Have been to this one twice and the one in Winnemucca multiple times. Too bad this one is further away because it is a lot better. We always order the same thing but you would think they were different companies. The amount of ingredients is about double, the other one stuffs a bunch of lettuce to compensate for other ingredients. So if you are lucky enough to choose between the two definitely come out to this one. read more

If you find yourself rolling through Ely, Nevada on a road trip as we did...in search of lunch and sick of McDonald's and Carl's Jr. I urge you to give Roberto's drive thru a try. We knew anything would be better than a dry burger across the street but had no expectation of the amazing, authentic Mexican we would patiently wait for in the comfort of our car. We ordered 6 tacos & a side of beans and with it came a bag of fresh limes + 2 homemade hot sauces - green & red. The carnitas were crispy and perfect, the carne asada well seasoned and delicious. The tacos were large (heads up no street tacos here) and the refried beans...oh my the beans. If you love restaurant style creamy cooked all day beans...you've found bean heaven here. Do not miss Roberto's. I'm plotting my return, how to justify a 1000 mile road trip on the loneliest highway...just to get more drive thru beans. Enjoy. read more

Excellent taqueria, quick and friendly service. Everything we tried was delicious and very generous portions. The burrito had a massive amount of meat in it, and the tortillas tasted fresh and like the real deal, not those wimpy ones you get at the grocery store. The Holy Grail of carne asada burritos. My husband has been on a Quest for The Carne Asada Burrito of his surfer days in San Diego. We have criss-crossed the nation from Florida to northern California and back, stopping at many Mexican (New Mexican, Tex Mex...) restaurants along the way. Each experience was worthy in its own way but none was quite the right carne asada...until Rolbertos. It was delightful. The outside was a gas station convenience store in Ely, NV, but the inside was the perfect taco truck in San Diego after a long day's surf. read more

This place has the worst customer service of any Mexican restaurant I've been to in a very long time. After a long drive we went in with the family and add horrible customer health. The 15-year-old girl behind the counter has no clue what was in any of the burritos. After waiting for a half an hour I finally asked her when It was ready and she said it's almost done. 20 minutes later I went back and asked when it would be done and she was totally clueless. She never put the ticket up and they have not even begun the order. So 45 minutes sitting there with hungry family and we were the only ones in the restaurant and they never started the order. They werent apologetic and really could'nt care less read more

Masks were required but the staff, except for the cook, had their masks below their nose. When asked if the nachos had meat on them the young woman said she didn't know so we ordered chicken and beef tacos as well - way too much food. Great Mexican food on Highway 50! My husband, who comes from LA, said his chicken burrito was the best he's had. Homemade salsas were tasty, fresh and complemented our food well. Stopped to get gas at the Sinclair station, which is operated in the same building as Rolberto's. My brother walked in to get a receipt and came out saying we need to eat here! We decided to try the lengua and carne asada tacos. Wow! They were both great. Tuesday's special is Caldo de Res and it was Tuesday. So, we have decided to return for dinner. The menu is quite vast and lots of common Mexican specialties not found in most Mexican restaurants. Really authentic and we were both delighted. Excellent location, food and staff. We cross thru Ely often on our way around the west and live in CA where there's some good Mexican cuisine. This is the real deal! The food is fantastic and the staff are wonderful. They have a drive thru option which is very useful. read more

We reluctantly stopped here on our way through Nevada (we have been burned by many Mexican restaurants while traveling). They had decent reviews on Google so we crossed our fingers and went in. Very large servings! Service was fast, and the food was delicious . We liked it so much we stopped again on our way home a few days later! read more

I usually do not do yelp reviews but in this case, I made an exception. I've lived in Ely for many years and know good customer service and bad. This was bad. I ordered two each of two separate items about 20 minutes before closing. When I arrive home, there was only half what I ordered in the bag they gave me. Since they were closed that evening, I went back the next day to reconcile the half order I did not receive. Though they attempted to reconcile their mistake, there were no apologies for their mistake and I was given food portions much less than what usually come with that specific order. What there was plenty of was attitude and disgruntled body language. They've lost a long term customer because of this. Ill take my money elsewhere in town to eat. I would suggest La fiesta or Margaritas. Both have good food, no attitude and accountability for their mistakes. Take care all and be safe. read more
