I work a full time job, and could only dedicate my nights to the class. There was never someone around to help me walk through questions I had while I was studying, and often their resource forums were quiet whenever I would post, or would return with another student saying they had absolutely no clue either. There were moments during the day that I could secure a teacher's help, but once that passed I was again off on my own, and was even told by one student teacher "we don't give you all of the information, you should be able to find what you need on google." I did my best, but working mostly alone I was overwhelmed trying to scour other sites for answers they wouldn't provide me. Ultimately tired, and my relationships in shambles since I spent most of my free time working on this course, I discussed withdrawing. They tried really hard to not only keep me going in the program, but also started trying to sell me more classes! I turned them down and said it'd be better for everyone if I just left, and the representative I spoke with was amazingly kind about it. She guaranteed me that I wouldn't have to pay the full amount since I was leaving early, and it turns out I (after my deposit) would really only owe about 7-800$. They sent me agreements to sign, which I didn't understand very well, and they weren't willing to be very clear with me, so now I'm being told that I owe close to 4K still. I reached out to Coding Dojo, and they've ghosted me. Look, there were some great moments with teachers there, but ultimately they expect you to learn mostly on your own, and don't have a system that works for people with a full time job, even though they'll tell you they do. Plus once they get the money they want from you, they'll leave you on the curb feeling dirty and figuring it out on your own. Avoid this school. Don't be like me and save your $. Please.

The schools that I visited though out that year was some pretty name brand schools but they really did not make you feel very welcoming. I was actually told by one of my colleague at work about this school. I was very hesitant about calling since I was not aware of the school, but when I called and talked with one of the staff members she was very friendly and provided me with a lot of information. When I first walked into CES college, I felt this warm feeling inside, literally like I was at home. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I immediately went home and told my husband that I found the school that I wanted to go to. CES college will provide you with everything that you will need in order to succeed in the nursing world and more. All the staff want you to succeed and they help you at achieving that goal. Mr K the nursing instructor is very informative and he pushes you to reach that goal. He does not let you quit or say that you cannot do this. When you are done with your school you will have the knowledge to go out and pass your NCLEX that is how much this school prepares you. From the first day of school to the last day of school you will know what you need to know. I too passed my NCLEX on the first try, and it is the thanks to Mr K for always believing in his students, and telling us that with hard work it pays off. And he was right. He was able to keep people engaged, and went above and beyond by educating us on different opportunities available for phlebotomists. Narek was also very helpful and was leading my orientation. For the longest time, nursing school lived in the same category as "I'll get to it eventually."…read moreEventually turned into 6-7 years of postponing, doubting myself, and wondering if I was really cut out for it. Ironically, what finally pushed me to take the leap was watching a coworker graduate from West Coast University. Did she vent about the program being stressful? Absolutely. Did she ever have a bad thing to say about the professors or staff? Not once. That spoke volumes. Nursing school isn't supposed to be easy. Caring for people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives isn't easy, so why should the preparation be? Hearing about the challenges didn't discourage me, it reassured me that the program was doing exactly what it was meant to do. So, after attending an information session for the second time in two years, I finally decided to stop flirting with the idea of nursing school and commit. What stood out to me immediately was the transparency! From day one, everything was laid out clearly: what was required for admission, what resources were available, and what steps needed to be taken to succeed. There were no surprises, no sugarcoating, just straightforward guidance and support. Then began the adventure of getting all my "stuff" together. I would be remiss if I didn't give a special shout-out to David Gallardo, who is low-key one of the biggest reasons my application was completed at all. During the application process, I was navigating some personal challenges while helping care for my mother. Throughout it all, David remained patient, encouraging, and consistently supportive. More importantly, he always started our conversations by asking how I was doing, not just where I was in the application process. That may seem like a small thing, but it meant a lot. His kindness and reassurance gave me confidence when mine was running low. If first impressions truly matter, David was the perfect first impression of West Coast University. Now, as I prepare to begin this journey, I won't pretend I'm not nervous. I have moments where I wonder whether I have what it takes. But I also know that West Coast University has already shown me that support, resources, and dedicated advisors are available every step of the way. At that point, the responsibility shifts to me to use those resources and keep moving forward. So here I am, equal parts anxious and determined, looking forward to the long study sessions, sleepless nights, and study-group marathons. Two years from now, I plan to walk across that stage knowing that earning my degree wasn't easy, but it was worth it. And when that day comes, I'll happily become an unofficial ambassador for West Coast University, completely pro bono lol. If I can help encourage even one person who has been sitting on the fence the way I did for 6-7 years, wondering whether they're capable or whether the timing is ever going to be right, then I'll gladly share my experience. Sometimes all it takes is seeing someone else take the leap to realize you can do it too. For now, though, it's time to get to work. See y'all in two years! GM.

He responds quickly and is genuinely willing to answer any questions. I was hesitant at first because of the parking situation, the price (WOW SO AFFORDABLE?!), and the location, but the program is on the state-approved list. After the class ended on the last day, we were given the exam links right away and were able to test without delays. Albert knows phlebotomy inside and out, and he teaches in a very compressed, straightforward way. Since I'm already in the medical field, a lot of the material felt familiar, and many of my classmates also had prior medical experience. What I appreciated most is that Albert wastes no time--he's very goal-oriented and focused on getting you trained, certified, and ready to move forward. You could tell he wants you to succeed! Before enrolling, I visited the location myself so I could understand the parking situation. It's a shared space, which is normal for smaller medical training programs. Schedule an appointment with Albert if you want to see the class! What matters most is that the school is state-approved and gives you what you need for the price, the tools, and the time commitment. Overall, I'm really glad I chose this program. It was efficient, straightforward, and didn't waste months of my time the way a community college phlebotomy course would have. It was absolutely the right choice for me.

It is not a perfect program, however, Dr. Verba (Director of the PTA Program) works hard and does her best to make it a perfect program along w/ Dr. K (Director of Clinical Education) and Ms. MD (Professor). They do their best to help students get through the program by taking the time to sit down with students who are showing signs of struggle and anyone else who asks for help. So make sure to ask for help. It is imperative that before entering the program, you speak to Dr. Verba about any potential struggles or concern you may face during the 20 months. BE HONEST W/ YOURSELF. Dr. Verba and her team's goal is to help us students pass the NPTAE (National Physical Therapist Assistant Exam) and get a job after. Now, time to talk about the program. There are a total of 8 terms consisting of 10 weeks each (unless this changes over time), w/ only a few days off in between each term. So for the next 20 months, this program will be THE PRIORITY. Personally, I had to put my life on the side with my priorities being the program, my girlfriend and my family. I spoke to my friends ahead of time, and let them know that my time will be limited but that does not mean I did not have time for them at all. It's all about time management and making sure I still prioritized my studies. The first 2 terms will be general education classes. This can be different w/ each student. I came from CSUN and wanted to find a way to progress myself in the field of PT w/out breaking my bank. This was the next best step for me. My GE credits were transferred from CSUN and I was able to bypass some of the classes allowing me to work and go to school in the first 2 terms. In terms 3-4, things started to really pick up and get harder. This is when I stopped going to work and was a full time student. Majority of my time was studying and really understanding the material. I try to come in with a positive smile and eagerness to learn. I always tried to be the first to volunteer when needed for demonstration of any special tests due to my learning style being hands on. I recommend figuring out your preference of learning style as it helps you really grasp the material. Of course the textbook will be your holy bible or holy text. Term 3-4 will be the terms that "Make you or break you." It is the hardest of the program. In my cohort, this is where we lost majority of our class. I highly recommend asking for help. Ms. MD once told me, "people who go to open lab or ask for help, sometimes aren't actually the ones who need the help." And that really speaks volumes as it shows the dedication of these students. In terms 5-6, things start to fit together and make sense (at least for me). DO NOT LET UP ON STUDYING bc that will be your downfall and result in grades to fall. The memorization items, along with the conceptual items become to make sense. It made sense to me because we put what we learned into practice. This is also where you will be prepared for your clinical rotations. 1st round of clinicals is the last 6 weeks of term 6. So be prepared. Read the textbook and continue to study. Its as simple as that. In terms 7-8, you continue w/ clinical rotations. The first 4 weeks of Term 7, you will have class and then sent out to clinical rotation the last 6 weeks. You will then have a slight break (might be different w/ each cohort depending on schedule) and beginning of term 8, the first 6 weeks will be the 3rd and final clinical rotation. During clinical rotation, it is important to NOT slack off on studying. Again, this program is to prepare you to pass the NPTAE at the end of the program so if you slack off on studying, you will fall behind when you return for the last 4 weeks of Term 8 as review for NPTAE begins and continues again after the term ends. Your future self will thank you that you put in the effort to study during your clinical rotation as studying for the NPTAE will be slightly easier. Reviewing old material from terms 3-6 is important. Once you have finished the term, you will then prepare for the NPTAE with a class that is optional, but highly recommend going. Trust in Dr. Verba. When you have doubt, express it privately to Dr. Verba. She has been doing this for who knows how long now (sorry Dr. Verba if you read this. Not intentional on calling out your age Hahaha) BUT Dr. Verba is experienced in this, she has been creating questions to submit to the board. Dr. Verba knows what can be expected in the NPTAE. If you are unsure about going to concorde for the PTA program, I understand. It is a commitment. Reach out to me if you have any specific questions about my experience. I am happy to share. Lastly, I want to thank the faculty. They work hard, and is underappreciated by the students. Thank You again.
