Torn Light is one of my favorite record stores in the city. They have a great selection of records for all kinds of people. I've found some rare esoteric stuff for very good prices. They have a small but excellent collection of books as well. Lots of publications you won't really see elsewhere in Chicago. The staff are super friendly and inviting. Highly recommended. read more

Found something local. I was also interested in getting something for a friend and the guy behind the counter had a good recommendation for me even though they didn't carry it in the store. Voila, they had a large, wonderful selection of CDs for my son-he still uses boom boxes and a portable CD player so we buy them when we find them. My boyfriend and I love crate digging on Saturdays! We looked on Yelp for Record Stores we haven't hit in the Cincinnati area and found Torn Light on the list. This hidden gem is located close to Dark Horse Brewing in Bellevue (near Washington Ave). Every record shop is different and has something great to offer. This store is one of them. I was amazed with the selection of used records on site. They don't carry newly pressed Vinyls, but a great amount of rarities. The shelves are organized and fairly priced. What I love the most in hunting for vinyls is this place is very detailed in categorizing. From Bossa Nova Jazz, European, Pacific Islander, Funk/R&B, Disco, Hard Metal, etc. They have a small section for new releases on freshly stocked vinyl if you are a regular. And last, they have a great selection of old school hip hop. Definitely singles. I was impressed with the $1.00 bins that I scored an amount of Jazz/Easy listening! In the back you will find a listening station, used record/speaker equipment, used 45', cassettes and Cds. The employee working the shift at that time was very friendly and helpful! What a hidden gem! This place is tucked away in Clifton. Great place to go after grabbing dinner or a movie at one of the nearby restaurants. The guys in there were super friendly and were so helpful. I left with 3 albums under $20. Whitney Houston, Sade, and a jazz album. read more

Who would have thought that Bellevue, KY holds a great destination for vinyl hunters? It's true and right on Fairfield Ave.! Easy to find and full of vinyl goodness! The place itself is a little on the small side but doesn't feel cramped at all. They utilize the space perfectly and all the selections are categorized very well so everything is easy to find. They have a vast collection of standard 33 1/2s as well as a wide variety of 45s. Overall prices are definitely fair for the quality and great finds can even be found in their dollar bins. The staff are all very friendly and willing to help fellow vinyl addicts find new titles to add to their collections. Plus they always have good tunes playing so they definitely know their stuff. So, if you're an avid vinyl hunter (and let's face it, there are a LOT of us types these days), give this destination a visit. You may leave with more goodies than you expected and enjoy every single one. read more

Torn light is up and coming as they've already outgrown their first retail space and moved to a larger location. In my several trips to Torn Light I've been able to find a handful of records (and cassettes) that other local record shops don't carry. The staff/owners are very knowledgable and welcoming. Torn_Light fails to keep their promise to ship to you once you pay promptly. After 7 days after payment and no shipping and no reply back from a on-line seller platform, I had to involve the Administrator for the online site, then and only then did Alex reply back with a promise to ship me my record using 3 day shipping. Now, almost 9 days later, still no record. I called them out for their lies and they retaliated on me for speaking the truth, stating I berated them. I was NOT GOING to post any reviews on Google or Yelp, I just mentioned that it was good that sites like these exist, so they did a negative review on me as an act of retaliation. So here I am making sure that "BUYER BEWARE" when conducting business with Torn Light Records. A Nightmare to deal with. read more

My favorite record store in the area. If I want a metal, hardcore punk, industrial/noise release that one of the other independent record shops don't have, I can find or order it here. They primarily carry vinyl and cassettes. Which is great for me, because nowadays I mainly find myself buying tape-only releases that have small runs from underground bands and artists. This is really the only place in the Cincinnati area that carries ones for those genres. They do an excellent job at keeping it well-stocked with killer stuff and at this point, I've probably traded in or sold a quarter of everything I own to them. read more
