Even though I don't get it very often, freshly pressed sugarcane juice is so deliciously good. The reason why I don't get it more? Well, besides for the sake of my waistline, it's that I haven't found a good place for it anywhere outside of San Jose! Much like my go-to spots in San Jose, Sugarcane HQ presses their own sugarcane fresh in-house (you can even watch as they do it). However, what sets this place apart, for me, is the variety of flavors you can choose from and how you can even create your own pairings. So, whether you want something like passion fruit and mango, kumquat and ginger, or just their original option, you can put together whatever flavors your tastebuds are craving! With so many enticing flavors to choose from, it would be fair to say I was torn on what to get. Ultimately, after a bit of waffling, I opted to get a CALAMANSI & KUMQUAT SUGARCANE JUICE. Now, I don't want to toot my own horn, but I think I did a pretty awesome job of picking flavors. Of course, not as good of a job as the workers did of putting together said drink, which was fantastic. Not only did this taste super fresh, but the tartness and acidity of both fruits did a great job of cutting through the sweetness of the sugarcane. What's more, they also complemented each other so well. In fact, I wish there had been more of both! As good as my drink tasted, the one (slight) knock about Sugarcane HQ is that, as others have already noted, the prices here are slightly higher than what Vietnamese delis in San Jose typically charge. That being said, considering how much closer this place is to SF and the fact that it just tastes so much better, I'm more than happy to spend more on the occasional splurge here when the cravings strike. I love that there's a place that does just solely sugarcane juice! Tbh, the only times I would ever get sugarcane juice is at night markets and random festivals when shops pop up. This place is located in a quiet strip in San Bruno and parking isn't too bad actually. The place itself is very earthy and it has that natur-y woodsy ambiance when you walk inside. The gentleman A.T. was there to assist us and even offered us samples before we ordered. They have three types, Sugarcane- original, calamansi, and passion fruit, which comes in four different sizes. You can get a small, large, half gallon, or 1 gallon. If you order a small(16 ounces) or large(24 ounces),you an get it without ice for an additional $1.50. Sure you may find the prices a little high, but it's worth it because it's the fresh ingredients that's what makes it worth every penny. This brings back a lot of memories from being in Asia. Overall my favorite was the original followed by the passion fruit and the calamansi. My friend like the calamansi the most, we both left with half a gallon each and a cup in our hands. You will need to order on the machine and there's two languages on there, either English or Chinese. Just follow the directions and wait for your order.
