Went on a Saturday morning, plenty of donuts to choose from...Ordered 4 different kinds of donuts; Maple bar, chocolate bar, cake and regular glazed. ALL tasted old and dry. We came on a weekend afternoon when it was slow. I waited for the lady ahead of me to get her dozen donuts. No one else was there, and I thought I'd be served next since I was waiting patiently. Then the worker decided to serve someone who just walked in. That was pretty annoying (one star knocked down for that). She wasn't all too friendly either, like she was ready to get out of there. The donuts are okay. Not sure what's special about them (one star knocked down for that). They're still pretty tasty, as most deep fried carbs laced with a ton of sugar naturally are. But I'm not really sure what the hype is about. A regular dozen (small and unfilled donuts) was $13.50. The other dozen option was $15.50 and you could get 6 of the bigger or filled donuts and 7 of the smaller ones. I went with the $15.50 option but realized we could've just gone with the $13.50 option. The bigger donuts are kind of too massive and we cut them up into half serving pieces. I don't see myself making a special trip here when a donut craving hits, but if I'm around and it takes little effort to get here, I'll probably grab a donut or two. Not bad but not amazing either. I parked my car in the Rolling Pin parking lot, stepped out and smelled...intense sweetness (aka concentrated fresh donut aroma) in the air. Visions of giant donuts danced in my head. The donut shop ladies were all smiles as I perused their wares. Their cake donuts are regular size though they did have some large looking, plump donuts in the case on the left (the fancy donut side). I don't go to donut shops that often so I was a little confused by the display (they had quite a few varieties of donuts like twists, fritters, old fashioned, bars). I don't know the name of every donut and I didn't want to ask about which ones were filled with what. I had a chocolate cake donut with vanilla glaze (80 cents). It wasn't warm at 8 AM (a let down because their sign says warm'n fresh donuts 6 - 11 AM daily), it didn't have any sprinkles (boo), but it did taste fresh and was slightly crispy in parts (which I liked). Nice cake, good sweet glaze, sweet but not too sweet. I wish it were fluffier and I like sprinkles. The fancy, larger donuts are $9.95 a baker's dozen and regular donuts are $8.50 for a baker's dozen. They also had some cake and scones. There isn't any place to sit but some people seem to hang out in the parking lot with their donuts. They have a small parking lot with a pretty painted mural on the wall. It was piping warm and they just slathered the chocolate on that soft, chewy, dense heaven sent donut. I walked in and found one lonely woman working. She acknowledged me but then quickly went to the back. Yes when it comes to desserts I'm sort of a "not too sweet please!" kind of gal. It looked pretty fresh since they didn't even have time to restock the case yet and I merged over to the small window on the left of the restaurant with one little tiny bar to enjoy my donut. FOOD TIP: They only take cash, prepare to make it rain. Ate here at 3am after I got back from a night out, didn't remember it. I'm told I thought it was delicious but I needed to find out again. On my way back home to the east bay at 8am the next morning and needed something to snack on for the long journey. When my husband wanted donuts (it was his fault and that's the story I'm sticking with) we decided to take a drive over to San Bruno to check them out. I had high hopes initially because it had great Yelp reviews and was open 24 hours. But I walked away disappointed... First of all, they're quite pricey. I don't mind paying more for great quality, a unique selection of items or great customer service, but this place delivered none of those. A dozen donuts is $10.75 or $9.75, depending on whether you get regular or "upgraded" donuts. After tasting the "upgraded" donuts, I couldn't figure out what was so "upgraded" about them other than the price. Customer service = bad: Being new to the place, my husband and I needed a bit of time to mull over our options (we were buying a dozen). The lady behind the counter stood, arms crossed, staring at us repeating "you ready?" Since we felt rushed, we began making our choices but ended up changing our mind a few times because we kept discovering new donuts we wanted. She was visibly irritated and even gave an audible sigh saying "Okay, what do you want?!" I look at it like this...if you rush your customers, then you shouldn't be surprised if I ask you swap out a couple of donuts after I change my mind. And honestly, is swapping out a few donuts really that big a deal? I think not. And for almost $11 a pop, the dozen here was definitely not worth it. The only thing special about their donuts IMO is their crueller, which is light and fluffy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. But the rest were just average. This place rocks! Their donuts rock, their hours rock, and so does their staff! The building is unique on the block its on. There's not too many buildings that stick out on this block actually. I think it may be the only one that big, so you can't miss it! As soon as you step foot inside, your sense of smell is put through the wringer with the scents of freshly baked donutes. So good. The inside looks clean too. I don't think I've ever seen it looking gross or dirty. So that puts my mind at ease as to what's going on where I can't see. There aren't any seats inside, so it's pretty much to go on everythign. Some people just hang around and talk inside while they eat their donut. Parking is pretty much abundant. Ther's both street, and a lot, you can park in. I've never not been able to not find parking... that sounded weird... but yeah. Especially late night. I just pull up right in front and there's usually a spot right there in front of the door. Their donuts are goooood. My favorite I would say is the French Donut. Glazed on the outside with a different than normal donut pattern, but soft and moist on the inside.... oh god I want one now! Their custard filled, and chocolate filled, donut holes kick ass too. I ususally pair up donuts holes with my french donut. I need both! They also sell milk, chocolate milk, and juices. I'm so tempted to get them, but I tell myself that I can make it home and have my own glass of milk. Then I race off into the night, LOL. Ok, I seriously cannot believe that I haven't written a review on this place yet. I have been coming here since I was a child. My parents both worked two jobs, so either right after my Dad's graveyard shift he'd pick up a fresh box (and I mean straight from the oven fresh) to bring home OR before bringing my mom to work for her early morning shift, we'd stroll through here and grab a couple dozen for the fam. We'd have their doughnuts at least three times, if not more, a week. And no one ever got tired of them. The freshness, their taste, the variety. It is just all around an amazing doughnut. The place itself is vintage and has a whole lot of character, and it hasn't changed. The paintings on the outside walls and how you can see into to bakery from inside the shop. And they have a great variety to chose from, all for a really great price. There's nothing like waking up for school, walking to the kitchen and seeing that light gold and brown rolling pin box sitting on our dining room table. It brings a smile to my face now just thinking about it =). All I can say is that if they have been open for this long and are still getting great reviews, then they're obviously doing something right. The employees are friendly, the place is so welcoming, the price is low, the doughnuts are great quality, and I can continue to say nothing but great things of this place. I had no idea they were so close to my place of work! I had a craving for donuts and thought about grabbing a dozen to bring into work to share with my coworkers. At about 8:20am, I found my way to San Bruno and stopped in to get some donuts. There was a small line of about 5 people, but it moved quickly. The two ladies at the counter were really efficient! The lady who helped me was really nice, patient, and professional as I took my time picking out which donuts I wanted. I picked out a couple chocolate old fashioned donuts, a regular glazed old fashioned donut, a couple chocolate glazed donuts, a maple bar, and a couple jelly filled donuts. To top it off, I got an apple fritter in a baggie for myself. 13 donuts for $13 and some change. Not too shabby! My apple fritter was pretty solid for an apple fritter. I definitely may have preferred some more apple pieces, but it was crispy on the outside and soft and airy on the inside. Donut perfection! By the end of the day, all the donuts I bought were gone. Basically I was planning on visiting my friend in LA and he told me to bring him a dozen of donuts from Rolling Pin since I lived in the area. First I thought, there are tons of doughnut places in LA what's so special about this one? Well after taking a bite of a my first warm glazed doughnut I was blown away. I proceeded to get the dozen donuts for my friend as well as a 2nd dozen for myself! I used to live a few blocks from here and I can tell you, damn that was a dangerous thing! On a good windy day, sometimes I could smell the donuts wafting their way over to me, and since they're open every hour of the day, it's the perfect pit stop to make after going out at night! Rolling Pin makes their own chocolate and maple glaze. I mean, who even does that any more? Truly the maple is the best I've tasted. This place has been around for over 50 years and they've definitely mastered their recipes. I know I checked in here once but I've been here twice. I was looking for a donut place that opens early in the morning so I can grab some before work, this place is 24 hrs!! But their donuts are fresh daily from 6am to 11 am only, that's a little disappointing since I want to get fresh donuts around 5am for my coworkers, not a day old. Good place for a quick coffee and donut. They have a variety of donuts here. I recommend this place.

My wife and i were in the San Bruno area and were in the mood for some donuts. She called a donut shot but they never answered the phone, then found this place! 24/7! And it was only 5 minute drive from where we were. It seemed like it was a popular spot because there was a line at 10pm lol they have ALL KINDS of donuts! We got a dozen and went wild, pretty much got one of each and best thing is that if you buy a dozen, you get one more donut for free. I gotta say, the donuts were really good but I wish the service was a little friendlier, now, don't get me wrong, they weren't rude at all but we clearly didn't know what we were getting so a little recommendation on the popular donuts would've been helpful.
