I can't really fault this place, with exception to price, since they are a solid donut spot. I will say, however, that is is not unique and they're just good donuts that will cost you a bit more than your local mom and pops donut shop. I came here at an odd after work hour when there was literally not a single person in the parking lot. The fact that they had a parking lot in this part of town was admirable enough on its own. I walked in and found one lonely woman working. She acknowledged me but then quickly went to the back. I waited a few minutes until she came around again, it was no big deal but I was confused why she saw me and then left me standing there. I ordered a plain old glazed donut. Yes when it comes to desserts I'm sort of a "not too sweet please!" kind of gal. It looked pretty fresh since they didn't even have time to restock the case yet and I merged over to the small window on the left of the restaurant with one little tiny bar to enjoy my donut. It was moist, it was fluffy, it was chewy. It was pretty much how I expected any donut to be. The fact that this place is 24/hours is cool so at any time you can get a deliciously chewy donut. I don't mind paying more for great quality, a unique selection of items or great customer service, but this place delivered none of those. A dozen donuts is $10.75 or $9.75, depending on whether you get regular or "upgraded" donuts. After tasting the "upgraded" donuts, I couldn't figure out what was so "upgraded" about them other than the price. Customer service = bad: Being new to the place, my husband and I needed a bit of time to mull over our options (we were buying a dozen). The lady behind the counter stood, arms crossed, staring at us repeating "you ready?" Since we felt rushed, we began making our choices but ended up changing our mind a few times because we kept discovering new donuts we wanted. She was visibly irritated and even gave an audible sigh saying "Okay, what do you want?!" I look at it like this...if you rush your customers, then you shouldn't be surprised if I ask you swap out a couple of donuts after I change my mind. And honestly, is swapping out a few donuts really that big a deal? I think not. And for almost $11 a pop, the dozen here was definitely not worth it. The only thing special about their donuts IMO is their crueller, which is light and fluffy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. But the rest were just average. Ok, I seriously cannot believe that I haven't written a review on this place yet. I have been coming here since I was a child. My parents both worked two jobs, so either right after my Dad's graveyard shift he'd pick up a fresh box (and I mean straight from the oven fresh) to bring home OR before bringing my mom to work for her early morning shift, we'd stroll through here and grab a couple dozen for the fam. We'd have their doughnuts at least three times, if not more, a week. And no one ever got tired of them. The freshness, their taste, the variety. It is just all around an amazing doughnut. The place itself is vintage and has a whole lot of character, and it hasn't changed. The paintings on the outside walls and how you can see into to bakery from inside the shop. And they have a great variety to chose from, all for a really great price. There's nothing like waking up for school, walking to the kitchen and seeing that light gold and brown rolling pin box sitting on our dining room table. It brings a smile to my face now just thinking about it =). I had no idea they were so close to my place of work! I had a craving for donuts and thought about grabbing a dozen to bring into work to share with my coworkers. At about 8:20am, I found my way to San Bruno and stopped in to get some donuts. There was a small line of about 5 people, but it moved quickly. The two ladies at the counter were really efficient! The lady who helped me was really nice, patient, and professional as I took my time picking out which donuts I wanted. I picked out a couple chocolate old fashioned donuts, a regular glazed old fashioned donut, a couple chocolate glazed donuts, a maple bar, and a couple jelly filled donuts. To top it off, I got an apple fritter in a baggie for myself. 13 donuts for $13 and some change. Not too shabby! My apple fritter was pretty solid for an apple fritter. The first 24 hour donut place I have been to here in CA since moving here. Went here after a FAIL at Lucky Chance's. It was 4am, lol. Yes, this old grandma can still party. lol. There was no one in there, obvi. There were 3 ladies there, the one in the front just didn't look too happy when we walked in. No smile, it was like she was going to kill me with her eyes, no joke guys. They had any donut imaginable (great selection) but I went with my usual Apple Fritter. But their donuts are fresh daily from 6am to 11 am only, that's a little disappointing since I want to get fresh donuts around 5am for my coworkers, not a day old. Great location parking near SFO. Stopped here to get half a dozen doughnuts on the way to work. The smell of coffee and pastries inside was amazing. I was there at 9am and there were 6 other customers but service was fast and efficient. So many doughnuts, cookies, pastries to choose from and multiple choices of drip coffee. Rolling Pin Donuts has their own private parking lot. I grew up eating Rolling Pin Donuts around San Francisco when they had a lot more locations. I was definitely excited when I found this location. What separates Rolling Pin Donuts from any other donut shop you ask? Rolling Pin's unique donuts would be their Jelly Donut Holes. The interior has vanilla flavored jelly and topped off with 4 flavors: Plain, Vanilla, Chocolate and Maple. The exterior of the Jelly Donut Holes are nice and firm with a very soft and moist interior. The consistency of the Jelly Donut Holes are very similar to French Crullers. The Plain was alright and the Vanilla was too sweet. I prefer and recommend the Chocolate and Maple Jelly Donut Holes. The Jelly Donut Holes sell out but no worries because Rolling Pins will make more throughout the day. I came in around 11am during the weekday and had fresh Maple, and Vanilla Jelly Donut Holes fresh and off their racks. If you order on DoorDash they will not have or give you what you select. It's just random or what they have more of. Just when ordering delivery in case you were thinking of that. This place actually came recommended to me, so I was really looking forward to trying it. I stopped in on a Sunday morning and was really disappointed to find that there was an extremely limited variety of donuts available, and the ones being made (which was the explanation for so few being available) wouldn't be done for a considerable amount of time.
