Unlike your usual pho noodles place, RPG is a very contemporary and hippy Vietnamese place that every corner is Instagram worthy. There's no comfortable seating so it's more like a fast causal place like panera or cava. We had banhmi with pork belly, salad noodle bowl with lemongrass beef and a coconut. I like the salad noodle noodle bowl the most. Meat tastes very good and there was a lot of vegetables and less noodles! Banhmi was alright, I had better. We came here for an early dinner, around 5. We were going to Ikea but got out of work a little late so we decided to eat dinner before sitting in traffic. You place your orders at the kiosks in front of the open kitchen where you can see the food being made. Once your order is ready, the workers will call your number and you can pick it up. The food is packaged well and partly in takeout containers so it'd be really easy to bring home if you can't finish. My boyfriend and I got the Bahn Mi (pork belly) and three different Vietnamese rolls (pork belly, chicken, and shrimp) and we chose the spicy peanut sauce. Overall, the food feels more fusion than authentic but really good nonetheless. The bahn mi was MUCH better than the rolls! I don't even like cilantro or green onions but didn't mind them in the sandwich at all! The flavors complimented each other and was very delicious. It was also very filling, we started with the sandwich and I ate 1/4 of my half and I was stuffed. As for the rolls, we thought the shrimp was the best out of the three, but agreed that we'd only get the bahn mi next time we come back. The spicy peanut sauce was just okay as well. Have been here more than a few times. This place, despite having computer based ordering, has some of the most friendly staff ever. I've had more than a few long conversations at this place during closing time (I sit outside so it doesn't interfere w their lives), and the staff always comes and checks if we needed anything else, water, etc before they go home for the night. Really really nice. The food is good too and I'm a big fan of the spring rolls. The price adds up fast because with the computer ordering it's really easy to say "sure, add on spring rolls and a fresh coconut with a straw.". Also love that they have shirataki noodles and will put them in whatever you want in place of vermicelli. Can only hope that someone starts a boba place that has shirataki bubbles soon! read more

I understand it's sort of a fast food pho joint but I wish there were couple of things that were changed. As a Pho lover(I literally eat it once/twice a week), they should offer onion and vinegar. A must for me at least and a lot of other pho lovers I know. Also, the portion is very small. They should offer a regular and large. I don't eat a lot but the regular was even small for me. My main complaint of this place was the WASTE they produced. We dined in and EVERYTHING was packaged in plastic or some disposable bowl. One of their bowls even said "save the earth" but there was so much trash produced. I would suggest using actually bowls and less packaging for dine in customers. I must say with all the custom ordering I'm glad there was an easy touchscreen to customize you food on the fly. You place the order using all the photos you see from all the selections and then your food appears in a matter of mins. Although we ordered ourselves, there's a nice waitress who brought the food to us. She's helpful! I ordered chicken Pho and Hubby got a loaded bowl. That bowl was really loaded!!! I also ordered spring rolls by accident. I meant to order the summer roll where everything is steamed and not fried. I liked my Pho. It came with its own separate pepper, mint leaves and bean sprouts in a small bag. Hubby's loaded bowl was on a healthy side, so happy he got that. I tried and was pretty good. Good job! The restaurant is a cafe style and small. There's outside seating as well but when we went there it was raining so hard so outside seating wasn't used. The parking is a little tricky. You can park in a garage for free but hard to see the sign. They let you park only one car outside in front of the restaurant that is reserved for one customer. I've been back to Roll Play a few more occasions since my first review, and it has not disappointed me! My most recent order was a banh mi, and it was FANTASTIC. The bread was delicious, and I love the ability to customize everything just to my taste (i.e., no cilantro!). Seating is very limited, but generally you should be able to find seats fairly quickly if it's just you and one other person. Now that the weather is nicer, outdoor seating allows people to spread out a bit more. read more

This place is as my friend put it "super hip". The interior is cool, the ordering kiosks are quick and efficient and the food is delicious. I think its super cool with just how many options you have to customize your food -- the options are endless. I ordered the caramel pork w/ pickled radish, jalapeños, cilantro, cucumber and mango. I also tried the vegetarian egg rolls which come out with 4 and a side of sweet chilli sauce. While the meat was very high quality, the Dine In presentation was surprisingly poor (considering the high price) - the noodles came in a cheap plastic to-go box and the egg rolls in a paper sheath. I was also not a fan of the kiosk ordering - I was unable to ask for extra crushed peanuts in my bowl as I normally order it, and I would have liked to ask for some tips for my first visit to a staff member - again, especially considering the price tag. Finally, the chairs were the most uncomfortable things I ever sat on. It seems like the place cut many corners on Quality of Life for customers, but kept a very high price tag nonetheless. The fact that I live in Clarksburg, MD but REFUSE to get pho anywhere else besides my mothers home made pho or Rollplay says a lot. If I don't have access to my mothers pho then best believe I'll make the drive there. LOVE the fact that everything is disposable. They don't lack on attention to details from the spoons, to go bags to the little to-go packets of siracha and hoison sauce. Only complaint is that the place itself is too small, parking is not the greatest and not to mention a little over priced. While I didn't get to try the Rolls (what they are known for), I got the Fully Loaded Bowl with Chicken and my date got the Banh Mi with Pork Belly. Both were amazing. Came back and had a great experience! It seems they changed the rounded bowls for vermicelli into rectangular containers, making it much easier to eat. I also had another spring roll and it was not crazy salty like last time. I loved that they had an option to get pho on the side (which of course I got) and it was surprisingly delicious! I kid you not - I love this place and I probably take out food from here 5 times a month with my husband. We also usually use uberEats for our roll play delivery. A few times we've had some issues with uber spilling our food outside and what not but roll play has always been rly accommodating. This time - with uberEats - we ordered 2 phos, 1 shrimp summer roll & spring rolls. When we got our food we had everything but we only had 1 pho..... Great concept, great food! I have eaten Roll Play food at various Yelp events, but this was the first time I had the opportunity to visit the actual location. Despite it being extremely crowded and waiting almost 40 minutes to get my food after ordering, the concept and the food are both wonderful. I tried a custom roll and added a side of Chia banana pudding with a soda. I think because it was so busy, it seemed unorganized. I had to ask about getting a drink as it never got me there through the computerized ordering system. I also didn't realize to pick up the pudding from the drink case as it wasn't in the bag when I checked. I could have eaten the pudding while waiting for my custom roll to come up. I think people just flooded this place all at the same time. I don't honestly believe the employees could have sped up the delivery without taking quality into affect. All in all, despite the long wait, it was worth it for the food. Next time, better planning and a better time, I'm sure will be a better experience. But overall I loved the food and the ability to order through a computer to make sure my order was the way I wanted it. Lastly the chia banana pudding is a must try! My wife had their banh mi which she says is outstanding, and she has good taste. So I'll give them that. Layout of the restaurant is a problem. It isn't clear where the order line is. They have room for maybe 12-15 people to sit. Cramped. So again: meh. It is a corporate chain Vietnamese-style food place. I have been maybe 6 times and it's totally consistent. :) one of the owners makes a point to be there, so you know quality is important to them. Two thumbs up! One reason why I didn't go for all 5 stars- the space is tight and isn't great for sitting and hanging out for any lengthy amount of time. The tall stools don't have backs to them and it's small so it's best to come with a small group and plan to be out when you're finished so others can have your table.
