ive been seeing all the hype around this place so i thought id check it out finally. its one of the few donut shops that are open late. most have morning hours. its a small place with all the traditional donuts to offer. i tried a blueberry cake donut to compare with krispy kreme and dunkin donut. i thought it was soft and moist but did not have much blueberry flavor. more of just sweet. also had a glaze donut with chocolate on top. the chocolate didnt stay on and it seemed more like a fondant than chocolate. it was overly sweet. the maple bar was probably my favorite but still not great. if youre craving a donut late night, this is the place to go since most of the other donut shops are closed by the afternoon. read more

I have been coming here for over 30 years and loved their donuts. But recently when I went to get my usual dozen donuts, their glaze and caramel tastes have changed. I thought it was just a fluke when I went to purchase some last December. But yesterday when I went to buy some. No, I realize the recipe has change. Sad. Super yummy donuts and sweet treats right off El Camino Real! Street parking wasn't too bad during a weekday early afternoon. There was even space right out front. I came here on a mini bus with some of my residents at work and it was super simple to park! When we got here, (mind the large step to the entrance), we were helped right away by the nice lady at the counter. Though the line can get pretty long when people get multiple donuts (sorry to the people behind me as I got 2 dozen), it was worth the wait. The locals who just stop for coffee fix know just to put their money on the counter and go. There are quite a few donuts to choose from here, along with cookies and coffee, but my favorite has got to be the Apple Fritter. I think it's a bit pricier than their regular donuts here but it is a donut mound the size of 2 brains! I definitely recommend; it's like a fresh glazed donut but larger and with fresh chunks of apple for texture and flavor inside. It's even good the next day. If you need a donut fix, definitely come here. It really beats out chains like Krispy Kreme and isn't as excessively sweet. You can even see them flipping the donuts with those long chopstick-looking tools in the back! read more

Omg their donuts are delicious! They offer a huge variety of donut options and more. My kids love the donut holes. Added bonus is the drive through window. It makes it so much easier than having to get the kids out of the car to go inside. read more

Ok how have I not reviewed this Peninsula Gem. San Bruno does not offer much but this right here..Golden. I am not one for donuts (too sweet for me) but Rolling Pin is the best local donut shop and it's been around for a couple generations. When I first tried Rolling Pin after nearly a decade, I have fallen back in love with donuts. (Just theirs). Their texture and tastes are completely different from other donut shops. I'd consider them fluffier and not too sweet compared to other donuts I've had from local shops along the Peninsula. They're open 24/7! Their hot chocolate is delicious. I personally like mine a bit more thick vs watered down and that's exactly what I get. They finally take card recently and they have a great community relationship. That alone says enough. read more

The only positive thing I got from this place is that it's open 24/7 and they have plenty of parking. I was expecting a lot more from this place based of the reviews. The donuts didn't seem to have much flavor. We purchased 6 different kinds. They all seem to have a very plain flavor which we didn't get even one plain donut. They had a good amount of options but they all seemed to be very similar just different shapes in donuts. After eating a couple bites I got very sick from them. Definitely didn't sit right with my stomach. They are located on the corner of a somewhat busy street. They have plenty of parking on the side. They do appear to have a little bit of homeless people right outside the shop. The area is a little sketchy at night. read more

Located a few minutes from the international airport. Not many street signs to indicate the shop but easily found because of the various stop lights and signs. There is a gnarly mural - painting on the side of the shop. There is some lot parking but not much. I found parking easy for the middle of the morning. I opened the door and sweet aromas rushing to my senses. I take a look around to find a pleasant sized shop with a large case of various donuts and pastries. Behind the case was a large area where everything was being made and cooked. I was helped prompt by the friendly staff. Lady was kind to explain and give me a few moments to decide (no line). Everything you expect to find in a donut shop. Donuts, holds, cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, maple bars, and on and on. Some special items such as custard filled holes. I decided on a few things. Cinnamon rolls, the apple fritters, and the custard filled donut holes. Some because they are my favorites when getting donuts and others because of reading about them. Other items because they were a pretty good deal. Cinnamon rolls and apple fritters were a great deal. These are some if the largest I have found at a donut shop. Plenty of sweetness and right size for the price. Most place for the price you get a quarter or the size of the ones here. My goodness. The donut holes came as standard or with custard. I tried the various custard flavor offerings. Each flavor matched description. My mistake was waiting sometime to eat them. Not dry but the dough took some of the custard. Soggy but not bad. Overall quality was good. Tastes were on point. Price was a great value. I will return someday. Worth the drive. read more

Bought the bear claws Friday morning. 11/27/20 Did not eat them. Had their cherry turnover and the cinnamon bun instead, saved the bear claw for my son later. Saturday went back and bought the bear claw again, a couple donuts and the cinnamon buns. Went home and gave my son the bear claw. He said I'm not eating that again because it tasted sour and had mold in it. We were like no your trippin. So we opened up the one we just bought and there were spots of fuzzy mold in the bear claw!!!! I called them today to tell them. I asked to speak to a manger. Manager had just left per the worker. They put me on hold to speak to a gentleman who I'm assuming was the baker. We were able to communicate in English and Spanish. But when we were explaining the situation, all the person kept saying was , " huh" "hello" "huh" "hello" "hello". They were not trying to hear us. Nasty. Never going back! read more

Very solid place to find a donut. This place stands out as you approach it. There is a dedicated parking lot, and when you park, you see some pretty colorful artwork on the wall. The color continues inside. The place is pretty sizable for a donut place. There are two cashiers, and the donuts are shown from the left and right of the cashiers. I've gotten a dozen donuts there. The donuts there tasted very fresh and hit the spot. I highly recommend getting their filled donuts. The filled donuts come with the perfect amount of glaze, and they do not gip on the filling I forgot to mention that their dozen comes with 13 donuts, so come hungry. The service here is very good. The workers here were kind, respectful and offered suggestions when I was stuck on deciding what donuts I wanted. Overall, they don't make any specialty donuts, but they do make the basics and they do it very well. 4.5 stars read more

I have a huge problem with donuts. I used to get the bogo dozen donuts at krispy kreme but i had to stop. I would end up eating almost 2 dozen donuts in a week to finish it. Thank god i workout. I have apple fritters almost 4x a month. I love how crispy they are on the outside, and the inside are always so soft fluffy and moist. Rolling pin donuts gets 5 stars for being open 24 hours and also having delicious custard donut holes. I still love apple fritters the most, but the custard holes here are great as well. Open 24hrs. Need I say more? Donuts and pastries made on site. Nomnomnom. Did I mention that this place is open 24hrs? Easy parking in front or in their little parking lot. The ladies there always have a smile. Even if you come in at 2am. Yes, 2am. It's always a good time for donuts. My bf is kinda boring, he lives the glazed rings of happiness. I promise to be more adventurous and try more than just the blueberry, creme filled, and chocolate flavors. Major plus are the shop's hours. We need more 24hr stores 'round these parts, IMO. Man. It is so hard to find a good donut. Let's just be real. So when I stumbled upon his place I was a) shocked that it was closer to home than I realized and b) mad at myself for living in this area and not knowing about this place. You just can't go wrong with any of their choices! And it's way cheaper than crispy creme. When I asked my husband which glazed donut he preferred - Rolling Pin or Krispy Kreme, he said, " thats a hard one - that's like asking, 'Would you like to choose your right arm or left arm?'" Lol! While I understand the price increases due to the times, what I don't understand is the size decrease. I always buy old-fashioned donuts from here and the last time I bought from here was maybe 4 months ago. Today, the size of the donut has shrunk to about 3/4 of the previous size. One of the only places open 24 Hours in San Bruno!! Rolling Pin Donuts has been around before I was even born. The quality has not gone down a single bit over the last decades. I remember as a kid, my babysitter would spoil me with their donut holes as a reward if I showed good behavior lol. The dough here is so light and fluffy; it's the freshest I've tasted. So y'all better skip Krispy Kreme!! If you're near SFO, that's San Francisco Airport to the uninitiated around 3:00 a.m. you can't beat Rolling Pin on San Bruno Ave. I didn't want a donut so got a toasted whole wheat bagel with cream cheese & a chocolate chip cookie. Both plus a small coffee, 12 Oz., with, if you ask for it, real 1/2 & 1/2 from a quart container for $5.05! How can I not throw a buck into the tip bucket? Done! Almost forgot. Great place that I have visited a few times, because a friend introduced me to the store! Their doughnuts are very fresh, not too sweet, soft and moist, and having a decent small sized parking lot on the side, does help; mostly it helps because they are open 24 hours! They have jelly filled doughnuts, apple fritters, plain doughnuts, glazed doughnuts, chocolate doughnuts, etc. They also do have an ATM inside too, if you need to withdraw any cash. read more

Great location parking near SFO. Stopped here to get half a dozen doughnuts on the way to work. The smell of coffee and pastries inside was amazing. I was there at 9am and there were 6 other customers but service was fast and efficient. So many doughnuts, cookies, pastries to choose from and multiple choices of drip coffee. I ordered half a dozen random doughnuts and the old fashion and chocolate glazed were so tasty! read more

This place has definitely gone downhill, I had been coming here since the 70's and back then they deserved 5 starts all day every day! Now, the donuts were stale, the size shrinking, I get with the times, the old fashioned seemed like they changed the recipe and the cinnamon twist was good flavored but stale. I also got a maple bar and when I took a bite, the maple came falling off like old paint, did I get day old donuts? Even back in the day we would eat the next day and they weren't that bad. I was there the morning of 05-27 and paid cash +$16 (I gave $17 and drop the change as tip in the tin can) for the following; 1 dozen donut holes 2 glazed old fashion 2 chocolate donuts 2 sugar donuts I just realized by looking at the menu prices posted in their site, I think I was overcharged. Donuts here are the best and have been going here for years but I trusted them to charge me the correct price. If you order on DoorDash they will not have or give you what you select. It's just random or what they have more of. Just when ordering delivery in case you were thinking of that. If you order a dozen glaze they will call once the driver is there and tell you what they can give you. You will have to pay and get no refund even though what you ordered was incorrect. read more

For decades this has been the gold standard for donuts in the area. I remember long ago there were multiple locations....sadly this is the only one left. I'm a huge fan of CAKE donuts and not that Krispy Kreme crap where every donut tastes the same. You'll find everything you want here - and always fresh. They have some cookies in cases on the left side too that look good - but I wonder how long they've been sitting there and how many people buy them since this is first and foremost a donut place - next visit I'll take a chance and find out.
