I called Roland to start a class for my son who was turning 18 and needed a few hours of driving lessons to get fully ready for his "behind-the-wheel" test. Roland was very nice and scheduled a first lesson for the day after. The instructor provided my son with all the tips and guidelines for the day of the exam, and had him drive all around the DMV area to practice. After this first lesson, the instructor commented that my son was ready to take the exam and didn't need more classes ... and he got his license the week after. My daughter had two driving lessons. The first lesson was with the owner in the rain, and we had no complaints about the quality of the instruction. Unfortunately, the lack of communication afterward was very frustrating. My daughter and I called and texted multiple times to schedule additional lessons, but we never received a response. Good instruction is important, but so is reliable communication, and that was missing from our experience. read more

So glad I decided on Roland's driving school! Prior to going through them, I had chosen a different driving school (also in the Glendale area) and it was the worst. The instructor just bragged about why he was the best. After wasting my time and money, I came across Roland's driving school. Thank goodness I did! I really liked this driving school because of Karen( instructor). She was honest, explained everything as it is, it was clear that she had a good experience. Also want to mention, about punctuality. Till finding this school, I went other places too. But some driving school instructors start the session late and finish it early. She started the session on time and finished it on time. I remember being very nervous when she first picked me up, but in no time we were chatting away and I even forgot about my debilitating driving anxiety. My brother had lessons with Roland's 5 years ago. I asked the Insructor to seat I'm back seat the lady says no. On his second lesson Roland came . I asked if I can seat in the back. He said yes , but I didn't have to talk nor intervene. I was just eleven by the time. A week ago was my time to do it. I had Lisa on the first lesson ( French girl). She was cool and chill. Second and third lesson Roland came . He took me to Chevy Chase canyon for turns . Next lesson he helped me with pull over and parallel parking . Last hour he did the the pre testing . Today I got my license with only 3 minor mistakes . His voice is still in my head of what to do and why. I completely will recommend them to my friends. Thank you guys. We tried this driving school. My son actually took three lessons with them but when we tried to schedule them to go with him for the drivers test they didn't answer the phone. Over an 8 day period we called atleast 3 times a day. No answer and no answering machine. On two occasions they answered the phone and said that they would call back but they never did. I booked five driving lessons for my son. Drivers showed up and took my son out for the first three lessons. The fourth and fifth lesson were no shows. It is difficult to get someone on the phone, they don't return your calls, an auto-text says they'll call you back or you can reach them by text, but they don't respond to your texts. Do not go to this driving school! Roland is a terrible instructor! I had Lina for my first driving lesson and she was very patient. However, she kept telling me to never go at or under the speed limit and to always go five over, even during your DMV test. Which is crazy! Speed during your DMV test, do you want me to fail? Also she had obviously been smoking in the car before I had my lesson, and it was very uncomfortable for me during the lesson. I could not concentrate on driving with the strong smell of smoke. However, the only reason I gave this business two stars is because of Lina. She was very friendly and had an easy-going attitude. Lina is the only reason I came back to this place to give them a second try. Then I had my second lesson with Roland, the CEO. Let's just say, I don't know how this business has five stars. He was constantly talking on his cell phone during my lesson. Which is dangerous and unprofessional. I understand that you are in charge of this business and need to answer phone calls, but do you really need to do that while a new driver is driving on a busy road? And they were loud conversations in a different language! Throughout my lesson, he also had a long, sexist explanation as to why men are better drivers than women. Apparently men look at the big picture and women only care about their shoes. Excuse me? And during my lesson he kept telling me opposite things than from what Lina told me. (Which I understand as each driver drives differently, but these were complete opposites!) While driving on a street without lanes, Lina always taught me to stay to the right. So we are driving and Roland starts yelling at me for driving to the right!! He tells me to always drive in the middle of the road, and that I can go as fast as I want because nobody's there. What's going to happen when somebody suddenly turns on the road and I'm in the middle, speeding? He yelled at me multiple times during the lessons; Which made driving much more stressful than it already is. So thanks to Roland's driving school I am now a very frustrated, confused driver. Please do yourself a favor and find a different driving instructor. read more

I had an wonderful learning experience with Karen. She was very patience with me and taught me all the tips and tricks to pass the driving test. Very professional and she also helped me with my test date and worked around my schedule. I had 6 hrs driving lessons with them and Mr. Roland came on the day of the test himself. Me and my friend would have not passed if it wasn't for Roland and Lina! Best driving school ever! They taught me everything I know about driving and made me face my fear of driving and actually liking it and finding enjoyment in it. I would recommend it for yourself or your kid. Me and my friend had very different behaviors learning how to drive I was very afraid and scared of it while she was more relaxed and didn't take it seriously but both of us developed and passed less than a month after being with them. I highly recommend this school, because I tried another school before them and I have been told I will never drive, will never pass the test and will never be able to drive on a freeway due to my fear of driving. I had 5 lessons (10 hours ) with Roland's Driving School. Had a chance to meet Roland and Lina only. They're both very caring instructors and kind of similar. I would say I like the energy and consistency of they're explanations . Sometimes I would not be in a mood for a lesson , but it would take 5 minutes after starting a lesson and I would forget about my mood . My son really enjoyed his hours with these guys! I'd highly recommend them! They would arrive when they said they would. They gave him a great foundation for being a safe driver. They were friendly and helpful. When he met all of his requirements and felt ready to take the test, Roland offered the service of picking him up on a Saturday, Roland's set up the exam appointment, he was picked up and used Roland's car to take the test. Small fee, but well worth it! So convenient and they set up an appointment really quickly with DMV. My son was really happy to have passed first try! My son even told his friend to call Roland's for the last service mentioned for the pick up and Saturday appointment with DMV, even when his friend hadn't used Roland's for the driving hours. She asked if we would like to reschedule or have a replacement instructor. Replied that we would like to keep the schedule and have a replacement. At scheduled time, we waited for the instructor and nobody.....called the driving school several times and 20 minutes after scheduled lesson, received a text that a replacement instructor was not found. read more

2 weeks ago we called and left a message. Someone called us back a while later and set up a lesson for my daughter for yesterday. They asked that my husband text them our address and they would confirm beform the lesson. 2 days before the lesson we called to confirm because we had not heard from them. Someone answered and said there would not be a lesson because he didnt write the lesson down and never got our info because we must have texted it to a landline, not a cell. (We sent it to the number he gave us). He promised he would call back later that evening to try to set something else up and see if there was a cancellation. No call that evening. No call the next day. My daughter has so little available time and we wasted 2 weeks waiting for a lesson that this person couldnt be bothered to write down. Not professional at all.
