacks of rando vinyl at a discount as well as an extremely organized selection of LPs. Not seeing what you want? Just ask, 'cause there's a sizeable collection in the back, too. They also sell CD's, posters, books, mags, et cetera. The people who run the place from what I overheard really seem like they know their stuff. I'm no connoisseur of records or an LP geek, so you may not want to go by me, but still. The folks who work there are friendly - I like being welcomed into the fold without having to be an uber-collector or anything. In brief, Orbit is a great record and miscellaneous media joint that's off the beaten path but totally worth the trip.

I was told I would receive a call the following day once it was tested. After receiving no update, I called the store myself and was told my offer was ready and to come in. After driving over 40 minutes, I was informed in person that you could not accept the console due to a fan issue--information that should have been communicated over the phone. Additionally, during a previous visit to sell a collection of Naruto Funko Pops and manga, I explicitly asked to complete the transaction that day to avoid another trip. Despite assurances, I was kept waiting until closing time, only to be given a rushed and surprisingly low offer. Clear communication and respect for customers' time are essential. I hope you will address these issues to improve your service going forward.

I discovered after listening for a while that the teaching from this broadcast, were so anointed and has so impacted my life and my future ministry. I asked my daughter-in-law to take me to the mall so I could visit Living Word Christian Center in hopes of meeting Pastor Winston personally. I saw the Royal Christian Bookstore as I searched for the church at the mall, so I went into the bookstore asking for directions. I shared with them who I was and that I was looking for the church. The staff was so warm and excited in meeting us, hearing my story and why I had come to visit. After assisting me with my shopping, several of the staff members personally gave us a tour of the church and the Joseph School for Business. It so happened that there was a holiday sale going on at the bookstore as well. We spent approximately 2-hours between shopping at the bookstore and going on a tour. This ended-up being the highlight of my visit to Chicago, aside from the visit with my family. The selection in the bookstore was great and well worth the trip. The staff treated us like family, it was the experience of a lifetime, we will be forever indebted to the staff, I've called back to the bookstore since my trip, just to say hello and to again thank them for the warm reception, the tour, and the like family atmosphere of Royal Christian Bookstore and Cafe, I recommend it highly. I have been going to this location for over thirty years; back when it was Second Hand Tunes. In 2004 I met Alan and started talking to him. He told me he was going to purchase the store. After work I'd stop by every week to see if he took over yet, I didn't want to buy anything until it was no longer S.H.T. ! I am particularly impressed by a number of things about this business; Alan is very down-to-earth, I do not like going to indie record stores where the people behind the counter act like they are so self important and you are just some customer, Alan does not have this annoying patronizing attitude. Also the selection is phenomenal and varied. You never know what you'll find! IMHO the best record store ever! read more

Unlike typical shops that only highlight popular artists and lump all soul musicians into one alphabetical section, they had a lot of artists despite popularity categorized. The service was great. I ended up grabbing a handful of records throughout the week, including a couple Record Store Day releases I had missed out on back home. Since I was traveling, they were also kind enough to ship my purchases for me, which made things incredibly easy. If anyone can ever pull together the funds to open a Chicago Music Museum, these are the first people you want to talk to. The Bad: The shop needs a deep cleaning. A lot of the music is unaccessible and will take unpacking and "digging" to find what you want. The music that is accessible, for the most part, is not protected by plastic and most items are in "good" to "poor" condition. You will be hard pressed to find any pristine items here. And, unfortunately, prices do not reflect the condition. All items seem to be priced at the high end of the scale. Conclusion: A record shop worth visiting... yes, it is worth the drive if you are not from the area. You will find records you've never seen before, and may never see again, but be prepared to pay higher than online prices.
